As everyone's attention was on the coveted gold egg, it began to hatch. The cracks widened almost violently as the little queen within fought with her egg. Small growls could be heard from within the shell, and a few of the female candidates had to step back or be hit by the egg.
With a loud crack the shell finally broke. Well, part of it anyway. Three fourths of the shell remained intact, but the little queen lay only a few inches from the broken shell. With a shake of her head, she got to her feet and rushed over to the shell that had been her home for the past few weeks. The little queen, a pretty light gold with a bright gold stripe from her forehead to her shoulders, was beautiful indeed. And entertaining!
She was growling at the shell she had hatched from. Then she reared up on her hind legs and slammed back down on the shell, breaking it. After it was broken she snorted satisfactorily, turning away from it.
Annoying shell wouldn't release me... She said in explanation. She turned her head, surveying the girls around her. Now which of you is mine...? She asked.
---
Yamina noticed one of the gold eggs hatching, and turned her attention to it. She was standing rather close to the egg, and took a few steps back when it started moving. Before Yamina knew it, the egg had hatched.
A gorgeous little queen lay on the sands. Yamina had only just noticed the stripe on her when the gold turned and destroyed what was left of her egg. Yamina couldn't help but smile. It was too cute not to smile.
Yamina took a half step towards the gold, then stopped herself. She had to wait for the dragonet to choose. She couldn't force herself on the little queen...
Now which of you is mine...?
Yamina wanted to step forward. She wanted to call out to the dragonet. But Yamina waited. The little queen would choose soon.

Hunter Cantrell Hunter couldn't help it. He was standing there, without any real shoes, in a black and blue checkered robe, falling asleep. He was in a place who had a schedule hours ahead of his schedule. He was exhausted. He had faithfully followed that tiny dragon here, but only after throwing some insults back at that guy that had pushed him. Thankfully, they weren't really insults, just odd things he made up. They sounded like something out of a Dr. Suess book. He didn't care; it was all the same in his eyes! He yawned, opening his eyes again. He must have slipped off for a few miutes, because a shell had already cracked right open, revealing a Bronze. At least, he thought it was a Bronze, from the way some of the girls were pouting. He managed to stay awake after that, berating himself for falling asleep during this. Instead of just standing there, he began to jump in place; it wasn't high jumps, really, just a slight wiggling of up-and-down motion. After a few moments, the thing got those rainbow eyes he had been told about, meaning that he had found his Rider. Just as they started that wierd whirling, another egg cracked open and revealed a minty colored Green with stripes. He grimaced, remembering what he had been told about the Green dragons. He was in no way girly or gay. Nope, no Green for him! And after the Green had Impressed, one of the gold-colored eggs (they housed Gold dragons, he had been told) were cracking threateningly. After ages and ages, the thing managed to literally leap out, leaving most of the shell absolutely fine. But that wasn't enough. No, the entire thing had to be destroyed! DESTROY IT! she seemed to be saying. She turned around and did just that. Only when it was gone did she calm down enough to look around and ask, as if she was some detective puzzling out the latest crime scene, where her rider was.

Joseph watched as the gold egg finally hatched.
Wow, she's beautiful. Someone is definitely a lucky lady he thought as the light gold dragon, with bright gold stripe from her forehead to her shoulders, turned on the mostly intact shell and absolutely obliterated it. He couldn't help but smile at that, even though the little queen was serious about the destruction of her former home, it was just adorable to watch.
She definitely isn't one to daudle. She knows what she wants, and I'm sure she knows who she wants too Joseph looked around the sands at all the female Candidates wondering which one the little queen would choose as Hers.

