Gregory groggily surfaced from his deep sleep. His mind was a haze of jumbled thought and fuzzy awareness. There was something warm and firm beside him. Gregory's sleep addled mind wasn't quite sure what it was yet, but it felt really nice. The warmth was enticing and Gregory snuggled against it.
Somewhere in the back of his head, Gregory knew something wasn't right when he woke to the warmth and comfort. He usually woke slightly chilled from throwing his blankets off with his tossing and turning. There was really something wrong with the way he woke now, but for the life of him, his drowsy mind didn't care.
Slamming the door shut on all thought before he could wake up further, Gregory nuzzled against the source of the warmth next to him and slipped into a light doze. He was so tired.

The sumptuous feeling of skin against skin stirred the weyrlingmaster out of his deep, peaceful sleep. He didn't wake up exactly, but rather stayed as inert as possible without going into REM sleep. L'gar remained this way for a few minutes, but his habitual early morning routine eventually cracked the man's eyes open.
His arm was casually draped over a body in front of him, and as the man - for the broad back could not belong to a woman - snuggled into him, L'gar affectionately squeezed in return, a soft smile coming across his face. Without moving his head, L'gar's eyes wandered around the room and along his partner's body. Ah yes, he began to remember, Zed had won Jadavath's Flight, which meant that the man in front of him was Gregory.
Memories flooding back into his mind, the brownrider wondered if the night had been as pleasant for the weyrling as it was for him. L'gar wasn't known to be a particularly rough lover, but he worried if the past night had been Gregory's first homosexual experience. Regardless of any sexual history he may have had with women, a night between two men was a different animal all together. He couldn't be sure which gender the young man was actually interested in, but, being his teacher, that hadn't really been high on his priority list. Nonetheless, Gregory being a greenrider, there was a good chance this hadn't been his first time with a man.
Mentally shaking himself of his confused thoughts, L'gar shifted carefully away from the weyrling and sat up, rubbing his eyes. It was meant, not to disturb the man but, to see if he was actually awake yet. L'gar wasn't the type of partner to initiate conversation bright and early after a roll in the furs. There was no telling how the other was feeling.
Suddenly realizing he was still in the infirmary, L'gar groaned. Hopefully they hadn't made too much of a spectacle of themselves.
((This is nearly museless, I apologize. <33 :d))

As the warmth slid away from Gregory, the Greenrider was pulled from his doze and back into the real world. With his eyes still closed Gregory stretched slowly and languidly. There were a few kinks and twinges in his muscles, and he wanted to get them all out. Gregory reveled in the stretch for a moment until his legs brushed against something. That something felt worryingly like another pair of legs. Gregory's eyes slid open cautiously and he turned his head up a little to see that there was indeed another person in the bed.
The thought had barely registered before Gregory panicked. Flinging himself backwards and away from his bedmate with a small and decidedly unmanly squeak, Gregory nearly unbalanced himself and fell off the bed. Luckily for the young Greenrider there was a handle bar on the side of all hospital beds. His arms flew downwards towards his stabilizer, and Gregory winced as his wrist gave a painful protest. Thankfully his wrist didn't seem mush worse for wear.
Breathing heavily and trembling, Gregory did his best to calm down. Sure this was his first sexual experience, but that was no reason to freak out so dramatically. He was straight. This one night romp meant nothing, right? Besides, the Pern riders had always said that this was going to happen. He just had to get through it.
Oh God, what is my mother going to think? Wait, what am I thinking? I'm so not telling my mother about any of this.
Taking a shaky and embarrassed breath, Gregory swallowed before addressing the older rider.
"C-could I have your name? I think it's only fair."

Oh shards, L'gar thought painfully as his attention was drawn behind him to Gregory's startled flailing. A concerned look edged it's way into his facial expression, and he looked the boy over.
"C-could I have your name? I think it's only fair."
L'gar was surprised at Gregory's trembling tone, but especially his question, as if L'gar would have just shoved off without another word to him. It hurt, but the rider decided to chalk it up to his inexperience with mating Flights - which unfortunately brought up another worrying possibility. It would seem to the brownrider, by his startled reaction and timid demeanor, that it had indeed been Gregory's first experience with a man. There was nothing to be done about it of course, but L'gar felt quite bad that his delightful experience had not been shared.
"Of course.." He said, with an especially warm tone and a small smile. "It's L'gar, of brown Zedoreth." He paused, watching the weyrling's expression. He was a tad surprised that the lad didn't recognize him. Not because he thought himself a man of note, necessarily, but considering he would soon be in his weyrling classes, he would have figured the greenweyring would have taken an interest in finding that sort of thing out.
"Are you alright?" He added, genuinely concerned. Being the object of the man's anxiety, L'gar wasn't sure if he should try and comfort Gregory, or quickly take his leave. These were tricky times, morning afters.

