Appearance: Average in height (Which makes him tall among his peers) at five feet and nine inches. He's your typical-looking young man, with Asian features (which makes perfect sense considering he IS Japanese.) His hair, when he hasn't decided to dye it obnoxious colors, is a deep brown; not quite black, but definitely a deep brunette shade. However, he has a habit of dying it insane colors- currently, it's spiked into a mohawk, and colored in layers of deep purple, maroon, orange, and bright red. His eyes are black, and he most of the time wears contacts (imperfect vision;) and he wears glasses when he reads.
His wardrobe is full of crazy clothing, though he'll be the first to tell you his kind of insane mix of visual kei, rock, and punk styles is one that's pretty popular in the groups he runs with. He likes crazy patterns, and things that wouldn't, shouldn't look good together, but he seems to be able to pull off the look with little effort.
He's got a multitude of piercings, and even more tattoos, including the Buddhist heart sutra printed down his back (A full passage, and the characters are printed in traditional vertical format and cover his entire back), and lines of what read as almost poetry in Kanji down his arms. The one he holds close is the line wrapping his upper left arm, which translates to "Close your heart to every love but hold no one in your arms but Me."

Personality: Normally a rather energetic and somewhat excitable young man, Shinji's attitude has darkened considerably since impressing. Now he's somewhat antagonistic and argumentative, and deeply protective of his sister- this hasn't changed, though.
It's his dragon's fear and paranoia that affect him; with Wrath always connected to him, he sometimes finds it hard to separate himself and reality from his dragons constant panic. This causes him to seem tense at almost all times, and he frequently looks tired or stressed.
History: A native of Tokyo, Japan, though he was born in and lived a decent part of his life in a small, rural, town in the Kyoto prefecture within the Kansai region (The information on Kansai is only relevant because it means he has a specific accent when speaking Japanese, and a pronounced drawl when speaking English). His past is somewhat muddled- he is a High school graduate, but he only barely scraped by. He ended up getting involved in some gang activity in High School, but it was never enough to get him more than a few marks on his police record.
He found his flitter egg on a visit back home, where he (along with his younger sister) stumbled upon a nest. Both picked up and egg; both were also quickly taken to Pern following the discovery of their hatchlings. (It truly didn't take long. They had to return to school, but when they tried to leave the still-small fire lizards at their parent's shop, the flitts almost immediately went between and followed them to school. After that, discovery was almost inevitable.)
Shinji's Sakura was announced to the public when the little green tried to protect Shinji when he got in a fight with another boy outside of school. The thug screamed, and attracted a policeman who also freaked out. It was only a few days later that F'lar appeared at their school, and with the help of a translator (who knows HOW F'lar got a translator...) he claimed that he needed to take the siblings with him.
Shinji wasn't thrilled at the idea, but, when given the offer to turn back, he still opted to attend the hatching, not wanting to leave his sister behind. He impressed, but when his dragon was revealed to have it's defect, he and his sister were transferred to Rocky Weyr.
(For the record, he and Miyuki speak nearly prefect English- a result of lots of time learning it and the fact that their Stepfather is American.)
Hatching and Impressing:
Shinji and Miyuki Impressed at Benden in the same hatching. Shinji wasn't expecting anything, but when a large and incredibly active bronze burst from his shell, everyone was pleased by the hatchling's vigor. The orange-red bronze thrashed around for a bit, snarling off some of his clutchmates, and violently charging up to each of the candidates, eyeing them all suspiciously, then moving on. When it came to Shinji, it screamed furiously, and jumped at him. At the last moment, it seemed to pull back, knocking Shinji to the ground, but doing no real damage. When it screamed again, it's eyes whirled in a myriad of colors, and it slowly crawled on top of Shinji's torso, to look the boy in the eyes. (Shinji wasn't hurt, but he certainly had a hard time breathing.)
My name is Wrath- You are mine, mine alone. I'm scared, Shinjiro; they will hurt you, and me. I will not allow them.
