(OOC: Remember, the Hatching occured just as folks were either about to eat, had to leave for the Hatching Sands before they could finish, or they actually managed to finish their meal. The newly Impressed dragonets should have been stuffed full by this time so they should now be sleeping in their wallow in their weyr. Of course, if the dragonet wishes to, they could also join the festivities if they aren't too sleepy yet. There are many kinds of beverages being served, but do remember that there will be no beverage being served that will get you intoxicated. There are also many different kinds of dishes being served and not only just those mentioned in this post. There are many NPC servants/drudges working so feel free to order them around.)
IC Date: September 11, 2011 IC Time: After the Hatching of Green Raynith's and Green-Gold Isath' clutch
Headwoman Mira Mira surveyed the organized chaos that was underway in the Kitchen and Dining Hall. She made sure that the Head Chef and Sous Chefs didn't have trouble with the preparation and cooking of food. She also made sure that there would be enough for everyone because this would be Rocky Weyr's first ever Hatching Feast. Mira had learned of the traditional Hatching Feast that always followed Hatchings. It was a chance for Riders to mingle with the newly Weyrlings and for the families of the newly Impressed and those Candidates left standing to be reunited since they came to the Weyr. Of course, since Rocky Weyr is still a National Secret despite the dragons having been exposed during the storm rescue run to the nearby locals, she doubted if she'd actually see the families of the Candidates and Newly Impressed Weyrlings being brought over to the Weyr.
Like most dinner parties that Mira had attended, the food was laid on the tables buffet style. On the table, there were trays of beef stew, honey-glazed ham, fried chicken, barbeque chicken wings, sheperd's pie, chicken pot pie, mixed stir-fry vegetables, corn on the cob, pasta with sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy, baked sweet yams, steamed white rice, pork fried rice, vegetable fried rice, bread pudding, custard pie, apple pie, cheese cake, and jelly (strawberry, orange & lemon) to name a few. Mira didn't know when the Hatching would be over, but she dearly hoped that they had time to finish before the crowd came through the dining hall.
When she was satisfied with the food being laid on the buffet table, she moved over to the plates and utensils inspecting them for flaws. She liked to keep it clean and made sure that the plates and utensils, have all been properly washed and dried. No crusted dried leftovers on her watchful eyes and beware the lazy person if she sees a dirty plate. After a while, Mira was satisfied with the cleanliness of the plates and utensils. Now on to the tables. This night, after everyone had left for the Hatching Sands, Mira had the servants bus the tables and ordered that fresh white tablecloths be put on top the tables. While others were putting tablecloths on tables, Mira ordered the others to sweep the floor. Now the place looked immaculate. Mira sighed in relief as the preparations for the feast was finally complete. Now to wait for the Hatching to be over. She hoped that it wouldn't be too long or the food will get cold.

Faizah walked quickly into the dining room, looking actively for Mira. Thankfully she found the woman, a dear friend to the Pandora's for years, and approached her.
"Is everything ready?" Faizah asked in a slurred hurry of words. Stress was obvious on her face and she had to stop herself and take a few deep breaths to slow her speech. "Is everything ready?" She slowly asked Mira. She continued to take deep breaths so that she wouldn't fall again into her unintelligible speaking.
Kain then entered the dining room. He spotted Faizah and Mira together and calmly walked to them. He placed his hands on Faizah's shoulders and gently pushed her into a seat. When she tried to rise from the chair, Kain shook his head at her. "No." He said simply.
He turned to Mira. He knew she couldn't possibly have answered Faizah already, but he had to tell her the events of the hatching before the other members of the Weyr arrived.
"Be prepared. Eggs were stolen during the hatching, and someone Impressed two dragonets. There was also an injured weyrling pair. Everyone is pretty upset and confused. They are heading this way now, Mira." Kain turned to leave and escort the weyrlings and riders to the dining hall. He stopped mid-stride and turned back to the Headwoman. He pointed at Faizah. "And don't let her get up until she stops shaking. Try to get her to eat a little something before everyone gets here."
With that Kain left.

