They were by the lake, the far side, furthest from the feeding pens and the rest of the bowl. The shore was neat and smooth but for one section where there were piles of the sand lining the lake were pushed and in heaps, and a large creature lay splayed out in a blissful patch of sunlight.
Halderoth had managed to arrange itself fully on it's back, wings splayed to either side of it's body for maximum sunlight absorption. The blue-green mottled dragon had it's forelegs crossed over it's chest, and it's hindquarters were draped almost comically over it's tail, which was twitching slowly back and forth. It was crooning happily in a noise that sounded much like a purr, and it's eyes were completely closed. A small gold fire lizard was curled in a tiny, shining, metallic ball on Halderoth's stomach, fast asleep.
The picture would have been one of pure peace if it hadn't been for the young man sitting on the shore by the dragon, hunched over rather irritably and poking at his shirt, which was, oddly, not on his back, but spread on a large rock by Halderoth's rear. His long red hair was left loose and was falling in damp curls over his shoulders, and he looked positively unenthusiastic.
"You know, it's freezing." Aaaaand? The dragon didn't bother to even open it's eyes. "AND I'm wet." So am I. The sun is nice. Waaaarm... Halderoth's tone drifted into a sleepy warble.
Tag just heaved an annoyed sigh, and fell on his back in the sand. "You're evil, Hal." You looked like you wanted to swim. "No, you wanted to. I was an innocent bystander of your dragonly frolicking."
Halderoth cracked one eye open, swirling it with amused colors. Ah. That is why you joined me for nearly half an hour?
Tag threw a handful of sand at the dragon, laughing affectionately. "Oh, hush, you big lump." Call me what you wish. I am a happy lump. The peacock-colored creature wriggled it's butt in an effort to get more comfortable, then sighed in sheer bliss. "Alright, alright. As long as you're THAT happy, I can hardly complain." Tag poked at his shirt again, glancing up once at the sky as he willed the sun to dry the damp fabric faster. "But if I get a sunburn, I won't forgive you."

Alright, easy now Odi.. I don't have th.. the strongest of thighs, you knoww.. Odiketh trilled amusedly as he banked a hard right and then dropped, sending Logan's stomach into his throat. The weyrling gripped his dragon's neck for dear life as the little white plummeted down towards the lake. The dragon had promised a pleasant ride to His so Logan opted not to use the riding straps they had so recently acquired, as Odiketh disliked them quite a bit. Unfortunately the young rider failed to process the adjective 'pleasant' in his dragon's terms, and a pleasant flight for the white was fast and full of breakneck acrobatics.
As they soared high over the weyrlake, Odiketh noticed another dragon of a peculiar color.. or colors, more like it. Quickly diving down towards the lake, Odiketh once again sent Logan's stomach into a series of unexpected summersaults and the weyrling did all he could to hold on. Closing in on the sparkling water, disaster struck. A mere fifty feet above the pristine mirror of water, Odiketh's eyes went starkly grey with absolute fear as he spotted Tag. His red hair sent Odiketh into an uncoordinated frenzy of back-winging to try and stop his momentum, successfully throwing Logan off of his back and into the water. Odi pulled off some kind of sidewards flip as he vehemently tried to go in the opposite direction of the redhead. All of this commotion resulted in a large splash, and the continued thrashing of the possessed white did not help in the least.
Surfacing after a few moments underwater, Logan frantically turned to find his beloved dragon flailing about in the water. "ODI! Odiketh stop! It's not.." Logan was hit square in the face by a wing-full of water, abruptly suffocating his plea, as his dragon half swam, half flew through the water to the other end of the lake. Even mental prodding would not help as Logan tried to calm his frantic dragon. Finding his way to shore, Logan wiped the wet off his face and fleetingly glanced at the small group they had undoubtably just disturbed. Turning back towards his still swimming white, Logan called for Odi to come back a last time before slumping to the sandy ground, hiding his face in his hands and groaning.
---
Meanwhile, Uffizi had been slumbering on a random sunny perch in the Weyr proper when he was forcefully awoken by His and theshinyone's terrified emotions. Screeching in defiance, he launched himself immediately off of the high cliff face of the Weyr and blinked between, emerging over Logan.
Shrieking his displeasure, Uffizi scanned the area to find the cause of theshinyone's dismay, his blood red orbs coming to rest on Tag. Another scream at the innocent redhead and the irate bronze betweened once again, reappearing above Odiketh as the white finally clambered out of the opposite side of the lake. He gave a reprimanding trill before perching on the white dragon's head and crooning sweet nothings to calm the beast.
Get away! Minelove.. Loganmine, come here. Please? It is not safe with that over there.. please? The beast pleaded, keening to His from the other side of the water. Logan looked up sorrowfully at the tiny speck of white and sighed.