Gold? What gold. A Pernese girl might have felt a pang of disappointment at being claimed by a green before the queens could hatch. Miriam?
She had not even noticed, being too busy reassuring Rityth. The green was nervous about the food and she rather thought she might be nervous about most things, from the way she had almost panicked on hatching, from the way she *was*.
Rityth, though, had chosen her out of all of those there. That meant something...to Rityth if to nobody else. The green was pretty, with neck rings...and Miriam studied her some more. Perfectly formed, if the other dragons were anything to go by, with the slightly different proportions that were likely a sign of being a baby.
Miriam fed her some more of the meat, briefly glancing over to notice that one of the queens had indeed hatched, quite a bit bigger than Rityth, but not nearly as attractive in shade. Or maybe the bond forming between them was giving her rose-colored glasses.
She smiled at the thought. No matter what, nobody could take Rityth away from her. She knew and understood that now.

Alyssa watched with a smile as one of the gold eggs started to crack and finally release the hatchling within. But escaping the egg was not nearly enough for the newly hatched queen. No, she had to destroy what had been her home since she had been clutched.
The gold was a gorgeous pale gold, with a stripe of a richer gold gracing her nose down to her shoulders. She seemed to be a regal little thing, but Alyssa supposed that was why they were also known as queens...
Alyssa heard the little queen question which of the women belonged to her, and grinned slightly.
"I think you know exactly who you want," she muttered to herself, watching the gold survey the women scattered around the Sands.

The gold's head perked up, and she began to gracefully walk towards the one she knew was Hers. As the little gold was doing this, another egg was hatching. The egg resting between Isath's claws, not quite being held by the chimera but looking like it, hatched. A small hole on the top revealed a bright green head with evidence of darker green markings on her neck. She peeped, turning her head to start nawing on the egg shell, trying to free herself. It was slow going, but eventually the little green got the room to pull her foreclaws up to push at the edges of the shell. Egg shell went flying everywhere as the shell finally gave under the ministrations of the little green. She was small, even for a green, but she was pretty. There were indeed darker colored stripes, but not only on her neck. They adorned her legs and tail as well, which added an interesting contrast. With a snort and a 'hrumph', the green stalked forward. The little queen continued to make her way towards the one she had decided was Hers. Alyssa... I knew you were here, AlyssaMine. YourBrixth knew. The gold said to the one she had chosen. She came too close to Alyssa, even looking at the girl as if she were still a Candidate. Brixth was not happy. Alyssa is mine! She growled, swiping a claw at her green sister. The little green cringed, freezing in place. Brixth's claw scraped along the green's neck and across the left side of her face, catching her left eye. The green screamed in pain, moving back a few paces to get out of the way of her gold sister. She then hunkered down in the sand, calling out pitifully. Sandra, it hurts! Sandramine, make the pain go away! Green Broeth #47fb2b Stripes on legs, tail and neck of 174a0f Grumpy, Thoughtful, Hilarious Hatchling Size: 4ft Adult Size: 22ft Defect: Blind in left eye, due to injury Bonded to Sandra As the pain of the green was heard, no one noticed another egg hatch. This was the largest of the eggs, the one the Z'van had had his eye on in the beginning. Almost eagerly, the dark bronze dragonet walked across the sands, already looking for his. The bronze had lighter bronze stripes along his body. He carried himself with an eager air, showing his eagerness in the very way he looked for his. The bronze spared one moment for his green sister. The must hurt... He said sarcastically, then continued his comment. It's a shame. She was a pretty green. --- Yamina felt a little disappointed when the gold chose another. But Yamina kept her head up. There was still a gold egg left, and a little queen inside that as well. But Yamina was glad, for a moment, that she hadn't Impressed that gold as she saw what she did to the green. And already the green had chosen. A girl named Sandra, which Yamina recognized as one of the newer Candidates. Yamina was glad that the green had chosen Hers, but she was still angry that the gold would do such a thing as hurt another baby dragon... Yamina's attention was drawn elsewhere as she saw movement from the corner of her eye. Another dragonet had hatched. A pretty dark bronze. And he seemed to have some personality as well. But Yamina knew he wouldn't choose her. Again she glanced up into the stands, finding Nomics and wondering what he thought about the events of the hatching so far...

