Character Profile
Name: L'iyr (Laeiyrin)
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Closeted Bisexual
Rank: Weyrling
Weyr: Rocky
Appearance: L'iyr does not go unnoticed, but in A'gar's presence, he almost always feels overshadowed by the loud, boisterous blonde. L'iyr is slender and tall, pale skin and dark hair, with constantly shifting eyes and a tendency to hold so still he almost appears to not be breathing. He always moves very deliberately, never hesitating or wavering, as if he were more machine than human. He's delicate, however, in his motions, and rarely wastes an effort to do something unless truly enraged beyond reasoning. (A'gar thinks' he's creepy and wishes he'd just smile once in a while and stop skulking.
Funnily, L'iyr is not short, simply seems so by the way he stands and moves. He stands only two inches below A'gar, six-foot-two with a long build like some great cat. His shoulders are slender and his waist thin, and almost too bony for his own good. He has very prominent hips, collarbone, spine, and hands with long, slender fingers seeming more suited to a piano or pen than a dragon's hide. He's quite fond of long elegant clothing, the sort of things a Holder would know of but a Dragonrider might dismiss as 'too flashy'. (Such as A'gar, who finds L'iyr's clothing extravagant and fairly ridiculous.) He likes long things, high collars, long sleeves, and gloves. As of arrival on Earth, he's found he's quite fond of scarves as well.
His hair is solid black, falling just below his shoulders and pushed back from his face, rarely tied up and rarely bothered with. Pushing it out of the way is an afterthought, and it falls in loose waves down his back. This is a stark contrast to his pale skin, product of turns as a scholar, and unmarked by scars or too much wear and tear. His eyes are an unnaturally pale blue, the color of ice and a stormy sky, with a hint of grey. The flash dark when he's emotional, and are constantly moving, always watching something.
He's slender and pale, all sharp edges and broken glass hidden under silk. When he speaks it's quiet, but his low, charming voice is one you are almost compelled to listen to even if it's to catch a mere whisper. He doesn't let his expressions show often unless pushed far beyond the limits of his patience, (unless the emotion is boredom or irritation) and carefully regulates his every movement. But behind the bored sneer his mind is rushing a million miles an hour, and it's all he can do to keep up sometimes.
To sum up, L'iyr is actually quite attractive, but often so hidden and masked that it's hard to approach him.
Picture: PB: Tom Hiddleston
Base Personality: He'd say he's clever, smart, quick, a fast learner and an intuitive creature. Those he's slighted would call him a liar and a cheat, silver-tongued and black at heart. He'd have to agree to that as well. He's desperate, confused, fearful of the unknown, he over thinks things, he's self-destructive and does things out of spite, and hates, hates being forced into doing things.
L'iyr tends to unnerve people. He doesn't move, he tends to lurk, he doesn't talk much unless spoken to first, and he carries an air about him that tends to say he definitely thinks he's smarter than you are. He'd be perfectly happy if the world left him alone. (A'gar seems determined to shake him of this, despite his MANY protests.) He does;t understand people, except objectively, and he had few friends as a child- he was a bright lad, and often found them boring, or too excited by beating eachother up to suit him. He adores reading and studying, reveling in the tales told by Harpers over trekking through the woods.
He's incredibly arrogant, and not afraid to brag about it. (Kind of like his bondmate...) He takes pride in his intelligence, and loves nothing more than to be able to entirely out-argue someone with just a word. Though he's also pretty verbose and if given the opportunity will talk at length if he feels you will pay attention and understand. That intelligence leads to a man who can talk his way out of almost any trouble, though admittedly, it's usually trouble he got himself into. (Or trouble he's gotten A'gar into.)
He does't rise to dares, and finds A'gar illogical and imbecilic. But he will not tolerate slights against Einherjath, and will exact revenge on those he feels has hurt him- or, though he won't admit, A'gar. To be sure, he never forgets, and unlike A'gar's easygoing forgiveness and willingness to forget, L'iyr is not adverse to doing what needs to be done. Even if it is ...distasteful, To protect those he cares about OR- his freedom. he's deeply afraid of captivity.
And yes, vengeance- a child with too much time and a mind like L'iyr is a combination leading to trouble. He loves to stir up trouble just to watch what happens, though it backfires as often as not. He's never quite apologetic about it, but he manages to make amends enough to keep too terrible a grudge from being held against him. But he keeps careful tabs on those he HAS hurt, as well as any he might not fully trust- he's deeply mistrustful of others, and assumes people are out to cause pain rather than good. He's a bit of a pessimist.
He's logical and methodical, and takes life on as more a great chess game than anything. He always perceives himself as game master though, and has a fatal flaw of forgetting his own vulnerability. He's also more self-sacrificing than he'd admit, and more likely than not to do something stupid to protect those he cares about under some cleverly-crafted excuse of doing something to meet his own goals. In the end, he's incredibly loyal if annoyingly sassy, and when you finally break all the walls around him, you'll not find a better person to have at your side.

History:
Father: Lord Laerol of Ruatha
Mother: Lady Liyriath
Elder Brother: Leril
Younger Brother: Erroll
Laeiyrin is the second son of the Lord Holder of Ruatha. Always treating his sons with equal respect and care, it was not a bad childhood. merely uneventful. Laeiyrin was not far apart from his brothers, and they were fast friends and comrades even young. They used to be made fun of for their closeness in looks, called 'three little cats' when they were small for their tendency to creep around and spring out at people like kittens.