Akira wandered into the hall passing the man on his way out. She nodded her head in greeting before approaching the two women wondering if there was anything she could do to help set up, wanting to keep busy. Fogleth followed her closely sleepyness beginning to make itslef known in his eyes, but he wanted to meet some of the other people in the weyr before going to sleep.
Akira asked if there was anything she could do to help and also introduced herself, "Hello, I am Weyrling Akira Nobel of Blue Fogleth. Is there anything i can do to help or is everything already taken care of?"
Fogleth looked around the room as the scents wafted over his nose he perked up forgetting his sleepyness for a momment, speaking so all in the room could hear him it smells good in here!
Akira grinned and petted the blue lovingly on the head before returning her attention two the two in front of her.

On the one hand, Cioeth was very tired. On the other hand, Cioeth wanted to be admired.
Right now, wanting to be admired won out, and the green-blue dragonet padded alongside her rider.
What a day. Tiffanie was glad she was not the one who had bonded to not one, but two, of the dragons. Cioeth would never have tolerated that. She had made that very clear.
Yes, much like...but no. Cioeth was special, and the only thing 'wrong' with her was that she had hatched knowing it too well. Rather like a kitten who had worked out rapidly that a cute face could get all wrongs forgiven.
One of the other weyrlings...that was the term they used for the trainee riders...was already there, along with her blue. She wondered how the leaders would react to the stolen eggs, and to the fact that some of the eggs had not hatched. Although she supposed that had to happen. Stillbirths occurred in all species and given the dragons seemed to have the strategy of laying as many eggs as possible...
Besides, Cioeth was not 'right' by Pernese standards, although she clearly appeared healthy and Tiffanie knew she would have no problems. But the stillborn dragons could have had other genetic issues that made them not viable.
She let out a breath. Cioeth was going to be fine. Her parents were both healthy and fertile; there was no reason to expect any kind of problems on that front.
And there was a LOT of good food to take her mind off of any worries.

Tag spread his arms wide as he walked in, making a satisfied sound. "Smells amazing in here! And good thing, because damned if I'm not starving!" Behind him, still looking a little overwhelmed, was his near-clone, his twin sister. She elbowed him gently when he stopped specifically to bar her way, just to be annoying, and he giggled.
"You're sooooo annoying, Tag!" She grumbled, but she didn't mean it. Well, she did, but he was her brother, and would be forgiven pretty quickly. She joked with him for a bit as they glanced over the food, but the undertone of the evening was still somewhat grim. Tag seemed rather determined to make certain people remembered that despite the happenings of the last few hours. "Besides, hatchings are happy, right?" Tag said suddenly, clapping a young girl on the shoulder as he passed and winking at her. " 'Specially when we've got someone who impressed a pretty little thing like your blue-green, there, right? I mean, sure, I'm biased, but really, you know, it's the best of both." He grinned mischievously the girl and her dragonet, and made a show of admiring the little blue-green. "You, my dear, are exceedingly lovely, miss-"
Cioeth. Halderoth supplied. "Yes. Cioeth. Anyway. C'mon, be more cheerful."
"Cheerful? One would perhaps assume you're being just a tad too cheerful, boy." A deep and rather strained voice growled from behind the young man. Liam just silently slipped past him and Ember, stopping only to briefly glance at Tiffanie a moment before stalking rather tensely to the opposite side of the room. Tag just made a face and mimicked him rudely under his breath. "Too cheerful...nyeh."
"Ignore him, he's a jerk. Really. Just..." He sighed. "Mph." His sentence went unfinished as his sister clapped a hand over his mouth and rolled her eyes.
"Tiffanie, right? Congratulations. That's uh, mostly what he was trying to say. Ignore the fact that he's a moron, 'kay?"
Tag struggled free and gave her a dirty look, but was distracted by the sight of jelly, waving pleasantly to the other new Weyrling around, a girl with a young blue, as he passed.
Ember sighed, collapsing into a chair next to another rather familiar red-haired woman- Faizah, the leader apparent of the motley crew of dragons and humans residing here. "Oh. You... you, um, alright? I saw you with the poor boy who got hurt. How...um....how's he doing?"
Liam just sighed heavily, and watched wearily as Kain left the hall, presumably to find others to bring back here. He ran a hand through short-cropped hair, noting absently it was getting a little long. He was...tired. Skirth, perched on a ledge outside and still seething slightly, checked on him every few minutes, but the tall rider just snapped at him in irritation and eventually the black dragon left him alone.
Of course, it didn't help he was one of only a few people present at the moment. Liam didn't like crowds, necessarily, but it was slightly better than being easily singled out. That...he did not like. Maybe it was a bad idea to have come early...especially considering the present company.