Gregory had finally managed to calm his pounding heart down to a manageable level. If a Pernese man could do this, so could he. It was the price to pay for his beautiful, his magnificent Jadavath. Besides, L'gar's presence was surprisingly calming. The Brownrider didn't seem threatening at all.
Nothing particularly traumatizing about the previous night stood out in Gregory's mind, and he was feeling a little embarrassed about freaking out the way he had.
Jadavath stirred slightly and sent an inquisitive thought.
Is all well? You were panicking.
Gregory hastened to console her, and after a few waves of assurance, Jadavath resumed her slumber against the Brown that had won her.
Turning his attention back on L'gar, Gregory shyly picked at the sheets and squirmed away from the edge of the bed. He had probably insulted the man enough without giving the impression of avoidance.
"I'm fine. It's just- They don't really teach us how to deal with this on Earth. I've never been with anyone at all. This, while expected, still came as a surprise. Sorry. I didn't mean to react they way I did. I'm normally more composed."
Laughing nervously, Gregory tried not to sound too stupid.

At Jadavath's stirring, Zed did the same but quickly snuggled back against his lovely green. An annoyed prodding soon reached L'gar, however, insisting that he stop bothering Jadavath's.
It's not my fault.. Go back to sleep. He answered irritatedly.
Gladly.
As Gregory tried to explain himself, L'gar exhaled and pursed his lips. "Don't worry about it, Gregory. It's understandable. It's just frustrating to think that you didn't have any lessons on this before you left Pern. Especially with a green.. They're so quick to mature." He began trailing off as he thought to himself, absently looking at the white partition that blocked the view of the human entrance. Realizing that he was indeed still in conversation, the brownrider turned back to Gregory.
"So how old was she when you arrived here anyway?" He asked, clearly interested.
L'gar had made it a point during his time here at Rocky to become as knowledgeable about it's inhabitants as possible; especially his weyrlings. How this nugget of information had fallen through the cracks, he had no idea, but he was sure the lad was supposed to be in his classes by now. In the Beta wing, specifically. This was just another ruffle to smooth out in the budding Weyr; immediate integration into the appropriate classes. L'gar's thoughts continued to wander slightly as he waited for Gregory's answer.

Gregory thought back to his arrival. It had been a few days before Jdavath's birthday if he went by Earth's calendar. Should he round up or get specific? Should the different number of months and days be incorporated into his estimation? The question was not designed to be this difficult, but Gregory had a knack for complicating things.
"She was about a year old. I don't know how that works on a Pern calendar, but I guess the thirteenth month year is what made her Flight a tad delayed here. I'm not sure. I never was a math whiz. I'm really good with history though."
Pausing, Gregory took this time to look around him. He noticed that his bed had been blocked off with one of those white hospital curtains.
At least there was some privacy. That makes me feel a little better.
There was a lull in Gregory's thoughts before his mind made a connection between L'gar's name and some vague memory. The realization was slow in coming, and that's what probably made it more shocking.
"Wait. You're L'gar!"

It seemed a synapse in Gregory's brain had just connected. His surprised exclamation caught L'gar off guard as he was about to respond to his answer about Jadavath.
"..yes." He chuckled slightly. "You've got a great memory." The rider joked, having revealed that information just moments before. Pausing, he tried to figure out what was really the matter with the weyrling. Ah, maybe he just realized he had slept with his future teacher.. That could be cause for concern. Well, might as well make sure before trying to console the kid again, L'gar thought. Playing dumb to Gregory's traumatic epiphany, the brownrider continued with their previous conversation topic.
"A year old already, huh? And they didn't get you to that lesson yet." L'gar shook his head. "That's ridiculous." He glanced back at the weyrling trying to gauge his expression. Maybe the change of subject had diffused the situation? "The next lesson for the Gamma wing is on Flights, if you wanted to sit in." Unless he felt this experience had shoved enough information in his face, L'gar mused. "Otherwise, you'd be in Beta wing." He added, looking towards the weyrling again for his reaction.

Gregory's mind had all but halted after the revelation that he had slept with his would be teacher. He would never be able to look the man in the eye again. Not to mention the awkwardness that would arise when classes did begin. It didn't help matters that the man was teasing him. L'gar probably already knew what Gregory meant, and yet he was teasing him. That just ticked Gregory off.
Pouting, Gregory let himself fall backwards on to the mattress. It was to early to be thinking this much.
"Sure I'll set in on your Flight lesson. I didn't go to any of the lessons back on Pern. The Weyrlingmaster there tried to get me involved, but I was to sulky about them calling Jadavath a defect and preparing to ship her out. I chose to ignore them, and I guess they pitied me 'cause they never did try to force me or coerce me. I left them be. They left me be."
Gregory snorted and rolled on to his side.
"I didn't care. They refused to give Jadavath a chance. Why should I give them one?"

"Ah." L'gar said after Gregory gave his little speech. There wasn't really too much to say to the man, since he was clearly decided, but the brownrider did not want to seem opposed to his choices. "Fair enough. I wouldn't know how to react in your position, honestly. But, no reason to dwell on the past. You're both here now, with those who won't judge you." L'gar said, with a friendly smile. Leaning over to look at the floor, the weyrlingmaster found his pants and proceeded to put them on. Standing up as he tied the waist string, he looked back to Gregory.
"So, what exactly are your injuries there? Are you well enough to come eat in the hall, or can I bring you something?" He asked, bending down again to pick his shirt out of a heap on the floor.

