IC DATE/TIME: Week of June 19, 2011 Time: 12:30 am Trinity was, for lack of a better word, sulking. It was later at night, probably half past midnight, and Trinity was hiding in the only place she could think of where she wouldn't be bothered. The common room was out, what with some of the other handlers spending the nights there if they had little else to do, and the bowl was too exposed. She didn't feel like dealing with Trinsk at the moment, so inside was the only refuge. She flopped down onto a bench, sighing loudly and with the main intent of just making noise. It made her feel a little better, really... no, nevermind. It didn't help. She tried again, a few more times, experimentally, and then swore violently. It definitely wasn't helping. She shrugged her loose shirt back up, annoyed by the way it kept falling to off her right shoulder, and picked at non-existent bits of fluff on her skirt for a few seconds since she had little else to do. The main hall was dark at this hour, lit by only the most minimal of lights and the glow coming from the fluorescent lights of the kitchen all the way on the other side of the room. She waited a moment, listening hard to the silence, then screamed another string of curse words and slammed her head onto the table. She had no idea why she was so pissed off at the moment, but her mood was black enough that even her dear gold flit refused to come anywhere near her. So, feeling grumpy and now even a little betrayed, she picked up an errant spoon left on the floor from the evening meal and flung it at the wall. It made a satisfying clang when it hit the stone, and Trinity smiled grimly. A few minutes later she'd devised a rather amusing game involving tossing the spoon at the wall just to hear the delightful 'clu-fung' noise it made.

Faizah was still up, and was craving a soda from the fridge. And maybe even a brownie if any were left. So, with Reyna wrapped around her shoulders, Faizah slipped from her room and into the main weyr.
As she appraoched the main hall she could hear the steady 'clu-fung' of silverware hitting the wall. So either another person was up, or one of the handlers was having a bad night. She was curious as to who might be up at this time of night. But as she reached the main hall and saw who it was, she suddenly wished she hadn't wanted that soda. Trinity was a sour person on the best of days.
Reyna gave her away though. Raising her little wedge shaped head, she chirped at the handler. Faizah could have cursed, but refrained from it. Instead she waved mutely and continued on her way to get her soda.

Trinity glanced between the Weyrwoman and the growing pile of silverware on the floor for a few moments, trying to see if she couldn't figure out an explanation... she couldn't.
"Weyrwoman." She said stiffly by way of greeting. And oh, sharding lovely, the redhead seemed less than thrilled to see her. So her reputation was spreading, it seemed. Fine. it wasn't as if Trinity particularly wanted to talk. So she just raised her hand rather lazily, and with none of the respect the Weyrwoman likely deserved. (And damn if it didn't take a good deal of effort to make a handwave seem rude.)
Then her eyes caught Reyna...the elegant little gold was wrapped securely around her human's shoulders so perfectly...Trinity swore softly under her breath. A quick check assured her that Hama was still steadfastly ignoring her, and a further prod only got a grumpy black thought from her flitter to leave the gold alone, as Hama obviously was still angry with her.
Trinity was not amused. But, later on, she would swear vehemently that the spoon colliding with the fridge door a scant few inches in front of Faizah was a complete accident.

Faizah didn't so much as flinch. Besides, she had grown up in a house where things flying towards her, or at all, was quite normal. Why should it startle her now? But Reyna was another matter entirely.
While the gold had also had her share of things thrown at her, she wasn't going to allow someone to throw things at Hers. The gold left Hers' shoulder and flew over to Trinity and began angrily chirping at her. Did Reyna know that the handler's own gold was angry at her? No. Did she truthfully care? Of course not. Trinity had crossed an unseen line in Reyna's mind.
Faizah tried to calm the angry gold, and did manage to get Reyna to alight back on her shoulders. But Reyna would not be soothed. The gold continued to angrily chirp from her place on Faizah's shoulders, her eyes whirling red with her anger. Faizah stroked the gold head as she addressed Trinity.
"What are you doing alone at this hour?"

"Throwing cutlery at the wall, obviously. Are you slow or just stupid?"
Trinity snapped immediately as a response. She didn't particularly care that the gold flit was angry at her, and she just arched an eyebrow at the creature and scoffed. She did slightly admire the flitter's protectiveness, but she was not in the mood to soothe a queen's ego at the moment. (Hell, if she had been, perhaps Hama wouldn't be so grumpy with her still.)
"Oh, like I'm afraid of you. A pile of numbweed is more threatening to me than some cranky flitter." She grumbled, and made a shooing motion at the small queen. "Stop bothering me."
After a pregnant pause wherein she bent, picked up the spoon, and examined it with agonizing and deliberate slowness, she glanced back at the Weyrwoman. "If you're looking for an honest answer, I don't have one. here just seemed as good a place as any for me to be alone at this hour. I'm in no mood to be bothered by that daft behemoth who seems so attached to me, so I came here." She polished the spoon on the hem of her skirt, and cooly watched the younger woman.
"Now what about you? Midnight snack or some other motive?"