Headwoman Mira As Mira waited for the happy newly Impressed Weyrlings, she did last minute checks making sure that everything was in order. She whirled around as she heard Faizah's voice. She was about to answer when Kain entered as well. She saw Kain not letting Faizah get up off the chair and before she could ask what was wrong, Kain filled her in.
She gasped in horror and surprise at the news. Who would have thought that anyone would want to steal dragon eggs? And someone Impressed two dragon? Even I know that's unusual. Mira thought to herself. Now she knew the reason why Kain wanted Faizah to remain sitting. And looking more closely at her, Mira noticed that Faizah was rather more stressed than usual. With a firm nod of her head, she replied to the departing Kain, "Don't worry, hun, I'll make sure she stays in her seat and have her eating dinner." Then she called a servant over and instructed the lass to bring a plate of food for Faizah. Meanwhile, Mira stood by Faizah's side to make sure the young woman stayed in her seat. Calling for another servant, she told the lad to get a warm drink for Faizah, preferably tea. Then, she waited for the servants to arrive with the food and drink for Faizah as she also kept an eye out for the Weyrling that suppossedly double Impressed.
Weyrling Lesla and Weyrling A'ir Lesla trailed after A'ir and his two dragonets. She still could not believe the fact that he managed to Impress two instead of just the one, which was the norm. Still, you couldn't help but love those two dragonets who trailed after A'ir as the older and bigger dragonet protectively walked beside the younger and smaller dragonet. Houkath along with Seichou and Lovely had opted to retire to their weyr. Zeus on the other hand was perched on her right shoulder with his tail twinned possessively around her neck.
A'ir looked behind him to make sure that his dragonets were following after him and sure enough, the two were still there walking side-by-side and he just loved the way that Rakymath walked protectively beside Xenosmayth. He saw Lesla trailing after them and he paused until she caught up to him. He draped an arm around her shoulders as he said to her, "So, what do think? I Impressed not one, but two dragons. How cool is that?" in a joking manner. To be real honest, he didn't want others to look at him weirdly and he certainly didn't want Lesla to act strangely with him. So what if two dragons Impressed on him, it wasn't as if he could reject the affection of either dragon that chose him out of all the other Candidates present in the Hatching. Granted, there weren't that many, but Xenosmayth had chosen him, and A'ir wasn't about to say no to that choice.
Lesla contemplated on her answer before she spoke in a concerned voice, "I don't know what to think. I've never heard of anyone Impressing two dragons." After a pause, she asked, "How does it feel having to share your mind with two others?" as she looked behind them and down to where Rakymath and Xenosmayth stood looking about them.
A'ir shrugged at Lesla's question. "It doesn't feel too bad, if that's what you are worried about." he answered as he also looked behind them. He started walking again and dragged Lesla along with him. "Come on, despite having had dinner, I feel hungry again." he said as he savored the smell of cooked food arrayed on the food-laden buffet table. Lesla let herself be dragged as usual, and had to silently agree that she was hungry as well. Both of them made a beeline for the buffet table and put food on their plate. Then, they made their way in one of the many empty tables, sat down, set down their food-laden plates on the table and silently began eating.
Rakymath and Xenosmayth silently followed after Theirs until Theirs stopped to eat at a table with another. Curious, as to what Theirs was eating, the dragonets decided to have a seat themselves, beside Theirs. Rakymath first help Xenosmayth to get up on a chair then he moved to the next chair over and climbed on is as well. The pair looked curiously at Theirs wondering what the food Theirs was eating tasted like.
A'ir noting Xenosmayth and Rakymath had each claimed a chair beside him, he looked over them and almost laughed at their curious expression. "I'm eating human food. I doubt if you guys would like it, but would you like a taste?" A'ir asked as he offered a spoonful of beef stew letting his dragonets get a sniff of the dish's smell.
Rakymath and Xenosmayth both sniffed at the beef stew but each didn't really like the smell that they got after sniffing at it. Rakymath even went so far as to sneeze dislike of the smell of the food. Both knew that they would rather not have a taste and instead of both telling Theirs, it was Rakymath that responded. Thank you for the offer, Mine. But we'd rather not. Rakymath told Theirs and Theirs alone.
With a shrug of his shoulders, A'ir replied, "Suit yourselves, but I'm hungry so let me eat first before you start wandering off." as he once more started eating. The two dragonets were content enough to watch Theirs eat even though they were curious about the other folks present.
Lesla silently watched the exchange that went on between A'ir and the two dragonets. She smiled as Rakymath sneezed after taking a whiff of the beef stew. She herself was having none of those and was rather having some honey glazed ham, some mashed potatoes with gravy, some greenbean casserole, and some corn. For beverage, she had a glass of fruit juice, lemonade to be exact. Zeus had hopped down from his perch on her right shoulder and was now on the table eating some of her food, but not all of it. He was just curious about the corn.

