IC DATE/TIME: Week of June 19, 2011 Time: Mid-afternoon Halderoth was happily spread out like a great big peacock-colored cat on the flat, warm grass of the weyrbowl. Tag was leaning up against him, half-asleep, just relaxing. It was nice out today, the sky was clear, and there was a slight breeze, and Halderoth's hide was warm from the sun. Both dragon and rider were exceedingly comfortable, and not at all inclined to move at the moment. In fact, even speaking was becoming a wearying effort. Halderoth had it easy, Tag decided, he didn't even have to speak. Oh, but it takes such effort... The dragon sent sleepily, it's thoughts tinged with happy and warm and the smell of the sweet grass under his muzzle. Whatever. Tag sent back, not even bothering to speak aloud. It's still easier than actually moving your mouth... He closed his eyes and settled into a slightly more comfortable position. The sun felt quite nice right there, and he didn't even care that he was going to likely get an awful sunburn later. Oh dear. We are being horridly lazy today, are we not, mine K'neth? Halderoth mused. But the dragon made no move to get up or even attempt to rectify the situation. Yup. And I'm so comfy right now, I'm not even gonna smack you for using that name.

Isath and Nakia were taking a walk, trying to get out of the crampness of the weyr. Isath's stomach was bulging from her clutch and Nakia was just a grump today. Isath stopped for a moment, laying down and resting for a moment. She took a deep breath and caught a scent that wasn't all the normal, even around Rocky.
She got up and trudged towards where the scent was coming from. There. A green and blue, yet neither male nor female. Another Chimera...
Nakia followed her green gold, then stopped dead in her tracks as she saw the dragon before them. "Isath... Is it...?" Nakia didn't finish her sentence as Isath silently consented it.
((Sorry for the fail post...))

Halderoth opened one eyes, the colors swirling a lazy content teal with the faintest annoyed tinge of orange at being disturbed. Company. Halderoth said bluntly.
Tag grunted and debated swearing. It still wasn't worth the effort. Anyone important? The mixed-color female. Isath. Hal replied. Should I greet her?[/color] Tag sat up then, shielding his eyes with one hand to get a better look. Oh, crud. It was the other mixed dragon- what had they said the technical name for them was? Chimera?
"C'mon. You know it's not nice to be rude to a lady." Tag finally said, waving a hand to the green-gold and her rider. Hal let out a tired sigh and raised it's head, still seeming put out by the effort and involvement required in greeting them, but it complied.
If you are going to stare, at least do so in comfort. Come join us, Isath. You cannot possibly be comfortable so laden with eggs as you are. Halderoth didn't mean to sound rude, but it was a very blunt creature and hardly fond of force social niceties. Still, it's very distinctly neutral voice was nothing less than polite.

Isath purred as she took Halderoth's offer. She made herself comfortable across from the other chimera, laying on her side slightly as hersNakia took a seat against her bugling stomach. Isath then turned her attention to quietly sunning as Nakia conversed with the other rider.
"Hi, I'm Nakia Pandora." Nakia waved slightly at her fellow chimera rider.
((Again, sorry for the fail... -_-))

((Lol. S'okay.))
Tag stifled a yawn and then blushed slightly at his unintentional rudeness. "Sorry. Uh, Tag...Kenneth MacTaggarty, if you want the full name." K'neth, he is called, for being a rider. Halderoth interjected, and the chimera made no secret of it's amusement in the fact that it knew very well it was annoying it's bonded a great deal every time it said that.
When Isath purred, Halderoth tilted it's head to one side, curious. She was pleased? Well that was new. And odd. Had Halderoth said something kind? Or was she just happy? It didn't fully understand, and it gave the female a confused look for a moment before letting the moment pass and going back to focusing on the warm sunshine.
Tag just watched his dragon passively for a moment, then sighed. "I swear, he does that on purpose."

Nakia nodded. "They have a habit of doing that, don't they? Isath loves to do things that annoy me and others." Nakia said as shifted to make herself more comfortable.
I am pleased. There are other Chimeras like I. And the sun is very nice today. Isath said to the green/blue.
((I just suck lately...))

