[ooc: IC-wise, this takes place one week after the Isath/Raynith’s hatching. I just got lazy.]
Of the damage done during the hatching, what happened to the blue weyrling Ku’rt was probably the most shocking. Eggs were stolen from the clutches, yes, but the sheer malice that the bronze had when he attacked was stunning. To those watching, it seemed that the attack was intentional. The bronze tried to get into the air, but at the last second thought it would be better to attack a weyrling. He angled down and landed on top of the unsuspecting blind blue and His. No doubt if there wasn’t the presence of the other dragons ready to protect the weyrling pair, the bronze would have finished the job--or his rider would have.
As a consequence, Ku’rt was thrown aside and knocked out cold. Aricoth didn’t fare any better. The poor blue was adorned with scratches, bruises, and cuts, not to mention the clearly broken limbs. Ku’rt recalled nothing after the bronze’s attack, and Aricoth’s memories had started to go fuzzy soon after he heard the news that Ku’rt was found. Gently, both dragon and rider were moved to the infirmary, and that’s where they lay for a good couple of days.
Aricoth had woken up before Ku’rt, and instantly tried to move around. He couldn’t. While asleep, someone had outfitted his limbs with casts, and splinted his wing carefully. The blue crooned loudly, unaware of what was going on until the doctor had stopped by, and quickly explained what happened, mindful of the blue’s thrashing tail. At the man’s request, Aricoth dipped his nose down to where the doctor led it. He touched Ku’rt’s still body with a tender snout, and quickly fell back asleep.
Ku’rt awoke to find himself figuratively confined to the bed. He was too sore to move, save for a low groan and him moving his head to the side. Through blurry eyes, the weyrling saw his blue, within arm’s reach, and in the same predicament as him, though the term was literal. The blue wouldn’t be able to move for a number of weeks, such was the extent of the damage. And he was scarred from head to toe. Ku’rt frowned and instantly tried to sit up, wanting to comfort his blue.
Instead, he screwed his eyes shut and let out a hiss of pain between clenched teeth. Not. A. Good. Idea. Falling back against the pillow, Ku’rt resigned himself to laying there, drifting in and out of sleep. After a few hours, he raised an arm, slowly, to his head, touching the thick padding that was replaced only an hour before. He hit his head? How...? When? The last thing the weyrling remembered was the hatching, and the dragons that tried to steal eggs.
Ku’rt...? Aricoth asked, his voice quiet and low, mindful of his bonded’s injured head. Ku’rt, Mine, are you okay?
“Mmm... Aricoth... I am, I guess...” he hoarsely whispered. He opened one eye to see Aricoth’s head slightly lifted and watching him. His body covered in scabbing scars, Ku’rt was somewhat glad that the blue was blind, so that he wouldn’t have to see what happened to his otherwise perfect hide. “How long...?” he meant to ask, but he swallowed the words. “Where’s Luna?” the weyrling asked instead.
The blue moved forward to nose Ku’rt. She has been around... I told her that she didn’t have to stay, because I would watch over you, Aricoth assured the weyrling, though the dragon was in no position to move either. Ku’rt smiled in return as he reached over to pat the blue’s nose.

((Hope you don't mind me throwing Faizah and perhaps Kain in here.))
Faizah walked quietly into the Infirmiry. She wanted to check on Ku'rt and Aricoth. She hadbeen told that the rider was in and out of sleep that day. She hoped he wasn't trying to rise to care for the blue. The young dragon was very much safe and cared for. And there was nothing Ku'rt could do for Aricoth from with his injuries.
Faizah noticed a doctor. She hailed him to stop as she quietly approached. "How's he doing? I was told he has been awake?" She whispered. She didn't know why.

[ooc: Nope. I dun mind. It’s open for a reason. ] The weyrwoman was visiting the infirmary, and Doctor Krenshaw thought it would be appropriate to make his way towards her. “Weyrwoman,” he greeted the higher-ranked lady, dipping his head respectfully. “Yes, he has been waking up. He hasn’t been moved since arriving, and that’s fine. It’s better not to move him anyway, with a head injury like that. His blue has been worried, but thankfully not protective.” The doctor said all this in a low whisper as well, figuring that if Faizah was going it, he might as well. “You can visit if you like,” he suggested, figuring that knowing the Weyrwoman was worried for him would somehow help the weyrling. “Just be mindful of his head. Loud noises are bad, and the blue tends to tense up when people approach without warning. Make sure he knows that you’re coming before you approach.” He stepped to the side, allowing Weyrwoman Faizah further inside. “And don’t feel offended if he falls asleep,” the doctor added quickly. * * * From his position, Ku’rt could see the entrance of the infirmary, and he noticed Faizah was there, recognizing her distinctive red hair, talking with someone else. He couldn’t make out what they were saying, or doing, since the weyrling’s eyelids were heavy and drooping every couple of seconds. “Luna’s fine? That’s good. Could you call her, Aricoth?” Ku’rt whispered, “I want her... to know that I’m fine...” I will call her, Ku’rt,[/i] the blue responded lowly. He sent the green fire lizard a quick message, telling her to come but to be quiet, because His was tired, and didn’t need to be distracted. It was moments later that the green flitter popped in from between, not even finishing a circle in the air before landing on the table next to Ku’rt’s bed. Luna is here,[/i] Aricoth felt compelled to tell the weyrling, though he was sure Ku’rt already noticed. “Thank you, Aricoth.” Ku’rt moved a arm towards the flitter, and Luna inched closer, chirping sadly. She licked at his finger, and Ku’rt smiled. “Good girl, Luna. You were smart,” he praised the flitter, slowly scratching at her chin as she arched her back in pleasure at being praised, and from the weyrling’s actions.

