Natan sat down heavily in the cushy arm chair in the library. He'd come here to get away from all the hustle and bustle of Weyrlife and take some time to fill in his drawing pad. Leaning his immobile arm on the rest, he picked up his pencil and stared at the wall nearest him, thinking of what to draw... ((OOC::so, someon, doesnt matter who, intterupts him? or just shows up, idk phazzy- you said you wanted to rp ))

With the awful weather outside, and despite his urge to start another snowball fight, Ku'rt spent the better portions of his day inside. Since his dragon wasn't spending his days outside either, it became less of a hassle to clean the blue, especially with his injuries, leaving more free time for Ku'rt. The downside was that Ku'rt didn't know what he could do. Despite his extended stay on Earth, he was still new to the place. He hadn't ventured past the forest that lay claim to the lands outside the weyr. The furthest he went was to seek out Aricoth from his crash landing after Jadavath's Flight.
The blue was doing well though. Since splinting his wing, and making various other patch-ups, Aricoth wasn't doing much talking. Ku'rt's gentle pushes to get more than a grunt or a snort out of the depressed dragon ended only in a blunt dismissal, and the blue weyrling possibly more depressed than his dragon. Green firelizard Luna wasn't doing much better. "Aricoth, it's not your fault..." he had said multiple times, scratching the blue's eye ridge vigorously to cheer Aricoth up. Each attempt ended in failure, and Ku'rt walking away with his head hanging. The saddened blue was affecting Ku'rt's own emotions. To get away from the unwanted feelings, the weyrling took a walk through the weyr. There was but one part he had yet to explore.
The library.
It was a secluded place. Away from the rest of the weyr. And for good reason: Ku'rt assumed this place was like the records room back home that he never got to see the inside of. Rumor had it that he had to be quiet while inside this 'library' so perhaps Luna wasn't the best flitter to bring along? Similarly changed by Aricoth's lack of activity, Luna curled around Ku'rt's shoulders with barely a twitch, perfectly passing off for a little green scarf. Walking through the hallways of the weyr, Ku'rt reached up to pat at the flitter's head. "Yes, Aricoth is fine. He'll be fine. Don't worry, Luna," he muttered, more to himself than the green firelizard.
The weyrling rounded a corner, and before him, the simplistic doors of the library stood. Ku'rt raised an eyebrow. Should he really go in? Oh why not? Pushing open the door with a silent squeak, Ku'rt slipped inside. He gave a half-smile to the lady at the front desk, and made his way through the many shelves of books. They weren't scrolls, that's for sure. A few elegantly designed spines caught his eye with golden fancy swirls of text against a solid-color background. He skimmed over these though, his finger gently passing over the spines. No reading for him. Ku'rt was set on exploring the library--oh who was that?
Ku'rt's attention was brought to a young man in a large armchair in an open area. The other resident had to be around Ku'rt's age. And he had not seen him around either. Well, maybe he did, but he didn't pay attention. Ku'rt didn't have much outside socializing with his fellow weyrlings, and the older riders. The blue weyrling sauntered up to the other man, his hands clasped lightly behind his back. "So..." he began softly. The other man looked so small in the chair, and Ku'rt soon figured out why. He was crippled--disfigured. He seemed to shrivel up into the folds of the armchair. That didn't stop Ku'rt though. "I'm Ku'rt," he introduced himself, stepping forward. He noticed the sketchpad. "And I'm bothering you, aren't I? I'm sorry; I'll leave." Ku'rt turned away, and started to leave.

Natan had pulled his legs up onto the chair as well, which made him seem even smaller to most people, but the artist was concentrated on the miniature dragon he was drawing.
He didn't even notice at first the weyrling near him. "Huh? Oh!" Natan looked up and looked sheepishly at the other. "Sorry, i was intent on my drawing-- did you say something? Oh, right! Nah, you're not bothering me. You're... K'urt.. I'm Natan, i'm a dragon candidate. You dont have to leave." He somehow managed to say all of that in two breaths, then worried- had the weyrling heard him at all? He'd been speedtalking again, of course!
Natan put his legs off the chair and straightened.
His lisp surely didn't make that sentence any easier to understand! He sighed, and moved the crippled arm with his good one. His legs, thankfully, didn't hurt him today, so that was good.
Natan noticed a green something on K'urt's shoulders, and peered closely for a few seconds. Under his breath, he figured it out "Oh, he has a firelizard like me.."
They were lucky Bubbles hadn't popped in here yet.