Gregory looked over as L'gar began pulling on his pants, and sat up again. Looking over his side of the bed, Gregory failed to spot his gown. That was fine. Gregory didn't really want to put that thing back on anyhow. His actual pants should be in here somewhere. The nurse had brought them back after washing them.
Gregory swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up. His ankle was wrapped and had not bothered him for a while now. As long as Gregory didn't run on it or anything, it should be fine. The Greenrider also rolled his shoulder to make sure that wouldn't bother him either. It didn't, and Gregory padded over to the bag he thought his clothes might be in.
He didn't really care that he was naked. Several years of community showers and shared barracks left one desensitized to things like nudity. Gregory got the feeling that the Pern riders didn't notice it much either.
Gregory grinned when he found his jeans and easily slipped them on with one hand. His shirt would be problematic, so Gregory decided to forgo it.
Realizing he still hadn't answered L'gar's question, Gregory turned so he could see the other man.
I originally came in with a dislocated shoulder, a sprained ankle, and a broken wrist. The first two are no problem anymore, and my wrist shouldn't prevent me from going to get some food with you."
That said, Gregory bent over and slid his simple cowboy boots on. For once Gregory was glad that he hadn't been wearing BDU trousers and combat boots. He would have never been able to get them on.

L'gar fiddled with his shirt, pulling out the short sleeves from the tangled ball of fabric, and shaking the rest into accordance from there. Pulling it over his head, L'gar looked down to find it was properly wrinkled from spending a night in a heap on the floor. He'd rather not look so disheveled walking into breakfast, but there was nothing to be done about it. Attempting to smooth the fabric with his hands, and failing miserably, L'gar glanced over to Gregory as he dressed. His eyes lingered for a moment, but then found a more appropriate position in wandering about the room. L'gar was not embarrassed by nudity in any way, but he did not want to upset the weyrling with any hint of past arousal.
As his eyes wandered, the rider heard some papers shuffling some distance behind the white partition. The orderly had most likely returned earlier that morning to begin his shift. Stretching absently, his hands clasped above his head, L'gar glanced over to see Gregory skillfully finding his way into a pair of jeans with only one good hand. He seemed alright then.
"I originally came in with a dislocated shoulder, a sprained ankle, and a broken wrist. The first two are no problem anymore, and my wrist shouldn't prevent me from going to get some food with you."
"Ah! Excellent." He said happily, absently watching the man put on his boots. L'gar hadn't had the piece of mind to put on his boots when Zedoreth woke him up in the middle of the night. Luckily, the expertly carved cavern that was Rocky Weyr, was not rocky at all. The floors were nearly smooth enough to slide around on! The Pernese could certainly have used some of the machines the weyrleaders were able to acquire for that.
Collapsing the white partition, L'gar could see that there indeed was an orderly, sitting on a stool in front of a long counter top. The man paused from his paper sorting to look around at L'gar and Gregory, gave a friendly smile, and went back to work. L'gar took a few steps towards the main entrance, then paused to wait for Gregory to catch up beside him. The rider then continued on, out of the infirmary and across the corridor to the dining hall.
"Ooh, I think I smell those, uh.. those.. you put syrup on them. Wafers?" L'gar was mostly babbling to himself as the pair walked into the hall. Even after months and months of Earthian food, he still couldn't remember the specific names. Apparently his memory was only programmed to remember names of people and beasts, not food stuffs.
It was a buffet style set up along both long walls, and a few cook's assistants were manning a couple of the stations. L'gar veered to the right, where the buffet began, and took up two plates; handing one to Gregory. "Let's see now.." He said, walking slowly by the long table of food.
((I assumed Gregory would follow along, hope that's alright. :3))

Gregory wasn't looking up when L'gar removed the partition so he jumped a little at the noise and stood up to hastily follow the older man. The orderly gave a plesant smile that Gregory returned before waving and walking out of the infirmary and into the hall after L'gar. The Brownrider mentioned waffles without actually getting their name right, and Gregory resisted his chuckle but didn't correct him.
After the initial comment, the only noise came from Gregory's boots clicking along the hard rock and the soft padding of L'gar's bare feet. Gregory found the near silence to be creepy. To many Earth movies had scenes exactly like this. It was a ridiculous notion, but Gregory couldn't help but think it. Needless to say, the Greenrider was immesurably relieved to come to the dining area. He was feeling a tad silly and food would help him forget his odd paranoia.
Is there a fear of silence? Because I think I have that.
Taking the plate offered him, Gregory followed L'gar down the table and nabbed some fruit. Gregory didn't like heavy breakfast because they sat in his stomach all morning like a rock. His favorite fruit was orange so there were three or four whole ones rolling around his plate along with honeydew, strawberries, cherries, pineapple, and one lone lemon that he planned on cutting up and putting in his water.
When he was done getting his food and drink Gregory looked around for a table.
