((Faizah has given me permission for this, and Wolfy has agreed as well. And yes, this starts at Isle, but there's a reason I'm posting here. You'll see. :3))
The sun had only just risen when the first of the pains began. Instinctually, green Dulchanth knew what they meant, and took wing to the Sands. HerA'jax was asleep, and she still felt bad for the times she had snapped at him while she was waiting for her time to Rise.
However, as Dulchanth went to land, she was quickly berated by the resting golden Xenith, and knew she would have no place on Isle's Sands to clutch her eggs. Anxiety flooded her mind as she took to the sky again. If she could not clutch on Isle's Sands, where could she safely guard her children?
Perhaps she could ask Faith for permission to travel to Rocky to clutch her eggs?
The idea was tempting.
She landed in the Weyrbowl, pacing to alleviate the pain. The pale green tentatively reached out for Faith for permission. Faith, I come to you with a desperate request. I need a place to lay my eggs, but Xenith will not let me land. May I clutch on Rocky Sands so as to not inconvenience anyone?
Dulchanth was slightly surprised when she felt a gentle hand on her forelimb. She looked down to see A'jax looking up at her. "Why didn't you wake me, dear?"
I did not want to wake you when you slept so soundly.
He laughed slightly. "Love, I could sleep at other times. But you know I want to be here when you need me," he said.

Faith, lazy as she was after her flight not so long ago, transferred the request straight to Gorth at Rocky. The bronze let Kain know, and Kain hurried to ask Faizah. A dragon denying their instinct to clutch was in a bad predicament. And he only wished he could help.
After explaining what was going on, Faizah agreed with Kain. It wouldn't be a problem for the green to clutch at Rocky, where she could protect her eggs until they hatched. But Faizah made it very clear that it was only to be while the eggs hardened...
You may clutch at Rocky, Dulchanth. Gorth relayed straight to the green.
Faizah and Kain were waiting on the sands. Green/Gold Isath was in the central, guarding the eggs of the deceased gold. But there was still plenty of room for the green to clutch. The Sands at Rocky were much larger than at Isle. They had been designed to have multiple clutches laid in them, with plenty of room between the mother dragons so that they wouldn't fight.
Surth and Gorth kept a diligent search of the skies going as they waited for green Dulchanth to come out from between.

Thank you, Gorth. Dulchanth replied, gratitude washing through her pained body. A'jax seemed to know they were about to fly, and was already vaulting onto her back when she spread her wings. Taking to the air once again, they shared the coordinates, then went between.
Coming out in the air above the Sands, the pale green circled for a moment before descending into the Sands. She carefully held her wings so they wouldn't brush the edges of the hole that stood well above the preferred clutching place of the dragons. Keeping well clear of where green-gold Isath was resting around eggs that were hers-not-hers, she alighted in the back.
With her missing forelimb, though, landing always proved to be an awkward business. It wasn't as bad now that the injury was healed, she could just lean and brace herself on the stump. But when the Threadscore was still fresh, she preferred not to take to the air. It was too painful and awkward for her to deal with then.
A'jax quickly dismounted, stepping back to give his green as much room as she needed. He watched with worried eyes, mind running over dates. It was too soon for her to clutch...she shouldn't be clutching for another month at least. But she was clutching now, and she needed him. That's all that mattered for now.
More pains assailed Dulchanth's body, and she knew her eggs were coming soon, but she wanted the father of her children to be present. She reached out, calling to Kyrinth, Kyrinth! I am about to clutch. Come see our children!

Faizah and Kain watched from a respectable distance. Faizah was aware of the underlying anxiety coming from both rider and dragon, and she was a little curious. But she didn't dare approach. She knew how broody dragons could be when clutching...

Without much of a preamble, a blind Brown shot into the air rather suddenly, immediately forgetting that he was only half covered in suds and oil. With an oath, his Rider stumbled backward, soaked even more than before. He offered no true reason other than a half sent thought of a picture. His bright and dark picture and feeling of the Sands.
Scowling ferociously, Lyrah waded to the shore. She knew what was happening, but it seemed just a little too soon. And couldn't the sharded Brown wait for her? He was lucky he knew the Weyras well as he did, or he would be flying into a wall! Oh, yes, I'll be there soon! she called after him sarcastically. I just have to get out ofmy bath, you understand.
Dulchanth! he cried, landing clumsilly on the hot piles of sand. Where...? he asked swinging his head back and forth struggling to see even a glimmer of her hide in his distorted vision.
He wanted very much to be there for her. He wanted to see their childreb, even if it would be through the eyes of mostly others. It was very important to him.
"Over here, my dear!" Lyrah called as she appeared to the right and behind A'jax. With a flick of her finger, Kaena flew to wa ard him, sending him sights of the Sands and helping to get him away from the Double-Gold Clutch, where he had landed, and toward Dulchanth.
"Hey, A'jax," she said turning to the worried looking Greenrider. She knew what was wrong and was thinking about it herself. It was too early for her to be Clutching.

I am here, Dulchanth crooned at Kyrinth, then hissed and reared up, feeling the need to clutch even stronger than before. Soon a dull thump against the sand announced the arrival of the first of their children, and Dulchanth crooned, Look, Kyrinth, the first of our children. Then she gently nudged sand over the soft, pale shell. It was a little small, but that didn't matter to her. It could very well only mean that the dragon maturing inside was small.
A'jax belatedly responded to Lyrah, glancing over once the first of Dulchanth's eggs was on the Sands. "Oh, hey Lyrah. I'm...worried...about Dulchanth and the eggs. She shouldn't be clutching for at least another month, more like six weeks."
((Sorry it's blah, my muse hates me right now. x.x))

The Brown very nearly tripped on himself in his haste to get to her. I'm coming....I'm coming! he grunted as he steadied himself and rushed even faster toward the Green. He slid to a stop, nearly bumping into Dulchanth. He turned his head to peer at the small egg through the one semi-useful eye he had.
Swelling up like a prideful peacock showing off his feathers, he could have grinned. And so it was completely and utterly official! He was a true and complete dragon!
Lyrah placed a calloused hand on A'jax's shoulder. "Don't be. If something was wrong, we would have a panicing Brown on our hands," she said, motioning toward the strutting Kyrinth. "No seriously. I have absolutely no doubt that they with be fine, healthy dragonets when they hatch." She left out her suspicion that they may well be defective, being Clutched so early.
((No problem. I have the same problem Stormy!))

A'jax watched as Dulchanth settled to lay another egg. "I...suppose you're right. Maybe I'm just worrying over nothing," he relented.
It wasn't too much later in the day before Dulchanth was done clutching, curling protectively around her clutch of seven small eggs. Our children, she practically purred, looking at the unmarred shells with pleased eyes.
((Bah. I hate my muse these days...>.<))

Lyrah smiled at the young man. He was a nice guy, with a kind heart the equal of any. And a Green that Kyrinth was almost literally head-over-heels in love with. She looked back at the small egg. Would any of them be Whites? she wondered. Maybe, maybe not. Frankly, she doubted it. She had only ever heard of Whites hatching from Gold clutches.
Kyrinth wrapped one long, delicate wing over Dulchanth, watching the unmoving eggs through at least three eyes (Kaena, Snowfire, and Dulchanth). They were perfect. They were just right. They were theirs, and theirs alone. And he said as much to her.
((OMG MY LYRAH/KYRINTH MUSE HATES ME!!!!!))
