IC Date: Nov. 6th Time: 5 am
Akira and Fogleth stood at the edge of the lake early in the morning, Akira shivering in the morning air while Fogleth looked at her confused. The flits, James, Lilly and Alexandria flew around chasing each other in what appeared to be the flit version of tag. "Why did i have to decided to do this in the fall?"
Fogleth cocked his draconic head to the side, What are you doing, Mine?
"Something I remember doing all the time at camp... Polarbear."
Mine, Fogleth doesn't know what that is. As he spoke up, Akira grinned at dove into the water. Mine! What are you doing? The water is cold!
Akira surfaced teeth chattering, "That is polarbear...swimming in freezing cold water early in the morning hoping you don't get a cold."
Fogleth backed up some from the water and settled down to watch his fool around in the water, unsure if he wanted to join her in the water.

Dan came cautiously to the bank of the lake. He had ridden Streeth to the feeding grounds and so came around the long way to were he could see Akira's Blue, Fogleth. But Akira was nowhere to be seen. She had invited him here so where was she? Maybe he had gotten the day wrong? But then why was her Dragon here?
Walking over to the young Blue, he prepared to inquire after the whereabouts of his Rider. But then he heard a splashing and looked out over the water. It would have to be a pretty big fish to make a spl- "What?!?" Daniel exclaimed in surprise. For what was splashing in the lake was not a fish, but Akira. "What are you doing in there? Come out this instant! Its November, for goodness sake! You're gonna get a cold and die of pneumonia! And it'll be all my fault!" As he complained, he waved his arms about in an exasperated manor and hopped up and down, effectively taking all the seriousness out of what he said.
As he finished his lamenting, Streeth landed next to him. He had apparently finished eating and had come over to see what 'enjoying the fall' meant. What he saw did not look very enjoyable.
D'nielMine, what are you doing?
"I am yelling at Akira for such foolishness. What if she dies??? Then what will I do??"
Streeth thought about this for a moment. Then replied, I do not think she could possibly die. He stuck his tail into the frigged water without even a shiver. See? I am not dead.
"Well, its different. You are a Dragon!" Daniel was getting desperate. Why was nobody listening to reason? What was this insanity!
The Blue dragon gave a little snort. I do not think so. I will show you. And with that he gently grabbed Daniel, fortunately having already shed his riding gear, and jumped into the lake.
"Ahhhhhhhh!" Daniel shouted from the horrid cold. "Why do people think this is enjoyable!?!?!," He cried.
Oblivious to the bellyaching of HisRider, and with water running down his side in rivulets, the dragon said, See? Isn't this fun?

Akira heard Daniel's shouts and turned towards him, laughing. "The most I will get is a cold, whre i grew up... we would do this in the winter and also do a reindeer run. Don't worry Daniel, a little cold never hurt anyone."
Her eyes spotted Streeth flying down and her grin widened, 'This is about to get interesting.' the weyrling thought to herself. Watching the big blue stick his tail in the water made Akira chuckle lightly. 'It seems Streeth doesn't think the water is cold either. ... why do his eyes look like he is up to mischief...?'
Akira's thoughts were answered when she burst out laughing from Streeth's next move. Hearing Daniel complain the girl swam closer to the pair and playfully splashed the boy. "Its not that cold once you get adjusted a little."
Fogleth saw the older dragon in the water and made up his mind, the little blue stepped back several body lengths and charged foreward, leaping into the water.Mine, I don't see why BigCousinStreeth's is upset. The water is not cold.
"Fogleth, humans are much more sensitive to the cold water because we don't have the same kind of protection you dragons do."
Mine, humans are strange. The little blue said paddling closer to his a gleam in his eyes. He took a hold of Akira's shirt back and dunked her under before letting go and swimming away. When she surfaced Akira looked indignantly after Fogleth and grumbled to herself as she rubbed her arms to warm back up a little. Turning to face Daniel she said, "So... the water is a little cold afterall."