It's not dangerous over here Odiketh. I'm just fine. You can come over if you want, nothing will hurt you. I promise.. I have to at least apologize anyway. Sighing more dramatically this time, Logan ran his hands through his hair, shaking and squeezing some of the water out. As he looked down, he noticed that his newly-ironed, white button down was now completely transparent and his navy blue trousers were heavy with water as well as covered in sand. "Ekgh.." He snarled in disgust. he was probably covered with all kinds of algae and microorganisms too.. lovely.
Rising from the ground, Logan attempted to brush himself off, only succeeding in spreading the sand that clung to his wet hands. Grimancing, he finally lifted his head and turned sheepishly towards the other weyrling and his dragon kin, who were probably all staring at him. "I'm really sorry.. about that. Uh.. Odiketh is afraid of red. The color." He added, as if they wouldn't understand what they were talking about. "He didn't mean it." Pursing his lips and clasping his hands behind him nervously, Logan shrugged in defeat.

It was NICE here, he decided, spinning in a circle to get a better look at his surroundings. A pleased grin split his face, and he laughed gleefully. Shrugging off his jacket and folding it over one arm, he checked in on Synth. On, my beauty, my love! You would love it here. It's so like home, but ...so not! Oh, it is wonderful. K'ryn sent to his bond mate, as he paced along the side of the lake. He sent her images of the lakeside, the trees, the particular play of light on the water; just about anything he thought she'd like to see.
You sound so happy, K'ryn. You must show me later, when night falls. Synth was curled in an elegant coil in her weyr, head on her forepaws as she followed K'ryn with her mind. Even the tiny bit of noontime light filtering in through the entry bothered her, so she had her head tucked under one wing, and her beloved had carefully put a strip of cloth over her eyes; scarf-like, and easy enough for her to remove at her leisure. She didn't mind terribly, though, about being inside; the trip between had tired her out, so she was content to let her beloved rider explore to his hearts content. She was sure he would be up for a night flight later, when she was rested, and when the light would not cause her so much pain.
But of course, my green star! Any time you wish. K'ryn's smile only grew as he spoke to his dragon, and he left her be as he detected the hints of weariness in her tone. Sleep well, Synth.
It was a pleasant stroll and a short while later that K'ryn's smaller companion popped out of between to circle above his head. Braun chirped lovingly and swooped in to hover in front of K'ryn.
The man smirked deviously, and pretended as if he hadn't seen the little creature. Braun squeaked in confusion, and zipped after him. The tiny white scooted in front of the rider, and lashed his tail, annoyed. Again, K'ryn ignored him. Braun let out a shrill scream of indignity, and grabbed one of K'ryn's braids in one small paw, tugging at it. K'ryn yelped and swatted at the cream-colored creature, laughing at his antics.
Satisfied, Braun scolded His, and landed on K'ryn's outstretched arm, posing like a hunting hawk on the grinning rider's wrist. Puffing out his chest proudly, he deposited the shiny pebble in his paws into the hand he wasn't sitting on. K'ryn 'oooh'ed and 'aah'ed over the stone for an appropriate amount of time, and scratched the elegant white under the chin, and secretly tossed the pebble into the lake when the white flitter wasn't looking.
Then came the enormous splash. Eyes, wide, K'ryn turned towards the lake, a horrified expression on his face. "Shards! What was that rock MADE of?!" He exclaimed, looking stunned. Then he noticed the white weyrling, and the younger male who the white had unceremoniously dunked in the lake. He had managed to loom just in time to catch the white's panicked flight-swim across the lake, and his expression slowly changed from alarm, to confusion. His immediate thoughts were the normal ones- it happened enough that a young dragon didn't quite have the knack for flight right away, and it wasn't uncommon for new weyrlings to lose their seat during those first few flights. But it did result in a significant amount of cracked limbs, and it was a [/i]long[/i] way to fall, even with a water landing...and why had the young dragon panicked so? His thoughts grew alarmed as he remembered the unique situations that set this Weyr apart.
He threw Braun into the air and set off at a jog to where the boy had come out of the water, just then noticing the second young dragon and the redhead nearby. "Heey!" he called, slowing down somewhat as he saw the boy was alright.
"That looked painful. What in the skies happened back there?" He said, sounding just a bit annoyed. Was it arrogant of him to barge in like that? Perhaps. But he was running on assumptions and preconceived notions of rank based on his dragon's color and age versus the two boys and their dragons.
"Damn. Scared the daylights out of me, you did." he sighed, folding his arms over his chest. Then he eyed the jacket that was no longer in his hand, but crawling along the sand, cheeping piteously. "Braun, you dimglow. Get over here."
