IC Date: December 13, 2012 IC Time: 10:30 A.M. Brixth had been complaining of hunger, not long after waking, but Alyssa first had to oil and bathe the nearly-year-old Gold, hardly believing it's already been a year. Almost, anyway. And now that her beauty of a Gold was gleaming in the cold sunlight with a fresh coat of oil, Alyssa finally let Brixth glide into the feeding grounds to select a meal. Leaning against the fence, she watched as the young Queen selected her prey and descended into the pens. Grinning slightly, she couldn't help but think that there could be no more gorgeous dragon on Earth or on Pern, but maybe she was just a little biased. Okay, maybe more than a little biased, but she wasn't ashamed at all about her lovely, fierce, and protective golden half. In fact, she was exceptionally proud of how well the Gold was growing, and how well she was controlling her protective urges. She hadn't lashed out at any other dragons since her hatching... ...As violently, anyway. And, sometimes being one with her dragon's mind, Alyssa knew how hard it was to keep Brixth from being overly protective. Maybe she would go and visit with Sandra sometime, try and apologize for what Brixth had done to Broeth the morning they had both hatched. Being so wrapped up in her thoughts, she didn't notice if anyone had joined her in the feeding grounds or not.

Yamina and Proudeth were on the other side of the feeding grounds, which had grown with the amount of dragons. Now it was hard to see the rider of another dragon if you were standing on opposite ends of the grounds. Which was the case with Yamina.
But they could obviously see Brixth. The golds were nearly a year now, and not as small as they used to be.
Proudeth had just brought down a cow, getting ready to eat, when the other gold had entered the feeding grounds. She growled at the other gold, hovering over her kill as if Brixth was going to take it. At the same moment, worry leaked over the mental link with Yamina.
Brixth is oiled. Why am I not? She asked discreetly.
Yamina sighed, but laughed slightly. "Because you are eating. And THEN you're getting a bath and an oiling." She explained to the overly proud gold.
Yamina glanced over, knowing that if Brixth was there, so was Alyssa. While they were candidates together, for that short amount of time, they had gotten along for the most part. But after what happened during the hatching, when Brixth attacked another dragonet, Yamina couldn't say she liked Alyssa anymore. The girl hadn't done much to stop her dragon. Nor had she ever apologized to the injured dragonet or her rider.
Yamina shook her head. She hoped they would stay over there, away from Proudeth and Yamina.

It wasn't as though Alyssa didn't want to apologize to Sandra and Broeth, quite the opposite, but she could never track them down long enough to say anything to them. Besides, she had a hunch Sandra wouldn't listen to what she had to say, her dragon having been injured by Brixth. And, from what she had heard, permanently blinded in that eye. It was a sad affair, and her shoulders slumped slightly in her upset.
Not again, AlyssaMine? It was a mistake, but one I do not regret making. Perhaps you should forget about it, as dragons do, Brixth stated, looking up from the steer she had felled.
Alyssa shook her head. "It's not as easy for us as it is for you. Besides, this might be something Broeth likely won't forget. And Sandra won't either...
"But I digress. Eat, dear one. I'll try and focus on something else," she said, looking over. She caught another flash of gold out of the corner of her eye, and turned her head toward it. Proudeth. That meant Yamina was too far.
During their candidacy, even though it was just at the betweened Gold's clutch, they were civil to each other. But once they had Impressed their respective Golds, things turned a little more sour. Okay, a lot more sour. She couldn't stand to be in Yamina's presence for long, thinking Proudeth's rider more than a little prideful and even egotistic, but then...
"Guess rider does match dragon," she muttered to herself idly, unable to pick out Yamina herself even though she knew she was there, and that she was near her own Gold. Alyssa looked back over to Brixth. "Think I should go cause trouble? Or make them come over here?"
Brixth snorted, her only response before going back to her meal. But Alyssa could feel the slight needles of irritation radiating from her dragon, and knew she was watching Proudeth.
Proudeth and Hers would find it best to stay over there. I don't really feel like dealing with annoyances today.
Alyssa laughed slightly. "All right, dear one. I'll behave for you."

Yamina wasn't sure what would, or should, happen. Proudeth nor Brixth were attacking, and from what little Yamina could see, Alyssa was staying near her gold. Yamina wasn't going to leave Proudeth, either, but she was still curious as to what was going to happen.
She was on edge, and Yamina's nervousness was making Proudeth nervous. Which was strange. Usually Proudeth was rather laid back, if a bit of an attention hog. Yamina attempted to silently reassure and calm her gold. But she simply couldn't. She was too nervous for it to have any effect on her dragon.

Alyssa was, for once, staying calm in the face of confrontation even if it was only because Brixth herself was calm. Perhaps a little agitated, but still calm. She leaned back casually against the fence, waiting for her beloved dragon to finish her meal patiently, but she was just daring Yamina to try something.
She needed a little entertainment in her day.
Brixth snorted at Hers, thinking her insistence on trying to provoke Yamina silently annoying. If you're going to insist of causing trouble, make it worth the trouble. Don't just glower at each other from across the pens, the gold rumbled, rising to find another panicking beast to continue her meal.
Alyssa chuckled a little. "Unfortunately, dear one, it isn't quite so simple. If I do cause trouble, it'd have to be downscale enough to keep from getting in trouble. Besides, I don't want to cause trouble. I just want to speak my mind to her. Of course, with what I have to say, it'd be nearly the same thing," she mused, turning her head to grin slightly at her shining gold. Brixth merely rolled a calm eye at Hers, turning her attention back to the fearful animals.
