Daniel was just about to reply to Akira when the egg at his feet shook. Out came a little Blue with small dark stripes. It looked at him but then saw Akira's Blue and cheeped in fright. He hid behind Dan, afraid for his life.
"Congratulations Daniel!"
Dan turned to look at Akira and gave her a wry grin."Haha, thanks! But i think this ones gonna be another handful." He reached out his hand gently and tried to reassure the little blue. "Hey, now. Its ok. There is really nothing to be afraid of." The weyrling sent happy thoughts toward him and offered him a piece of meat, knowing that he would be hungry, no matter how scared he was. when he didnt go for the food, Dan picked him up which was easy enough because he was hunched up into a little ball. "Hey, hey." He crooned, "Its alright." He pet the littleling while Abhi and Ruski tried to make him feel better too. They cheeped at him and sent him reassuring thoughts. Slowly he calmed down and loosened up enough to feel hunger again. His eye swirled a ravenous red and he took the meat that was still in HisBonded's hand. "Ya know, I think Im going to call you Kat. With a 'k.' Because it is pretty obvious that you are a scaredy cat."
When Akira's other egg hatched, Dan exclaimed, "Oh, good for you! He's a beauty! Pretty soon you are going to have a hoard of the little devils."