His attention snapped back to the boys, and to the brown-haired one's comment about the white dragon's fear. His eyes flicked to the redhead, and he smirked slightly. "Are you both alright?"
((God did this get long. K'ryn, why are you being serious all of a sudden, you little flirt?))

Vincent looked up as his dragon, Gaspeth, sucked in a breath and let it out in one of his moments of paranoia. He sent him comforting thoughts and soon Gaspeth calmed down again. He wandered over and butted at his rider. Lets go swimming! Can we? The water looks so beautiful this time of day! Vincent coughed back a laugh. "Sure." he answered. If you didnt know him, you would never see the affection brimming in his eyes. He tended to be quiet and never really talked to other people much. He jumped to the back of his dragon and they took off for the lake. Isnt flying wonderful? I love the way the wind feels flowing over my skin like it does. And sometimes if your lucky you can smell what kind of bird has been through here. And the ground just looks so small! This time Vincent openly smiled at his dragon. Despite the fact that he had a strange paranoia of things that didnt exist, he took great joy in the world around him. Soon they arrived at the lake and Vincent saw that it was already occupied. Why dont we go somewhere else Gasp? But his dragon was already giving a loud happy bugle to announce their arrival and made a beeline for the lake. Vincent's eyes popped open and he started shouting "No Gasp, no!" At the last minute Gaspeth swopped up and landed next to the lake. Vincent stumbled off took a minute to steady himself before taking off Gaspeths flying gear. Gaspeth slid happily into the water while Vincent went to sit under a tree by himself. You really should come in Minelove! The water feels so cool at this time of day! Its wonderful to go swimming then letting the sun warm you! No you giant lizard. Now go for your swim so we can leave. Gaspeth gave a snort of amusement and dove under the water. I see fishes Vincent! I wonder what they taste like? Vincent listened to the idle chatter, silently watching his dragon play in the water. Suddenly his Lady popped out from Between and clawed her way up his shirt. He gave a strangled cry of alarm as she snuggled against his skin. He eyed her and sighed. "Normal firelizards sun themselves. You just crawl up peoples shirts." She gave a little trill of contentment and poked her head out of the top of his shirt to watch Gaspeth play. Gaspeth was still swimming around underwater with his eyes closed when he got a sudden bit of paranoid fright and gasped in fear. He popped out of the water, sputtering and coughing while Vincent jumped to his feet near the edge. Are you ok?! Yeah Minelove. Vincent sighed with relief as Lady crawled out of his shirt to scold Gaspeth. Gaspeth saw the other dragons and his eyes whirled a sheepish green. A minute later though he forgot about his situation and swam over to talk to the white one, his eyes whirling blue.

Tag's only response to anything was to fall on his back in the sand and groan softly. "Goddamn. I think I owe Lee money now. How the HELL could he have predicted- and for forty bucks!- that my having red hair would get me in trouble? Dammit." He muttered mostly to himself.
Haldeoth's reaction was somewhat more reasonable- when the white had started radiating absolute terror, the blue-green dragon had rolled over and leapt to it's feet, snarling and spreading one wing over Tag protectively. (Tiggy shrieked in startlement and scrambled out of the way as she was dumped into the sand.) Tag! Are you alright? That one is fearful- there is danger around?! This had taken place much earlier; Tag had watched the entire scene with a vaguely confused look on his face, slowly growing into a much more puzzled one after the dark-haired rider had come out of the lake and mentioned something about the white dragon being afraid of the color red.
Halderoth relaxed visibly as Tag did, but still stood protectively close to it's bonded. There is no danger? Then why is the pale one so scared? Halderoth blinked in confusion at the little bronze that scolded it and Tag, tilting it's head to one side and growling softly. Tiggy hopped up, scrambled up Halderoth's tail, and winged across the lake after the bronze, shrieking angry protests that the insolent male would dare scold hers and her bigone.
Tag groaned softly and sat up, looking at the soaked whiterider. "No, don't worry. Other than being obscenely bizarre, I say, no harm, no foul." He made a face, and brushed sand off his back. "Though you look rather wet. I'd offer you the shirt I'm currently lacking, only, thanks to SOMEONE-" Tag got to his feet, figuring it was slightly more polite, and raised an eyebrow at Halderoth, "It's wet too. Still. Sorry."
Halderoth made a dignified snort and sat back on the sad, curling it's tail around it's feet like a big cat and not deigning Tag with a response. It stood again almost immediately as a second person came running up, sounding annoyed, and acting like he had some sort of rank on them. Tag was about to say something, but Halderoth silenced him with a quiet note. He is a rider, recently come from Pern. His bonded is a green one, older than I. Do not be smart to him.
Tag shut his mouth, and folded his arms over his chest, and sighed. Oh, what does it say about me when my own dragon had to give me lessons on etiquette? I wasn't going to be rude.