Tahli had been on the opposite side of the lake when she saw a girl jump into the frigid waters. She chuckled softly. It would have been funnier had she tried that at the lakes near High Ridges, where it was MUCH colder. She stood up from her favorite tree and walked around to the other side of the lake, where the two blueriders had gathered.
Relanth sprang up from under the chilly waters, having munched on several fish. He spotted both Streeth and the younger Fogleth with his one remaining eye and crooned. Fogleth, what has gotten into your Akira? Doesn't she know that the water is cold enough to kill humans this time of year?
The bluerider shook her head at Relanth and sighed. "Yeah, great job bud, scare the weyrling blue half to death by saying his human could die in the cold water. The elder blue just snorted and turned his empty eye socket to Tahli. I was just saying that to warn Fogleth to tell his Akira to be more careful.

Gideon simply stayed where he was. Dark hair fell across his eyes as he watched the three dragons and their partners in silence, the only indication of the young man's presence being the faint trail of smoke coming from where he was skulking beneath a tree by the lake.
"Polar bear swim, eh?" He muttered, sneering slightly. "F***ing ridiculous. No reason to freeze your ass off in the middle of f***ing November." He growled again, but he stood up, absently putting out the end of his cigarette on the back of his other hand without really thinking about it.
With a grunt of greeting, he sidled over to the young woman with the bizarre one-eyed dragon and raised an eyebrow from under his scruffy bangs. "What 'appened to it? Lose a fight with a f***ing tree or somethin'?" He asked with nothing in the way of greeting.
Immediately, he felt a presence in his head, and he glanced over his shoulder to see a large black shape on the far side of the cliffs that served as the dragon's lairs. Damn. Freaking nosy bastard, did he always have to be watched over like some addled child? He saw the black dragon settle down on the weyr ledge and stare directly at him, and he got a distinct sense that yes, indeed, he would be looked after until someone told the dragon otherwise.
Gideon just scowled and kicked a rock into the water. "Damnit. Is your dragon so goddamn annoying?" He said, an air of boredom in his tone. "Meh."
((Sorry. Gideon's....a jerk. And swears a LOT. And has a Skirth constantly looking over his shoulder. Sorry if he's a jerk to anyone!))

Which was about the point at which a couple of weyrlings sauntered up. Tad and Loren were not exactly together so much as happening to arrive at the same time.
Tad headed past the group to the lake, but Loren fixed dark eyes on Gideon. "Insulting other people's dragons is something you might only grasp the wrongness of once you have your own."
She glanced behind her...Kimath was already padding past her, the paler blue heading for the lake. Woruth, though, settled to his haunches, regarding Gideon.
The blue had a lot of growing to do yet and was, after all, only a blue. That did not mean he was not quite a large creature. "You'll get it, though," the smallish girl added, brushing back her raven-black hair. She was clearly from Earth by her appearance and accent.

The hour was early, and Hy’ka found himself grudgingly pulling himself out of bed. Brynath insisted on it. “So.. Why did ya want meh to git up thi’ early...?” he mumbled to the chimera dragon, his eyes half-closed as he pulled on a pair of pants. “Is so early...” the rider muttered, his head dropping down so that his chin rested on his chest. “I don’t wan’ to be up thi’ early. An’ I dun thin’ Kivral does either...” However, Supernova was of a different mind. She was up, like the blue dragon, and flitting about Hy’ka’s head.
Supernova wants you to get up. Plus, I heard some dragons were going down to the lake this early in the morning. I wanted to go, the blue whined, his swirling blue eyes staring at Hy’ka’s hunched form. Come on Hy'ka. You'll see how much fun we're having, and then you won't be tired.
“Alrigh’, alrigh’...” Hy’ka stood up, stretching gently, and slipped into an older and more tattered tunic of his. No sense in dressing up. He needed new clothes anyway. His Pernese tunics weren’t going to last for much longer. The experienced rider didn’t bother with flying leathers, though it was a good idea, but he wasn’t thinking clearly, as evident by his awkwardly-fitting pants. “Ugh... I need new pants... They aren’t fitting anymore...” Hy’ka blinked furiously, and climbed onto Brynath’s back. “Go on,” he waved lazily, patting the dragon’s neck.
The blue took off. He was in the air in an instant, and quickly winked between. Moments later, the pair popped out of the cold of between above the lake. Below, a number of dragons were there already, along with weyrlings and riders that Hy’ka recognized, save for one particular man. Brynath landed, steering clear of the other lake-goers. He lowered himself so that Hy’ka could climb off, and the rider stood for a moment, tugging on his pants. Why did they feel so weird?
Brynath felt no obligation to tell him that his pants were on backwards. Go on. I'm going to be by Streeth and Fogleth. The chimera left his rider behind to approach the other two blues. Good morning, he greeted, I have a feeling it's going to be a good day.
Hy’ka shrugged and toddled off to where a particular weyrling and the man that he didn’t recognize were. “Mmm... Mornin’ Loren. And you...” Hy’ka yawned, his hand instantly shooting up to cover his mouth. “Ahhh, excuse me. I’m just a tad tired. Morning to you as well. I’m Hy’ka... Brynath--” he gestured to the chimera, “--is my dragon.” He had come in late enough to not hear what the new resident said about dragons, but he felt a certain amount of tension from the young man, almost like instinct.

Could mine really get sick from the water?! Fogleth doesn't want his sick! Fogleth said his voice echoing the fear in his eyes. The smaller blue paddled closer to Akira and gently nudged her with his nose intent on getting her attention. The girl turned to face him, blonde hair dripping. Be careful mine! Your Fogleth doesn't want his sick like BigCousinRelanth says mine could be.
"I will be careful." Akira said, gently running a hand over the blues arrow, trying to reassure the blue.
She watched the approaching boy wondering if he intended to join the trio. Then she heard him speak and Akira flinched at Gideons words, but held her tongue knowing starting something would not be a wise choice. Getting into an arguement was deffinately not the weyrling's to-do list, and never would be. When the two newcomers arrived Akira gave a small smile in thanks glad that the girl had spoken up. 'I cannot understand why anyone would insult a dragon.. and to make a jibe about a blue with a missng eye at that.'
Fogleth heard Bryanth greet him and Streeth and answered back,Good morning to you too! It should be a good day. The small blue seemed to think for a moment before adding softly ... does yours know his pants are on funny?
After Hy'ka landed and moved over towards the one who had insulted the dragon and the newcomer, Akira realized she had yet to introduce herself and Fogleth. " Oh, sorry for being a little late to do this, but i was a little caught up in what was going on. I am Akira and the little blue is Fogleth. I am really glad you guys decided to come over."... and then she noticed Hy'ka's pants and had to cover her mouth to stop herself from bursting out laughing. 'I wonder if i should tell him?'

It is unlikely yours will become sick, Fogleth. Surth told the young blue.
He and Faizah were flying overhead. Surth had heard of a few people getting up to play 'polarbear'. He had told Faizah, and she just laughed heartily before saying she would join them. Reyna chittered in a scolding manner, but Surth had noticed Faizah wave it off. Now he understood what polarbear was. Reckless humans swimming in water that could make them sick with cold.
Faizah thumped Surth, having caught his thoughts about being reckless. She smiled as she thumped him a second time, signaling to him that she was going to jump from his back into the water. He rumbled slightly as his eyes whirled a slight orange for worry. She just sent him reassuring thoughts as she jumped from his back.
She made a clean dive, the chilly water making her flinch. She broke the surface and gasped. It had been forever since she had done this, but it was so much fun!
She tread water, raising one arm to wave at the others. "Faizah here peoples!" She called as she began to swim closer to the gathered weyrlings, riders and candidates.

((Meeehhh. Post, but I'll leave Tahli out for the moment. Just Gideon's reaction to a sudden rush of people.))
He mostly ignored the girl and whatever she may have said, because when two other kids walked up, proud as anything with their baby dragons, he could only sigh loudly and roll his eyes. One mostly ignored him, heading for the lake, but this pretty little girl with the black hair and the dark blue dragon stopped to tell him off. He let the words just sort of flow past, instead locking eyes with the dragon contemplatively. he raised an eyebrow and half-considered jumping at it and going 'boo' but another rather heavy-handed tap at his mind made him remember he was still being stalked by the much bigger black dragon. Gideon, you should be polite. You promised. Skirth said gently.
And...the little blue thing had claws. Gideon pretended as if he hadn't heard Skirth's admonishment. "I'll understand? F*** that. I was just curious, girlie. Sorry if I offended your delicate sensibilities." he snapped, sounding not in the slightest bit sorry. " Sides, you look more like you came from Brooklyn than some f***ing dragon-alien-planet thing."
When the much larger...shimmery...thingy dragon had landed, depositing a sleepy-looking man dressed rather oddly, Gideon had cut off. He'd learned pretty fdast that the bigger the dragon was, the more rank you had, and though he was kind of a jerk, he had learned that people with power weren't likely to tolerate backsass from a broke-down kid. At least, cops sure didn't, and they had no problems roughing him up, so he wasn't sure if this guy would.
Oh. He'd said something. "Hy...ka. Riiight. And Brynath. Whatever." he said, stepping back a bit to be certain he was out of arm's reach of the other man. "Nice to meet you. Nice pants." he said, deadpan. "You always wear them that way, or is this a special occasion?"
When a large white dragon swooped down to the lake, he flinched, visibly. He recognized that dragon as the one belonging to the leader of this bunch of lunatics, and, sure enough, the red-haired woman dove off the dragon into the lake. She seemed...chipper. For being in a lake in november, that was impressive. But... she was far too cheerful.
His expression darkened slightly, and the absently rubbed his palms on his pants nervously. she was swimming towards them, but for now, he was still slightly suspicious of the man and the two young women nearby. And, now, the wet girl with the dark blue dragon. She'd been listening the whole time, because he'd seen her flinch. But she'd said nothing, at least not yet. But she seemed familiar with Hy'ka, at least a little. She was talking to him, anyway.
He slid back again, just a little, and watched the riders with some trepidation.

Relanth could sense that Skirth was not far away. He'd never met Skirth's rider, but Skirth was only a slight bit bigger than he was. I can tell you are watching, Skirth. Why not come join us? Or will your human not let you play?
Tahli winced as Gideon mocked her dragons missing eye. She growled and stared Gideon in the eye. "He lost it fighting a Bronze Weyrling named Wrath, for the bronze intruding into my mind and scaring me out of my wits. The idjit wouldn't listen ta reason." She wanted to avoid more conflict, not be in the middle. Relanth stepped between Loren and Gideon and bugled. ENOUGH! I will SHOW you what has happened to me in defense of my rider, and it better teach you to respect dragons, Young Gideon. Relanth did a 180, leaving his empty left eye socket to be seen by Gideon. The hide around the socket had shrunken back during healing, and left a small ring of bone to the open air.

((Sorry. i feel the need for Skirth to be cheeky. Tinypost, I promise. And hela, Skirth's a large brown. How big is Relanth?!))
Somewhere up on a ledge, Skirth looked amused. I am comfortable here. Gideon simply needs minding, and Mine has said to watch him. We will perhaps join you later. For now, LiamMine is asleep. And telling me it is far too early for sane humans to be awake.
Even as he spoke though, Relanth spoke up again, snarling at Gideon. The young candidate just inched back more, raising one hand defensively in front of him. "Piss of, you crippled bastard." He snarled. "It's 'ow I talk to everyone, so don' think you're special or nothing." With that, he smirked, not even flinching from the grim visage before him. "I've seen worse on bad trips, sapphire. You don't exactly scare me. And yeah, oooh, ya got a scar. So do I. Want to trade war stories?" Sarcasm dripped from his words- what Relanth had said about respect was obviously of little import to him.

((Fighting... Goodness... Surth and Faizah are going to have fun))
Faizah noticed the tension on the shore and quickly swam closer. She dunked under the water as Relanth bugled, having caught her by surprise and more than ashamed to admit her heart racing. Surprise noises were a pest. But Faizah knew she had to defuse any fight before it could happen.
Surth, please ask Relanth to calm himself. I am coming to assist. Faizah asked of her white.
Surth had landed a little more than ten feet to the left of the group of people. Surth nodded to his rider, noticing her swimming as quickly as she could to the problem. Relanth, please be calm. Faizah-mine is coming to help. The boy will not be insolent for long. Surth asked, turning a slowly swirling reddish orange eye toward Gideon.
Faizah quickly got to the shore and, ignoring her soaked clothes and dripping hair, approached those having a problem. She noticed Skirth from the corner of her eye. She knew, if Skirth was here without Liam or Spock, that this was the boy Liam had brought into the Weyr to stand for Impression. Well, it certainly wouldn't do the Candidate to be making enemies not only of riders and weyrlings, but their dragons as well.
Purposely Faizah stepped between Relanth and Gideon. "What's going on here?" She asked in a stern voice. She looked to Gideon was a fierce look before turning to Relanth and Tahli.

The young blue’s comment made Brynath look over towards Hy’ka. He turned back to Fogleth. No. He doesn't know, Brynath chuckled, his eyes swirling a mirthful green. And I don't plan on telling him. The chimera settled back on his haunches as he watched the scene unfold.
A young woman, a weyrling, Hy’ka assumed, introduced herself hurriedly, as if it really mattered that she was a few seconds late with an introduction. The rider raised an eyebrow at her gesture of covering her mouth, but he dismissed it quickly. “Good to meet you, Akira. I’m Hy’ka, and that’s Brynath by your dragon there.” Hy’ka scratched at the back of his neck, and offered the lady a warm smile. “Nothing wrong with that... You were just busy, and couldn’t get around to it. I would have introduced myself to you eventually.”
The man’s indifference to Hy’ka’s greeting made the bluerider shrug. If he didn’t care, then that was his fault, though Hy’ka was a bit disappointed to hear that someone didn’t care about meeting a new resident. He knew that he would care... “Nice to meet you as well,” Hy’ka responded with a tinge of apprehension in his voice. And what did he mean about his pants? The rider glanced down. Oh. They were on backwards. How did he not notice that? “Oh... Dear,” he commented, a look of shock on his face. “That’s... Embarrassing. I’ll just go... Fix this...” His voice trailed off as the bluerider slipped away from view to fix his pants.
Hy’ka had just missed the tension between the blue dragon, and the new candidate’s insults towards the scarred blue, but Brynath was there. When Relanth threw himself into a tightly controlled fury, placing himself between his rider and the candidate, Brynath was forward in an instant as well. He approached the older blue, coming up from behind and gently nudging him with his snout. Relanth, calm down... Brynath moved to step in front of Relanth and the candidate, though Faizah beat him there.
Instead, the chimera used his body to block Relanth, and try to turn him away from the human. Come. Faizah will handle this. Do not endanger your rider by getting into this fight. It was at that moment that Hy’ka returned, his pants on the correct way. He opened his mouth to inquire what was going on, but Brynath’s words stopped him. Don't. The Weyrwoman is here.

Tad shook his head. Pointedly, he moved away from the fight...he might have tried to break it up, but the Weyrwoman was here, doing her job.
Pernese tradition placed women oddly, he had found. They were either second class citizens or in charge. But then, maybe that was not so far from how they tended to be. And tradition had, from what he had been told, changed. He and Loren would be equals in their custom.
Speaking of...the black girl was diving into the water, quite neatly. The effect was spoiled when Woruth followed her...quite NOT neatly and splashing everyone around with chilly water.
Dragons, of course, didn't mind a little bit of ice.

The little blue visably relaxed at the nows his would be fineand looked at her oddly noticing the sheepish look she bore on her face after hearing what Hy'ka said in response to her general introduction. His was strange, in fact to the young blue, all humans were strang and he was unsure exactly what to make of the gathering.
Akira heard the what Gideon was saying and made a move to swim closer to the shore to give him a peice of her mind when the weyrwomen, Faizah stepped in. Grumbling to herself, she stopped her advance and watched really wanting somebody to shove the, in her opinion, stubborn boy into the water.
Fogleth grumbled as the insults grew worse, he turned a orange eye towards Akira and spoke, anger clearly evident in his voice, Mine!! Why is that boy being rude? Why is everyone simply letting him speak towards dragonkind like that!?
Fogleth the weyrwomen will take care of it. She will not let him get away with his harsh words.

Gideon just sneered, stepping back from the new dragon who had intervened. At Faizah's question, he did look towards her, and his mouth snapped shut immediately. He didn't really like her, and he didn't want to talk to her, especially because he knew he'd probably done something stupid.
Inwardly, he was amused by Hy'ka's embarrassment, and he didn't bother to hide his slight smirk. "Nothin'. Just getting to know people. "S' what you wanted, right? And after all, I was just asking this lovely girl about her poor, poor dragon, and what could have caused that sort of injury." False cheer smothered his words disgustingly obviously, and he didn't even try to look apologetic.
"He threatened me, by the way." He said after a moment, raising an eyebrow at the blue. "Isn't that taboo or something? Or's that why ya ended up here? Confrontational or something?" He glanced back at Faizah and sighed loudly and obviously. "Yeah, yeah, I know. I'mma shut up now, right? Stop bein' a bitch and f*** off then." He tried to angrily stalk away, but Hy'ka suddenly seemed to be in his way, and he flinched back, glowering at the rider. "Ngh. You again."

Having recovered from his frigid escapade, Dan swam towards the shore. With all of these new people appearing, Dan felt that he should go say hello. And secretly he hoped that one of them had brought an extra towel.
When Brynath greeted Folgeth and him, Streeth replied happily, Hello! It does promise to be pleasant today, doesnt it?
As the Blue Weyrling neared the group of people that was amassing, he began to hear wisps of harsh voices and increasing tension. Reaching solid ground, Dan was confused by the sudden escalation of events. Streeth was too. They looked at each other and then back at the chaos that was going on.
Eyes whirling a worried orange, Streeth asked, D'nielMine, cant they see that he is sad and angry inside? Being angry back will not help.
Knowing that it would be difficult to explain, he sadly replied, Well, in their defense, the boy sounded like he was insulting Tahli's Relanth. If you were being made fun of again I dont know what I'd do. His eyebrows creased as he remembered his time as a weyrling back on Pern.
Deciding that with the Weyrwoman and about five other weyrlings and riders that were there were enough to quell the problem, Dan asked Streeth to go get him a towel from their weyr. Glad to get away from all the animosity, Streeth rose from the frigid water and waded for the shore. I'll be right back Folgeth, Brynath. Mine needs a towel for his thin hide. and with eyes swirling an amused green, he took off towards the weyr.
By the time the Blue returned with a few towels clutched delicately in his claws, things seemed to be almost calming down, and the boy who was the center of it all was leaving. Dan sighed sadly. It was never good to let those types simmer. But wait, he hadn't left yet. Hy'ka seemed to be accidentally blocking the way. Grabbing a towel from His, Dan finally got out of the cold water to better be able to deal with what was going on. Though his shivering made him look as if he was seizing, if things turned rough he wanted to be there to try to help.

Faizah bristled. She had always hated it when younger people, significantly younger mind you, had been brash enough to undermine and scorn her. Pride was one thing Faizah refused to lower. But she kept her tongue long enough to question Surth about Gideon's attitude.
He seems angry. But not at anyone here. Sad as well. Like you sometimes are, mine...
That is between just us. You mention that to anybody else and I will never forgive you! Faizah mentally screeched. But she turned her attention back to the matter at hand.
"Gideon, why don't you tell me the real reason behind your problems?"
((Probably not the best word to use but that came from lack for a better word. Also excuse the double post. Phone doesnt work right. I will delete it as soon as possible.))

Tad was...emphatically moving *away* from Gideon and the Weyrwoman. He could detect that sparks would fly.
Kimath was putting a talon in the water. Of course, to a dragon, it was not cold. He could see Loren swimming bold strokes across the lake, then hauling herself out a little bit away.
Now there was one tough girl. But one he was glad had not Impressed green. He would not want to wake up next to her.
She was waving, and calling something he could not here. No doubt trying to lure others into the ice cold water.
Crazy woman. But then Faizah was probably the really crazy one. He was sure nobody had forced her to be in charge of this place.

Assistant Dragon Candidatemaster Y'ume & Brown Firenth Y'ume yawned as he climbed atop Firenth so that they could glide down to the Weyrbowl. He was wearing his Pern-style winter clothes and felt positively warm inside his jacket. He was about to his way towards the Dining Hall when Firenth called back his attention.
Firenth, having dragon eyes that could see further had noticed a congregation of dragons near the lake. Y'ume-Mine, there's a group of dragons near the lake and Theirs. I don't know what's going on, but I see White Surth and the Weyrwoman.
Y'ume turned around to walk back towards Firenth. "Are you sure? What are they doing there at this awefully early hour?" Y'ume asked as he looked up at the pre-dawn sky. He wasn't sure why a group of dragons and their riders would be by the lake, called Terra's Tear. He had to mentally shake his head that the Earthian's naming scheme with the lake. The name, Terra's Tear, just sounded gloomy and depressing in Y'ume's silent and very private opinion. "Well, there's no help for it but to get ourselves there and see what's going on." Y'ume continued saying as he climbed atop Firenth once more. He firmly gripped the ridge in front of him and clamped his legs as hard a he could around Firenth's neck.
Oc course, Rider-Mine. Firenth replied as he waited for His to settle behind his back before launching himself and His to glide down towards the lake. He was careful when he pumped his wings for more altitude since His had not put on his riding gear when they glided down to the Weyrbowl from their weyr. He landed some ways from the group and waited until His got down on the ground. Even though he was a dragon, he could feel the tension in the air. He wondered what he and His had missed to garner such an atmosphere amongst the group. He noticed the youth that had been brought over by Brown Skirth as the center or probably the source of the tension. Once His was down, he walked nearer trying to hear what's happening. He nodded greetings at the other dragons present but otherwise remained silent.
Y'ume belatedly thought that he should have put on Firenth's riding gear so that he didn't have to clamp so hard with his legs. He walked slowly towards the group and noticed the young man that had become a recent candidate. If he remembered correctly, the young man had been brought by the Weyrling Liam and his Brown Skirth. Sure enough, he spied the large Brown and Y'ume had to wonder what the lad had done to gain such attention from the others. He had gotten near the group to hear the Weyrwoman ask the lad, 'Gideon, why don't you tell me the real reason behind your problems?' He was curious as well, so for the moment, he kept silent as he watched the proceedings.

Fogleth grumbled to himself and climbed out of the water watching from the corner of his eye as James,Lilly and Alexandria chittered away while they flew. The three flits seemed to be argueing over something, the dragon shook his head and turned his attention to Gideon curious as to what would be said.
Akira to climbed out of the water and shivered when the air hit her exposed skin. She grabbed her red towel and curled up close to Fogleth towel held tightly against her small frame, also intent on hearing what the boy would say to the weyrwomen.

