Raynith was sitting on a huge rock, staring at herself in the lake. Her color looked good today, so she wanted to enjoy herself. Despite the snow and cold, she felt great. Her anemia didn't weaken her as badly today.
"Today feels like a good day for socializing. I wonder who I'll meet today?"

Gruulath lumbered lazily in the direction of the lake. He wanted nothing more than to stretch out and sun himself. It really was a fine day for sunning. The air may have been crisp, but the sun was warm enough to counteract that. As Gruulath neared the lake, he noticed a Green was already out sunning herself. Normally Gruulath would have walked on by, but today he was in high spirits.
May I join you or is this spot taken?

Raynith lifted her head to spot Gruulath. She'd seen him Chase Cherath not too long ago. She trilled and bobbed her head in a greeting.
"Hello. This spot is quite open. I am Raynith. Who are you? Mine is currently getting English lessons."

Gruulath lowered himself down into a prone position and situated his body in a way that would be the most comfortable. Then he turned to the Green with his good eye and introduced himself.
I am Gruulath, and Mine is running at the moment. If you watch eventually you will spot him sprinting around the lake. He seems to be most at ease around water.
The Brown paused as if looking to spot his rider to point out, but apparently didn't spot him because he turned back to Raynith.
English lessons? Your rider is from Earth then? What is their name? Mine is called T'sai.

Raynith stretched out her wings and trilled again. She looked over at the lake and spotted Gruulath's running around, as promised. She turned back to Gruulath.
"Mine is called Kumiko. She's from some place called Juh-pan."
She felt her back twitch slightly so she stretched her back legs out.

Gruulath didn't know what a 'Juh-pan' was, but he was guessing it was something like a Hold. Why did the Juh-pan people need to learn to speak though? Gruulath was confused.
How many people in the Weyr are from Juh-pan? Is Yours the only one? Do they all need to learn English?
Gruulath arched his back until it made a popping noise. There was a release of tension, and the Brown settled down once more.

Raynith shook her head from side to side.
"No. The others already know it. MineKumiko never learned English in school. Miyuki and Shinjiro are the other Weyrlings from Juh-pan. It is a country. It has many people I am told."
Raynith watched a few snowflakes melt on her hot hide.

Gruulath grunted his understanding. It had begun snowing, and the Brown rolled off his side and onto his stomach. The snowflakes were to few and small to effect him, but that may not last. Snow had an interesting habit of falling harder after a bit, much like rain did.
How did the others learn, but not Yours? Were they taught differently or in different locations?