Reyna growled indignantly at Trinity, only being held back from biting the handler by fizah's grip over her wings.
"Wanted a soda." Faizah remarked, opening the fridge and grabbing a pepsi. "Would you like one?" She asked Trinity absently.
((Sorry for the fail post...))

Trinty sulked for a moment, displeased by the weyrwoman's lack of reaction. Finally, she sighed, and grudgingly held out her hand.
"Mmm. Yes, please. One of those fizzy orange ones." She said, pretending as if her previous outburst ad never happened. "I'll give this place one thing- I much prefer these 'sodas' to day-old klah."

((Not at all Red (: ))
Faizah grabbed an orange fanta and handed it to the handler. Then she picked a spot on the counter across from Trinity and hopped up onto it. Reyna had been given a strip of beef jerky from the cupboards behind Hers, and she was happily munching away at it.
Faizah absently stroked the gold's wedge shaped ehad as she sipped at her pepsi. Then she looked over at Trinity with a quizzical look.
"Trinity? Why do you think Trinsk is such a horrid creature?" Faizah asked with curiousity.
((Treading deep waters there...))

((*evilgrin* Dangerously so.))
Trinity fought with the strange opening fastener on the can for a moment before finally getting it open. Giving it a withering look, she then smugly sipped some of the soda, sputtering a bit at the fizzy carbonation.
She chose, for the moment, to ignore what Faizah had said, instead wriggling the tab on the soda top until it came free, then twisting it around in her fingers as if it held some sort of important secret to figure out.
"Because he's a wher." She said finally, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "Because they're mistakes, because they're wrong, because that monster thinks he knows me." Her voice was quiet and flat and dull, no emotion whatsoever. "Because he tries to get in my head and no one should be able to do that. Because he's broken and wrong and I hate him. Is that clear enough?"
She tried her best at the end there, to not let her voice waver, but it did, the slightest tremble. "I don't like him because I didn't want him. I didn't want to have to take care of him, and I didn't want to come here. And because he looks like Col..." she broke off and inhaled sharply, clenching the hand not holding the can of soda tightly into the fabric of her skirt.
Her voice dropped to a barely audible whisper, and it seemed like she'd forgotten she was talking to anyone but herself. "Because I lost my soul and I still live, but he doesn't. I can't betray him like that... If I have Trinsk, it's like Colith gets further and further away..." Her voice cracked and she stopped talking, swallowing hard to control the lump in her throat. She seemed to suddenly realize Faizah was there again and made a slight sneer at the younger woman.
"He's a beast. Not a dragon, and he has no right to think or act or look like one. I don't understand why the whers need handlers at all, really, other than that perhaps they're too dumb to take care of themselves."

Faizah nodded, choosing to ignore that last part. She was a firm believer in that there were no such things as mistakes. And besides, Lakeen and Virisk would vehemently disagree with Trinity. Faizah organized her thoughts for a moment. Then she spoke.
"Here on Earth we have some odd beliefs. It may not make sense to you, but it seems like the only logical thing to me." Faizah paused for a moment.
"Inside us all there is a thing called a soul. Atleast that's what we call it here. But anyway, the soul is bound to your body until you die. And only true death is acheived when the soul is destroyed. Reincarnation is the belief that souls, which deserve it, are allowed to come back and live life again. Maybe not as the same thing they were before, but they get to come back.
"I believe this because I've seen it happen. My mother was engaged to marry one decent man in her entire life. But he was sent off to war and was killed across the sea. I loved him like he was my own father. When we heard he was dead... I don't think I believed it. my mother wouldn't allow me to go to the funeral. I was angry as can be, but I stayed home. It was hard on all of us to let Jay leave.
"Two years later my little brother was born. I swear, even to this day, that he is Jay. They are the same. Jay's soul was allowed to come back, and it came back as my brother. I knew it from the first time I saw him, but it wasn't until a few years later that my mother noticed it."
Faizah paused for a moment. She wondered if Trinity was even listening to her. But then she dismissed the thought. If she wasn't... That was her loss.
"What if your Colith's soul came back to you? What if Colith's main being, everything that he was, is Trinsk?"
((That's a leap. Wonder what she will do?))

