One thing was sure.
Tiffanie would never lead a normal life again. And from what she had heard, even on Pern, dragonriders were a distinct minority. Of course, she and Cioeth would not be permitted to go there.
Cioeth was, by their standards, deformed. She had even been warned her dragon might actually be bisexual...chasing as well as rising. She supposed that would come with time and maturity, one way or the other. Cioeth definitely *identified* as female, despite the blue shimmer to her hide.
So. She would stay here, and learn more about this beautiful, wonderful creature she was bonded to.
She stepped back to regard Cioeth as an artist might regard her handiwork. Freshly bathed and oiled, the chimera dragon almost seemed to glow.
"Cioeth? I think you have grown again."
Cioeth rumbled amusement.
"I know. Children are supposed to grow." But dragons grew very quickly. Why, soon enough Cioeth would be able to carry her aloft...and the view alone would be worth all the care the somewhat vain dragon demanded. Cioeth...insisted on being bathed a *lot*. "You're looking good, though."
Cioeth, of course, struck a pose at that, preening a little along the front of her left wing.

There was a soft snort of amusement from somewhere behind the weyrling pair, covered up quickly by a fit of coughing and a draconic snort. Pardon his interruption. K'neth is something of a dimglow much of the time. Halderoth said with an air of dignity and the faintest hint of exasperation. Somewhere from underneath the blue-green chimera's wing came a whine of annoyance, and Tag ducked out from his hiding place and sheepishly waved a hand.
"Sorry, Hi. And my name's NOT K'neth, for the record." He said, brushing his hair back from his face. "I um, didn't mean to bother you. we were just gonna sneak past, but your little one..." He shrugged. " It was cute, sorry."
...you are a sentimental fool, mine. You said I was cute once as well. "Stuff it, you. Babies are cute. It;s a fact of life."

Tiffanie laughed. "Not so little any more. Trying to work out how big she's going to end up. Closer to green than blue, I think." She rubbed Cioeth's nose. "Tiffanie. And this is Cioeth, the one and only."
Because even had Cioeth not been a chimera, she would still be the one and only. The dragon had distinct personality.
"And babies are cute, although I think she's got a bit past the *baby* stage, at this point. I'm torn between wanting to cling to the cute and looking forward to flying with her."

Tag grinned, and gave her a thumbs-up. "Nice to meet you, ladies. I'm Tag, and this here's Halderoth." He couldn't help but still smile at them, as if remembering something. Cioeth, the one-and-only. I feel I can remember that. The mottled blue-green said with a sort of amused mental chuckle.
"Meh. Babies are adorable but to be honest?" Here both dragon and human glanced skywards, and a shared expression of glee lit up their faces. "Flying is amazing."
Halderoth nodded emphatically, for once showing something other than boredom or apathy as it spread it's wings slightly. I cannot agree more. It said wistfully, then regarded the younger dragon with some thought. Soon.

Tiffanie grinned. "Well, at least we're not on Pern. I hear they don't have cameras there."
Yes. Tiffanie had taken embarrassing baby pictures of her dragon...but she was unlikely to be the only one. "She is such a lovely color, too. They say blue and green shouldn't be seen, but she makes it work. Maybe because the colors are natural."
Cioeth spread her wings, letting the light glint off them to show off the blue shimmer. "And soon enough we'll be flying. I'll have to learn more about those harnesses you use to keep you from falling off." Which would be fatal.
"I suppose its on the list of things we need to learn, though, so..."
