IC Date: Week of April 1st, 2012 IC Time: 3:30 a.m. Ladeth moved one of the eggs, humming softly to it. She knew the eggs would hatch soon, before the sun would rise. Soon, MentariHers would be able to leave the hot sands and be comfortable in their own weyr again. The smaller of the two eggs started shaking, hairline cracks appearing on the shell. Ladeth hummed louder, calling out to the Weyr. The eggs are hatching! Kimath, our eggs!Mentari woke with a start, looking over at Ladeth. The green had risen up onto her haunches, looking down at the eggs with a proud expression. Mentari hurried to get out of bed. What is it Ladeth? She asked. My eggs are hatching. She answered Mentari. Mentari grinned. Belatedly she realized Ladeth's call to the Weyr was what had woken her. But Mentari hurried to light the hatching sands so people would be able to see. She vaguely wondered how many candidates they had for the clutch... Green Ladeth X Blue Kimath 2 eggs
Candidates Standing Marcus Carrina Jurgont --- Ladeth's eggs are hatching. Surth said to Faizah. Faizah roused groggily. "This early in the morning...?" She asked. She got out of bed, getting dressed and grabbing the paperwork she would need for the hatching. She sighed. "Does Gorth and Kain know?" She asked Surth. Reyna chirped from her perch, then flew over to Faizah's shoulder. Yes. Faizah nodded, scratching Reyna's eyeridges for a moment. She walked out of her room and headed for the hatching sands. Are you coming, Surth? She asked. Faizah vaguely got an affirmative from the massive white dragon.

Why did it have to be first thing in the morning? That was Tad's thought as he hauled himself out of bed and threw on...to be frank the first clothes he could find. Well, the second, as somehow one of Mentari's bras had got mixed up in his stuff.
Probably a very pleasant somehow. He tossed it to one side and hopped onto Kimath's neck for the short flight to the hatching grounds, his shirt not fully buttoned. Clutch sire or no, he rather hoped nobody would be awake enough to notice that his shirt clashed with his slacks and his boots needed cleaning.
HE certainly wasn't awake enough to...well, he had noticed. He wasn't awake enough to care. The pale blue touched down on the sands, Tad's eyes searching for Mentari, for Candidates...and there was Faizah, here in her capacity as records keeper. He slid down from his blue and wandered over to his lover, reaching for her hand.

In truth, Chance was awake, and while not particularly pleased about it, he didn't really lose any sleep. He was usually awake early on in the morning, and he was an hour or two ahead of everyone else here. So, while it was actually half passed three here, is mental alarm clock said something closer to six in the morning.
He was laying there, catching up on politics (the Republicans were really going all out this election) on his borrowed laptop, when he received the call from Ladeth about her tiny clutch of two. Frown settling upon his face, he stood, slipping on his white robe and leather sandals. They were slightly worn from Standing at so many Hatchings, but still servicable. He cared not about Impressing, really. He was only here because it was earth and not Reedsport. It would do until he was too old to stand.
He walked out out of his room, Celt flying after him lazilly. He was to Stand, whether he wanted to or not.
Walking out into the burning heat of the Sand, he bowed and stood back, arms crossed before him.

Mentari smiled as Tad came up and took her hand. She was excited as she watched the eggs shake, throwing the sand off the tops of them. She gave Tad a strange look though, as she noticed his general lack of clothing coordination. But she decided to ignore it. That was nothing in comparison to the fact that they would finally get to see Ladeth and Kimath's children.
She smiled and waved at Faizah as she entered the sands. Faizah seemed tired, and Mentari frowned about that. She shook herself, promising to herself that she would talk to Faizah later.
A single candidate appeared on the sands, bowing to Ladeth and Kimath before simply waiting. Mentari was happy that there was atleast one candidate, but she wondered where the others were. There were two eggs. There should be atleast four candidates...
There. There were another two. Two that was left over from the Two-Gold clutch. Mentari sighed a little in relief. Atleast there was enough for the eggs, even if it was only one extra...
---
Carrina and Jurgont rushed onto the sands, afraid they might be too late. They knew the clutch was small... They managed to sigh in relief when they arrived before the dragonets had broken the shell, however.
They approached the green that was the mother, Ladeth, and bowed. Then they turned to the father, who was so pale as to appear to be white, and bowed to him as well. They had been told he was a blue, yes, but seeing him raised questions. Never had they seen such a pale dragon...

"Ah, good...there they come." There were Candidates, and more than the number of eggs. Tad would have liked to see a couple more, to give the dragonets some choice. He didn't want to see a bad match or, worse, a hatchling going Between.
Three...might be enough. He realized he was oddly nervous, almost as if he were one of those young people, and he glanced at his Kimath. Was Kimath worried about this too? He didn't seem to be...

Chance stood stiffly, carefully standing straight without locking his knees in place. It would not do for him to collapse during a Hatching, whether he wanted to be there or not. He would not appear weak.
It seemed as if he was the only person of color present. Damned racists....were Africans and those descended from them so inferior? It was the same on Pern; nearly all of those who were from Earth were white, hispanic, or Asian. Few were ever colored.
((Forgive my short post....I have no muse for this particular character.)

Ladeth watched the gathered candidates closely, as the smaller of the two eggs began to crack. The slightly larger one wasn't far behind. It seemed that there would be no telling which egg would hatch first...
((Sorry for my extreme short post.))

It was all over fairly quick, Chance surmised. First one egg hatched, and then the other. A Blue and a Green, the the draconic parents watching the proceedings carefully, closely. He had turned on his heal, ready to exit the Sands, when a thought, not his own, intruded on his mind.
Why do you leave with me not with you?
It surprised the man enough to make him stop in his tracks and turn to watch the dragonets more closely. Sure enough, the Blue seemed to be making his way toward him, just as the Green made his way toward the only girl there. It was coming toward him, he thought again, stunned. Your Benzenth is not an it. I am a he, actually, he said, sounding annoyed. I feel as if I count eat something very large, he added as he caught up with the still speechless man.
After a moment he blinked. "Fine," he growled. "Benzenth, you are going to be a pain."
If it was possible, as Marcus turned back toward the exit, he could have sworn he saw the dragon smile.