"Huh? Oh! Sorry, I was intent on my drawing-- did you say something? Oh, right! Nah, you're not bothering me. You're... K'urt.. I'm Natan, I'm a dragon candidate. You don't have to leave."
He had a foot in the air, just about to place it down and step forward, when the candidate's voice stopped him. "I'm sure I'm a bother to you," Ku'rt turned around, his face falling into a frown. "I just seem to be a bother to everyone, don't I?" he wondered, asking no one. But Natan did say he didn't have to leave... A frown still lurking on his face, Ku'rt creeped over to an open chair opposite the young candidate. The injury that limited Natan was hardly a bother to the open-minded weyrling. "It's Ku'rt," he corrected Natan, putting the emphasis on placement of the apostrophe. Sitting in the armchair, Ku'rt was perfectly comfortable to twiddle his thumbs. "Yeah."
Ku'rt fidgeted, and looked around the library. They couldn't be too loud, he had heard from other weyrlings. So what was there to do in a library? Read? Kinda boring. Ku'rt shifted forward, attempting to see if he could get a look at the drawing Natan was working on, but decided it would be too much trouble. He dropped the subject in his mind. "You said you're a dragon candidate? ... Wouldn't it be hard to care for a dragon... Like that?" the weyrling ventured, gesturing to Natan's arm. "I mean, bathing and oiling? That's kinda hard to do by yourself, not to mention with only one arm." Ku'rt noticed the way he had to pick up his arm to move it. "Even Aricoth's a pain to wash, and he's tiny!"
A squawk from Luna stopped Ku'rt's motor mouth. The green flitter squeaked and crawled down the weyrling's arm to peer at Natan. "Oh, I'm sorry. I really shouldn't--augh. This is an awful--whatever. I'll--I'll just stop now. Really." Ku'rt groaned, and shoved his face into his waiting hands. Aricoth's awful mood was making him so... Different, and not himself. Ku'rt really needed to stop. "I'm very sorry. I probably should have just left. That would have been a better idea. I'm just taking up your time here," Ku'rt mumbled into his hands, and made half an effort to stand.

Natan looked up when Ku'rt corrected him and sat down, and went back to his drawing. Without looking up, he chuckled, and twiddled his pencil to erase smudge marks on the page. "I said it before and it holds true: You aren't bothering me. I'm drawing, so i basically tune the world out, but what i do hear tends to be interesting. Sorry if i'm not too good with the conversation thing!" natan looked up at Ku'rt "You're right, my.. inury will make it harder for me, but it's only an arm, and i'll do whatever it takes to belong to and with a dragon. Now that i look at you, i recognize you! You're the blindblue's rider, aren't you? Well, if a dragon can be crippled, and still do normal things like your Aricoth attempted, why couldn't a human that is only missing the function of one arm do so as well? I'm just saying," Natan's voice was still quiete as ever, yet it seemed to carry farr, "That i understand my.. possible problems and have chosen to attempt to overcome them. Even if i fail, at least i tried, right?" Natan was surprised at how much he'd said, and he hoped this strangely true advice from his mouth helped out Ku'rt... the rider seemed.. unhappy and awkward, even moreso than Natan usually was. The candidate took a good look at his picture, and smiled. The dragon was a near-perfect drawing of Aricoth. He turned the little book around and showed the rider.

Nodding as the candidate explained his lack of hearing while distracted, Ku'rt watched Natan's drawing hand. He erased something on the page as he talked, multitasking perfectly despite the fact that he didn't listen while working. "I am bothering you, am I not? You're drawing. I shouldn't be here. You said so yourself." The weyrling sighed deeply. "You're gonna have to work hard for your dragon," Ku'rt explained, looking up from his hands. "Weyrling Master L'gar isn't going to be easy on you because you... Because of... that." He gestured to the candidate's arm, unwilling to say anything about the crippled arm, lest he spark some inward wrath upon himself.
You're the blindblue's rider, aren't you? Well, if a dragon can be crippled, and still do normal things like your Aricoth attempted, why couldn't a human that is only missing the function of one arm do so as well?
"Um. Yeah. I'm Aricoth's rider. I don't know how you've heard of me, but I guess I can't complain..." Ku'rt trailed off, his eyes flicking off to the side for a moment before returning to Natan. "But Aricoth's nothing like a human," he pointed out, raising an eyebrow. "He's blind. Not missing a limb or anything. And he doesn't use his claws in the same way a human uses them." Natan then lifted up the sketchpad and showed the drawing to Ku'rt. "Is that Aricoth?" he asked, peering at the drawing. Luna chirped. "It's very good."

Natan smiled, and put the little book in his lap "Yeah, it is, thanks. So, what're you doing in here?" Natan wondered. "Because, sorry if im rude, you dont look much like the sort who read... alot." unlike me he thought ruefully.
Natan was debating whether or not to get up and look for ra book right now.. he wondered if the Weyr had any fiction books.