Gideon found himself surrounded. Making a noise that sounded a hell of a lot like a growl, he stepped back until his back was against a tree, glaring daggers at everyone around. But mostly Faizah. He did sort of sneer at the violently shivering bluerider, and muttered something like 'pansy' under his breath, but it was hardly audible. Somewhere further away, a black shadow took to the air, but there was no way Skirth was going to arrive in time to stop the words that were about to tumble out.
Another blue dragon person- her dragon seemed awfully young in comparison to the huge white thing nearby, so he assumed she was still considered a 'student' or whatever the equivalent was- stood near her dragon and three of the chittering smaller dragon-creatures. He paid her little mind, suddenly distracted by the arrival of a man on a brown dragon, unfamiliar to him but seeming to carry themselves with that sort of smug authority he saw in all of them. With an enraged cry, Gideon threw his hands in the air and swore violently and very impolitely.
He was practically surrounded; he hated being stared at, like some sort of freak, while everyone waited for him to explain himself or something. It always happened, from his mother to his teachers to anyone he'd ever met. What was so wrong about leaving him be for a while? Behind the huge white dragon and the new arrived brown he saw an all-too-familiar black creature sidle up, Skirth's eyes whirling a dangerous red with anger. he knew the dragon meant to tell him to behave, or stop, or something, but he just defiantly flipped the dragon off and spoke anyway.
"What the f*** is with you all? Don't you idiots have anything better to do than stare like retards? Go on, I'm sure the world needs saving or something, you bunch of goody-goodys!" He snapped vehemently, not caring who they were or their reasons for being there. "And you, you nosy little wh***. Why do you even give a damn about my problems? Shouldn't you be dealing with all the problems these guys have?" He smiled viciously, using everything he knew so far to insult and humiliate those around him. He was an outsider here as much as anywhere, and he could have cared less if anyone here liked him or thought him a total ass. It had ceased mattering a long time ago.
"I mean, isn't this like some sort of special-needs place? Where all the freaks get sent when they realize you all aren't good for anything anymore? It's like a f***ing disability home, full of all the retards and rejects and kids who droll on themselves and bite their parents." His rant was slowly growing from a pissed-off snarl to a bitter shout.
"Only this time, it's the people who were too weak to be picked out by halfway decent dragons, so you all got stuck with monstrosities and throwbacks no one else wanted. Just the way it always works, isn't it? You have to run off to find someone who will care about you because f*** all if anyone else will bother. So here we are, failure central! Too bad, 'cause I fit right in. " He waved an arm at the assembled as if proving a point, and stopped abruptly, chest heaving. Oooooh. He hadn't realized he was going to go that far.
"Now. Are we done here? Because I've got important things to do. In fact, I'm late for my latest suicide attempt." He said cheerfully, suddenly grinning and glancing at an non-existent watch on his wrist. He was pretty amused, actually, now. He'd managed to pretty much avoid the woman's questioning almost entirely, and hopefully she'd be too pissed off to keep picking at him like some damn therapist or something.
((I apologize for what I typed, in case I've offended anyone. That was the intent, but not my actual opinion on anything in any real way, shape, or form. Just a disclaimer- I don't want to be making people mad; IC versus OOC and such.))

((Tahli is having a field day. Violence involved in the next post))
Tahli had enough. There was no way she was going to take this punk calling her dragon a reject, along with the rest of Rocky. She marched up to Gideon, pulled back her arm, and slugged him across the jaw. "YOU TAKE THAT BACK YOU SON OF A BITRAN!"
Relanth's eye went a bleak gray, not understanding the sudden surge of anger from his bonded. He let loose a strangled bugle when his rider attacked the boy. TAHLI! Enough of this! Have you lost your mind?! The blue quickly nudged his bondmate away from Gideon with his head. His sole eye had switched to a dark crimson hue, denoting his smoldering anger.

Wait a moment, Skirth. Faizah-mine is handling it. Surth said to the black-brown dragon.
Faizah went to grab Tahli from her assault but already Relanth had moved her away. It was hard to miss the swirling red of dragon eyes, but she had to in order to achieve peace again. This had gotten badly out of perspective. She flicked her eyes back to Gideon.
"No one here is useless or defective. Dragons and riders come here when they, for some reason or another, can not effectively do their duty on Pern. That blue you seemed to be insulting, is terrified of the dragon's ancient foe. My white, Surth, hatched with a weak wing and oddly bent foreleg. That brown behind me, Firenth, has absolutely nothing wrong with him. He and his rider, Y'ume, came to Earth to help us find suitable Candidates for our hatchings. Some are here simply because the Pernese fear what they don't know, just like humans here on Earth.
"As for some not being picked by "half-way decent dragons" remember that it is those dragons that will sire or clutch the dragon that you might have the miracle to Impress. And yes, it is my job to know your problems. I'm the Weyrwoman. It is my job and duty to know everyone's grievances in my Weyr..." Faizah stopped. Her hands, clenched into fists at her sides, were trembling from her efforts to keep herself undercontrol.
Faizah turned and walked back to Surth, who lowered his head to peer at her. She rubed his eyeridges a moment and then dove back into the cold water. She swam hard and fast out to the middle of the lake, where she dove under the surface several times.
Surth watched His, slightly worried. She disliked, very much, to pull her rank. Faizah preferred not to mention or act like the Weyrwoman. She claimed it made her feel more approachable. Surth watched her for a few moments before turning a large eye, rapidly swirling with confusion and anger and worry, to Gideon. You should be more careful, boy. I do not like Mine upset.
((If I missed a point, tell me and I will add it in there.))