Laeiyrin was never unhappy, not as a child, but as he grew, it was quickly clear he was suited to learning, reading far earlier then either of his brothers. He was often found, in the next few turns, sequestered in with the Hold's Harpers pestering them to tell him more tales. His father never scolded him for this- far from it. he encouraged it, hoping that since his eldest would be his heir, perhaps his middle son could make a good adviser or Minorholder if need be. Laeiyrin was fine with this- he liked the idea.
But as he grew he continued to be quiet and silent and shifty while his brothers were growing out- Errol, the youngest, was well-liked and sweet with many of the ladies even if he was a little slow, and Leril was charming and confident and well-suited to a position in command, with his easy rapport with others.
Other children in their age group began to tease Lir, (a childhood nickname) and taunt him for being so shy and quiet. Over the turns, his attempts to ignore them took a sharper turn, and he began to devise elaborate schemes to avoid them, and then, as they grew into the rather vindictive teenage years children are capable of, he got more spiteful. Moggy found herself with her hair cut off at night in revenge for a remark about Lir's own long hair and 'feminine' appearance, and Gruldark had all his clothing dyed a fascinating shade of yellow when he made the mistake of insulting Errol one day. And one time, Farden and Volgsa found themselves assaulted physically by an enraged Laeiyrin when they went too far and actually hurt his elder brother- some things Lir would not stand for.
People took notice too, and began to learn that while Laeiyrin was not outwardly violent or dangerous in many rights, but they DID learn that he was clever and good at making things look like accidents. He never hurt anyone, but he was not quite as careful as people could not connect him to his little acts of rebellion.
Truthfully, he was getting bored. He did not hate his life, but the thought of sitting around the Hold forever helping Lerin and watching after Erroll while his brothers bu,bled along irked him. He wanted to find something to do that was worth something- but his father would not let him seek out the Harpers, or do anything as 'dangerous' as leave the hold or (one rather interesting fascination) become a wher handler like he asked. (He DID like whers. They were clever and useful and their whole life was something new and different to the holder boy.)
So he was resigned to a life of bored happiness, not stupid enough to complain but deeply discontented.
And then came the day he convinced his father to let him and Erroll go to benden's hatching- they were planning to attend the Gather anyway, what could the harm be in watching? At twenty-one and never searched he figured he was of course just going to be a bystander.
And then all things ran together too fast. An egg shattered. A brown hatched out. L'iyr forgot he'd ever even been solely one creature, as he felt Einherjath wrap not him, as if he'd always been there and- aside from Einherjath's solid comfort, a burning passion and - who the hell was A'gar?! L'iyr locked eyes with the handsome riderborn man and realized it. He'd impressed...
To the same dragon as someone else.
The queen roared, upset, and even the other riders and weyrlings seemed unsteadied by the development. But all Ein would tell anyone was that he feared between and needed both his riders to stay alive- and they needed him. But he never revealed why.
Suffice it to say, neither was happy with the arrangement. L'iyr loathes the weyrbrat boy, thinking him callous and dumb and far too forward. And every time he feels some echo of A'gar's thoughts, he shudders and forcibly recoils. They could feel eachother in the most uncomfortable ways, especially near Ein, and thus quickly began to try and avoid eachother and the brown in threes at all costs. But that only ever upset their dragon.
So they tried to get along, but weyrling training grew difficult, and neither wanted t cooperate- eventually, it was suggested they man up and find a place where they might be able to seek better help.
Rocky it was.
Dragon Profile
Name: Einherjath (Ayn-hair-juh-ath)
Color: Brown
Color Code: 7F5E3E (Subject to change as I fight with his appearance)
Impressed on: July 2011
Age: 1
Physical Description: A big brown, something like 38 feet in length, and with a powerful torso to match. His shoulders are strong and broad, with huge wings to support him. Those wings are broad and long, giving him both power and stamina in the air, and surprising maneuverability. His muzzle is sleek and tapered, bringing to mind the countless images of Terran raptors long extinct.
His whole body is leonine in it's shape, with a long middle and powerful limbs, and a long tail usually held out behind him proudly.
As for his color, he is a seemingly nondescript sort of tan-brown, but with a handsome pattern to his hide in reds and almost-gold shades layered on his back and limbs.
Dragon Defect/Injury: DOUBLE BOND.
Einherjath has TWO riders- A'gar and L'iyr.
If one of them dies, Einherjath will go between and it is very likely whoever of the trio may be left will be wrecked mentally and emotionally.
No one knows how flights will work.
He was sent to Earth because no one knew how to deal with it. It bothered too many of the other riders. Ein is perfectly happy with it, but refuses to explain his rationale beyond 'I NEEDED both of them.'
Base Personality:
Einherjath is...complicated? Mysterious. Aloof. Mostly incredibly frustrating. He's very intelligent, he knows that. He often actually acts like he's holding back some pretty impressive secrets- he always seems to be amused by the way people run around, as if he's got all the answers and isn't sharing them. He's a little smug, very confident, and absolutely immovable in his conviction once he'd decided something.
He's also incredibly stubborn, and won't tolerate things he does not approve of. He's kind of bossy. But without fail, whenever A'gar and L'iyr begin to argue, Einherjath will step in and remind them HE needs them, and simply push their bond at them and force them into ceasing their bickering. (It usually works too.) He loves both of them deeply, and knows full well he would die without BOTH of them.
But Einherjath has told L'iyr he chose the slender man for his quick wit, his cunning, his tenacity. He's said when he chose A'gar he needed fire, but L'iyr is his ice. Ein appears to have a bit of a poetic side around the young man, and brings to light his philosophical side.
((I can make him the son of a Minorholder if it's easier, but I wanted them to be as far different as I could get.))