Faizah nodded thanks to the doctor as she tiptoed over to Ku'rt. When she was close enough to be sure Aricoth could hear her, she spoke calmly to him. "It's Faizah, Aricoth. I've come to see how you and Ku'rt are doing. Hello to you too, Luna."
Faizah had noticed the green fire lizard come from between just a moment ago. She smiled at the caring gesture of her licking his hand. Firelizards were good for showing the affection so many people craved. Dragons were too.
Faizah shook herself from her thoughts. She finished the short walk to the side of the Infirmiry bed. She took a seat in the usual doctor turning chair and peered at the injured boy. "You awake, Ku'rt?"

While Ku’rt was occupied with the green flitter, Aricoth shifted, trying to get more comfortable. Or at least as comfortable as his battered body would allow. He took to lowering his head as close to his bonded as he could. The blue relied on Luna’s minute directions to move his head until it was snug against Ku’rt. Resting now, Aricoth’s more sensitive hearing picked up the sound of soft footsteps. The blue tensed, and he was sure that Ku’rt could feel it as well. There was someone... Someone coming over. He didn’t want them. No, they couldn’t get closer. Not closer to His. No!
"It's Faizah, Aricoth. I've come to see how you and Ku'rt are doing. Hello to you too, Luna."
Aricoth, who had been doing his best to put himself between the stranger and the injured boy, was still visibly tense. He wanted to run, but he couldn’t. He wanted to protect Ku’rt, but he was too shy to. Hearing the weyrwoman’s voice helped the blue loosen up, but he still was worried on the inside. He started to shiver, his breathing somewhat ragged, and his mind yelling at him to not trust anyone. K-ku’rt. he started to whine, before the weyrling placed a shaking hand on the blue’s snout.
“Aricoth,” Ku’rt assured the blue, “It’s just Faizah. I trust her. You can trust her. She doesn’t want to harm me.” The weyrling yawned, instinctively moving his hand to cover his mouth, only to flinch when pain shot up his arm. His hissed, clenching his teeth. “I have to be more careful...” The sudden shock woke him up, and he was no longer tired--not that he would be around the Weyrwoman, since she had pulled over a chair to sit next to his bed.
Flexing, Luna moved so that Ku’rt’s hand was now above her, and scratching her back. The green fire lizard crooned at Faizah, earning a smile from Ku’rt. “Hi Werywoman. I’m awake. And I don’t think Luna’s going to allow me to fall asleep again anytime soon, now that I’m giving her the attention that she’s needed for so long.” The blue weyrling grinned, glancing down at the fire lizard, before returning his gaze to his red-haired superior.

Faizah smiled. "Aricoth doesn't seem to like the idea of visitors so near you. But how are you feeling, anyway? I think you scared the life from half the Weyr." Faizah spoke in low whispers, remembering the pain caused from head wounds. When she had had her concussion sound had hurt more than movement.
Faizah thought back to the hatching and the theft of the eggs. She bit her bottom lip in though. She often worried about the fate of those four eggs. And she desperatly wanted to know who had taken them. If Ammon knew he could get a squad to go and... Do something! Even just spying on the country that had stolen them would be infinately better than having nothing to do. Faizah hoped the eggs had survived.

Ku’rt’s smile faded when the Weyrwoman mentioned Aricoth’s nervousness. However, as she continued on, asking how he was feeling, Ku’rt smiled warmly up at her. He wiggled, sitting up further in the bed, so that he could lean against the back, instead of laying flat on his back. “You know, it’s not just you,” he started to assure the weyrwoman. “Like you said, he doesn’t like visitors, but it’s not that they are close to me.” The weyrling looked sadly towards the blind blue dragon.
“He’s blind, you know that, and his blindness only makes him more skittish than he would have been if he could see. The incident at the hatching didn’t help his confidence at all. He didn’t see the bronze coming, so he’s now wary of anyone that tries to approach,” Ku’rt helpfully explained, while stroking both Luna and Aricoth under opposite hands. The blue had calmed down a bit, seeing that Ku’rt was not worried, but he still felt tense under the weyrling’s fingers.
Pausing for a moment to turn his attention to Aricoth, the blue weyrling hummed softly, sending soothing emotions over the link between rider and dragon. “I’m feeling good, I guess.” Ku’rt didn’t take his eyes off of the shuddering form of his blue. “I’m tired... Sore... And I can hardly move. My head hurts when things get too loud--so thanks for keeping your voice low, Werywoman--and I’m getting a bit restless here, but it’s not too bad.” He looked back at Faizah, a tinge of sadness in his eyes. “How long was I out? How long has it been since the hatching?”