"Um. Yeah. Anyway. I'm alright...I dunno about this guy. Who are you again? I mean, like, a name." He gave the newcomer a onceover; tan, braids, kind of handsome in a charismatic way. Very unlike the rather prim-looking boy (who was also kind of cute, but in...a much more private-school handsome sort of way.) Tag was reprimanded by Halderoth at these considerations, and he tried to focus on what was going on.

((I'm sooo sorry for the wait. I <3 you all. ;o;))
Logan frowned frustratedly as he watched the gold firelizard fly furiously after Uffizi. The blasted bronze was such a nuisance! Weren’t they all supposed to listen to the gold ones anyway? As the other weyrling answered him, the boy was slightly relieved. Despite Odiketh’s complete freak out and Uffizi’s rudeness, the man was not offended. As he apologized about not having a dry shirt to offer, Logan smiled and shook his head slightly.
“Oh no, that’s alright.” He said, just now processing that the other man was indeed shirtless, as he looked him over quickly. He had a similar build to Logan himself, however his face was striking and rather androgynous. He reminded Logan of an exotic European man.. or woman; aside from the fire-red hair of course.
“You shouldn’t be the one apologizing at all.” Logan added, quite sincerely. He would have introduced himself, but he noticed a figure running towards them from around the bend in the lake.
"Heey!"
Waiting just a few moments for the man to reach them Logan cringed inwardly at his initial tone. He sounded mad, but what was Logan to do? He couldn’t help his dragon’s phobia. Granted he should have woken up Uffizi and made him scout around the lake for red offenders, but the arrogant thing was finally asleep. Well, had been, anyway. Now he was most likely being berated by that gold for screaming at her bonded. The idiot.
“I’m Logan.” He answered the blue/greenweyrling first, then turned to the older rider. “I’m alright, yeah. I’m sorry you had to rush over here..” He said, reflexively glancing to the cause of the incident. “He didn’t see him until he was already diving towards the water, and he was just too close to pull up in time.” Logan was a bit nervous that he would get some kind of lashing for not catering to his dragon’s needs efficiently enough, but this man did seem more concerned than angry now. An amused smile graced Logan’s face as his eyes were briefly drawn to the little white flitter’s antics with the rider’s jacket.
Just then a young blue dragon and his rider winged down to the lake and settled themselves along a separate stretch of the lakeside. Logan watched curiously as the blue seemed to play in the water, then began to make his way over to Odiketh’s side of the lake.
---
As the gold flit reached Odi and Uffizi, screeching her anger, the bronze knew he had done wrong. He hadn’t even seen the pretty gold, and if he did he would have thought twice about yelling at Her’s right in front of her. Crawling down onto Odiketh’s snout, Uffizi covered theshinyone’s eyes with his wings, shielding him from the little queen’s furious red gaze. He whined and crooned his apologies, and sent the queen images of red things and his shinyone, insisting that they were bad for the poor white dragon. Surely she would understand.
Odiketh peeked out from under his bronze shield as he heard the sloshing of something swimming towards him. It turned out to be another dragon, not a speck of red on him, and Odiketh crooned a relived greeting. Are you fleeing from it too? Mine is still over there with it, he won’t come to me. Tell Yours to stay away from it too. He pleaded, with a low whine.

K'ryn smiled at the redhead's attitude. He was kind of liking this weyrling.
"Greetings to you both. Please, call me K'ryn. Or don't really. But that's my name." He was once again distracted as his jacket popped out from between and fell across his head, dropped from the claws of a highly amused fire lizard. Yelping, he batted it away- not before managing to fall on his rear in a most spectacular fashion- and glared at Braun, who was sitting sweetly at his feet and offering His a piece of lakeweed.
"...and that nuisance is Braun. Anyone want some...whatever this is?" He inspected the piece of green something-or-other with distaste, and tossed it at Braun. "Why do you do that?" He asked the tiny creture, picking him up and letting the little one tuck himself happily under K'ryn's arm.
"Anyway. Don't worry about a thing. I happen to have seen just a few to many weyrlings get hurt trying things they're not yet prepared for." K'ryn's words were accompanied by a distant thread of amused emotion from his green, who only sent him an image of one particular weyrling-slash-harper who had ended up with a broken collarbone after one such stunt. K'ryn ignored her.
"As long as you are alright." His eyes caught the blue weyrling across the lake, and he shook his head with a smile. Blues amused him greatly, and the little one seemed to be quite the little bundle of energy, if his happy cries and energetic actions were any clue.

