Sari was walking through the halls that were so new to her. She had only been here a few hours and was still trying to adjust to the area.
Learning the way around is always the hardest part.
Orros flitted around in the hall in front of her trying to find the way to the main hall.
Following him until she was hopelessly lost always worked to force her to learn the weyrs in the past, so why not now? she watched him disappear around the turn ahead and heard a 'thump.' Hopefully he hadn't already found someone with to much to steal.

T'sai strolled down the corridors with his head high and his shoulders slightly hunched. He had finished his morning warm-up exercises and was about to head out for his jog. The crisp morning air would bite his lungs and sting his cheeks, but he would love every moment of it. Running was a great passion for T'sai. In times of great duress, he would often find himself hurtling through the desert sand around Igen Weyr. Running relaxed him, not as much as water, but it was to cold to swim.
As he thought of his impending run with more and more eagerness, T'sai noticed a small blue firelizard heading straight at him with a girl his age following it closely.

Orros was the first to react to the new person. He immediately flitted over to him and started looking for shiny things on him and began inspecting for shiny things as he did with all people he met, whether it be through pockets or down a shirt.
Luckily for this new person, Sara was accustomed to this and had Orros in her arms before he managed to get more than his head down the man's shirt.
"I-I'm sorry, sir," she stammered. "He is just looking to see if you have anything shiny on you. He does it to every one."
She looked down, almost ready for the scolding she would get like time from the last rider that Orros got his claws on.
"My name is Sara."
She offered her free hand to the guy in front of her hoping for the best.

T'sai cocked an eyebrow at the firelizard, but took the offered hand. Firelizards often did odd things, but that was no excuse to be rude.
"I am T'sai of Brown Gruulath. You are one of the new candidates?"

"Yes i am. I'm trying to learn my way around the weyr. I find it best to get lost to truly find your way around."
She rubbed down the little flits head to calm it down before placing him on her shoulder.
"I hope you don't mind new friends. Orros often likes to take shiny things from people... Hes odd like that... If anything comes up missing just find me. I'm sure he will have it in one of his sachets."
Sara was glad there had only been this one aquwerd encounter today, all tho there would likely be more.
"How long have you been with Gruulath?"

T'sai watched Sara calm her firelizard down and place him on her shoulder. He sounded like a real handful. T'sai had nothing against firelizards, he just didn't want one. Other people seemed quite fond of them though. While T'sai was looking at Orros, Sara asked him about Gruulath.
"We've been partners around two years. Impressing him was the best thing that ever happened to me."

Sara smiled slightly while she continued to keep a hand on Orros to keep him from pouncing on the pocket she could see him eying.
"I could say the same about this little guy. Hes like a best friend that can literally be there in a few seconds when you need him."
This rider isn't as bad as some of the others. Hes kinda nice.
She smiled and looked away from Orros and back to T'sai.
"And what might you be doing this fine morning?"

T'sai leaned against the wall lazily and crossed his arms. If one was going to stand while talking, they might as well be comfortable.
"I was headed out for my morning jog. I like to tackle the day before it really begins. Gives me a sense of accomplishment to last through other set backs. Plus, it keeps me in shape."
Throwing a knowing smirk at the curious firelizard, T'sai shrugged off his hoodie and tossed it over to the girl.
"Let him go ahead and dig through that. His stare is rather disconcerting."

Orros quickly picked up on what was allowed as the hoodie was in mid-air. He jumped at it and landed on the floor, with it already in a wadded heap, himself in the center of course.
While Orros was distracted by a few shiny nickles, Sara leaned against the wall beside T'sai.
"He often does that. I hope you know you won't be getting anything he finds back anytime soon."
She laughed under her breath remembering all the times before his little tricks to get what he wanted before.
"Once he followed a man around the weyr for almost a strait week over a few of his fishing hooks."
She looked back to T'sai.
"You can tell if he likes you if he ever brings anything shiny to you...."
She looked back to her little flit, who was now upside down rolling, with a bit of change in his claws, and picked up the man's hoodie and got most of the dust off.
"Well looks like you shouldn't have to worry about him staring for a while at least."
She offered his hoodie back, and awaited his reaction to her flits strange behavior.

T'sai took his hoodie back and shrugged it back on. The firelizard seemed intent on keeping the Earth money that T'sai had left in there from purchasing something called 'espresso' from a town earlier in the week. He didn't mind all that much. The drink had been rancid, and T'sai wasn't ready to try the 'Irish Milk' that had been suggested.
"Well that is quite a relief. Don't worry about the way he acts. Firelizards do odd things all the times."

"Yes, but I have heard he is particularly odd in his ways."
Orros flipped back over, then quickly went between.
"Well there he goes to store his new treasures.. Would you mind company on you jog T'sai? I really have nowhere to be any time soon."

