Due to a strange epidemic at the end of the 9th Pass, there are three new colors of dragon, wher, and firelizard. After the 200 Turn Interval most of Pern is used to these new colors and they have fixed themselves in their place in the color hierarchy. Greys are slightly more common than Golds and are able to clutch, though their clutches are smaller and it has been found that they will instinctively obey both Golds and Bronzes. With the coming of Greys, Blues have a chance to father clutches, albeit a small chance. Blacks are just below the Greys and have been known to catch Golds on a fairly regular basis, though Bronzes still catch them more often. And Burgundies are below Browns, but above Blues. Also due to the epidemic, Whites have become ever so slightly more common. In the 10th Pass every Weyr generally has one or two Whiteriders.
After the epidemic and the new colors were studied, a decision was reached to settle the Far Western Continent that sailors often spoke of. Benden, having the most Queens and therefore the ability to spare one, sent their youngest Queen, soon to rise, and her rider, along with enough volunteer riders to make up a wing, to found a new Weyr to be called Western Weyr. Ships with interested holders and crafters were sent after them and by the time they arrived a Weyrleader had been made, the young Gold had risen. Ten Turns have passed since the original settlers came to the Western Continent and all residents are doing fairly well so far. With the beginning of the next Pass imminent, who knows how long that will last.
We’re new so there are a lot of open positions and chances for higher colors, including:
-Lord Holder of Western Hold
-Adult Greyrider Tryouts
-Adult Gold and Grey Wherhandler Tryouts
-Open Applications for 2 Bronze and 4 Black Dragonriders on a first come, first served basis
-Open Applications for 1 Bronze, 1 Black, 2 Brown, 2 Burgundy, and a number of Blue and Green Wherhandlers on a first come, first served basis
-And other important Weyr positions as well
Along with the positions listed above, Candidates are always welcome, especially since Gold Orlaith has another clutch on the sands, her largest yet with 22 eggs and not only a Grey egg among them, but a Gold as well, her very first Gold to be clutched. With the beginning of the 10th Pass upon them it’s no surprise that the Gold is preparing her young Weyr with more clutching females.
*Don't fret if you don't like nonCanon colors! You are welcome to indicate in your Candidate's profile that you want them to Impress only to a Canon color and I'll be sure to make that happen.