Joseph smiled as Brixth, the little queen had impressed to Alyssa. Now just one gold egg remained, he wondered who that little queen would bond to.
His thought were broken as a little green with dark green stripes along her neck, legs and tail got scratched by her gold sister. He frowned and his heart went out to the little green. That was harsh...poor thing
Yet another egg hatched, this one being a bronze. Joseph really wanted to impress a bronze, and he watched closely as it moved across the sands, sparing only a brief moment for his green sister. Sarcastic little thing, he was...Nonetheless, Joseph really wanted to impress.

There seemed to be eggs and dragons everywhere...not that it mattered to Miriam. She was glad HER green had not been slashed by another dragon, though...had the gold damaged the dragon's eye?
She fed Rityth another chunk of meat. She could not worry too much about somebody else's dragon, for her own had flinched at the attack, curling her tail around her ankle for reassurance.
"Don't worry. I won't let her...or anyone else...ever hurt you." That was part of her job, surely, to make sure nobody hurt her dragon. And vice versa...of course, once Rityth was fully grown, then nobody but a larger dragon would have the courage to mess with her, surely...even if she was going to be small for a dragon. "I promise." That was enough to stop the green from shivering again, for now, but she was going to have to learn not to be afraid.
Miriam would teach her that. She was sure of that, if nothing else.

Fear. Pain. Sandra screamed with her dragon. The new weyrling fell to her knees in anguish, clutching her eye. What was happening???
Sandra, it hurts! Sandramine, make the pain go away!
She opened her eye. She felt the pain, so real, so intense, but she realized that it was the pain of the green. Im coming! “Im coming!” She thought and then shouted. She would need bandages! Antiseptic! Sandra blundered to her feet and lurched towards the Green. Oh her poor heart! Her poor Broeth! “Im coming,” she whimpered again, tears streaming down her face. These weren’t tears of joy at the magic of being bound to another -- but of pain, sorrow and fear for her other half.
---
Z’van was still on the sands feeding his little miracle. He had lost all interest in the hatching and only spared the Gold a glance from his task when she hatched. But she grabbed his attention again when she swiped at her little sister. He frowned for a moment, then felt Ghaith reaching to him.
The little bronze had had much the same sentiment as His -- too occupied to care about anything else. He did, though, keep an eye on his Gold sister when she hatched. She was a Queen afterall! That meant he saw the whole transaction between the females. This unsettled him. Not only was it unkind, but the poor green’s eye! It made his stomach a little queasy. Mine, it’s very sad. He said with grey swirling eyes. Seeking comfort, the dragonet put his head on his Bonded’s shoulder and pressed against his cheek.
Luckily Z’van had a steady stance and was able to remain upright. He scratched the Bronze’s eye ridges and told him it would be ok, dragons could survive much worse. But he did feel sorry for the green’s weyrling. He saw her struggling through the pain and confusion to go to Hers. And he heard the other Bronze’s snarky remark. Z’van was glad he got Ghaith and not that SOB. Turning his thoughts back to his dragon, he continued to console him. And to revel in his good fortune to get the best of the clutch.
---
Nomics could see that the little Gold would be a hassle in the future. He understood what went on in the heads of dragons and candidates at a Hatching. But that simply was uncalled for. She was a queen though, so they’d have to gently get the b****yness out of her system. He grimly looked over the green from where he was. She would be ok, he thought. He looked over to Yamina, still stone faced but then saw her look back at him. His mood changed and he gave her a smile. He hoped that her dragon would be more like her.

Alyssa blinked, surprised, as the little gold came up to her. Her surprise increased tenfold when she heard Brixth's pleased purr, I knew you were here, AlyssaMine. YourBrixth knew.
"I..." Alyssa started, unsure what she wanted to say to Brixth. But then she smiled and said, "Of course I was here, Brixth. You were here."
She then went to embrace her newly bonded dragon, but a green happened to wander too close, and Brixth was not happy with her green sister. She lashed out at the poor green, catching her largely in the eye. The green scrambled away and then cringed into the sand, screaming in pain and reaching out for Hers.
Alyssa frowned slightly, pulling Brixth's head around to face her, kneeling down on the hot sand. "Brixth, you didn't have to do that. I am Yours alone. Your green sister was only looking for Hers and I'm sure she knew I was Yours," she scolded.
But she was unable to remain angry at the little queen. She was only defending what she thought was in danger. Alyssa sighed and rubbed Brixth's eyeridge, staring into the faceted eyes. However, Brixth wasn't ready to be appeased after being scolded, and bumped forcefully against Alyssa's chest, knocking her off her knees and onto her rump. The little queen snorted at Hers unhappily, then came close and nuzzled the confused weyrling.
I'm sorry, AlyssaMine, but she came too close. She looked at you like you could be Hers...

Healers and doctors came into the sands, but stopped a few feet away from the group of Candidates. They didn't dare get any closer; they didn't want to run the chance of Isath's rage. Or stealing a dragonet from one of the Candidates. The head Healer called over to the girl next to the injured green. "Sandra, can you get her to come this way? We can't approach that closely to the clutch..." He said. The bronze dragonet was still pacing the sands, looking at all the boys gathered around. There were plenty to choose from, but he was looking for something different about them. And none of them had yet to show him it. He growled to himself, growing a bit impatient. And as the bronze was pacing the sands, another egg hatched. It's hatching was even more quiet than the bronze. In fact, no one would have noticed it had it not been for Isath lowering her head and nudging the little dragonet towards the Candidates. The hatchling, an even medium blue, looked around the sands at those gathered. He lifted his head up, in a way that seemed charming, and then headed for one Candidate standing on his own. J'arg! Kertympumth has found you. The hatchling broadcast as it approached the Pernese boy that he had chosen. Blue Kertympumth #0a77c5 Charming, Tough, Mysterious Hatchling Size: 4ft Adult Size: 29ft Bonded to J'arg (Jamargon) (ANPC)--- Yamina watched the Healers and doctors swarm the sands, and she moved out of the way. She didn't want to be in the way when they started helping the little green... She noticed a blue hatch, and she almost grew tired. There were so many of the lower colors, one might choose her before the other queen had a chance to hatch! Yamina shivered a little at the thought. She didn't want to be claimed by any but the queen. But after watching the happiness of Impression with the other Candidates... Yamina knew she wouldn't deny any dragonet that decided her worthy. Even if it was a blue...

All I want to do is comfort her... Joseph thought as he watched Sandra struggle to help Hers. But he quickly got rid of the thought, Really man? Really? Dragons first, ladies later!
His attention was averted however to the bronze that still roamed the sands, looking for his. He seemed to be getting annoyed that he couldn't find His there. Was His late? Or not there?
Again, Joseph's attention was averted back to the little queen, who'd pushed Hers onto her butt. Poor Alyssa...that queen needs an attitude adjustment... If not for the color of the next dragon, Joseph would never had noticed that it'd hatched. It was a gorgeous even blue and Joseph couldn't help but smile as he almost instantly found His. Jamargon was someone Joseph did not know, much like everyone here on Rocky, but that didn't stop him from being happy for the other Candidates. He hoped they would be as happy for him if...
No not if, when he impressed.