T'sai shrugged. He usually jogged alone, but it was rude to turn down a lady. Besides, if she could keep up, then the company might be welcome.
"I don't mind. Are you ready to go now, or do you have to change?"

"I should be fine. Well, maybe not, but ill get...."
As if on cue Orros came back from his treasure stock.
"Oh, good timing. Orros, go get my coat. The big one. You can do it."
She focused on the tag she had put on it to help him in training. Hopefully he would get it right and not embarrass her.
He flapped around in the air a moment before disappearing again.
"I've been trying to train him to fetch my things. he usually gets this one right. it has a shiny button he likes."

T'sai nodded and waited in the hallway with Sara while her fire-lizard was gone. As they were waiting, T'sai thought he would lay down the course for the new girl.
"We'll start by running down to the lake. After a lap around the lake, we'll move on to a quick jog through the outskirts of the woods. Eventually there will be a path that leads you into town, we'll follow that. In town we can stop for a rest and a drink before starting back towards the Weyr. It may not sound like much, but we'll be running fourteen miles all together. Seven down to the town, and seven back. Do you think you can do that?"
~I don't really know how far away the nearest town is, so I estimated.~

"Ha, is that it? My little sister could do better."
Orros came back, with the right coat, and handed his delivery to Sara.
"Good boy!"
Sara put on her coat and promply got Orros in her arms and rubbed his little head.
"Well T'sai, lead the way. I'm hoplessly lost as of now."

T'sai nodded and led the way out of the Weyr and on to the path. Then he stopped and began stretching and doing warm-up exercises. When he was finished, the Brown rider looked over at Sara.
"Ready?"
Without waiting for an answer, T'sai took off. He couldn't help himself. Running, swimming, the basic movement of the body in a strenuous an constant pattern is what he lived for.

"Hey!!"
Sara took off after T'sai.
I can Make it down, I know, but going up will be a bit more challenging... Oh, to hell with it, I'm going to have fun.
She caught up to T'sai, and ran with his pace.
"I bet i can beat you down!"
She ran ahead of him quickly, jumping over a few posable triping hazzards, then slowing a bit just incase he caught up too quick.

T'sai shook his head and called out.
"This isn't a race. If you use up to much energy to fast, you'll never make the distance. You have to pace yourself until the home stretch. That's when you give it your all."
Catching up with the girl easily in a few long bounds, T'sai looked down at her.
"Okay?"

Sara smiled and pushed T'sai over a little.
"I am. I'm not new to running you know, I did it every day before."
She sprinted ahead a little, jumping over another obstical. She kept her pace just a little ahead of T'sai, hopefull to drive him crazy at a girl being faster, but just close enough to still talk.
"So, how long have you been doing this ammout of running? Or joging or whatever you want to call it.. Im no stranger to it, myself."
She was ok in the more wooded areas of trails, after all free running with all her old friends around town had prepaired her for the stunts others would think imposable.

T'sai didn't speed up or slow down once. He liked continuation and constant, alternating between sprinting and jogging took the fun out of it for him.
"I'm originally Hold born to a poorer family. I learned how to strengthen my body at a young age. I prefer swimming, but running is second best. Even though I'm not working for money or food anymore, I decided to keep up my athletic abilities and exercise multiple times everyday. Gruulath sometimes becomes exasperated with me."

Sara mostly understood where he was comming from, but didn't quite understand why he would want to keep up running around, but hey, everyone had hobbies.
"Wow.. I havent't been swiminig in years.... I think the last time was when i was 11. Back in the day, I ran to school. My mom coulden't drive everyone so the oldest walked."
She got lost in thought of her mom back down in Chattanooga, and almost triped.
Strugling to regain her composure she stammerd," I definatly ment to do that".
She blushed and focused on not triping again hopeing he didn't see how red she was.

T'sai raised an eyebrow. He had heard of cars and driving, but had no mental image to tack onto the words. Apparently driving was a faster way of getting around than walking, but if one child was able to make it to 'school' in the same time slot a 'car' could, then didn't that make the point moot?
Shaking his head at Earth people customs, T'sai ignored the girl's stumble. Sara seemed embarrassed enough. It wouldn't do to mention it.

"Umm... Well... How far did you say it was down?"
Sara's blush didn't fade any, simply for the fact that T'sai was actualy being polite about it. Such a quality was so hard to come by in people her age.

T'sai answered her question without pause in breath or stride.
"It's about seven mile down, and seven back."
Digging a water bottle out of his cargo pockets, T'sai held it out towards Sara.
"You might want this later."

Sara took the water, greatfull that he had brought some. Its the one usefull thing Orros wasn't trained to retrive.
"Haha.. Very true. I dont think Orros can do water bottles yet, but I could always try. How long do you normaly run this?"