Tag laughed, happy. "Yep! Maybe that's one of the big secrets about dragons...they're intentionally obnoxious as a test." He snickered again, and shook his head.
Halderoth rumbled happily, and bowed it's head deferentially to Isath. Indeed. The sun is most pleasant... It sighed peacefully, and closed it's eyes. I cannot think of a nicer way to spend the afternoon.
((I should rig a color-fade voice for Hal soon...Just dunno how.))

Isath closed her eyes as well, absorbing the sun's heat and the gentle conversation between Hers and the other chimera rider.
Nakia smiled slightly. "I wouldn't call Isath obnoxious, exactly. She just knows what she wants and is independent. She doesn't take no for an answer." Nakia said. She stopped for a moment. "Yeah, obnoxious is a rather good fit."

Tag had his eyes closed again, leaning back into Halderoth's body, but he spread his hands in a 'there you go' sort of gesture. "Like I said. Obnoxious." Obnoxious? Not I. You, perhaps, beloved, could be called obnoxious, but a dragon is not obnoxious. Merely correct even when ours do not wish us to be.
Tag fake-sneezed. "What was that? I'm sorry, I'm allergic to bullshit." He muttered with a smirk.
Is that so. Hal simply responded dryly. And then it shifted it's bulk in a manner that resulted in Tag losing all the support he'd been leaning on and falling on his back in the grass. Tag just sighed and glowered at the sky.
"I repeat- Like I said, OBNOXIOUS. And mean."

At the exchange between rider and dragon Nakia watch quietly. However, when Tag sneezed and said he was allergic to bullshit, she arched a perfect golden eyebrow. She had used that line a number of times with previous friends, lovers, enemies and even her siblings. Nakia stroked Isath's bulging belly as she watched the other man and his dragon.
Isath just continued to sun. She practically ignored all that was going on around her.
Nakia watched as Tag was deposited onto the ground. She couldn't help but smile. A small bell like laugh even emerged from between her tightly pressed together lips.

Tag just made an aggravated noise from the ground and flailed his arms in the air. "You're laughing at me. Not that I don't deserve it, but still. And I suppose I can't complain, because you've got a pretty little laugh, too."
Halderoth arched his neck around and nosed him in the chest. You deserve it.
Tag swatted him. "Ignoring you. Nakia, then. How's Isath doing? She seems well enough. I suppose, actually, I should be asking how you are. "

Nakia smiled. "I don't know if you deserved it. Isath is fine, however. Enjoying the sun. And I am fine as well, although I admit a bit bored at times. My sister doesn't allow me to do much, and what she will let me do I refuse to do. There are drudges for a reason, and certainly not for me to get my hands dirty." She said vehemently.
Faizah may be the Weyrwoman, but it was a false title. On Pern only gold riders could be Weyrwomen. And then only the eldest gold was the Queen. So therefor, Isath and she should be the Weyrwoman and Queen. Nakia began muttering to herself about the injustice.

Tag's lips quirked into a wry smile. "My, my, aren't we just a little miffed about having to do our chorse." He drawled, and though he was saying it as if being gently chiding and good-natured, he was a little surprised by her attitude. Then again, he didn't really know her that well, so who was he to judge?
At the same time, he felt the need to sort of point out a flaw in her logic- well, what of her logic he could understand from her muttering. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news," He said, though he wasn't that put out about it, "but you're neither the rider of the eldest queen, nor a rider of a true queen. As much love as I have for the lovely blended chimeras that seem to be cropping up, Isath is both a green and a Gold. As for the other fact, well, she's not the eldest queen. I';m pretty sure that Caleth, Fayeth and Laskath are all Isath's elders." He finished.
"But who am I to judge if a pretty little thing like you is put off by hard labor? it's a lot of work dealing with a dragon like this, on top of eking out a life here in the mountains like a bunch of Hermits." He carefully kept his expression neutral, a little curious to see how she might take his rather forward outburst.

