Only a few weeks after the hatching, Evander found himself alone in the dining hall. He arrived a bit late, having to make sure Gyerjtackalanth was fed and content before he allowed himself to get supper. With the green-grown asleep in their new weyr, and Evander's flitters keeping the lseeping dragon company, the Scot slipped into the dining hall. He glanced around at the half-empty area briefly, then went up to get his food. Loading his plate with a couple slices of turkey, and some mashed potatoes, Evander headed off to pick a seat.
He wasn’t picky, and managed to grab one near the front of the hall, uncomfortably close to the entrance, but that wasn’t going to bother him. On his own for the time being, the Scot had made tentative plans to eat dinner, then head to the common room to see what was on the TV. He was familiar with the channels and shows that were offered at Rocky, but none were particularly interesting until it became later at night. That’s when all the good sci-fi shows aired.
With that in mind, he sat down at his chosen table, chuckling to himself at the ruckus that a few riders were causing at a nearby table, and took a look at his food. He somehow managed to grab some vegetables as well, at which Evander raised an eyebrow. He didn’t remember that... Maybe taking care of his dragon was taking a toll on him, since he was getting little sleep. The Scot shrugged, and set to work, cutting up the slices of turkey into pieces.

Leirona had slipped out of her weyr as soon as Balderth had fallen asleep. She made her way to the dining hall, as her stomach was rumbling loudly. The female brownrider went quickly through the line, picking up something called "turkey" and an orange root-like food called "carrots". She also managed to swipe a roll and some "butter." She looked around for a spot.
The rider spotted a new weyrling at a table by himself. If she remembered correctly, he'd Impressed the green-brown Gyerjtackalanth. She made a bright smile and moved to sit next to him. Leirona plopped down in the seat to his left and waved. "Hello, weyrling. Name's Leirona. Whats yours? You Impressed Gyerjtackalanth, right?"

Lanrie looked over her shoulder as she left her weyr, smiling at Snith. The pale Green was just settling down, but Her's was hungry.
Mine, don't worry about me. I will take a nap on my ledge, i can Hear your stomach growling with hunger! Go on, and find someone to talk to. Smiling, Lanrie mentally nodded her head to Snith and walked down the hall. Her red tee and black jeans stood out strongly against her pale skin, and her white-blond hair fluttered behind the Weyrling as she moved quickly towards the dining hall.
When she came eto the door, Lanrie paused. There were probably ALOT of people in there...
Lanrhakah shook her head and went inside, decidedly not looking at anything but the place where the food was.
She grabbed a good sized portion of each thing- having skipped a meal, she was pretty hungry.
Holding her platter in one arm and a drink in the other hand, she stepped daway, an realized that most tables were filled or near to it.
Reminds me of school. Ugh. she thought.
But there was a table which had only two people sitting at it-- Lanrie walked over shyly and spoke hesitantly, afraid she was interrupting.
"um..hey.. Do you mind if I sit here too?" She wondered if she should introduce herself.
She recognized Evander from that drama-filled hatching not too long past. But the other young woman...

Engrossed in the task of cutting up slices of meat, Evander didn’t notice a woman sat down at his table. Eyes trained on his plate, Evander stuck out his tongue in a thoughtful and concentrating manner, making the familiar motions of a knife and fork working together. There was a soft plunk to his left of someone sitting down at the table, but that little motion was ignored for the sake of eating, as well as the fact that he hardly was paying attention. He lifted his fork, chunks of turkey on the end of it, and was about to shove the food into his mouth when...
"Hello, weyrling. Name's Leirona. What’s yours? You Impressed Gyerjtackalanth, right?"
He froze, and turned to his left. There was a woman sitting there! When did she get there?! “Ah’m Evander, and aye, Gyerjtackalanth es ma drahgon,” he responded quickly, completely forgetting to try and swallow his accent for the sake of the woman, knowing that people tended to have a hard time understanding him, especially if they were of Pernese origin. “Nice tae meet ye, Leirona,” Evander said, taking this chance to shovel the food on his fork into his mouth, only to have another lady approach.
“Mmf.” Evander had the fork in his mouth still, and pulled it out, lowering his arm so that his wrist rested on the wooden table. He raised his free hand, covering his mouth, and quickly tried to reply to the second woman. “Nouw, am domf mond,” the weyrling mumbled through his mouth full of food. He frowned. Not the best thing to do... Instead, the chimera weyrling shook his head, and motioned towards the table, as if asking her to sit down.

Lanrie paused, trying to hear through the other's thick accent. "uhh..." she started, then the blonde saw his gesture to sit down. She took a look at the other young woman, who seemed to be a Rider, and sat about a foot away from them. With a small half-smile she nodded. "Thanks" She noticed that it wasn't just his accent that made it hard for her to understand him- his mouth was full too! But laughing wouldn't be polite, not even! So she turned away, smiled, and started eating her food.
She wondered if she should try and talk to the other two. Mine, why don't you speak to them? You need to make friends. Snith interrupted her thoughts.
What? I thought you were taking a nap! But... I don't know what to say! She replied.

Leirona nodded as Evander spoke. She had a mouthful of food or else she would have told her name to the pair of weyrlings. She swallowed loudly and then took a drink. She turned to face Evander..although it bothered her to not use an honorific. "Name's Leirona, my dragon is Brown Balderth. He's napping at the moment."
She noticed the second girl looked rather nervous. She smiled softly and then shoveled a buttered roll in her mouth ungraciously. Leirona chewed for a few minutes before speaking again. "Why don't ya introduce yourself, hmm?" She waggled her fork around in a squiggly aerial design.

Mouth still full, Evander nodded as the blond-haired woman sat down. She wasn’t familiar, and then again, neither of the two woman at the table were. He knew one name, and the other was surprisingly gone. Wouldn’t she introduce herself...? The Scot made to talk, quickly swallowing the food in his mouth, uttering a short cough, and opened his mouth. He was beat out by Leirona, who introduced herself again. Satisfied with the assumption that she was about to start the conversation, Evander already started to eat again.
And there was silence. Everyone was in their own thoughts for the moment, and Evander frowned, furrowing his brow. However, Leirona spoke up again, addressing the newcomer, and seemed to nudge for her to introduce herself. Nodding rapidly again, Evander cleared his throat. “Right. Ah’m Evander...” he trailed off as his accent crept into his voice. He coughed, then continued, “I’m Evander, and I ride green-grown Gyerjtackalanth.” The Scot finished with slight nod of his head, a tinge of a blush on his cheeks as he had to use to awful American accent.

Lanrie smiled shyly at Evander, and looked away for a moment. Looking bavck at Leirona, she spoke, quietly. "Hello. I'm Lanrie... of Green Snith." She paused, then smiled , looking at Evander again. "I noticed your accent's scottish- I've never been out of this country- what is Scotland like?" She asked, trying to make some sort of conversation.
That's better. Have fun. Snith commented, before her mind-presence dimmed in sleep . Lanrie shook her head in surprise, and, nto wantign to confuse the other two, she explained quickly. "Snith just commented something to me even though i thought she was fast asleep... but anyway.."