Faizah thanked Mira even as she was ordering others about. She waved her hand at the urgent tone in the Headwoman's voice. "Really, Mira. I'm fine. Kain was overreacting. No need to have them running around like chickens with their heads cut off. They are going to spill something." When she noticed Adair, or perhaps he would want to be called A'ir now, walk in with Weyrling Lesla she smiled. Pointing the double bonded boy out to Mira she spoke again. "That's Adair. Came from Pern to try his luck here. Now he has twice the amount of dragons anyone else in the world does!" The red haired white rider couldn't help but smile. She had vaguely heard the unimpressed candidate, Tag's sister if she remembered correctly, ask her a question. But it was only after a few moments that it sunk in. "Oh! So sorry!" Faizah whirled around to face the girl. "Yes. Yes. Ku'rt is pretty bad, but we have every assurance that both he and his blue, Aricoth, will pull through. Perhaps a little more worse for wear, but they will pull through." Faizah explained. She still had that ghastly sight imbedded in her mind. Ku'rt bleeding and poor Aricoth lost and hurting. Even though nearly every dragon in the Weyr had been attempting to help, the blue had only settled after Surth's assurances. --- Kain walked back into the Main Hall, his eyes darting to Faizah. He was relieved she had stayed sitting. And she was considerably calmer now, talking to a girl whom was sitting next to her. Mira was close to Faizah, and he saw kitchen help running about. No doubt Mira had heeded his advice to get something into Faizah before she collapsed. Granted, she had a reason to be stressed. From what he could discreetly gather Ammon had been nagging her about paperwork and the whole storm problems last year. On top of that Nakia had been breathing down her sister's neck, restlessly needing assurance that Isath's clutch would be fine. There had also been Reyna's pregnancy and clutching, not to mention a rush of Pern riders to congratulate them on their clutch nd volunteer needed Candidates. And on top of all that was the weyrling pair's injuried and he egg theft tonight. Kain hoped good food and pleasant music would help dispell some of that. Not a moment after that thought reached his mind did he hear two distinct and different dragon keenings. Isath and Raynith. They had lost eggs and hatchlings tonight. And they hadn't been able to leave so much as a scratch on the thieves. Kain shook himself. He told those behind him to enjoy themselves, then started over to where Faizah, Mira and the other girl were seated.

