IP Time: 4:27 pm The day Alex had been waiting for, hoping for, and dreading was finally here. Today, she would give birth to her daughter. She had gone into labor nearly seven hours ago, and gone to the infirmary after three hours had passed, and only then at Eturynth's forceful insistance. When the doctor's had asked whether or not she would like any pain madication during the birthing, she had very nealy lost her own temper and launched herself at the unoffending man; that she did not was only because she stiffened due to a contraction. God, she hated those. Taking her reaction as a definite yes, he hurried to explain was would be used, what would happen, ect, even though she repeatedly told him that she did not care. Soon enough, thankfully, she was under the influence of the drugs. Gorth, Eturynth murmured sweetly My rider is soon to bear her child.Tell yours to go there, now. The Green had no care to guard the infirmary as so many of the others had down when thier riders had born thier children. In all truth, doing so would not make any difference, so why bother actually doing it? Finally, when it was all over, Alex lay in the bed holding her daughter. A sweet, almost innocent pout adorned her fair face as she looked down at the little face wrapped in the soft pink cloth. She had already told them her self-chosen name: Isabelle Aryn. She had told them, too, that the babe would have no third name. She felt it would perhaps keep the animosity betweennher and Kain at a minimum for the time being. Thier conversation not so long ago had struck a chord within Akex. Is was true, she did not want to lose her baby, not after struggling to keep it for so long. And true, she did not want to have to care for Isabelle. In order to find a semi-happy medium, she had decided that she would attempt to mend whatever relationship she had with Kain. That way he would perhaps help her.

As if Kain wouldn't want to help with his child. He had intended to do just that the entire time Alex was pregnant, whether she had liked it or not. He was the Weyrleader, and while he hated throwing his title around, he was willing to do it when the fruit of his loins was involved. So Kain found himself outside the Infirmiry, again, waiting to be let into the room.
As soon as Gorth had relayed to him that Alex was in labor, he had hurried down to the Infirmiry. He had half expected Eturynth to be guarding the door, like so many other dragons had. But he was extremely surprised to find that she was not. He wondered about that, but decided to put it from his mind. He had something else, something more important, to focus on at that moment.
He wondered when he would be allowed in to see his newest child. His curiosity and impatience was getting the better of him.

The midwife opened the door and stepped out, almost crashing herself into Kain. "You can go in," she said perkilly, beaming at him.
Inside, Alex had a comic pout on her face and was holding the pink bundle carefully. "Well? Come in, why don't you!" She smiled wryly, and lifted the girl slightly in an odd shrug. "Sit down," she commanded him imperiously. When he complied, she, without any warning hefted the girl into his arms.
"Kain, meet your daughter, Isabelle Aryn."
((Sorry for the crappy post.))

Kain was rather surprised when Alex practically dropped the precious bundle into his arms. But he couldn't help but smile down at the baby swathed in pink. His second child, as well as his second daughter. He could only imagine how they would be when they were older. He could almost picture them together already. He hoped that Isabelle would get along with Cristina, for the sake of all involved.
"She is gorgeous." He whispered, only loud enough for Alex and himself to hear.
He was proud of Alex. She had changed a lot of people's opinion about her, simply by keeping the baby. And she had done a good job of it. She should be proud of her daughter, and of herself.
((What's the baby look like?))

Isabelle was sleeping, having long since exhausted herself screaming and crying as all newly born babies did. Her tuft of dark hair adorned the crown of her head, and long, dark gold lashes adorned her eyelids. A tiny fist was held next to her slack face.
Alex watched her daughter and felt something odd stirring within her heart. It was something like what she had with Eturynth, but, no, that wasn't quite right. Isabelle was her daughter, and she supposed that what she was feeling was a maternal love for the babe not yet an hour old.
She could only smile as Kain whispered to her. It was true, she thought proudly. The girl was gorgeous, if she could say so herself. A fitting addition to Alex's little faie of beauties. "She should be," she muttered. "She's mydaughter."
Alex leaned her head back, closing her eyes as exhaustion thretened to overtake her. Even with the meds, the birthing had taken its toll. She was exhausted, and knew well that she would stay where she was for a day or two.

Kain couldn't help but smile at Alex's comment, even as he continued to watch the slumbering child. Alex was full of herself, but she was beautiful. And their daughter was beautiful. Isabelle, a name as beautiful as the baby he held in his arms.
Cristina and Isabelle, half sisters of the Weyrleader.
It sounded almost comical. One was the daughter of a wherling. One was the daughter of a weyrling. Both seemed to inherit his dark hair, and probably his height. Though they were too young to tell right now. Cristina was only a few months older than Isabelle.
((crap post. sorry.))