Shinji could only stare, but he reached a hand up to stroke the metallic creature's head softly. "No...no. They will never hurt you, not while I am here. You are safe, Wrath." He whispered to the little bronze. When Wrath finally let him up, he snarled protectively at the other hatchlings. Shinji murmured something and he seemed to calm down; then the new pair went to find food for the little one.
Dragon Defect/Injury: Wrath is severely aggressive, with fits of irrational and explosive anger with little or no warning, and a schizophrenic paranoia of anyone but his bonded. He's also slightly bipolar, and his emotions are unpredicatble. When he's calm, he still yet sees and hears things that aren't there, and he doesn't quite understand why no one else can see the colors fighting or why he's the only one who hears that drumbeat. If presented with a stranger or a dragon he has not gotten used to, Wrath will almost always opt to attack out of sheer panic- less of a problem as a youngling, but it could prove dangerous and fatal as the dragon grows, especially if an elder dragon were to retaliate, or if he were overcome by his fears during threadfall.
Shinji can keep him calm, but that requires the boy to be in sight of the dragon at all times, and it is likely that the dragon would never be able to fly in a wing with others without issue.
He and Shinji were transferred to Rocky with the hopes that modern psychotherapy and medication could help him control himself without Shinji's direct intervention (Shinji can forcibly calm the dragon by forcing his own emotions on Wrath, like a reverse of the bond that happens when Dragons fly.)

Wrath is a bronze that, when fully grown, would be about the size of Bronze Mnementh. He was denied by Pern due to his schizophrenia, which causes severe paranoia and bouts of aggression and combativeness. He was brought to Rocky Weyr in hopes that the medical knowledge and technology on Earth would help cease his problem. His best friends are Shinji, his bonded, and Sakura and Haruko, Shinji's green flitters. Wrath's personality is very combative and hostile to almost all except Shinji, and his sister and her gold.
Since being on Earth, he's been dosed on a variety of medications that calm him down a great deal, but they only serve to sort of mellow out the bronze. He's a little distant, really dreamy, and tends to ramble about things people can't see. Now he's capable of being around others, but his reactions are slow and a little 'off'.
Wrath is a strikingly colored bronze, with a coloration that would be more akin to bright polished copper than classic bronze. His hide has tones of brilliant orange-red in it, and in the sun, he shines like the bright metal his color is named for. Shinji takes some comfort in the fact that Wrath at least seems proud of his appearance, and even seems to enjoy showing off and preening. Though if someone were to stare too long, he might take offense...
Sakura (Hatchdate- June 15, 2009)
Sakura is Shinji's green firelizard at a size of about three feet and four inches at maturity. She is a very devoted, friendly and kind flit; often caring for Wrath and apologizing to those who have suffered his problem first hand.
Sakura is a lovely dark green, with the smallest hints of pale green dappling her back like the pattern of light through leaves on a clear day, and she dotes on everyone she meets, frequently even trying to tidy them up like a mother hen. She tends to surprise people with her queenlike tendencies, at least until she sees something shiny and gets distracted again.
Green Haruko (Hatchdate- November 7, 2010)
A happy and bubbly little thing so far, she still manages to be rather envious of Sakura's connection to herShinji. She also gets fussy if Shinjiro spends too much time around Miyuki, and Haruko will get very nasty around her or her flit after a short while.
(Let's not even discuss how she acts if Shinji tries to be nice to any of the other female flits besides Sakura.)
She and Sakura are close friends, and they tend to get into mischeif together. Haruko very much likes Wrath, but thinks he's silly.
Hatching:
An egg that was slightly away from the others shook for more than a minute before a little green finally popped out of it. She looked once around at the chaos of the hatching. Then her rainbow swirling eyes focused on one person off to the side. With single minded determination she made her way to him. When she reached him she clawed her way up the leg of his pants until she was perched on his shoulder, chirping for the food she knew was there.
