[/i][/right]When the settlers of Earth first came to Pern, they believed they found paradise. For eight years this was true, till Thread fell. A mindless organism that consumed all but rock, metal, and water. Looking as harmless as it's namesake, thread. It changed everything, and though the people of Pern tried, their efforts were not enough. Someone noticed the native animal that they called Firelizard, a species that looked like a miniature Dragon, chew a unique type of stone. As the fair of Firelizards took to the sky they seemed to spit out flame! Turning the Thread into ashes. Technology was only enough to get the people settled on Pern, but they had just enough to do what they had in mind. Change the Firelizards into actual Dragons. It took time but it happen, Dragons were made and Bonded to Humans. Thread was destroyed and the Pern safe.
The lead Scientist who helped create the Dragons gave a warning. Though the Dragons are healthy, though it seems all is well. They were not able to genetically prepare the Dragons in case a virus evolved well enough to affect them. Even kill them. This warning was taken to heart, but as time passed the warning was forgotten. Now over 1256 Turns later, when an Interval lasted twice the time it should have, causing the people to believe Thread was finally gone. An illness took hold, it started with a cough and grew. Spreading from the over populated Holds, the stages were simple. Cough, feverish, fever induce coma, boils on chest, and the final sign before death arrived. Liquid in the lungs making a wet sound when one breathed. It took many lives, and it eventually spread to the Dragons. Also killing them.
Before it could destroy all, a Weyrwoman and her ill Gold with a team of other Draognriders who's companion was ill, went South. There they took everything and anything that could be a cure. From plants, rocks, minerals, and water samples. The Weyrwoman's Gold was too ill to return. There the two passed away in the spot that would be the hope of Pern. The cure was found, and Pern is recovering. All Dragons and Riders who did not get ill or recovered before the cure was found have been sent South, making their home in the spot the Weyrwoman and her Gold last stood. Calling it Sebeka Weyr.
Set right before the 5th Pass, the people of Pern have been hit with disaster. An illness turns into an epidemic that destroys more than half of Pern's population. Those immune had been sent South where the cure was found. A new Pass draws near, the Dragonriders are preparing for Thread, will you join them?

Sebeka Weyr is set in an alternate 5th Pass of Pern. We are an Intermediate to Advanced Literate, Semi-Canon Forum. With many positions open for immediate creation. What we also have to offer:
