A'shan, Azulith, Lazuli Time: Midday, Week of Mar 27, 2011
A'shan sighed loudly, brushing his long dark hair from his face as a stiff breeze blew it every which way. Snuggled securely under the collar of his riding jacket was the little blue firelizard he'd adopted, sleeping happily and reveling in the warmth created by A'shan's skin.
The rider could only smile faintly as Lazuli shifted, peeking out from under his shirt to squeak lightly and duck back in. Even for early spring it was rather cold out, though the beautiful blue dragon A'shan was watching certainly didn't seem to mind.
Azulith spread his wings wide as he stalked the young herdbeast, ignoring the desperate lowing of the cattle in his hunt for lunch. The blue opened his jaws and crept after the cow, slinking like some great predatory beast; A'shan tried his hardest to liken the pose to anything, but he came up with nothing. Just like always. A complete blank when it came to anything before Lorelei and coming here.
Azulith's head snapped up and he relaxed into a sitting position. He'd already eaten most of another cow; he'd simply been stalking this one for fun. A'shan's irritation had been quite evident, and the blue growled quietly to catch his attention. A;shan glanced up at him and smiled, though the dragon could quite easily tell it was mostly fake. The blue padded over near his partner and lay along behind him, offering his belly for his beloved A'shan to lean on.
A'shan smiled and moved back, taking a seat on the grass outside the animal pens and leaning against the dragon's warm hide. "I know I shouldn't be so annyoed, 'Zu, but I can't help it." He said eventually. An affectionate rumble behind him urged him to continue as Azulith sprawled on his side and curled his neck protectively around A'shan. "It's not that I mind so much not being able to remember, it isn't. It's the fact that everyone seems so ...positive about everything." A'shan brushed his hair back again and sighed. "I appreciate everything Lorelei has done for us, and she's perfectly sweet, but sometimes her optimisim gets on my nerves."
Azulith waited for him to continue, nudging his large head into the man's side as a gesture of comfort. "I don't know anymore. It's not right of me to complain; I'm still alive, and I have you, but it's so annoying to constantly feel I'm missing out on something..." He said, trying to hide the itterness in his voice. "They're all perfectly nice here, but I know I look like a fool. I just need a break from it sometimes..."
Azulith crooned softly in sympathy. He knew how hisA'shan felt. What he wouldn't give to be able to send his love and affection to his lifemate; A'shan knew the great blue cared for him, but both knew there was something off. Azulith did everything he could to make his love clear, but it hurt to not be able to talk to His like the other dragons. And with A'shan so upset about losing his memory it was even worse.
They both sighed then, and leaned into each other, Azulith's soft breathing and A'shan's quiet monolouge to the blue about nothing in particular the only sounds for a while.

Lesla & Green Houkath
It was a fine day to be out of the weyr. There was still a bite of winter in the breeze that passed through, but one could not deny that Spring has finally come. Houkath needed to feed and she was just big enough that Lesla suggested Houkath try hunting for her own food. Not that they would need to actually go far, they just needed to go to the Feeding Grounds.
Houkath being at five months old, has been trying her wings and glided mostly towards the Feeding Grounds. Seichou kept Houkath company, lending his ears for her. He'd let her know if there was any danger about though he doubted that there would be any. Zeus opted to stay with His flying above His head as he kept apace with His walking towards the Feeding Grounds.
Lesla was proud that Houkath seemed to be gliding well. She was also proud that Houkath now knows more than the few words she used to know. She still feels bad that Houkath cannot hear the others but she was immensely happy that they could still communicate with one another.
Houkath arrived at the feeding pens where the cows were corraled. She had seen the blue lounging near, but being mute, she did not offer any welcome greeting. She started to stalk the nearest prey, not wasting time or waiting for Hers to arrive. In a few minutes, she had her kill, a yearling cow which she dragged away from the panicking herd. In moments, she was chomping on the cow, chewing the meat before she swallowed.
Seichou having seen that Houkath arrived at her destination, landed on the fence that enclosed the herd. He noticed the blue dragon and rider relaxing nearby. Having never met them before, Seichou was curious about them and alighted near the rider and chirping a happy hello at both.
When Lesla finally arrived at the feeding pens, she saw that Houkath had already killed her first cow. She looked about wondering where Seichou had gone off to and noticed him not too far away from a blue dragon and his rider. Lesla stopped on her tracks, nervous at what Seichou was trying to do and also fighting the urge to turn back the way that she had come.
Zeus getting a little hungry himself, flew off to hunt some game of his own. Zeus flew to an area where there were chickens and proceeded to stalk his prey. Soon enough, Zeus managed to kill his first chicken and hoisted it away to eat in peace. He let His know where he was and what he was doing as he bit down on a particularly juicy, well bloody, part of the chicken.
Seichou noticing His was not too far away, launched himself to the sky to land on her right shoulder. He crooned at her, encouraging her to go meet with the curious blue dragon and his rider that were relaxing near the feeding pens.
Lesla getting encouragement from Seichou, inhaled and gathered her courage. She approached the dragon pair silently. She wasn't sure if they wanted company or not, but she needed to make friends not hide herself in her weyr. With a soft voice, Lesla hailed the pair, "Uh... hello Bluerider." she said not sure of what else to say. She had stopped near the fence where she could see Houkath still finishing off her first kill.

((Heh. I just realized neither dragon can speak, apparently. Hmm. Interesting...))
A gentle rumble of warning alerted A'shan to the girl's arrival. He had eventually just closed his eyes, enjoying being outside despite the crisp air, and he opened them just in time to see the green dragonet as she stalked her prey. Azulith raised his head, watching as well, though he stayed curled around His for the time being. He did offer her a greeting in the form of a quick nod of his head, but as she was eating, he didn't really know if she saw or not. It was of little consequence, and he rarely bothered to greet others verbally anymore, what with the noise restrictions in effect around the Weyr.
A'shan made a noise of discomfort when the brown flitter appeared- not because he was unhappy to see the handsome little creature, but because Lazuli had decided to also come out and say hi, and the tiny blue hatchling had decided to use his hair as a ladder. "Be careful, little one." A'shan scolded gently. "You're excited, I know, but that hurt."
Lazuli just squeaked and fluttered his wings as he gleefully responded to the brown. He made a sad noise when the older flit left, but his enthusiasm returned when his new friend came back with his own prettyhuman. The blue did a happy little dance on A'shan's head, making a variety of odd noises as the weyrling approached.
A'shan glanced up as well, mostly to grab the obnoxious blue and get him off his head, and secondly to give the youn woman a smile that was only slightly tinted with annoyance at the little firelizard's antics. "Ah...and greetings to you, Green Weyrling." He said somewhat formally, not sure how he should act around her. She was on the smaller side, a good deal shorter than he, with very long black hair. He didn't recognize her, but he only knew a very few people around here anyway. He sighed as Lazuli demanded to continue the meeting with the brown. "Do pardon the little one. He's young yet." A'shan said, placing Lazuli back on his shoulder as he stood to be somewhat more polite.
Azulith rumbled quietly, and a gentle nudge at the small of his back was enough for A'shan to realize the dragon was encouraging him to make friends. Lovely. He shoved the blue's head away, getting only a definitively smug snort of what he'd learned was laughter for it.
"...ah. Your green looks like she's growing to be quite the lovely dragon. She's...what, just half a turn?" A'shan finaly said conversationally, placing his hands in his pockets and glancing at the green.

Lesla & Green Houkath Satisfied that His would be making an effort to make new friends, Seichou left His' shoulder and alighted on the fence. Noticing the little Blue flit, Seichou warbled a greeting at him. He was happy enough to make another friend even if His wasn't entirely happy with the situation.
Lesla felt abandoned when Seichou left her shoulders to perch on the fence nearby. She had noticed the cute little blue flit and gave a tentative smile at the blue's antics. She was just betting that all the scrambling about on the rider's hair was such a pain. It was just the sort of thing that would loosen her up and talk more freely.
"No, it's fine. He looks cute." she said as she looked curiously at the blue flit.
At the rider's question regarding Houkath, Lesla nodded her head with a reply of, "Yes, almost six months. Houkath is only really five months and three weeks old." Then with a fond voice, she added, "I agree, she's growing to be a lovely Green."
At which time, Zeus had finally decided to come back to His, popping out of between at their heads. He gave a cursory glance at the rider and dragon but homed in to perch on His' left shoulder. Securing himself on his perch, he then noticed the blue flit and bugled a welcome greeting wanting to be noticed in all his Bronze glory atop Lesla's left shoulder.
Seichou noticing that Zeus was back, silently sighed to himself. There's just no saying no to a Bronze flit who liked to behave as if he was a Gold. He ignored Zeus' bugle and was now looking for Houkath. He wondered if she was done having a meal or not yet.
Houkath, having finished her first kill, discarded the bones and other stuff that she did not want to eat at all. She once again began stalking her prey and this time, she pounced on a boar. And as with the cow, Houkath ate with relish. She was deaf to what was happening around her so she didn't know if anyone was calling out to her or not. The only voice she could successfully hear was Hers and Hers' flits, Brown Seichou and Bronze Zeus. Although with the addition of Zeus, Seichou more often than not, acts as her eyes and ears so that she'll be kept apprised of her surroundings.
After finishing the boar, Houkath was ready for a nap. But with her belly distended as it was, she was not up to flying any time soon. She looked about and saw Hers near the fence near a blue dragon and his rider. Houkath made her way to where Hers was and getting over the fence with some difficulty, laid on the ground near the others. She nodded at the blue dragon but otherwise kept silent hoping he'll take that as a greeting.
Lesla blushed a little at Zeus trying to show off himself as usual. "Ignore him, Zeus likes to think he's a gold when he's not." Lesla said as she shushed Zeus down. She realized that she hadn't even introduced herself and did her best to remedy the situation. "By the way, I'm Lesla. This here is Green Houkath." Lesla introduced herself and Houkath. Then gesturing to Zeus on her left shoulder she said, "This one is Bronze Zeus." with a roll of her eyes at Zeus' antics. And lastly, pointing at Seichou who was still perching on the fence, "And that is Brown Seichou." After a pause, she continued with, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Bluerider ..." Lesla let the sentence hang so that the rider can introduce himself, his dragon and his flit.

A'shan couldn't help but smirk at the way she let the introduction hang so he would speak again. "A'shan. That is, obviously, my name, while the large blue one here is Azulith-" The dragon nodded his head politely at the girl when he heard his name. "And the little blue one is Lazuli."
Lazuli squealed as he heard his name, scampering around in a tiny circle in A'shan's arms. He then stomped his feet happily and crawled up His' arm to his shoulder and gave the shiny bronze a very high-pitched bugle that was obviously intended to sound much bigger and stronger than it actually did. He wanted to impress the big shiny bronze, so he puffed out his chest and mimicked Seichou's antics.
A'shan sighed deeply, rolling his eyes. "What in the skies am I going to do with you, Lazuli?" He murmured. The blue just stopped, and widened his eyes, startled. It took a moment, but A'shan then realized that the flit had completely forgotten everything he had been doing. "You are beyond a dimglow, my little friend." A'shan said. "I think if this was Pern, a tunnelsnake would have eaten you long ago."
Lazuli cheeped softly, worried, but an affectionate rub on his head made everything better. "At least the lady thinks you're cute." A'shan said. Then he turned his attention back to Lesla and Houkath. "She's doing quite well. I can't say I remember much of Azulith's younger years, but...If they go anything like a baby fire lizard's, you're doing well to still be in ownership of your sanity."
He smiled at her proud bronze flit. "And of course, you've got just as much to deal with in regards to that young one. So he likes to think he's a gold...of dear. What a handful he must be." Still, the bronze's antics amused him. Even with a strong temper like that he imagined the girl's fire lizard was a good companion.
Behind them, Azulith watched the green as she finished her meal. Something was strange about her...as the young female dragon finished, and gave him a nod, he pulled his head back slightly in surprise. It didn't seem possible, but...he inclined his own head formally in return, somehow understanding she wouldn't take offense.
The blue's eyes tinged a faint pleased blue-green. He heard nothing from her, and she had used only motion to greet him...could it be? He rumbled, incredibly happy. It appeared the little one was mute as he was! And, if he had to hazard a guess, she probably couldn't hear him either. If he had been capable, Azulith would have been laughing.

Lesla & Green Houkath Lesla watched as Ashan conversed with Lazuli for a bit. She smiled at them still liking the fact that Lazuli was so cute. Then she heard Ashan say, 'She's doing quite well. I can't say I remember much of Azulith's younger years, but...If they go anything like a baby fire lizard's, you're doing well to still be in ownership of your sanity', and Lesla had to laugh a bit out loud.
"I am surprised to still be in possession of my sanity myself. What with having to deal with Houkath and then with Zeus." she said shaking her head ruefully. Then shea added, "But I wouldn't have changed anything if given the chance to do things all over again." she gave Houkath a fond caress on her eye ridge and felt Zeus nuzzling her cheek.
Houkath leaned closer to Hers as Hers gave her a scratch on her eye ridge. She had seen the older blue dragon nod back at her and if a dragon could have smile, Houkath would have done so. She was pleased with herself for socializing with an older dragon, and she wasn't sure, but it seemed that he was not trying to send to her. At least, she hoped he wasn't. After all, she would not have heard him if he was trying to talk to her. She's still trying to learn to listen through Her's flits, Seichou in particular, but it's kind of hard.
Seichou finally noticing where Houkath was, promptly flew to land on her head. He settled himself on the top of Houkath's head as he listened to what was happening around him. He passed on what he heard to Houkath to let her know what's being said. But sometimes, being a flit, he forgets or gets distracted.
Lesla noticed Seichou had landed on top of Houkath's head and gave the brown a brief caress on his little head. Looking back to Ashan she said, "By the way, Houkath's deaf and kind of mute. It's the reason why we got sent here. For some reason, she can mentally hear me and my flits fine, but nobody else. She and Seichou are working on ways of letting her hear what's going on around her by letting Seichou act as her ears." as Lesla patted Houkath on her head near Seichou.
Zeus kind of ignored Lazuli after the initial display of his magnificence. After the meal that he had eaten. He was sort of sleepy-full so he curled around himself on His' shoulder and more firmly wrapped his tail around His' neck.
Lesla feeling Zeus wrapping his tail around her neck, knew that the bronze flit was about to take a nap. She debated on taking him off of her shoulders and letting him sleep in the crook of her elbow, but finally decided against it. He'll just have to be sure not to fall off when she walked. However, she also saw how distended Houkath's belly was and knew that they weren't going anywhere anytime soon. So picking a spot near Houkath, Lesla settled herself on the grass, careful not to dislodge Zeus.
Focusing back on Ashan, she asked curiously, "So, how about you and Azulith? Why did you get sent here?" She had noticed the missing headknob on Azulith, but she didn't think anything wrong would come of it.

As Lesla spoke, Lazuli slowly lost control of his eyelids, and his head began to droop. A'shan just made an amused noise and settled the tiny blue back under his jacket. "Hmm. Naps are horribly contagious, apparently." He said softly.
And when Lesla spoke of doing everything the same had she the chance, he could only smile. He couldn't say for sure if he'd agree, as he couldn't exactly remember much, but a glance at Azulith made him smile slightly, and he decided he agreed with her. "There's really nothing like them, is there?" He mused absently, and it was unclear exactly what he meant, but the fondness in his voice was obvious as he watched Azulith inspect a peculiar flower.
Lesla's description of Houkath's so-called disability made him curious, however. So the little green was incapable of sending except for her partner and Lesla's flits? Odd, but strangely fitting. When Azulith also overheard this, the blue just looked smug. So he was right. "She uses your fire lizards as extensions to hear with? That's...very clever." He said, as if this had never even occurred to him. But when he asked Lazuli to see if Azulith could 'hear' him, all he got was a sleepy and vaguely annoyed peep, and the dragon gave His a wry look and very definitively rolled his eyes.
Then he realized the young woman had direct a question at him, and he glanced back at her with an embarrassed cough. "Us? We...I'm honestly not exactly sure." He ran a hand through his hair absently, stalling for a bit, then sighed. "I don't know at all, actually. I don't remember anything before I woke up in Lorelei's tent. Azulith was with me, and.... that's all. I knew my name, and his."
He took a leaf out of Lesla's book and sat back down, and Azulith automatically curled around him, protective but not quite possessive. Reassured by the contact, A'shan continued. "Lorelei and her collection of fire-lizards- she called them mini-dragons, did you know?- seemed to know Azulith was... not from this world. Which, he obviously isn't. How she managed to find out there was possibly a secret sanctuary for dragons in this place...I have no idea. But...we came anyway- I seem to remember Faizah was rather...confused." He laughed sarcastically, and shook his head.
"Anyway. After a while, they managed to piece together a rough estimation of what must have happened...and do believe me, it scared me half to death when Surth bespoke me the first time." Here, Azulith made a noise of...encouragement? Support? A little of both. And it didn't escape the rider's notice that Lesla had noted Azulith's peculiar lack of a headknob.
"Yes, Azulith is unable to speak. Much like your Houkath...well. Houkath seems able to speak to Zeus and Seichouu- Azulith cannot speak to anyone." A'shan seemed sad for a moment, but Azulith made a scolding noise in the back of his throat. Startled, A'shan made a rather dismissive gesture at the dragon, only to have his hand very delicately placed between large teeth. "Ah. Yes. I see." A'shan said after a moment, and Azulith very good-naturedly released his silly human counterpart. A'shan only seemed mildly chastised, though, and he shrugged in Lesla's direction.
"Still, despite the fact he can't talk, you can obviously see he has learned to compensate in more creative ways." He finished. "But...my lack of memory keeps us somewhat stranded here...I can't remember anything well enough for us to be able to get back." Another warning rumble from the blue dragon, and A'shan glared back at him. "Be quiet. I'm not moping, I'm just stating a fact"
He colored slightly as he realized that last bit had been out loud. "Ahem. Anyway- that's the long and short of it. Not that I can really complain- I rather like it here, and how can I miss what I have no knowledge of? Especially since Azulith here seems so keen on keeping my spirits up by any means possible. Apparently, I have a tendency to sulk." He said this with an air of humor, though, and with the sound of one who has been lectured by a great number of people. "Lorelei has no qualms about stating her mind, no matter how it may insult someone."
The blue had lay his head down and was feigning sleep, but one eye opened long enough to sneak a peek at His, and he seemed quite satisfied. "My apologies- was I rambling? Dear. ANYway. Tell me, you lived on Pern, correct? What did you do? I admit, I am deeply curious."