Hunter Cantrell Hunter grinned as the Gold walked pruposefully toward a girl as she stood alone, smiling to herself. She didn't know, at first anyway, that the Gold had already chosen. Her. But he supposed the poor Green didn't know either, and she got a little teeny weeny bit close. And the other didn't like that one bit. With a screech of pain that made the teenager himself cringe, the Green lurched back and cowered as bright ichor seeped from wounds across one side of her head. Another girl was lurching toward her, pain etched across her face as she felt whatever is is a rider feels when thier dragon gets hurt like that. Hunter took a step forward, for all intents and purposes going to go help the thing get away, but relaxed when some doctorly looking people started helping her out. No need for him; what would he do anyway? He would instead watch that nice looking dragon look at everyone. He was funny. Hunter hadn't really paid attention when he hatched; he had been too focused on the screaming Green and girl. But now that they were getting help, he could pay attention to the sarcasm of the quiet but sure guy. Because he was definately a guy. And judging from the reaction of a girl or two, he was a Bronze. A very pretty Bronze. That must hurt... He had said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. It's a shame. She was a pretty green. He watched as the Bronze walked around, carefully examining each Candidate before moving to the next. He was getting fairly exasperated and impatient from the looks of it. He spared a glance toward a Blue, but a glance was all he really needed. It looked as if he had already chosen a Candidate: a poor guy standing alone not so far away. He hadn't even noticed the guy.
J'arg of Blue Kertympumth
Jamargon would be honest. He cared about Impressing a dragonet. he was worried he wouldn't. But no one, and he meant no one, knew that if they didn't know him very, very well. The dark haired, olive skinned boy was within his last year or two of being allowed on the Sands, and he would be very upset if he wasn't going to be allowed to be a dragonman. But if anyonw new ever asked him, he'd just say something mysterious that he wouldn't think of beforehand and would just blurt out. J'arg! Kertympumth has found you. He'd be truthful if anyone ever asked him a direct question about what his reaction was. It surprised the hell out of him when the Blue hatched and came striding up. He stared until the Blue swelled up and head butted his chest. Sitting on his butt, the newly made dragonman could only look up and stare a little more before breaking out in an exuburant smile and gave a bear hug to the now surprised Blue.

A movement out of the corner of the bronze's eye caught his attention. He looked over, noticing a boy standing with the main group. With a cry of happiness, the bronze headed towards him. Huntermine! I've found you. The bronze cried. Bronze Edgardoth #4b4005 Stripes of 796e2e Sarcastic, Eager, Romantic Hatchling Size: 6ft Adult Size: 38ft Bonded to HunterJust as the second bronze of the clutch Impressed, another bronze hatched onto the sands. This bronze had hatched from his egg with a showering of shells, and pranced around the sands as if he was eager to feel the heat of the sands under his claws. His hide was a gorgeous medium bronze and he had a helmet mark on his head of a slight darker bronze. Mine is here somewhere! He called out, still prancing about the sands. Just as the bronze was prancing about the sands, another egg began to crack. It was shaking steadily, and the cracks were increasing evenly. Finally one of the cracks split wide enough for another blue to climb out. This blue was a purplish blue in color with darker purplish blue and lighter purplish blue patches. The blue looked around the sands with a draconic grin on its face. Then, with confidenece evident in every step, he walked forward to a boy standing between two girls. You're mine, D'ast. The blue said confidently. The dragonet within was working slowly at the egg, but it was shaking enthusiastically. The two girls that had been standing to either side of the newly dubbed D'ast watched the egg, wondering what it would hatch. Saquaisha and Carrina, both Pernese Candidates, watched the egg intently. When it finally did hatch they smiled. Another green stood on the sands, laying in the remains of her egg, and looking around with sulky whirling eyes. However, when she locked her eyes on the two girls, they turned from a light yellow to rainbow swirls, tinged mostly with blue. Saquaishamine... The green purred. Green Vhath #32cf4f Forgetful, Sulky but with moments of Enthusiaism Hatchling Size: 4ft Adult Size: 25ft Bonded to Saquaisha (ANPC)The second gold egg began to shake. Small peices of shell flaked off. The entire attention of the Weyr was turned to the egg. When would it hatch...? --- Yamina smiled as the bronze Impressed. Then another bronze hatched! How many bronzes would there be in such a small clutch? She couldn't even begin to guess. But she had noticed the strange lack of browns... Another blue hatched and Impressed, as did another green. She smiled at the new weyrling pairs. Her attention went to the clutch. There were only two more eggs left, including the coveted gold egg. Which was now beginning to shake and crack! Yamina held her breath. She was one of three girls left on the sands, one of them a Pernese candidate. What were the chances that the little queen would choose her...? Yamina looked back at the crowd, searching for Nomics. So far everytime she had seen him he had been smiling. Would he still be smiling now? Would he hope she got the queen egg? Yamina turned back to the clutch, her attention focused on the gold egg. She was one of three girls left. And only two eggs, with only four candidates left standing...