Gaspeth climbed out of the lake, shaking the water from his hide. He looked at the white in confusion. Fleeing? From what? He gave a small bugle of amusement and looked over at His. He blinked, then his eyes whirled a bright red as a wave of panic sets in. His mouth opens wide as he gasps in deep breaths and looks around for someplace to hide. It quickly passes though. Gaspeth? Are you ok? Of course. I thought for an instant that the sky might have turned orange. It was rather frightening. Vincent tried not to laugh and instead sent comforting thoughts to his dragon. Im sure you'll grow out of your affliction soon. He comforted him. Gaspeth turned to the white again. So, what is it that Im suppose to have Mine run from again? And isnt the sky just a lovely color?

Tiggy shrilled another few seconds, just to get her point across, but she calmed herself enough to color her eyes a nice neutral color. Huffing slightly, she alighted on the sands and trotted up to the white, patting his foreclaws with one small forepaw, apparently her way of forgiving him.
She sent the bronze calming thoughts, and informed him she was not angry, but to not yell at one of hers again. That done, she proceeded to dust little bits of sand off her hide, then looked at the bronze. The playful and vaguely flirtatious croon she gave him almost demanded attention; attention she was, of course, due, for her regal presence.
She was distracted by the shinyblueone that came up. Jumping up, she squealed at him, and scuttled around in the sand, eyeing him carefully. After a moment, she decided he was a bigone, and went back to the bronze flitter. If she had been human, she would practically have been snapping her fingers at him.
~~~
Tag nodded. "Right. Logan and...K'ryn it is, then. And Braun's the little white one." He said, hoping to anything he might hold sacred he'd remember that. It was highly unlikely. Remembering names he was not good with. The crazy white? Much more likely. Afraid of red... Tag wondered if he had any hats...
Tag! You are being rude. Halderoth bared its teeth at Tag, wary now of displaying any other annoyed emotion in case the white one would see. But it made very clear that it did not approve of Tag's sudden case of apathy in the face of good manners.
Tag just tossed his hands in the air and smiled innocently. "Oh, I'm sorry, you're saying I didn't make introductions?"
That is not-
"I'm...Tag. Don't ask. The peacock here is Halderoth." He squinted across the lake, and got a muted answer of 'okay-ness' from Tiggy.
K'ryn's words made him actually stop for a moment, and he coughed as he remembered some of the incredibly stupid things he'd done before. He was probably lucky, since Halderoth seemed to be a relatively intelligent- if somewhat spacey- creature. Hal wasn't the rash type, and it would never have let Tag do something if it thought it too ill-planned. Damn. Was that a dragon acting as his voice of reason? Well bugger. Liam was going to be out of a job.
Halderoth seemed smug, and it gave a sideways glance to it's rider. I'm sorry, is that the sound of Halderoth-is-right-and-I-need-it that I hear?[/i] Tag scowled at the dragon. Be quiet.
"Anyway...uh." Tag glanced at the older rider, who seemed to have been arguing with his fire lizard. "I think I've got plenty of ...yeah. No thanks." He seemed confused for a moment, but shook it off. "Anyway. Everything going well other than the unpleasantness with the lake earlier?"
((Pardon my mispost here earlier. I think I should be okay now, but my post really doesn't make much sense.))
((Not a problem Red. The post is just fine now. <3))
Logan nodded as K’ryn, as he had just introduced himself, spoke. The whiteweyrling was pleased to hear that he had dealt with other weyrlings who tended to cause trouble, wether they had.. issues, or not. It would certainly come in handy in Rocky, with all the defective dragons on Pern congregating in one mountain. Sometimes Logan even questioned the weyrleaders’ sanity, taking on such a horrendously dangerous task. At least they were Earthian, that should help smooth things over.
Shrugging the thought from his mind, Logan tried to suppress a girlish giggle as the little white flit suddenly dropped K’ryn’s jacket right on his head, along with some unidentifiable lake weeds. Braun, as he was soon introduced, reminded Logan very much of Odiketh; silly and playful, only - one would like to assume - not as intelligent.
“He’s just adorable.” Logan said with clear sincerity. “Odiketh would take him as his own child if he could, I swear.” He added, chuckling softly. “Annoying, maybe.. but be glad you don’t have a narcissistic little bronze demon like my Uffizi.” Logan rolled his eyes and shook his head gently as he glanced behind him towards said firelizard. The statement was half sincere and half jest, just loving enough to still garner the bronze beast’s affection.
Turning to Tag as he gave his name, Logan offered a friendly smile, and nodded to the blue/green Halderoth as, (h.. uh, she.. no, ‘it’ would be more appropriate, Logan finally decided), it was introduced. As to Tag’s question, Logan wasn’t exactly sure who it was directed at, but he figured he’d answer anyway, nodding a casual affirmative.
