IC Date: September 5, 2012 IC Time: Around 9 in the morning IC Setting: A rather chilly morning around 50 °F (10 °C)
Lesla, & Green Houkath It was a chilly morning. Lesla and Houkath had been up for an hour or so. However, Lesla's flits were still sleeping. Still, Houkath had opted to stay at the ledge near the entrance in their weyr, while Lesla went down into the Dining Hall to get breakfast. As the hour passed, Houkath showed signs that she was ready to rise for her first ever maiden flight.
When Lesla came back up in her weyr, the first thing she noticed was Houkath's brilliant shiny green hide. At first, she admired her green dragon that was basking under the morning sunlight. However, of a sudden, Houkath looked up at her with a hunger and a need to fly. It was then that Lesla had an inkling as to what was going on. Before she could say anything to Houkath, the green had launched herself down to the Feeding Ground.
Lesla swore aloud as she turned back to run towards the feeding grounds to make sure that Houkath didn't gorge herself. As she ran, she mindspoke Houkath. Houkath! Don't you dare gorge on the meat! she all about shouted at her bonded.
Houkath had landed in the feeding ground scattering most of the stock that was reserved for dragons. Her hide was a luminous green that shined even in the morning light. She had just pounced on a sheep when she heard Hers shouting at her not to gorge. What do you mean don't gorge on the meat!? I can do what I want and you can't stop me! Houkath replied back, indignant at having to be told what she can't do.
Lesla was shocked at how Houkath had replied to her. She didn't even have time to wonder how the male dragons would know that her Houkath was rising. However, she knew what was to happen in a mating flight and she knew that she couldn't let Houkath gorge. With a mental shake she replied back, I don't think so young lady! I can very much make sure that you don't gorge so you better just blood that animal, Houkath! silently as well as loudly, "I don't think so young lady! I can very much make sure that you don't gorge so you better just blood that animal, Houkath!" This outburst may just well be enough, to give those folks that Lesla passes by, as to what's going on.
Houkath opened her mouth to roar a protest, but nothing came out of her muzzle. She grudgingly complied to Lesla's request and just blooded her kill. She was very tempted to take a bite of the meat as well, but Hers was keeping a tight grip on her and wasn't about to let her do whatever she wanted. With a shake of the carcass, Houkath pounced on another animal and blooded it once more. The blood of the two animals had slated her hunger. Now, she was ready to fly. With a bound and a furling of her wings, she launched herself up into the air waiting to see if any will dare to court her in the sky.
EDIT Chasers: Brown Ryath, Brown Iaruth, Black Skirth, Brown Eyviilth
Winner: Black Skirth

"Do you have to, Ryath?"
Yes the brown informed his rider, launching towards where the green was blooding her kills, launching after her.
S'tor could not sigh too much. Ryath hadn't chased much of late, so he was bound to be horny, and it was some...some green he didn't know.
Some green ridden by a woman, he knew that much. One of the young greens, and Ryath was in the air after her, and he was seeking for the rider, even if he didn't know her. If Ryath lost, maybe he could find Nakia.
Why would he want to do that? He certainly didn't want to get her pregnant again, after the way she had reacted. She should take the earthers' pills, he thought. He had even thought of suggesting it, but...but.
But, then his thoughts were overwhelmed by his dragon's lust for a different green, which became his need for a different woman. The brown was in the air and the bright green was ahead of him...she would be a bright one even if she wasn't glowing with the force of her heat.
A very bright one indeed.