There was a flurry of movement and a faint annoyed sound as an irate greenrider made his way into the kitchens. Irate mostly because of a particulalry grumpy green hiding in her weyr and sending constant irritated messages to him about recent events. And Synth being bitchy never iproved K'ryn's mood. So he did his best to grin and bear it, but he was annoyed from missing most of the hatching, and after hearing of the events from another weyrling, he was furious- not that he could have done anything, but still.
He sighed, and reached up a hand to stroke Braun's tiny cream-colored head as the white flit keened softly in sympathy and handed him a spoon from one of the tables. K'ryn just thanked him, and set it down the first second the white looked away.
Ah- there. He'd found his current target. A head full of bright red hair and a pair of weary-looking shoulders...and there went the long-haired bronzerider of a Weyrleader...ypu. That was her. "Faizah..." K'ryn said softly, coming up behind her and laying a hand on her shoulder. "You look like something the runners dragged through the mud." He said, jokingly. "But you know, it's a good look for you." He paused briefly to smile wearily at the other girl by her, another candidate who looked awfully familiar...ah, right a twin or something, to one of the riders here.
Some time just a little after the greenrider had barged in, another pair entered the feast. Neither of the two young Asian riders had been at the hatching, but both had pretty decent reasonings. The first was the willowy Miyuki, her dyed-pink hair swirling around her face as she nervously stumbled in. Her reason for being absent was her great Gold, Fayeth. Fayeth had been breathing hard even just after thier routine flight to the feeding grounds that morning, and her heartbeat had been frantic and fast for hours after, and the girl had not been willing to leave her dragon when she seemed so tired unusually.
And the other was tall bright-mohawked Shinjiro, who was still grinning like a madman and looking very curious at all the food. He immediately shrugged his jacket off, throwing it over one arm, and began to talk excitedly to his younger sister. His reason for missing the hatching had been more simple, but just as valid. His bronze was literally insane. No one had thought it a good idea to have him around so many hatchlings...
Miyuki smiled warmly at her brother, and kindly pointed to a seat. She was a little tired, and so she took a seat next to a dark haired girl with a large bronze flitter, who seemed stangely curious about corn. Her own flit was still wrapped demurely around her neck, the blue's head coming up and peeking out from behind her hair to inspect the bronze.
Shinji just waved to her, and went off to explore the tables of food; he was a teenager, and he was almost ALWAYS starving. But he found his path blocked by something really tall and person-like. He glanced up to just find a really rather displeased-looking rider, and he nervously took a step back. He knew the guy, they'd been weyrlings together at roughtly the same time, but that didn't stop there being something of a large age difference or the fact that well, the man just looked grumpy. "Er. Liam, right? Uh. Sorry."

Faizah looked up at K'ryn as he appeared seemingly out of no where. Upon hearing his comment, Faizah scrunched up her nose and stuck her tongue out at him in the childish gesture of 'screw you'. At the same time she placed her hand over his on her shoulder. She leaned back, closed her eyes and sighed heavily.
"Hard night, so far. How's Synth?" Faizah asked him, without opening her eyes.
Just then the servant Mira had sent for tea arrived, holding a decent sized cup of warm gren tea. Faizah nodded a thanks and began sipping from it.

Liam froze as someone said his name; a voice he didn't quite recognize, to be sure. Weirdly accented and- oh, damn it all to hell, it would probably be better just to look. He let out a long, annoyed sigh and opened his eyes, just to stare at the strange purple-haired kid in front of him. "Yeah, kid. That's my name." He growled, still not in the mood to be disturbed. But almost immediately, he relented, wincing. "Sorry. Shinjiro, right? Your dragon's the big bronze monster, Wrath." He sounded all knowledgeable and stuff, but really, Skirth was feeding him every line.
Somewhere behind him, something stirred. It was quiet, seething, and exceedingly interested in the tall rider and his funny-haired friend. So when a cinnamon-haired young man practically oozed his way over to them, smiling like a cat, Liam just growled quietly and glared at tyhe effeminate greenrider. Alright, they had technically actually never met, but Liam could just tell the flirty little thing was going to piss him off immensely.
K'vai just grinned and patted the brownrider's shoulder affectionately and grinned at them both. "Oh, please, silly boy. You needn't look so irritated; I just need to make friends. And spy on K'ryn's girlfriend." He said. At that, he sneaked past Liam and squinted over at the Weyrwoman. Hmph. What was so special about her?