“Everything is fine with us..” Logan answered, reflexively half-turning to spot his little speck of white across the water. “Odi is growing so quickly, he’s near splitting his hide. Although he shouldn’t get too much larger, being a white and all, right? That would suit m..” before he could finish his last sentence another shriek and a pang of fear reached the group from the other side of the lake.
---
As the gold firelizard calmed, and went over to console his shinyone, Uffizi reeled in his wing-shields and sat placated between Odiketh’s eye ridges. The croon the gold then sent him was elating, making the bronze’s eyes light up with happy blues. Odiketh also gave an appreciative croon to the queen’s kind gesture.
Odiketh regarded the blue’s question with an incredulous look. How could he not have seen it? He was so close to it before. In fact, if he were to look hard enough, he would still be able to see it! ..swishing around over there all meanacingly.
The red. Over there.. you must have seen it. On his head and all over! Just thinking of Tag’s frighteningly colored hair sent chills up the dragon’s spine, making him literally shudder, his eyes turning bright orange. As if to couple the effect, the blue weyrling’s eyes swirled with the same red hue as he panicked strangely. Letting out a pitiful, whining shriek, Odiketh flapped his winds backwards and away from the blue, lifting him up slightly as he turned to run.
Uffizi attempted to hold onto theshinyone’s face but, not wanting to mar it’s glorious shiny surface, he relinquished his grip, popped his wings open and glided safely down to the sand as the white dragon bounded for the nearby tree line.
Vincent stood up, looking over at his dragon while he watched the white one scramble away. Whats wrong with that one? Im not sure. I think he said something about red and it being all over someones head... Vincent coughed, hiding a laugh while his dragon looked around confused. Whats wrong with the color red, Mine heart? I think its kind of like your paranoia Gasp... Gaspeths eyes whirled a pleasing blue. Then he is like me! Possibly Gasp, but I dont quite think its the same thing... but his dear dragon was already heading over to the white again. Its ok! The red thing wont hurt anything! Its ok! Vincent shook his head and looked around for Lady. He spotted her heading over to the other Riders and looked on in horror. Oh please dont Lady... he thought to himself desperately, but to no avail as she flew over to the one he believed to be the white dragons Impressed and tried to claw her way up inside his shirt, seeking his body warmth.
"I'm certainly having an interesting day." K'ryn said cheerfully in response to the green...Blue? Turquoise?... Weyrling's question. "If you don't want the ...stuff, well, that's your loss. Braun, go ...give this to Synth or something." He dismissed the flitter casually, knowing Braun wasn't the type to really take offense, and looked over Halderoth. He couldn't help his curiosity, but really...such a strange pattern. He'd heard rumors about dragons who seemed to be neither gender...(Ruth seemed to be one, and Braun and the scare few other whites he'd had a chance to see,) but he was intrigued by this un-white one.
K'ryn shrugged, half in response to Logan, as Braun crooned happily at the compliment before winging away to deliver his treasure to Synth in her weyr. "Braun's got that effect on people. He was so spoiled at Fort..." He laughed at the memories. "I think he may have even had the Weyrwoman trained to give him tidbits when she was around." He glanced across the lake, squinting at the shape of the much large white on the other shore. "I don't know much about Bronzes. My experience lies with silly whites, and greens." A wicked smile crossed his face. "And blues, but mostly by association and a proddy little green who seems to be overly fond of her blue partners. And the occasional browns, actually."
I beg your pardon? You're just as fond of blueriders as I am of blues. Who was the last one you were so enamored with? J'mal? Synth's amusement was clear, and K'ryn shook his head at her input. Ah...I liked him. Zarganth won me many times. He was a fine blue... K'ryn just smiled and let the green drift off back into her pleased thoughts.
He was going to possibly say more, but the shriek from across the lake caused him to flinch back a step and spin to face the noise. He was somewhat concerned for the white, seeing the little one fleeing from something across the lake. He sighed and tried to get his heart to stop racing. Perhaps he'd have to start getting used to odd noises around here...it seemed that his normal expectations wouldn't do in a place with such...unique occupants.
He was, again, going to say something when a small green fire lizard appeared near the white weyrling, appearing quite interested in the young man. "...well, alright then."
Patra and Mary walked up the path to the lake hand in hand. Maith, Newth and Noth were ahead of them, Noth and Maith playing together like children. at one point Maith had Noth's wing, one in each mouth, and gently pulled the clumsy green to a stop before she could run into her sister, Newth. Newth turned her head around and looked first at Noth with a dirty glare, then at Mary. Why must I admit to being her twin? She is such an embarrassment...
Mary laughed at the tone of Newth's voice. "Love, you must deal with her. She is your sister as much as you don't like it. I have to admit to being Senoskae's sister, don't I?" Mary smiled as Newth turned around and followed behind the frolicking green and blue before her. Then it was Maith who stopped and waited for His to catch up with him.
