mName: F'tem
Age: 39 (born in summer of 1973)
Gender: male
Sexual Orientation: heterosexual
Rank: Rider
Weyr: Isle Weyr
Appearance: About 5 foot 7 inches tall, he has olive skin, short cropped black hair and extremely dark brown eyes underneath thick brows. Well built, he has a dangerous and impatient look about him.
Picture:
Base Personality: moody, impatient, stubborn, bad-tempered, sweet on children when no one else is looking
History:
F'tem was born as Fentemp, a child in one of the many trading trains that littered the northern continent on Pern. The oldest of a large family, he was often given higher, more harsh expectations that the other children. Being the son of the leader of the train only added to the strain.
His father was a skilled Smith that had, unfortunately, sustained an injury that impaired movement in one of his arms, therefore putting him out of business. His mother, however, was a stern, business-oriented woman that was a trader in her own right. She led the train and was seen as often as the men when it came to fighting off beasts or brigands. She raised her childrem, daughters and sons both, to do the same.
Fentemp, by the time he was eleven, was overseeing the loading and unloading of all cargo, be they tradable or supplies for the train. Already he was strong-willed and tough, especially around any adult. Unfortunately, it became apparent to two men, toughs themselves, that the boy was cheating them (or so they thought). He was in fact giving them bigger bags of flour than they thought, so there was less bags for them to carry; they thought he was giving them less bags, and so less pounds, of flour than they had bargained for. Angry, they attacked him.
He woke up nearly a month later in the Igen Weyr.
It so happenned that a group of Weyrlings were practicing nearby, and heard the yelling in the train. They, along with their instructor, arrived in time to see the two men run off, leaving the greatly bloodied boy behind in the care of screaming children and panicing adults. The Rider immediately took charge and ferried the boy off to the Weyr, where he was immediately set upon by healers. He had a severe concussion, several broken bones, a close to crushed wrist, and internal bleeding.
The Healers managed to stabalize him, and eventually he was able to move around. His scars began to fade quickly, until there was very little sign that he had ever really had them. The only true symptom of his memory of the attack was his deep mistruat of any strangers, and the eventual hatred of the two men, who would resurface years later.
Deemed unfit for travel with the train by his mother, he stayed at the Weyr, even stood at the Hatchings when he was old enough. He became known as one that always had a door open for those younger, while he slammed it in any others' face. It wasn't until he was 14 years old, maybe, that he Impressed Kenteth.
His years as a Weyrling were unsurprising and plain in any way imaginable. He was a student without anything to make him standout other than his dragon, who became an expert early on in settling disputes between dragons and riders both. When they graduated, they kept their different reputations. If anything, they intensified.
As time went on, the pair was assigned to Search wings, usually in a company mostly made up of two particular Greens: Craemicth and Sarinth. They two were notorious for getting into fight os some sort, and even their riders, H'tor and J'fen, had some sort of vendetta.
Unfortunately, both Greens rose at the same time.
As can be said of any feuding female couple Rising for flights, they fought. Though Sarith was not believed to be near her time, they began to tear at each other. Kenteth, as well as a few other blues and Browns, jumped in to seperate the two dragons.
Kenteth was the only one injured when it was all over. During the fight, Craemicth had latched onto his wing in an attempt to get him out of her way. She had shredded the delicate membrane, completely removing it in places. Falling, Golds managed to catch himand set him gently on the ground.
It became apparent, soon after, that it was probable that the Blue's wing would never heal completely. In order to give him as much of a chance as possible, the Weyrleader ordered that he be sent to Earth, where their advanced medicinal knowledge might be enough. A Bronze carried him to Isle soon after.
Upon arriving at Isle Weyr, he immediately became involved of the politics surrounding the Weyr's tense command situation. Aurora, the Weyrwoman, was in a hard labor, and the father was no where to be found. the Weyrleader had a son already, with the the Junior Weyrwoman, and that one did, in no way, love Aurora. It was a situation that left the newborn in need of a caretaker; Aurora would be unable to care for the babe for months to come. Upon hearing this, F'tem immediately stepped forward to volunteer.
The Bluerider held no fear of Faith or her Rider, and took Zever under his wing.