"A week you've been out. Thankfully, the events of the hatching seems to have faded from dragon memory. Riders don't bring it up most of the time. Ammon is searching for any developments in other countries that might hint at a hatchling, but so far nothing." Faizah glanced over at Aricoth's tense form. She looked back at Ku'rt. "Maybe an assurance from Surth will help calm him?" She gestured slightly to the blue.
Reyna appeared from between, trilling lowly to Aricoth to alert him to her entrance. She landed delicately on Faizah's shoulder and crooned at them. Her eyes whirled with mirth and a hint of worry. Faizah stroked her back as she spoke again.
"I had a head injury once. Bad concussion. I know how your head feels." She offered a small smile.

“A week?!” Ku’rt exclaimed, his eyes going wide, and his voice increasing in pitch to a painful level. With a wince, he clamped his mouth shut. “A whole week?” he repeated, his voice much softer. Under his hand, Ku’rt felt Aricoth wiggle. “And what about Aricoth? And what happened to us? All I remember is the bronze dragon stealing eggs, then heading straight for us...” There was a tinge of pain from Aricoth’s side of the mental link as the blue recalled what happened.
The weyrling frowned. “I’m sorry, Aricoth. I didn’t mean...” He let his voice dwindle to nothing but a faint whisper. Ku’rt nodded sullenly at Faizah. “Maybe that would be nice. I can’t imagine Aricoth ever being the same... I don’t know. Is he always going to be jumpy, and nervous if someone tries to come near now?” As the weyrling felt water beginning to well up in his eyes, he was grateful for Reyna choosing to disturb the moment and distract Faizah enough for him to try to discretely wipe the tears from his face.
The gold flitter’s appearance didn’t bother Aricoth as much as a person’s would. With Luna constantly coming by to check on Ku’rt, the blue found comfort in the green fire lizard’s presence. As such, he crooned softly to Reyna in response, never moving his head from where it rested on the bed next to Ku’rt’s sheet-covered body. Luna trilled a low greeting to the gold as well, curling up more under Ku’rt hand.
With a small sniff, which unfortunately made Ku’rt’s head hurt, the weyrling rubbed at his eye again. “Yeah, it’s not that fun,” Ku’rt commented, trying to smile, but only half-managing it before he let it fall, and averted his eyes.

Faizah reached out to Surth. Would you assure Aricoth? I'm worried with him being so tense.
Of course, mine. Surth said before he reached out to reassure the blind blue. Aricoth. You and Yours are quite safe. Faizah-mine will not hurt Yours and will alert you if anyone else approaches.
Faizah thanked Surth, then turned her attention back to the pair before her. "I don't know when Aricoth woke. What happened... The bronze grabbed the eggs and tried to get away. He lost altitude and just happened to land on the two of you. Caused quite a bit of damage." Faizah glanced over at Aricoth. "I don't think he will be jumpy forever. For a long while, yes. It's only expected. But he will be more apprhensive and weary from now on." Faizah cracked a small smile. "No. Not fun at all. In a few days I'm sure they can give you something for the pain though."
Reyna chirped comfortingly to Aricoth. She sent him an image of herself, Luna, Ku'rt and Faizah while also sending a warm feeling over. It was meant to comfort Aricoth.