And if Ryath didn't win, S'tor could easily find Nakia. She was already out in the 'bowl, watching her flits, her dog Caley, and her horse Flicka run about together. It was a good day for them all to get some excersize, and she enjoyed seeing the dog and horse run about, trying to "tag" the flits.
She glanced over as she saw a flash of brilliant green from the corner of her eyes. As she noticed the rising green she smiled, remembering the fun from Isath's first and so far only flight. Nakia vaguely wondered when Isath would fly again, but decided not to worry about it. The green would fly when she felt like it.
Nakia turned back to watching the animals.
---
At the same time Houkath winged into the sky, another brown noticed her. Barely old enough to chase, but this brown decided he would chase this time around. Iaruth, who had been swimming in the summer warmed waters of the lake, left his swimming hole and headed for the feeding pens. He decided he would only blood one animal, then join the glorious green in the skies.
Iaruth blooded a goat, then took to the skies. Some of his lust and excitement was bleeding through the link to his rider. It wasn't long before she was in his head, asking what was happening.
What is it, Iaruth?
Green Houkath rises. I will chase her, mine.[/color] He explained. Then he turned to Houkath and let loose a short bellow of accepted challenge. I shall chase you, glorious Houkath! He answered her.

Browns were out in abundance today, weren't they?
Well, may as well add another to the list.
A dark shadow dropped from a high ledge near the weyrs, skimming the cliff face until, at the last minute, it separated and winged across the bowl low and fast. The black creature that landed by the feeding pens opened his mouth in an answering silent scream, flaring his wings and challenging the other browns briefly. So...the green and at least one suitor had something in common, if Houkath's silent challenge-roar was anything to go by.
But then Skirth was eyeing Houkath, and smiling inside. The black dragon was more than pleased, though his rider...? Not so much. In his Weyr, Liam was doubled ove,r swearing softly and trying to resist the flightlust.
"Dammit, Skirth, I don;t even LIKE girls..." He growled, even as he found himself tearing off toward the bowl to hunt down Lesla. His own choice and preference never seemed to matter when it came to flights- something that irked him to this day.
Skirth however was thrilled, and the red-violet of flightlust was already bleeding into his eyes. Lovely Day, isn't it, Houkath? You could hardly have picked a better day for your flight...do hope you won't mind another unworthy male in your flight? His tone was rich and dark, and besides, he sort of had a thing for the green.
Well...now he did, anyway. He quickly tore through a nearby herdbeast, draining it's blood messily before leaping into the air after Houkath. He barely paid any attention to the other chasers, instead focusing on the green not far above, and straining his wings to follow her- these other browns? Hardly worth the breath it would take to talk to them. Er. Metaphorically.

Eyviilth lifted his head from its resting place as he heard the distinctive sound of dragon wings in flight and a woman's heated shouting. He had been dozing within the weyr he shared with W'yatt, carefully positioned on the dragon couch that had been provided when they arrived. W'yatt had remained locked inside for days, attempting to reprogram his mental alarm clock and get used to the different place and climate.
Eyviilth listened, attempting to discover the reason behind the screeching woman. Don't gorge...just blood...Houkath... He knew the meaning now; a female was Rising, one by the name of Houkath. Rising and shaking himself roughly, he peeked into his Rider's darkened room.
W'yatt? he asked, prodding the sleeping man with his thoughts. W'yatt, wake up, Mine. He waited until a messy blonde head appeared from beneath the blankets before he continued once more. There is a Chase, W'yatt. I wish to participate.
W'yatt groaned, unwilling to rise from his bed. Eyviilth, We just got here, he grumbled as he swung himself into a sitting position and began to put on some clothes. Go, if you insist on going.
Eyviilth bowed his head slightly before falling into the air outside thier weyr and floating easilly toward the feeding grounds. Falling on a cow immediately, even as if was fleeing from another dragon, he sank his fangs into the neck and drained it in what seemed like only a few seconds.
When W'yatt had finished assembling his ensemble, he slipped out of his weyr and began to walk rather calmly toward where he knew Houkath's rider must be; Eyviilth was becoming rather close to him in thoughts.
Eyviilth leapt into the air almost at the same time some of the other browns did. He did not care to say an y fancy words to her; he would not say any at all. He had seen her silent roar and had guessed the truth. This one could not speak, and perhaps could not even hear. Eyes blazing with lust and want, he merely gave an answering growl.