Trinity was all set to dismiss Faizah- she couldn't care less about Earth beliefs or superstition or any such crap like that. So she mostly only listened with half an ear, sipping the soda in the most surly way she could manage.
But when the weyrwoman began to say something about her brother, and her father, or something, she began to get bored. But she had to admit, she was a tiny bit curious... HE went across the sea and died? Blah. How tragic, whatever. But...her little brother. Was...how? It couldn't be.
She bit her lip until Faizah was done, trying not to speak, the words and the implications therein threatening to bubble over and spill out with all ehr doubts, but she let the Weyrwoman finish first. By the time she had digested enough of the meaning of the words to be able to talk, Trinity 's eyes were burning with unshed tears.
"It can't be. It sounds nice, yeah, but it's impossible! Between is forever, Faizah! My Colith is gone and there is nothing that can bring him back. If there was, you think I wouldn't know?!" Her voice cracked with the sudden wash of emotion in it, and she bit back a sob. She wiped her eyes on her sleeve and took a huge breath to try to calm herself.
Outside the main hall, a deep menacing bellow emanated from somewhere below. Obviously a wher's voice, it was a call full of menace against whoever had hurt His, and a pang of worry for the crying girl inside. Trinsk bellowed again, and a flash of cold air and a menacing squeak announced Hama's arrival at trinity's shoulder. The hyperactive gold shrieked until Trinity literally clamped her mouth shut with two fingers and pulled her into an embrace.
"It can't be possible. It...can't be..." Trinity mumbled even as all her attempts to stop crying failed miserably and tears continued to flow freely down her face. "Colith...Trinsk..." Hama crooned softly, licking a teardrop from her face and trying to be soothing.

Faizah jumped as the bellow of an enraged Wher came to her ears. Other bellows rang through the air as other Whers joined in; alarmed at what might be going on. Handlers were trying to settle their bonded. Reyna noticed the other gold enter the room. She crooned at her softly, wondering what was alarming Trinity so much.
Faizah mentally smacked herself. What was she thinking, bringing it up? She knew the riders who had lost their dragon between were very sensitive to mention of their lost one. Hell, she had seen how badly Brekke was, and Lytol too...
((Sorry. Little inspiration.))

Trinity took a few deep breaths, and extended her conciousness to the screeching blue wher outside. She could feel Trinsk latching on to her feelings, and surprisingly, instead of worry or a lack of comprehension, she instead felt deep sympathy and worry. He stopped crying, instead settling on a low keen of misery.
His was hurting, and this time, he knew why. He had known for a very long time. HisprettyTrinity was hurt. She always hurt, but something had made it worse. He didn't know what, or why, but he loved his prettyTrinity so dearly, that all he could do was let her know he was there. Love mine. Love. Not want hurt. Bad. Love.[/i] He sent to her, fully expecting by now the lash of anger and rejection she always flashed his way when he spoke to her.
But Trinity just steeled herself, restraining her emotions again and hiding behind the feeble cover of her flitter's wings until she felt she could manage. "Don't. I can tell you're going to say something idiotic, and trust me, there's no need. I'll quiet my beast..."
Sure enough, Trinsk felt Trinity calling to him, but...there was no real anger. Just a sort of resigned depression and...the tiniest glimmer of patience. Go back to your den. I am alright, just...go. Trinsk rumbled, not willing to leave, and clearly stating this intention with one of his mind-images he used instead of speech. it was him, a big blue rock outside the main hall, and a shining beacon that was Trinity in a far-away place. Clearly, he intended to wait for her.
For a moment, Trinity frowned at the wher's stubbornness. But the moment passed, and she let out a sigh. She released the gold flitter she'd been clinging to, and Hama indignantly chittered at her a moment before eyeing Reyna almost competitively for a moment.
Trinity just folded her arms across her chest and pretended as if nothing had happened. "You've ... upset me a great deal, Weyrwoman." When Trinity spoke her title, she made it sound like a mockery. "But I have...much to think on."

Faizah nodded in understanding. Of course she would. Faizah still greatly regretted opening her mouth and saying something so stupid to begin with. "Would you like some ice cream?" Faizah hesitatnyl asked.
Reyna noticed the look the other gold gave her. Reyna flared her wings, challenging the other gold openly. After all, what had she to lose? Reyna had been the first gold at Rocky, and she was not a gold to mess with lightly.

