IC Date: Week of Jan. 15th, 2012 IC Time: 4:09 p.m. [/u] Aurora found herself in the Infirmiry. She had been feeling a little off lately. She was tired, constantly hungry, sore and a little nauseous. She thought she was coming down with a cold or something similiar. But what the doctor told her took her by surprise. "You're pregnant.""What?!" She yelled, jumping to her feet. The doctor cringed away from her. But Aurora's anger and surprise had faded as quickly as it had come. A smile came to her face, and she slowly sat back down. She wrapped her arms around her stomach. "Yes. This will do nicely." She muttered. The doctor was looking at her strangely, but he didn't dare comment. He knew the Weyrwoman's mood swings, and he would rather not be on the receiving side of it. I shall call Uthekielth's rider.[/color] Faith said to Aurora. Aurora sent her pleasure in that idea. Uthekielth! Mine asks your rider to meet her in the Infirmiry.

Z'ran had been spending most of the day taking care of Uthekielth and his riding gear. He had started the day, cool though it was, giving the massive beast a bath, then oiled the bronze at his request. That had taken the better part of the day. Then he had taken a look over his gear and determined that some of the straps should be replaced.
That was what the man was doing when Faith summoned them to the Infirmary.
The bronze contemplated the summons for a moment before deciding. We come, Uthekielth replied. Luckily for the green, he was having a good day that day, as he had for the several weeks since Faith's flight.
Mine, Faith requests you meet her rider in the Infirmary. I alreadt told her we'd come, so let us go.
Z'ran rolled his eyes. "You've been sweet on that green since you won the flight. But we're expected now, so I suppose," the junior Weyrleader sighed. He vaulted onto Uthekielth's back, and the bronze leapt into the air, turning in a lazy circle before heading to the Infirmary ledge.
Once the bronze landed, Z'ran hopped to the ground, then strode in with a perplexed expression. "You called for us, Aurora?" he queried.

Aurora smiled up at Z'ran. "Indeed I did. I have some good news to share with you, Z'ran." Her smile was sweeter than usual. Almost sticky sweet.
Aurora vaguely wondered what his reaction would be to find out that his Weyrwoman was carrying his child. It didn't matter to her. This was the ultimate revenge on that no good Tamahome. What right did he have to get that blonde haired gold weyrling pregnant? None. Aurora saw no gain in it. She saw no point to the brat keeping the baby. She should just between it and be done with the whole thing.
Aurora shook her head, trying to clear her head. She didn't need to be thinking such nasty thoughts at that moment. She should be thinking happy thoughts. Thoughts about how she was besting that stupid man who called himself a Weyrleader...

Z'ran had learned quickly what signals to look for when Aurora was up to something, and there were warning signs everywhere. Remaining somewhat cautious, he took a few steps closer. No need to seem rude, wary though he was.
"And what news is that?" he asked, mind running over any possible reason why she was a, in the Infirmary, and b, why she would call for hi--Oh shards.
"You're pregnant, aren't you?" he offered before she could reply to his previous question.
((Sorry it's short. x.x))

((It's fine -smiles-))
Aurora nodded, her smile never slipping. "Indeed I am. You're the father." She said simply. There was no point in mincing words or beating around the bush.
Her green eyes sparkled as she watched the bronze rider's reaction. Things were going to get interesting here at Isle. And Aurora was going to be in the thick of it. The doctor had right before Z'ran had gotten there, but Aurora didn't care. She had had enough scares, and done enough research, to know what needed to be done now that she was pregnant. There was only one thing she regretted about this child.
It wasn't Kain's...
Her smiled slipped for only a second. But then she shook her mind of such thoughts. There was time enough for that to happen. Then that no good Faizah would see that Aurora was twice the woman as she was. Even if she did ride a larger dragon...
Aurora turned back to Z'ran. He was oddly still and silent. Or had she zoned out again? Aurora couldn't be sure.

Z'ran didn't feel any attachment to this woman. But she was carrying his child. Well, the child had his genes. He didn't feel really anything at being told he was going to be a father. No real attachment to the child that was growing even now in Aurora's womb.
It was like he knew he wasn't the first choice of being a father for the child, and it made him indifferent. But, of course, how could he know Aurora's thoughts?
"How far along are you?" he asked, still feeling concern over the knowledge that pregnancy was sometimes a long and arduous process. As little attachment as he felt for the Weyrwoman, there would still be problems should the Weyr lose her.
Though he figured she had too many devious plans to simply let herself pass on.
But tragedies sometimes were unavoidable...His eyes hazed over somewhat as he thought about the accident that left him both Holdless and an orphan. Forcing the memories aside, he returned his attention back to the present, returning his attention to Aurora.
((You know, the more I roleplay with Aurora, the less I like her...))

