Yin and Yang flitted around, the twin blues living up to their name when their colors touched.
Tatsuya watched them with a smile. He was relaxing in the common room while his dragon slept.
His bronze. That meant more on Pern than it would mean here. Of course, his dragon was not deformed. Technically, he could go to Pern. If he did, he would be groomed for command.
That was something the pretty young man did not know whether he wanted. If he stayed, then he would be a key part of the Weyr in any case. It was the bronzes who flew the queens, and their fertility was more reliable than the smaller green females. They threw larger clutches.
Then again, did they really... "What do we really want, in the long term?" he asked his blues.
Of course, Yin and Yang did not answer. They were far too busy playing tag.

Kima only wanted to be somewhere quiet and comfortable while she wrote to her mother amd brother. She believed a corner in the common room would do nicely. The library was much to ominous when she was alone in there, and she wanted to change her view every once in a while.
What she did not expect was someone to be in there already; to add to that was the fact that the one in there was a Bronzeweyrling.
Eyes downcast, the girl began to back away murmuring "I am sorry" over in both Japanese and English several times. Unfortunately, she tripped as she backed toward the door, falling over and shattering the ink bottle she held against a table. She cried out as the dark liquid stained her pale lavender dress.
((It looked so pitiful just sitting here, empty, and I thought he should meet Kima....))

Tatsuya was on his feet when the girl yelped...then relaxed as he realized she wasn't hurt. Beyond her dress and her dignity.
She seemed impossibly shy. Very uncertain. Was she scared of people in general, men, or bronzeriders? One of the reasons he had hoped for a bronze was that they had a reputation for being very straight...he hadn't even thought about the responsibility. Well, if he stayed here, it wouldn't be too bad.
"Are you alright?" he asked, finally. Ink on the dress was probably not a good thing...it might stain...but a dress was a lot less important than a girl.

Kima felt humiliated. What was she to do? She had made a fool of herself in front of someone, and that someone was a Weyrling. A Bronzeweyrling, to be precise. She was a mess, not at all the prestine flower her mother had told her she must always be when in the company of others.
Eyes focused downward to hide the tears that had begun to form, she nodded. Awkwardly she pushed herslef off of the floor and knelt to retrieve the broken pieces of glass that littered the floor. "I am fine," she whispered softly.
Sensing the girl's upset, Ouji burst into the room, chittering imperiously as he flew in circles above her. In all ways, he looked like royalty ordering an annoying peasant away. "No, no, do not, Ouji!" she cried as he made to dive at Tatsuya.
Kima turned upset eyes to the man. " I - I apoplogize for his behavior," she stuttered
((Ack, muse is failing me!))

Yin and Yang, for all their lack of age and size, tried to block the other flit from attacking their human, screeching in unison.
"Honestly...firelizards." They weren't the most sensible of creatures, Tatsuya had found. His twins were generally more sensible than their green sister, but they were still silly. Maybe they'd grow out of at least some of it.
He could hope. For now, he tried to call them off so this didn't turn into a flit fight, even as he saw the girl kneel. "No, don't. You'll cut yourself. There's a dustpan and brush around here somewhere."