Lesla, & Green HoukathBy the time Houkath launched into the air, Lesla felt herself merging minds with her dragon and she lost focus with her surrounding and more focused on Houkath and her flying. Lesla turned around in a circle, in sync with Houkath who had circled around to view those that have dared to chase her. Up In The AirBeing mute, no actual sounds ever came out of Houkath's muzzle although she did do the motions of opening her mouth if she wanted to roar, bugle, or anything else. Being deaf was a difficulty as well for Houkath didn't know what the other dragons were telling her. Seichou might have passed on messages from other dragons to her, but she hadn't wanted the flit to be with her during her mating flight. Besides, the flit might prove too much of an annoyance and she might do something to the little flitt. Anyways, Houkath saw that she had four chaser and all of them were brown. She smiled to herself that no blues had dared to come after her. She would have been ecstatic if a bronze had deigned to join as well. Still, she will not complain for she had enough to chase her and enough to contemplate who will eventually catch her. As she swooped high up in the air, she stopped caring who was following her and just flew for pure fun. When she had reached the highest peak of her flight, she tucked in her wings and dived down to the ground, enjoying the rush of air that passed through her body. Before she could smash to the ground, she opened her wings in a way that made her twirl up into the sky. And then, after twirling, she pumped her wings to fly as far and as fast as her wings could take her, not caring if she went to a place not used to seeing dragons in the skies. But as she flew, her muscles were tiring and she knew that she needed to pick someone soon. Houkath started to contemplate on which dragon she wanted to mate with as she now flew slower trying to catch her breath and saving some of her stamina. Down On The GroundLesla felt the rushing of air as if she were the one that was actually falling towards the ground. She flapped her hands as if they were wings, and imitated the things that Houkath did in the air. She was deaf and blind to those around her, and was one with her dragon one hundred percent. (( OOC: FYI, Lesla is still a virgin so... yeah, just letting folks know. And yesh, this'll be a short flight. ))

(( OOC: You probably don't want S'tor to win then. He's not known for being, ahem, nice to his bed partners ) She might be silent, but she was still lovely. Matching her silence, for now, Ryath stalked her. Watched her. She had flown fast and hard and was already tiring. A short flight, and he was glad there were no blues in the mix to take advantage of this. Assessing her. Assessing the competition. She tired, she slowed, and he lifted to position himself above her, a falcon waiting to stoop on the gorgeous prize. S'tor, watching the woman, watching her completely fall into her dragon's mind and soul. A maiden flight, the rider unused to the sensations that went through her. He could tell that already. She was beautiful to him, though, in that moment. Even more beautiful than Nakia, although that would not last past the flush of dragon-lust. He wanted to take her, to claim her, to make her his own.

Iaruth followed after the green, following as closely as he could. But he was a brown, not a blue, and he fell behind when she took her dive. But he managed to catch up once again when she came zooming upwards once more. Iaruth was a brown, and his stamina was not in question here.
But the young brown saw red when he noticed an older, and probably more experienced, brown take the spot over Houkath. He looked like he was ready to take her as soon as she slowed. And it just didn't seem fair to the younger brown. He roared a challenge at the older brown, angling over to try to get him to sway away from his hovering.
On the ground, Sarah was completely one with her dragon. This was also her first flight, and while she wasn't embarrassed at the time, she knew she would be later. She could see herself charging after S'tor, as Iaruth charged after Ryath. And she could feel the same anger at the older rider and his dragon for taking such an advantageous position.

Eyviilth grunted as he flew after the glowing Green. Her steep dives and quick, twirling rises were hard for him to follow. Like the others, he was glad no Blue had Chased as well; a Blue would easilly follow her airborne acrobatics, and so would have a greater chance at Catching her. Eyviilth, with his tail severed as it was, could only attempt to follow Houkath as she twisted up and down and up again.
W'yatt, calm and secure, stepped up a he watched the girl mimic her dragon. Yes, a first Flight for them, and hopefully a good one. Glancing at the other three assembled he widened his stance and crossed his arms, ready should one attempt to attack him. It had, after all, happened before and was fairly common between competition during Flights.
Eyviilth eyed Ryath, watching as he drifted closer to the Green. He wayched as he raised himself above. He watched as he positioned himself to take her as soon as she faltered.
Eyviilth snarled balefully, lips rising to show bared fangs.
Leaping forward in flight even as the younger Brown did, Eyviilth clamped his teeth around the thickest portion of Ryath's tail. Though not biting down hard enought to cause significant pain, he judged it was enough for the Brown to understand his point. You will not fly there! he hissed to the other. None will until she has chosen! Back away and I will release you...
W'yatt snarled even as his dragon did his face twisting into a mask of rage that, for once, he repressed quickly. His hand coming up even as the woman rushed past him, he caught her on her shoulder, holding her tight even as she fought to go at S'tor. "Do not, girl. This is a Flight; you will regret this later on."