Hama chirruped haughtily, her eyes wheeling in agitation, though she clearly recognized the other gold's seniority. And, after all, if herprettyshiny was okay, she could pretend she wasn't offended. So The spotted gold just huffed, pretended as if she'd never done anything in the first place, and nibbled Trinity's hair.
Trinity just sighed, but with more of her usual annoyance at life in general. "Ice...cream? I...hmm. Well, why not. I suppose I hardly have anything more pressing to attend to."

Faizah smiled, opening the freezer and looking inside. She took out three containers and opened them for Trinity to see. The contents of two were half gone, while one was barely touched.
"We have chocolate, cookie dough, and green tea. Which would you like?" Faizah asked as she walked over to the cupboard and pulled out four small bowls and two sppons from the drawer. She went to a different drawer and pulled out an ice cream scoop. As she waited for Trinity to make up her mind, she got a small portion of cookie dough ice cream out and set it on the table. Reyna, growling now at the other gold, noticed the movement and chirped happily. She took a spot on the table and began flicking her tongue over the ice cream. This was a usual treat to the odd gold.
"Green tea is my personal favorite, but Reyna prefers a little cookie dough. Would your gold like some?" Faizah asked before the other woman could answer her first question.

"They like that stuff? it's the color of numbweed. Hardly appetizing...should a dessert really be green?" Trinity mused, glancing suspiciously at the green tea ice cream. "And tea should be hot, not cold. No, I don't trust it. I think i shall stick safely with...chocolate. Yes."
Hama leaped onto the table, circling Reyna for a moment with curiosity before spreading her wings for a leap to the counter by Faizah. The pale gold creeled politely, and put her front claws on the edge of the green tea package, sniffing it delicately. Then she looked up at Faizah, made a happy noise, and bounced back to Trinity.
"What, you like that stuff? That's foul. But if you really like, dear, you may." Trinity sounded rather appalled by the travesty of green tea ice cream, but if Hama wanted it so badly, she'd relent. "Faizah, it would appear Hama would like to try the green flavor, should there be some to spare. And-" She paused and let out a long sigh, answering some question only she could hear. "And... do you keep those strange, salt brown stick-snacks around? Pretzels, I think. Trinsk wants something too, and I won't give him ice cream. He makes too much of a mess."

Faizah smiled. "Of course. There are pretzels in the cupboard, if you would like to get them." Faizah said and pointed to said cupboard before she began to get a small amount of green tea ice cream for the gold; Hama. Afterwards she scooped herself some green tea ice cream and then chocolate for Trinity.
Faizah thought for a few moments. Something for the wher...? What did she have that a wher might like? Not yogurt. Like Trinity said, there would be a mess. Cookies would leave crumbs. She didn't think the blue wher would like an apple or orange... Than she had it! There was a bag of cheddar bacon potatoe skins in the pantry. Maybe he would like those?
Faizah looked over to Trinity. "Would chips be something good to feed him?" She asked.

Trinity raised an eyebrow rather suavely. "Chips of what?" She inquired, completely misunderstanding the Weyrwoman. "I have no idea."
Hama squeaked excitedly at the woman who had the bowls of ice cream, spinning in a circle happily and bouncing up and pawing at Faziah's arm like a cat. ((Utter fail.))

Faizah laughed, bot because of Trinity's confusion and Hama's antics. Faizah put the bowl down on the table, not too close to Reyna, and then handed Trinity her bowl of chocolate ice cream. Faizah set her bowl on the table and went to the cupboard to get the chip bag. She opened it offered Trinity one after popping one into her mouth.
"They're good. Made from a vegetable that grows really well around here." Faizah explained.
((It's okay. As long as you don't mind my fail.))

Trinity went slightly red as she realized what Faizah was talking about. "Oh- those salty crispy things. I...um. Yes, those would be fine. He doesn't taste much of anything anyway, just guzzles it all down. Has a fondness for milk though." She stopped midthought at the realization she'd just said something like that, and she angrily glared at the ice cream.
"It's...um. Thank you. The ice cream stuff, it's good." Next to her, Hama had her nose buried in the cold stuff, happily munching away, though she occasionally pulled back her head to wipe her muzzle clean with the paws. And then wipe her paws on Trinity's sleeve. Trinity just eyes the greenish stain with some mixed amusement and long-suffering tolerance, and shrugged. "You know, there's this marvelous invention called the napkin, dearling."

Faizah smiled. That gold Hama was certainly entertaining with her antics. At the same time she was glad Reyna ate delicately.
Faizah pulled out a deep bowl and poured the moderate bag of potatoe skins into it. She handed the bowl to Trinity. "For your wher." She said simply.
