IC Date: Week of Jan. 29th, 2012 IC Time: Just past Dawn Mira surveyed the organized chaos that was underway in the Kitchen and Dining Hall. She made sure that the Head Chef and Sous Chefs didn't have trouble with the preparation and cooking of food. She also made sure that there would be enough for everyone because this would be Rocky Weyr's second Hatching Feast. Like most dinner parties that Mira had attended, the food was laid on the tables buffet style. On the table, there were trays of beef stew, honey-glazed ham, fried chicken, barbeque chicken wings, sheperd's pie, chicken pot pie, mixed stir-fry vegetables, corn on the cob, pasta with sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy, baked sweet yams, steamed white rice, pork fried rice, vegetable fried rice, bread pudding, custard pie, apple pie, cheese cake, and jelly (strawberry, orange & lemon) to name a few. Mira didn't know when the Hatching would be over, but she dearly hoped that they had time to finish before the crowd came through the dining hall. When she was satisfied with the food being laid on the buffet table, she moved over to the plates and utensils inspecting them for flaws. After a while, Mira was satisfied with the cleanliness of the plates and utensils. Now on to the tables. This morning, after everyone had left for the Hatching Sands, Mira had the servants bus the tables and ordered that fresh white tablecloths be put on top the tables. While others were putting tablecloths on tables, Mira ordered the others to sweep the floor. Now the place looked immaculate. Mira sighed in relief as the preparations for the feast was finally complete. Now to wait for the Hatching to be over. Vaguely Mira recalled that there were two gold eggs in the clutch. She had been forcing Faizah to eat and sleep often while the eggs hardened, and as used to dragons as she was now, she didn't understand all the stress revolving around the eggs. At least, she hadn't until Kain had explained to her that it was unheard of for more than one gold egg be clutched at the same time... Mira sighed as the first of the residents made their way into the dining hall. She put on a smile, greeting them as they entered, and kept an eye out for the newly hatched dragonets. She didn't want to miss a single one of the babies.

J'seph walked in looking around unsurely. This was where he was supposed to be right? He looked down to Qaeth, "You think this is where we're supposed to be?"
Qaeth looked around Yes J'sephMine, this is it. I smell meat and other stuff, it smells funny in here J'sephMine.
J'seph couldn't help but laugh a bit, rubbing Qaeth's eye ridges, "Those other smells are food for the weyrlings."
He and Qaeth looked around a bit more and J'seph wondered if they had been the first to arrive. Now was a time to celebrate and maybe chase after some ladies.
Ewww J'sephMine. Girls are icky.
J'seph laughed aloud, "You say that now, it won't be long before you're chasing after a pretty green."
Qaeth snorted and moved alittle ahead of His thinking to himself as he moved along, "Greens are icky too."

Ladies? Miriam and Rityth might, arguably, qualify...the hatchling green staying very close to her rider's side.
The young woman had taken the time to change into something suited to a party. Pernese tradition was apparently to have a gathering right after the eggs hatched. It made sense...at least as an excuse for a party.
Fortunately, neither heard any comments about girls being icky. Miriam might have had something to say about that...although most of her focus was on reassuring Rityth. She rather suspected she would end up eating and running. She wasn't sure the green dragon would handle being the center of attention, and was rather glad there were a lot of young dragons to divide it away from her. She did notice Joseph...and his bronze. The bronze was already quite a bit bigger than Rityth. Well.
Size was absolutely not everything. She headed for the food tables. "Tell me there's something here for a *human* stomach," she asked of those present. Raw meat apparently satisfied dragons, but...

Faizah walked into the Main Hall, looking around at the wonderful job Mira had done. Again. She was proving to be a very good Headwoman, and Faizah was just now starting to adjust to not having to see to the details of the kitchen much anymore. She smiled, going over and grabbing a plate of food. She greeted Joseph and Miriam, smiling and nodding at their dragonets. She fondly remembered Impressing Surth. Then again, all the riders were probably doing the same.
Kain walked in not far behind her, watching her for a moment before going to get his own food. He was glad that this hatching had not gone as badly as the last one. And Faizah seemed very relaxed this time around, which helped him out quite a bit. As he was getting his food Kain greeted Joseph. He noticed Miriam and her green dragonet, and smiled at them.
"Found anything good to eat yet?" He asked jokingly as he passed by them.
Yamina and her gold, Proudeth, slowly entered the Main Hall. Yamina's stomach was grumbling shamefully, but Proudeth was full and content. But now she wanted to socialize, which Yamina didn't mind all that much. She smiled, going over to the buffett style table and getting a plate of food. As she was there she noticed another girl, who had recently Impressed, recognizing her small blue from the Isle hatching they had attended.
Not to mention that she would recognize Theody anywhere. They had bonded nicely during their months of being Candidates together. Even if they had been candidates for two seperate races. Thinking of which, Yamina wondered why Theody had stood for the Isle clutch, instead of waiting for another wher clutch.
She decided not to ask. Instead, she smiled and waved at Theody.