((Oh boy. Prolly don't want Liam to win either, since I'm pretty sure that he's NEVER been with a girl. Ever.))
Skirth banked sharply, wheeling to the side and dropping out of the sky sideways as he followed Houkath's dive. The maneuver wasn't as fast or as steep or showy as a full on dive but it was an easy matter for him then to right himself and regain altitude as the green- far smaller than he, to be sure, and much faster, but his broad wings were good at one thing, and he climbed back up quickly.
Then his eyes flashed with worry-rage-defense and he roared a mute challenge to Ryath and Eyviilth- the black dragon wans't threatening them, more reminding them of their proper decorum in a flight like this! But He snarled and flipped wing-over-end and managed to come out between Ryath and Iaruth with a snarl and a baring of his fangs, making no move to challenge the other brown but very decidedly blocking his path.
NO! You have no right! He bellowed, voice loud and booming for all that his physical voice was silenced.
Liam, below them all, was snarling in just as much a fury as his dragon. And funnily enough, the man made no move, ignoring Skirth's sudden flare of chivalry to simply get between the other suitors and Lesla, doing his best to make it quite clear he wasn't moving until the green had chosen her mate, all six and a half feet of him.
"He's got the right of it." He growled, jerking his head roughly toward W'yatt. "Don't start this now. This isn't Crucith- don't spoil this for the girl." Augh. Now if only he could separate a little further from Skirth, and not half-see Lesla with a flash of green overlaying her skin, mesmerizing-

Houkath Up In The Air Being deaf and mute really had it's disadvantages. Before she had an inkling as to what's happening around her, there was suddenly a looming shadow above her. She was startled and would have squawked in surprise if she had any voice to do so. As it was, she was moving away when from the periphery of her eyes, she saw movement and turning her head back to look over her shoulders, she saw one of the browns about to crash onto the brown that was over her, and another brown that had managed to get a hold of the other brown's tail. She was worried that a fight might ensue during her mating flight of all things. And before she could do anything to avert the potential disaster, the black dragon had interposed himself to stop the potential fight that might have ensued. It was then that she decided. If not for that black dragon, disaster might have struck. And without further ado, she flipped on her tail and turned around to come face to face with the black dragon. She would have crooned if her voice let her do so. And with her wings suddenly getting heavy, she lined herself underneath the black dragon and looking back up at him, letting him know with her eyes, that he was the one that she had picked to be her mate.
Lesla Down On The Ground Lesla still felt one with her dragon, and she had looked worried when she found herself surrounded by dragons. Like Houkath, she had worried that a fight might ensue. And somehow she heard someone's tail-end of a conversation say, 'don't spoil this for the girl.' That voice lured her, hooked her like a fishing rod. And like Houkath, she made her way to that voice, her choice made as much as Houkath had made hers.
((OOC: I based the winner on the RP. I didn't look up anyone's character sheets. @red: Would you mind if Lesla got pregnant as a result of this flight?))