Why do Newth and Noth fight so often? We get along just fine... Maith was referring to his two heads, both with issues their own.
"Because, minelove, they are twins. Siblings born this close together and having to share something so precious are bound to argue." Patra smiled as she explained.
Noth had bounded ahead, and was now sitting as she bugled back to the rest of their party. There are others here, mineMary. Can we play with the others?[/i]
((Shortpost. Tag sucks at interacting.))
Halderoth matched the gaze of the man with the braids, sitting stiffly with it's back arched like a cat's. It seemed to examine the greenrider with some intensity, then just as quickly make up it's mind and relaxed. This one was no threat, merely curious. Halderoth's attention was once again drawn away from it's argument with it's bonded at the approach of other dragons. It seemed to watch them for a time, deliberating, then returned it's gaze to the skies. How very odd. Halderoth let a few thoughts sink in, contemplating, then glanced back at the young women and their dragons.
One...two greens...one blue. That was three. And...two females. Yes, that math didn't quite add up. Then again, there were two heads on that blue. So, really, how was one supposed to count that? It was hardly fair. Minelove, others approach. Our beach grows crowded.
Tag had been watching the little green lizard ambush the other weyrling, so he'd been a little distracted by that. And he was still a little behind after puzzling out the older rider's odd comment...but he assumed he was simply missing something. Or perhaps that was as blatant a statement as he'd thought. He'd been giving the older man a slightly perplexed, and mostly intrigued look until Halderoth distracted him. "What? Oh. Right." He frowned, and glanced at the dragon. "Yeah, so there's more people. Why?" No reason, I suppose. You do like company.
Tag leveled an annoyed look at Halderoth, and sighed. What is it with you and others? You almost as antisocial as Lee. I have no problem. You're imagining things. If you say so. I do say so. I just have nothing to say to them. It was as true a statement as any. Halderoth had been paying only half a mind to the conversation before, except to chime in for Tag's benefit. Tag was somewhat irked by this sudden distancing.
Tag glanced at K'ryn again, and raised a hand, almost like a student asking a teacher. "If you have experience with blues and greens, maybe you can figure out why Hal is such a basket case." He glanced at Logan and smiled sheepishly. "Hell, maybe you have some idea? Can dragons just be...you know...?" He made a weird motion with his hands, and Halderoth directed and arch look at him. What was that supposed to mean...? Halderoth said, though he hardly seemed to care. If Tag wished to socialize, then the chances of them being able to leave were slim. Halderoth didn't mind other riders, but it certainly didn't get on well with other dragons.
Tag, again, ignored the remark. "Don't worry your pretty little head about it, peacock. Go say hi, or something." He glanced at the two young women, and tugged on his still slightly-damp and rather sandy t-shirt. "It appears there are more guests."
((I am soooo sorry about this. :c Almost two weeks.. -hangs head in shame-))
Everything okay my love? It couldn’t have been the hair again, right..? Logan queried over the lake to his dragon hidden amongst the trees.
Oh, uh.. no it wasn’t that. The white replied, calming. Odi heard the blue’s reassurances and timidly peeked his head out from behind the terribly-too-small sapling he was using as a shield. Delighted that the red had vanished from the other male’s eyes, Odiketh crooned apologetically.
The blue here was angry with something, but all is well. He assures me that there will be no more of that stuff over here. He his very nice. Is His over there with you?
Logan was wary of the situation. He couldn’t fathom why the blue would freak out in such a way, but as long as he was calm again.. Odiketh wouldn’t be stupid enough to bother the dragon into actually attacking him, right? As he pondered the question for a few moments, a soft fluttering could be heard nearby. Logan paid it no mind until he felt a small body on his, little talons gripping his still wet shirt, trying to burrow inside of it.
“Ohh! Ow..nononn..ow! What in god’s name or you trying to do to me?” Logan flailed around a bit, trying to get a good look at his attacker who was determinedly clambering up the backside of his right hip, halfway under his shirt. The little head and forearms tickled Logan’s side, and he giggled rather reluctantly. “No, yo.. you can’t go u-ooh-p there..”
Mine? Why don’t you answer me? What is that distressing you? The white asked concernedly as he sat on the beach with the blue, in plain sight now.
Logan sent a quick, half-formed image of his predicament to Odi, making the white snort. You see Mine, I am not the only one to attract the little flyers! Aren’t they marvelous? He said wistfully, now turning back to the blue.
---
I thank you blue one, I’m am calmed now. Oh, my name is Odiketh! What may I call you? The white asked joyfully.
Meanwhile, Uffizi, now on the ground, sauntered right over to the shiny gold that shared the sands with him and crooned a more formal - and likely more seductive - hello.
((This is a slow thread. XD I am so blah-posting right now.))