Under Ku’rt’s gentle hand, Aricoth shuddered. No... No... he started to whine again. There was another voice in his head that was not his or Ku’rt’s, and he didn’t want it there. And at the same time, white Surth’s voice was a welcome one that he trusted since his early days at the weyr. No, Surth... Are they gone? Is he gone? Ku’rt is alright, right? I don’t... I don’t want to leave him. I can’t leave him. I need him. The blue’s voice washed over both Surth and Ku’rt.
The weyrling was fairly certain that everyone within a good radius of the blue would be able to hear his mental pleas too. “Aricoth, I’m fine. I’m here. Can’t you feel my hand?” He moved his sore arm to rest his fingers on the blue dragon’s eyeridges, and helpfully scratched at them. “See? Don’t worry. Surth is trying to help. You’re too tense. You need to calm down. Don’t worry so much, because I’m here, and everyone at the weyr is watching over me.” While he tried to reassure the dragon, Ku’rt didn’t notice the light stream of tears that were now silently traveling down his cheeks.
Aricoth’s original whines were now soft whimpers. Don’t leave. Ku’rt, Mine, don’t leave, he mewed, moving so that his scarred head was pressed painfully against Ku’rt’s body. Don’t. His couldn’t leave. Aricoth wouldn’t allow him too. Because what if the blue couldn’t find him again? Like he couldn’t that week ago? Reyna’s comforting feelings seemed to drown in Aricoth’s worry, but he did feel a twinge of support from his golden cousin.
“I’m not going to leave... I can’t, can I?” Ku’rt moved his arms, uncovering Luna, to wrap around the blue’s head as much as he dared, still wary of the scars and bruises. Swallowing a grunt, Ku’rt rested his cheek against Aricoth’s forehead, looking over at Faizah briefly. “He’s so shaken up. He’s not going to be the same. I’ll have to constantly be at his side, like I was when he was just a hatchling,” the weyrling muttered, his usually optimistic flair no longer working.

Ku'rt is fine. He is safe. He is next to you. Ku'rt will not leave you. No one will hurt him. Surth assured the distressed blue.
Reyna trilled sadly. She fluttered over to him, gently rubbing her head against the bottom of Aricoth's chin. She tried to reassure him by once again sending him thoughts, soothing now.
"And like when he was a hatchling, he will bounce back. Just give him time. All young creatures have a tendancy to jump right back up from a bad event. Both of you simply need time." Faizah assured Ku'rt.

[ooc: Is ‘kay. XD I’m having fun roleplaying an emotion that I usually never get to play.]
As Aricoth’s soft whimpers settled, Ku’rt started rubbing the blue’s scarred hide. “Surth wants to help. He wouldn’t lie, and you know that. You’ve known him for a long time.” When Reyna shuffled over to the blue, landing nearby and nuzzling the dragon’s chin, Ku’rt shifted so that he wasn’t in the way. “Thanks Reyna,” Ku’rt commented on the gold, “And you too, Faizah. And Surth. Tell him I say thank you. We both probably have known you the longest out of everyone else at the weyr.”
A small green shape crept up Ku’rt’s leg and torso, to curl around the weyrling’s shoulders. He briefly let go of Aricoth to pat the fire lizard’s head. “And I’m sure that Aricoth appreciates it... I’m sure that just knowing that you three are here is making him feel better.” Giving a little sniff, Ku’rt reached up to rub his irritated eye, only to realize that he was crying. Blushing slightly, Ku’rt quickly pulled up the bed sheets and dried off his face.
He pursed his lips, glancing from the Weyrwoman to Aricoth, then Reyna by the dragon’s head, before finally nodding. “Yeah, I guess. Wait and see what happens. He’ll be fine, I’m sure. Did anything happen while I was... Well, while I was in here?” the weyrling had to ask, curious. “I didn’t miss anything big, did I? That would be awful.”

Ku'rt wants to thank you, Surth. Faizah told her white.
Faizah listened to Ku'rt calmly. She smiled when his green wrapped herself around his shoulders. It was good for Ku'rt to have visitors. She politely averted her eyes when Ku'rt reached up to wipe his tears away.
"No. Just the hatching feast. The Weyr has been surprisingly calm and boring this week..." Faizah said.
((Sorry again. My brain isn't really working yet.))

“Oh, just the hatching feast?” Ku’rt frowned. He missed a party! “Aww... Well, it could have been worse, right?” he commented with a smile. Rebounding as if he hadn’t just be worried for how Aricoth would ever be the same, Ku’rt smiled up at the red-headed weyrwoman. “He didn’t happen to mention how long I’d be in here for, did he? And same goes with Aricoth. I know a head wound is worse... But Aricoth can hardly move...”
At the mention of his name, the blue dragon opened his uninjured eye. The gesture was worthless to the blind blue, but it served its purpose of letting others know that Aricoth was awake, and listening to what they had to say. Ku’rt... the wounded dragon started sadly, but was stopped by the weyrling’s hand soothingly stroking the untouched parts of his hide.
Ku’rt hummed softly towards the blue. “Nothing too bad happened to Aricoth, right? He won’t be able to leave for a couple sevendays, at the least... Not with those injuries.” He motioned to the stiff casts that encased the blue’s limbs, and the splint on his wing. Temporarily forgetting he hit his head, Ku’rt reached up to run a hand through his hair, only to wince when his fingers brushed the sensitive area. That was stupid. “I’ll stay with him. He stayed with me, so I have to do the same. Plus, I’m his rider. I’m not about to leave him now.”

"Nothing too bad happened to Aricoth. He injured himself more from panicking afterwards than from the initial accident. And no, the doctor didn't mention how long you'll be staying here." Faizah mentioned.
(Sorry. Not much inspiration))