Joseph watched as one after another eggs started hatching, Wow, they're hatching like crazy. A second bronze, another blue and and another green all hatched, one after the other and Impressed rather quickly. He was happy for the Candidates. But now there were four Candidates left on the sand, and only two eggs left to hatch, one of which was the second queen. There also was yet another bronze on the sands, searching for His.
Am I yours? Joseph thought. He really wanted to Impress a bronze. His eyes remained on the bronze, now ignoring the last queen egg and it's sibling. He even ignored the ladies now. All his attention was on that one bronze roaming the sands in search of His.
I hope I'm yours...

More dragons hatching quickly as Miriam reassured Rityth...the green finally beginning to relax. She would have to talk to the experienced riders about ways to calm nervous dragons. Unless, of course, the hatchling grew out of it.
A blue with what seemed to be pink patches on it...a bronze male with stripes and a green who would have struck her as utterly gorgeous were she not up against Rityth. They were all absolutely gorgeous...but it was Rityth who had chosen her, had determined that she was meant to be here in a very final manner.
Who would the bronze choose? There weren't many Candidates left...had she not had Rityth she would have hoped for that second gold that was about to hatch. But she was glad of Rityth...no dragon could be better than her green.
As if catching her thoughts, Rityth purred softly, a sound somewhere between a bird and a cat.

Candidate Alexandra
Alex had watched all of what had happened with great interest. For all the confidence of her outer persona, she was just as nervous and excited as any of the younger folks around her. With her twenty five years of life, she suspected she was one of, if not the, oldest folks on the sands. She had never thought to enquire as to if they had an age limit on standing, a point at which one was considered too old to impress a dragon. Looking at the various youngsters around her, she was starting to wonder.
She had never actually seen a dragon hatching. As her grey eyes locked on the rocking eggs, she wondered how different a dragon hatching would be to the firelizard hatching she had attended, or to Keero's hatching. What exactly was it that dragon's looked for? She'd heard that, one their home planet, there were special dragons who picked out those with the potential to become riders. She'd just been sent here because she'd found Keero's egg.
The first egg to crack produced a bronze, a cute little guy would probably prove to be handsome, at least as far as dragon's went, when he was older. She hadn't really seen too much of the weyr's adult bronze population, just the red coloured Gorth, but this little lad was far more like what all her information said a bronze should be coloured. Unsurprisingly, she went and picked out one of the males.
Next a little green. A sweet pale thing with her vivid green rings. As Alex watched the green wander the sands, her heart went out to it, with it's pitiful sounding creeling as it looked for it's rider. The doctor smiled as the green found her chosen human, seemingly happy now that she had a rider.
Once more her attention returned to the eggs, only to find herself having to step back to avoid bits of flying eggshell as one of the golden eggs shook vigorously. Alexandra had been told that even a single gold egg was highly coveted because it was rare for the to be produced, and that two was unheard of. Like so many of the other female candidates, Alex was anxious about what was inside those eggs. Supposedly gold's only chose women, and were the most picky colour about which women they chose.
The egg produced a pretty light gold, with a darker yellow stripe down the back of her neck. As the little gold, Alex recalled her colour also being called queens, walked the sands, another egg hatched, a brightly coloured green striped with a dark forest green colour, also made her way into the world.
Alex watched them find their riders, and felt a little twinge of disappointment as she was passed over by the hatchlings in favour of some of the other females on the sands. For a moment she was going to move over to the green, see if there was anything she could do to help her after being attacked by the gold. But there were other doctors already there, doctors who knew far more about dragons and their care than she did. Sometimes, Alex wondered if what they really needed was a vet, rather than a bunch of doctors.
Busy watching the two females, Alexandra had missed the hatching of a second bronze, a handsome fellow, his dark hide marked with a lighter shade. Before he found his rider however, it was a medium blue shaded creature, his hide not baring a single marking, who found a rider in one of the boys who'd arrived on dragon back. Alex assumed that the lad was one of the pernese candidates.
Moments after the blue's impression, the bronze found his rider. He was swiftly followed by a patched purplish coloured dragon, whom Alexandra assumed must be a 'blue' since she didn't recall any descriptions of dragons which regularly came in purple. The a green, her hide as plain as the earlier unmarked blue. She picked out a girl next to the boy who'd impressed the purple-blue.
A soft sound from one of the other girls, drew Alexandra's attention back to the clutch, and the way the second gold egg was starting to show signs of being close to hatching. She glanced over the other candidates. There were five of them left now, herself an two other girls, and two boys. Five candidates for two regular eggs, and one queen egg. There was still a chance that she would be found worthy by a dragon. A one in three chance that the queen would find her to be the one who was worthy. And still a chance that one of the other eggs would contain a dragon who would want her as their rider.

