The First Night

[Samari]

Dylan felt totally at ease up in the mountains. It was snowing, which gave him fond memories of Sweden. Dylansk was munching away on a downed turkey. The young blue made a trilling noise as he looked back at his Bonded.



"Blood.Yum. Happy?"[/color]



Dylansk was inquiring if Dylan was happy. He nodded an affirmative and it sent his blue into a tizzy.


"Good. Dylansk happy too."[/color]

Lakeen and Mentari were walking around, enjoying the night-time snowfall. Lakeesk was still in his weyr, not wanting to go outside that night. He didn't like the snow at all. Lakeen took in a deep breath, enjoying it. She looked over at Mentari before she spoke, a small smile on her face. "Now I understand why Faizah loves the night so much. It's refreshing."

Mentari nodded. "It's nice for it to snow. Reminds me of home." Mentari said.

Lakeen remembered every place they had moved to since she was in school, but she knew of only one place Mentari called home. Lakeen nodded as well, then smiled as she thought of something. "How about we go up to the feeding grounds? The stables are right next to it, and Faizah was thinking about getting us our own horses."

Mentari nodded happily.

[Samari]

Dylan turned slightly as he heard voices coming from behind him. Dylansk looked up from his meal as well. He checked on HisDylan.




"Hear something? What?"[/color]



Dylan shrugged. He was a man of few words when it came to Dylansk and himself. They decided around the third month that not a lot needed to be said between the pair.



"Hallo."

Lakeen suddenly looked up, only now seeing someone else there. As she spotted the blue wher, she almost thought it might be Trinity, but was glad to find it was a boy, not the sour Trinity. She smiled as she returned the greeting. "Hello."

Mentari was more than happy to meet someone. She waved, smiling as she also greeted the new person. "Hi."

Suddenly a little blue flit, only a few hours old, appeared from between and landed quickly on Mentari's shoulder. He hid himself effectively between her warm neck and the hood that was down.

[Samari]

Dylan smiled as Cosmo popped into view, chirping at his semi-hidden blue brother. The Swedish male turned and waved to Mentari as well.



"How are you dis fine vinter's eve?"




He found it hard not to speak with his heavy accent. He hoped sincerely it didn't confuse the pair.



Dylansk finished up his turkey, cleaning his mouth off. He coughed a couple times. He trotted up beside Dylan, and spoke directly to Lakeen.

"Bronzesmell. Where at?[/color]

Lakeen smiled. "He's at his weyr. He doesn't like the snow." She then turned to the man. "I'm good this winter's eve, as you put it. Yourself?" She asked.

Mentari smiled and patted Christopher on the head. "I'm Mentari." She mentioned to the new man and his blue creature. A Wher, Lakeen had called them.

[Samari]

Dylan smiled and patted his blue on the head. The young wher wheezed and coughed again. He wasn't as adjusted to the cold as Dylan was. He could breath easier while his face was warmed by blood. Dylansk chased after another turkey and caught it. Dylan chuckled again.



"His illness makes it hard on him to stand the cold...I'm afraid to let him out for very long on nights like these..."



Cosmo flapped over towards Mentari's blue and cheeped. He wanted to meet his younger cousin.

Christopher chirped back at the older blue. Tentatively he left the warmth of Mentari's shoulder and joined his fellow blue in flying.

Lakeen nodded. "The cold effects many things differently. My Lakeesk doesn't really have a defect, but he is very violent and mean. I'm glad he stayed back in the weyr tonight."

Mentari nodded with wide, green eyes. "Lakeesk is very mean. He tried to eat Christopher tonight... And he bit Kain..." She whispered.

Just then another flit, green this time, appeared. She flapped over to Lakeen, but then noticed the blues and greeted them with a cheep.

[Samari]

Dylansk huffed and wheezed rather loudly. He buried his face in the warm flesh-meat of the now dead turkey. He shivered and projected a piteous mental thought to Dylan.



"Please.Warm soon. Lungs go ow."[/color]




Dylan hated having to leave Dylansk in his Dig, but he didn't want his friend dying on him either.



"Dylansk might haff to return to his Dig soon...His lungs are hurting him, he says."


Cosmo cooed to the green that had just arrived. She was a mighty pretty flitter.

Maria trilled back at the older blue. She thought him to be a very handsome flitter.

Lakeen nodded. "It won't do for him to be in pain."

Mentari was too busy watching the flits to pay attention to her elder sister and the man.

[Samari]

Dylan nodded and watched his wher finish eating what he wanted. The Swedish man nodded at the blue and then gestured toward the Dig they'd chosen. The wher happily oblidged and scooted as quickly as possible towards the dig.





Cosmo stretched out and flexed for the pretty green. He liked showing off for pretties of his kind.




From the Dig of Dylansk and Dylan came a big black dog. Brigit woofed and leaped over the low part of the fence to come to her master. She wagged her tail and licked his face.



"Ey! Watch it Brigit!"

Maria did a few flips in midair, showing off and flirting with the blue. Christopher watched and decided to do a few flips of his own, just for the fun.

Lakeen smiled at the big, black dog. "Newfoundland?" She asked.

[Samari]

Dylan nodded and was licked again by his massive Newfie. Cosmo chirped at the dog and flapped over to sit on her shoulders. Brigit oblidged with the lizard on her back.





"Ya. She was a birthday gift for my sweet 16. I love her to pieces."

"That's cool. We once had a newfie mix. Do you remember Mentari?" She asked as she reached her hand out to be sniffed by Bridgit.

Christopher was still doing loops and was chittering like a squirrel, he was having so much fun. But Maria was displeased the blue had stopped paying attention to her. She winged over and trilled at him, inviting him to play with her and the little blue.