K'ryn regarded the red-haired weyrling for a moment, then looked at his dragon. "Well, dragons are as individual as any human. And I certainly can say from experience that they're pretty much unpredictable. Synth manages to baffle me three or four times a day, and that's just before breakfast." He shrugged. "I'd say they're just...inneffable."
He was rather puzzled by yet another set of weyrlings coming by, and he was about to call out to them in greeting when Loagn fell over. "..." he said, watching and trying not to laugh. "Ahem. Do you need...-snrk- some assitance, perhaps?"
Vincent mentally smacked himself on the forehead and called out to his Gaspeth.
Gasp, come here. I need you to take me to the other side of the lake so I can fetch Lady.
But Gaspeth was too busy talking with the white to notice. Its nice to meet you Odi! My name is Gaspeth, but Mine calls me Gasp. Why are you so frightened of the red thing?
Vincent rolled his eyes as he listened to his dragon chatter on and sent Lady silent scoldings as he made his way around the lake the slow way.
Meanwhile Lady finally succeeding in clawing her way up Logans shirt only to find out that the water wasnt helping her heat up. She climbed out the top of his shirt and flew in the air, trilling out a scolding before diving over to the other rider.
Gaspeth!
Vincent called to his dragon, the urgency in his voice finally pulling his dragon away. Gaspeth quickly flew over and landed next to him, giving him just enough time to climb on before setting him down near the other riders. With an amused bugle, he took off again, making his way back to the white dragon.
Vincent warily made his way over to the other riders, mentally calling for his Lady who continued to ignore him.
"Ineffable, huh? No idea what you mean by that, but I'll guess it's something like Halderoth isn't as much of a feak as I'd thought." I beg your pardon? The multihued dragon snorted at it's human indignantly and flopped over onto it's side to enjoy the warmth of the sand once more. It looked like they weren't going anywhere any time soon.
Tag had somehow missed the sudden appearance of the bluerider, so when he turned around he nearly jumped out of his skin. (The silly little green flit under Logan's shirt had been distracting him. And- wait. Where had it gone to? Tag was suspicious. And oblivious, apparently.)
"Who the hell are you?" Tag managed, mentally smacking himself for the less than polite greeting. "I mean. Um. Hi there." A slight trill of draconic laughter came from the coil of wing and legs that was Halderoth. Not that it was being mean; it just found it's bonded's sudden loss for words a fitting comeuppance for his teasing earlier.
((Waffles; Logan didn't actually fall over. x3 But I'm going to run with it since it's been so long since I've posted here anyway, I'm not about to make you edit your post. >>))
As if his less than graceful fall to the ground wasn't embarrassing enough, the little green menace that had been so determined to skin him had mysteriously disappeared, leaving a pathetically spooked Logan sitting in the sand. Then, as if to spite him further, the apparent owner of said menace landed on dragonback nearby. Yet another spectator to oggle at the skiddish manboy.
"Ahem. Do you need...-snrk- some assitance, perhaps?"
Whether he was actually trying to be helpful or just embarrass the whiteweyrling further, K'ryn was doing very much of the latter, as Logan visibly wilted at the question. Blasted pests those lizards were!
"No, no. I'm fine.." Logan replied quietly as he got up, swatting the sand off of his clothing for the second time that hour. He also made a point to check the area where the tiny green monster had been climbing, finding some nice, red scratches and little, shallow punctures. Logan let out a soft noise of disappointment and turned to the others just in time to see the blue take off again. He looked cautiously around for the green, but could not spot her, which did not make him feel better in the least.
Tag's rude and rather hilarious greeting, however, made Logan snort in an attempt to hide his laugh, removing him from the sour funk his previous embarrassment had put him in. Hearing Halderoth's trill made Logan feel more at ease, and he smiled as his chest still spasmed with his silent laughter, watching to see how the blueweyrling would react.
--
Meanwhile, on the opposite shore of the lake, Odi was contentedly listening to his new blue friend.
Oh. Do not you know? It is very bad. You should not go anywhere near it if you can help it. It is hard whe- And just then, Gaspeth was called away apparently, and launched into the air to transport His. Odi waited patiently for his return, and when he did, the white continued as if nothing had happened.
So.. it is hard when I have to eat, but Mine makes sure I close my eyes. It is quite difficult. He said, rumbling rather sadly.
(( Derp. Oops. ))
"As long as there's no permanent damage, then..." K'ryn bit his tonge as he saw the white weyrling's expression. Shards, that had not been nice of him, teasing the boy. Then again, tact had hardly ever been his forte.
So he settled for shutting up and just sort of waving at the new-arrived bluerider (who he HAD seen coming.) But he had to admit, Tag's ...greeting...had been more than a little amusing, and K'ryn just shook his head and sighed.