Nakia shrugged. She purposefully ignored the jibe about chores. "I never see those golds around. And Isath is as much a gold as them. I bet you she will clutch one with bronze on him. Even if it might be a chimera."
Nakia listened as he discussed slightly taking care of a dragon. Her greenish blue eyes darkened. "I have no problem caring for Isath. Or "dealing" with her, for that matter. It is the business of doing dishes or cleaning the dining hall when there are perfectly capable drudges to do so. Even on Pern a rider wasn't told to do the dishes, even if their sister was a false Weyrwoman."

Tag raised an eyebrow, his expression having gone rather more serious. "False...? Huh. Coming from a girl who wouldn't be even considered a true rider on Pern, you'd call your sister a false Weyrwoman? She's got the leadership skills, and the willingness to take care of her own. And a weyr full of dragons willing to follow her." He paused, trying to remember to be nice, but he was a little annoyed by her holier-than-thou attitude.
"If you want to be Weyrwoman, bring it up with someone. Or act like one." At this last statement, Halderoth's head snapped up, eyes whirling a concerned orange-yellow. Mine. Do not act as such. She is part queen, that is true enough. And by rule of Tradition, as Isath is the second queen to rise, she should be Junior Weyrwoman.
Tag just grunted, and glanced away. He absently ran a hand through his hair, and shook his head after a long moment. "Maybe I can't understand because I'm not from Pern. But....neither are you, really. But it isn't my place to decide these things." He said with a sigh.

((No one can say Nakia doesn't have attitude...))
Isath opened an eye, whirling with anxiety, and looked at her rider. She crooned softly, trying to quell Nakia's bruised and inflammed pride. If there was only one thing that both Faizah and Nakia shared, besides the monster called their mother, it was that they were both very proud; in different ways.
Where Faizah was proud of her accomplishments, Nakia was proud only of the power that came with a ranking position. Her discontent came more from being bested by a low ranking dragon, a white, than from wanting the responsibility of the Weyr and it's residents. Responsibilty was where Nakia wanted gold duties to end. Nakia wanted no more responsibiliy than Isath and her various fire lizards.
Nakia controlled herself and turned to Isath. "Do not fret so, love. I am fine." Nakia scratched Isath's eyeridges. She needed to calm the pregnant dragon before something happened to her or the eggs.

Tag regarded them calmly, unfazed by the girl's reaction. He'd really could have cared less about rank and file; he'd been persona non Grata for so long that it hardly mattered who thought what about him. That's what you get when you spend every moment since you were thirteen trying to pretend that the remarks of the other students about how you were some sort of lesser being because of who you liked, because of the fact you weren't like them, pretending it didn't hurt...
After a while, you began to shrug most everything off. He closed his eyes, and rubbed his forehead. "I'm sorry." he said eventually. "I spoke out of turn..." His voice had gone rather cold, but he didn't seem insincere. "Haven't you at least spoken to your sister about this...?

Nakia shrugged. She tried to calm herself down, not only for Isath's sake, but because this Tad guy could be a friend. And if not, atleast he spoke to her.
"Faizah won't hear of it. She says I'm not responsible enough to be Weyrwoman. Even though Isath is part gold, and the first gold dragon to Rise." Nakia had to fight herself so that her voice wouldn't hold the normal venom she reserved for her sister.

"Huh. Well, responsibility..." He shrugged. "That much I get. At least, from a logical standpoint." He contemplated this for a bit, and Halderoth even bothered to open one eye to examine him. He just waved a hand at the dragon, and smiled. "But by tradition, yes, i suppose you should be junior weyrwoman...well, actually, not even Junior, necessarily. I seem to remember that certain weyrs, the ones with more than two queens, just equate all of their Riders after the Weyrwoman proper as weyrwomen; ah, the capitalization and rank gets a little hairy from there, but..." He spread his hands and gestured to the weyr.
"Maybe you should suggest that. You could possibly get at least a voice in on Weyr issues, and get, I don't know, maybe like, training for being a Weyrwoman later?"

Nakia shrugged. She wanted power, that much was true. Faizah was still ticked from the last time Nakia had insisted on being Weyrwoman. She should give her sister a few days before Nakia brought it up again... That would be wise.
When was Nakia wise, however? Not any time in her life.
((Sorry for the fail))
