Thaddeus was...bored was not the word he would use.
He felt rather antsy...but of course, there were no horses up here. The dragons would scare them. And he had elected to stay for a dragon. Two of the smaller females had clutched, and he had had everything explained to him.
He was just supposed to stand there and watch them Hatch and if he was lucky, one of them would choose to bond to him. The colors meant more than aesthetics...and he had been warned there was unlikely to be a bronze, the largest and highest status of the males, in either clutch. The gold females apparently bonded only to women.
But he was not sure he cared. He wanted a dragon, not a military rank. They were beautiful, and he had seen the affection between them and their riders.
"I wonder when these famous eggs are going to hatch, anyway."
The whers...the flightless versions...had had their own hatching. He had half considered asking if he could go for one, but he was not sure he wanted to work nights for the rest of his life...

(We have horses. They become accustomed to the dragons.)
Mentari walked calmly into the common room, Christopher dozing contentedly in her arms. She was surprised to see someone else there. Normally the common room was simply deserted. Over her shock quite quickly, Mentari smiled at the man. "Hello." she said conversationally to him.

( Okay. Sorry, then. )
Tad glanced over at the girl who had entered. "Hello." She seemed very young, and in her arms curled one of the miniature dragons. A blue...which meant it was a male. Quite an attractive creature...he should, he thought, perhaps try and get himself one. "I'm Tad," he added, cheerfully enough.
Either she had not heard his comment about the eggs or had chosen not to respond to it. Two clutches from small females, sired by medium-sized males. There were not *that* many eggs, and he was certainly in no hurry to bond a dragon. Or was he? The idea let a certain enthusiasm flow through him, but it was as quiet as any other emotion he experienced.
At the very least, watching them Hatch should prove an interesting experience.
This girl, though...he knew he had seen her around, but he could not place where, let alone her name.

(it's okay. maybe he just hasn't found the stables yet? ^^)
Mentari nodded. "I'm Mentari, Faizah's little sister." She jerked her head downwards, towards the blue in her arms. "This is Christopher."
Mentari took a seat in one of the beanbag chairs, shifting the little blue so that her arms were free, and grabbed the radio remote. She turned it on, then lowered the volume so that it was a comforting drone in the background. Like Faizah, Mentari tended to get edgy when there wasn't noise in the background. Mentari even had to sleep with the radio on.
She looked back up at the man. "Nice to meet you, Tad. Do you have a flitter?" She asked politely.

Tad shook his head. "Not yet. I'm told you have to get them as eggs."
Faizah was the woman in charge of the dragonriders, by whatever rules they determined such. Her dragon was...the really big white one, that was right. He thought he would definitely not mind a dragon like that, but then...from what he had been told, he had no choice. "I keep missing the hatchings. I definitely want one, though."
Maybe she could make sure he found his way to the next one that happened. Kids had great radar for such things, far better than anything their elders might possess. "Your blue is very cute."

Mentari smiled broadly at the compliment to Christopher. "He's one of gold Reyna's hatchlings." She thought a moment, then added. "Lakeen's Maria has a clutch hardening. You should come to that. Maybe you'll get a flitter."
At that moment Christopher opened one whirling eye. He looked between hisMentari and Tad, then chirped in welcome to the new man.

OOC: There are Maria-spawn left? I figured I'd missed the last two clutches in terms of signing up with vacation and wisdom tooth removal and all that.
"Maybe I will." Tad reached out. "Would he let me pet him, do you think? There was one eye open on the blue's head, and it had that sort of whirling quality dragon eyes had. They were just like the dragons...only far, far smaller. Well put together creatures, really...he supposed that on their planet, for whatever reason, a six limbed design had won out.
Tad did not really believe in the creationist philosophy his old man had spouted. And he certainly wasn't going to voice anything about either in front of the kid sister of the woman who ran the place. "So. What color dragon are you hoping to Impress?"
He knew the colors were more than just aesthetics, even if he didn't yet fully understand the hierarchy.

Mentari nodded at his request to pet Christopher. The little blue stretched his neck up and nudged the man's fingertips, almost as if to say "Hurry up and pet me!" Mentari laughed slightly at the blue.
She was surprised when he asked what color she hoped to Impress. She thought for a moment, then answered with a smile. "Green. I want her to have hatchlings like Reyna and Maria do. When I got here I wanted blue, but greens are mothers." Mentari said with conviction enough for a girl thrice her age of twelve years.