((Lol. That's the point. No one is supposed to like her.))
His voice didn't betray any emotion. It was almost as if it didn't matter to him that she was carrying his child. Aurora cocked her head to the side, trying to figure out Z'ran's reaction.
"Six weeks." She told him. She was talking a little more abruptly, trying to intice some reaction out of the man. Aurora almost felt insulted. Did the man feel no pride that the Weyrwoman was carrying his child?!
She got to her feet, slowly, which should have set alarms shrieking. She was getting a little on the mad side. The man didn't care that she was carrying his child? The man didn't care that he got the honor of saying that he had gotten her pregnant? She tried to shake herself a little, to calm herself down.
It didn't work...

Z'ran noticed Aurora was already assessing his general lack of a reaction, and that it was infuriating the Weyrwoman. The slow rise to her feet almost had him backing up, but with women like Aurora, he had learned not to show fear. Confidence and control of himself is what he needed here.
And maybe it was only remorse over having lost his family that set him so distantly from the woman who was carrying his child. He felt no particular attachment to her, but as he continued to think it over, he realized that he would have to play nice with the Weyrwoman if he wanted to see his child.
Trying to appease the rage he could practically feel building up inside the woman, he closed the distance between them and took her into his arms, holding her close. "I'm sorry, I was just thinking of my family. It always...stops me in my tracks," he said. "How are you feeling, Aurora?"

Aurora's anger stopped in its tracks as Z'ran took her into his arms, holding her close. She barely heard his explanation, but it was enough to appease her. She smiled, laying her head on his shoulder. Yes. This was the reaction he should have...
"I don't feel so well. Nauseous and emotional..." She said, playing up her symptoms a little.
Besides. She was carrying this man's child. She deserved a little attention from him. And this was the perfect way to get back at Tamahome for knocking up that little blonde brat! She wrapped her arms around Z'ran, controling the urge to dig her nails into him. Yes... She had a right to be possesive of the bronze rider now. She smiled a little. That might be entertaining...

Z'ran sighed quietly, to himself, but rubbed Aurora's back with one hand to calm the oh-so-obviously distressed Weyrwoman.
"Six weeks is too soon to know what gender the child is, isn't it?" He was vaguely familiar with the Earth concept of an ultrasound, having researched it out of curiosity. Not only could they tell how many children the woman was going to have, they could tell the gender after a certain point. Somewhat like the dolphins on Pern, but they couldn't tell what the gender was.

Aurora nodded slightly. "Four months is the earliest to know gender." She whispered.
((Sorry for the extreme short post. Aurora-muse is on strike.))

"Have you already had an ultrasound?"
((It's conversation. Not much can be done about it.))

((That's true))
Aurora shook her head. "No, I just found out myself. I immediately had Faith call for you." She explained.

Z'ran nodded slightly. "I see. Well, thank you for alerting me so promptly, Aurora. I really appreciate it." And, thinking about it, he did. He just had to keep on this woman's good side, as he knew she had the right to keep him from seeing the child.
But did she even want to keep it? Warily, he asked, "You are planning to keep the child, yes?"

Aurora nodded, "Not a problem, Z'ran."
At his question of whether or not she was going to keep the baby, she paused. She hadn't thought about it. She liked children, yes. But would she have the patience to deal with an infant? She wasn't sure...
She thought about it. She wanted to keep the baby, but would she be the best for it? What could she offer a child at Isle, even though she was the Weyrwoman? She wasn't sure. But she wouldn't give it up for adoption. No... Maybe she would simply find a babysitter around the Weyr that would watch the baby for a bit.
She nodded to Z'ran. "Yes, I plan on keeping it."

Z'ran wasn't sure he was relieved or concerned to hear she was keeping the child. Though he supposed he was more glad to hear she wouldn't be betweening the child. But, so long as she didn't oppose it, he would be in the child's life, and he was now looking forward to it.
He just had to keep Aurora happy. Possibly a task that was easier said than done.
