Character Profile
Name: D’mei (Formerly Dameian)
Age: 17, born April 1, 1994
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual, male preference
Rank: Bluerider
Weyr: Rocky
Appearance: Of a fairly average height with rich, brown eyes and a rather masculine face for his young age. When he wants something, he has a tendency to pout. That pout rarely fails him.
Picture:
Base Personality: D’mei is rather crazy, almost bouncing off the walls ninety percent of the time. Despite his hyperactivity, he is rather sweet. Under his sweet demeanor, he hides a twisted side, in which is another excuse for his dissociation with the general population, Rometh‘s timidness. However, his twisted side rarely shows itself, but when it does, it is more of a masochistic tendency than a sadistic one.
History: Dameian had a rather rough childhood. He was born to a small caravan group, comprised of only his parents, aunt, uncle, and three cousins. Until his seventh Turn, everything was fine, but after he turned seven, it all went downhill. His father turned more to his wine than to his wife to help him solve his problems, and the small group of wanderers started to fall apart.
As the caravan suffered, Dameian’s father’s temper, influenced by the wine, often soured on the small child. However, despite the beatings that increased in frequency, it failed to perturb the child. This would be the first inklings of his later masochistic tendencies. Dameian refused to run away, however, because of his undying loyalty to his mother.
Dameian never told his mother about the abuse, but as an astute woman, she knew. She knew her husband had turned to his drink to get away from the problems now troubling the small group, and she knew that he was hitting their young son. But she also knew that there wasn’t anything she could do to stop it, and she saw that there was little change in Dameian’s personality. She didn’t like that Romeiran was abusing Dameian, but there was little Damella felt she could do.
As Dameian’s father spent more and more of their finances on his wine, Dameian’s mother started to become sickly, giving her portions to her growing son. By the time Dameian was twelve, they were no longer able to travel because of her increasing frailty. Dameian was the only one to take care of her, though her brother, his wife and their daughters, the former members of the caravan, would come to visit and give her their best regards.
Despite everyone’s sincerest hopes and Dameian’s constant nursing, his mother only continued to get worse. Eventually, one day she passed away, breaking Dameian, who was only thirteen. Having no reason to stay with his drunkard of a father, he took the family runner after burying his mother, and left. However, he forgot to bring supplies as well, and when he showed up at High Reaches Weyr, he was half-starved and falling off of his mount. It took the Weyr a couple weeks to nurse him back to health, and then he volunteered his services around the Weyr in return. He largely helped in the kitchen, having a natural talent for cooking, but he never felt fully satisfied.
One day, now fifteen, he went to the Weyrleader and asked if he could Stand at the upcoming Hatching. After some deliberation, he was granted permission to ask the Queen, and she in turn allowed him to Stand. When the time came, he hurried onto the Sands, the heat barely bothering his feet. As the eggs began to reveal the hatchlings within, Dameian watched as the candidates around him Impressed Bronzes and Browns. The first Blue to hatch was the only one that truly caught Dameian's attention, as the Blue was one of the more exotic looking dragons he had seen. The dragon's main hide was a purply-blue with sky blue blotches and a red wine belly. His wings were a darker purple than his body, and he had light purple stockings with even paler tail rings.
The Blue seemed hesitant to leave his shattered egg, and only fled because his golden mother snorted down at him. He gave a short squeal, scrambling backwards and bumping into an egg, causing it to roll into another egg, causing them both to crack open and spill the stirring dragons inside them with startled shrieks. The little Blue backed away from his stunned siblings, hunched into the Sands. He then bumped into a confused Dameian and, while keeping his head down, the little Blue looked at the boy he had almost knocked over. 'Mine! Rometh is sorry! I did not mean to bump you! Did I hurt Mine? I am sorry!'
Not quite understanding what was happening, Dameian grabbed the panicking Blue's head, staring into the whirling eyes, seeing only the yellow. He missed the rainbow, trying to calm the struggling beast. "Rometh, I'm fine! Calm down, you didn't hurt me, and you only startled your clutchmates! Be calm, you great beast!"
Once Rometh was calm, it sunk into Dameian's mind what just happened. "Wait...you're Mine?"
'No, you're Mine, D'mei. And Your Rometh does not like this hungry feeling. Is there anything you can do to fix it?' With a laugh, D'mei nodded and led the hungry dragonet off of the Sands to feed him.
Training was normal, but once Thread started flying, Rometh began to act more distant than usual. Especially once they were allowed to help fight Thread. While fighting a particularly Threadfall over Benden Hold, Rometh went between to rid himself of Thread, but when he came out from between, it wasn't over Benden. Somehow, without solid coordinates, Rometh had jumped from Benden to Southern Boll. Realizing they were clearly not in the right place, D'mei had Rometh go back, but their mistake did not go unscolded.
Removed from fighting for the next Threadfall, the odd occurance didn't happen again, but when they went to jump between for their next encounter of Thread, they didn't come out with the rest of the wing. This time, Rometh had jumped to somewhere in the Southern continent, and while all they managed to do was scare some wherries, D'mei knew there would be trouble when they went back. And while he was tempted to stay, there was no protection for not only himself, but Rometh. Though the Blue beast didn't need as much protection from the elements...
This time, instead of just being removed from active duty, it was discussed they be sent away. After some heavy consideration, the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman decided it'd be better to send the Blue somewhere where he wouldn't need to between for any reason. He was to be sent to Rocky on Earth. And a Brown pair would make sure he made it. But D'mei doesn't see the relocation as a demotion, but rather as a new adventure.
After being at Rocky for a while, he Impressed brown firelizard Bry on December 4, 2011.
Dragon Profile
Name: Rometh
Color: Blue
Color Code: 6322cf
Impressed on: March 3, 2009
Age: 2 1/2 years
Physical Description: On the small side of a blue, Rometh only reaches twenty feet long. He has patches of blue (1989e7) along his body, pale purple tail rings (b6b6e0), stockings (a385f9), a wine colored belly (931aa4), and dark purple wing membranes (52437d).
Dragon Defect/Injury: Unable to go between and come out where he's supposed to on his own. His mind creates random coordinates and he's just lucky enough that they aren't in the middle of an ocean or a mountain. To go where he needs to, he must have a second pair jump with him and forcefully hold the coordinates for him.
Base Personality: Rometh is almost as crazy as his rider when he doesn't feel the need to be as timid as he normally is. However, Rometh is actually somewhat cowardly, and is a bit reclusive. He hates confrontation, and will try to hide once it escalates. Due to his meekness, he has a tendency of apologizing when something happens or he feels the events going on are somehow his fault.
