Codi was surprised that the weather had stayed mostly the same since Earth had gone through the black hole and stabilized next to Pern. High summer was still hot, though perhaps not as intense as it might have been had the planet still been orbiting Sol.
Stith had finally hit a growth spurt and was no longer small enough to hide behind her, though he didn't reach twenty feet in length, either. She surmised he was probably close to sixteen or seventeen feet in length. And the growth had somewhat helped his twisted paw, but it still caused him pain every now and then if he didn't watch how he put his weight down.
The white was currently wallowing in the lake, soaking up the sun as he floated about, while his rider was sprawled on his back, enjoying the weather just as much as he was. Things were still chaotic after the "transfer", but at the moment, there was little for the inexperienced pair to do that could provide much help to the Weyr other than staying out of the way.
Codi's mind drifted back to the conversation she had had with Tiffanie, before Earth had been sucked through the worm hole. Had she known then what she realized now, she wouldn't have worried so much about their fate as she did. She let out a long sigh, then said, "I wonder what the Pernese think about having Earth as their stellar neighbor..."
