History:
Born in the Ukraine, Katerina was the last addition to a large wealthy family. With three brothers, three sisters and parents often away for business matters, she had to learn to hold her own quick. No sibling of hers would boss HER around.
She may have been the youngest but she had the most spirit which, naturally, put her at odds with school, siblings, maids, and any source of supposed authority. Over the years though, she learned how to listen somewhat and made it through life with minimal difficulties.
Eventually she got tired of being stuck in old Ukraine and left for America. Knowing English from school and smatterings of it at home, she went to live with distant family in the Rockies. Discontent with moving from one rural area to another, she spent most of her days sulking in the woods.
One day, She saw a strange and large creature flying over head. She followed it until it rounded a peak and disappeared. Tired, lost, and annoyed that she lost the curious entity, Katerina wandered back home. But at the prospect of finding out what that thing might have been and where it had gone intrigued her. She knew that she wouldn't be able to rest until her curiosity was appeased. So she went out again to search for it. Hours later she found herself stuck on a rock shelf thirty feet from the ground with no way to get down. She shouted for help, knowing that her efforts were in vain. Nobody lived out here and nobody would find her.
Luckily a kindly dragon and rider heard her cries and came to her rescue. They brought her to the weyr infirmary to make sure she was ok, and explained to her where she was and the purpose of Rocky Weyr. At first she scoffed, but then, with such hard evidence to support the Man's claims (there WAS a dragon right THERE, after all) she finally asked if she could be a part of it too.
Deciding that the life she could start here in America wasn't anything like what she had hoped, she chose to go to Isle Weyr where maybe she could have a little more exotic excitement in her life.