((LOL. I approve of this, and Houka, YES, Lesla may absolutely get pregnant from this if you so wish.))
Skirth snarled silently, a continued warning against the other browns- idiots, all of them, no decorum, no pride in their flight. Hmph. If Skirth had been the arrogant type (luckily that seemed to be reserved for his rider most of the time) he would have chewed them out. As it was, he was confident enough he'd gotten his message across.
And then- Houkath wasn;t behind him any longer. He'd turned to check, to keep following her path but she was no longer there, but curving sharply in the air. Oh, had she made her choice? He was prepared to back off, if she'd chosen one of the fighters (though the thought made him silently seethe) but instead she flipped to be parallel to HIM.
Oh. OH. Skirth's eyes flashed with delight and some small measure of surprise, and when she lined up with him, making her choice clear, he simply reacted. He reached for her, assuring she wouldn't fall without him there to protect her, and let his wings close about her protectively, possessively.
At that point, everything else in the world could have been in flames around him. Didn't matter anymore.
~~
If a fight were going to break out, he would kind of HAVE to do something, right? He wasn't Pern-bred, didn't know if this was normal or not, just that their arguments and idiotic brutality were annoying him.
He was about ready to bow out entirely ant let them do as they pleased, but two things stopped him: One, the thought of Lesla alone with any of them, as keyed up as they all seemed to be, and Two: Skirth's sudden swell of pride and happiness and a whole lot more- He felt Lesla nearby, as easily as Skirth felt Houkath pressed to him, and he instinctively reached out and pulled Lesla close. A pause (remarkable, really, given the circumstances) and he simply grinned at the other riders present.
"Get. OUT." He snarled, and one look said that if they didn't comply rather swiftly he'd be more than happy to 'escort' them out.

In the air, Ryath snarled at the other male, snapping back at him. Violence in flights, though, was not an unusual thing...and then it was over. She had chosen somebody who was not him.
He snarled again, and then dived towards the lake, bent on washing off what was left of his lust in the cold water. There would be other greens to chase, and perhaps, again, a green-gold. Or even a true gold. He was big enough.
No such easy exit for his rider. With a snarl of his own, S'tor fled the flight room pretty much before the get out was yelled. One left, when one lost. That was tradition, that was the way of it. Out into the bowl he ran...and then he caught a glimpse of Nakia.
He would not force her...he wasn't that much of an asshole, but he did make his way towards her, his intent quite obvious. Obvious enough to allow her to choose between telling him to eff off or pouncing him. Either reaction was equally likely in his mind...and if she told him to eff off, he could always go join his dragon in the lake...but she was there, and he could not resist trying. Could not resist approaching her. Did he have feelings for her he had not yet acknowledged?

Iaruth watched as Houkath alined herself with the black brown dragon. And he noticed another brown turn out and head for the lake. Iaruth followed Ryath, recognizing the dragon's idea. The cool lake would help...
Sarah was bewildered for a moment, looking around blearily. She saw Lesla in the arms of the bigger brown rider, Liam if she remembered him name correctly. She recognized that Houkath had made her choice, since she could feel Iaruth's disappointment. But she didn't move from her spot until Liam growled for everyone to get out. Sarah didn't wait another moment, jumping and hurrying out of the room.
Meanwhile, Nakia had been watching the flight with a small smile on her face. Oh, how she enjoyed the drama of flights. And she was more than a little glad when she saw the green choose the black dragon. Which meant Ryath had lost, and his rider would be looking for release.
And sure enough, Nakia saw S'tor running into the Weyrbowl. Running right towards her. She smiled, a smile that would melt any man's heart, and practically purred when she spoke. "S'tor..." She beckoned him closer, walking backwards to a certain hidden clearing she knew of.

Eyviilth did not release his captive when the odd black dragon roared his angry declaration. Cold hatred flashed through his whirling eyes as he bit down just a little harder when Ryath made to harm him. He had no right, had Skirth said? He had every right to remind this sharding idiot of a brown that he was not the only one with a claim to the Green.
But no. Three of the four had no true claim as Houkath chose her mate. The black one had won in this Chase, not Eyviilth. Not Ryath, either. Releasing his, the Brown shot upwards and angled steeply for the fluffy clouds overhead. He dove into the lowest lying one, disappearing into its frigid, watery depths.
W'yatt, even as Eyviilth released Ryath, released Sarah, who immediately raced from the room on the heels of S'tor. Eying Liam with contempt, he slowly, almost casually, strode from the room and shut the door quietly behind him.
This would, undoubtably, be the first of many Flights at Rocky, he reminded his seething Brown. They had better get used to being denied satisfaction.