The bronze looked over at one of the two boys left, his attention grabbed at the thoughts of one of them. With eagerness the bronze hurried over to stand directly in front of the two boys. His head swung between them before he headed to the right. He pushed his head into the boy's chest, rubbing like a cat would. J'sephmine... The bronze crooned. Bronze Qaeth #7a6203 Helmet of #4d4009 Eager, Helpful, Vague Hatchling Size: 6ft Adult Size: 39ft Bonded to J'seph (Joseph)Just as the bronze had Impressed, the second gold egg slowly cracked open. A hole near the bottom of the egg had appeared, and from there the little queen was pulling herself out. She was a gorgeous gold color but with a darker gold head, neck and tail. Finally out of her egg, the gold stood up, flaring her wings slowly to allow them to dry. She lifted her head proudly as she looked around the sands. There were so few left, she noticed. But it didn't matter. She had already decided which of these girls was hers. Lifting her tail, so it would not drag the ground, the little queen started toward the group of girls. The last egg gave a violent shudder before it split diagonally, spilling a pretty green without markings onto the sands. The green got to her feet, immadiately seeing her gold sister heading for the small group of girls. The green headed forward, keeping her eyes locked on one girl. When she reached the girl she looked up at her. Alexandriamine! Look at your Toytaymuth. I am far prettier than any gold! Green Toytaymuth #68a05f Selfish, Arrogant, Materialistic Hatching Size: 3ft Adult Size: 24ft Bonded to Alexandria--- Yamina watched the little gold closely. So closely, in fact, that she didn't notice the green that had hatched and bonded to one of the other two girls. Yamina had eyes only for that gold. And what a gold! She walked around with such pride, yet she also managed to be enchanting. Atleast, she was enchanting to Yamina. But perhaps all golds were enchanting...? Yamina shook her head. The other gold, who had bonded to that one girl, wasn't enchanting. She was just mean. Yamina hoped whatever dragon chose her wasn't like that... Yamina smiled when she saw the gold heading for the group where the two remaining girls stood. Yamina had noticed the third girl, and the only remaining boy, leave the main area of the sands. The gold had a very limited selection. She could only choose between two girls. On Pern they provided many more girls for the little queens... Come on... Pick, little one... she chanted silently.

Joseph...No J'seph blinked as his bronze, his Qaeth rubbed against his chest like a cat. "I'm here, Qaeth," he finally said as he rubbed the bronze's eye ridges gently. This is what he'd been waiting for, that bonding feeling. He was so engrossed in his Qaeth that he didn't notice that another green and the second queen had hatched. He wasn't even interested in the girls on the sands at this point, he was just glad that his Qaeth had found him.

When Sandra finally got to her dragon, she fell to her knees and gently tried to look at the injury. The neck wasn’t so bad but her eye was definitely severely damaged. A gunky fluid slowly oozed out and mixed with the blood from the scratch, making a truly gruesome scene. The Weyrling had to fight hard to keep from vomiting from the shock and sheer grossness of it. But fight she did so as not to distress her dragon further.
Stirring again from her stupor at Sandra’s touch, Broeth let herself be looked at by Hers. SandraHeart, you’re here. Please make it stop. the little green mewled sadly as she sat there next to her Bonded.
The girl then saw from the corner of her eye a group of medics a little ways away. Why didn’t they come to her? She thought with a hint of anger. Then one of the men called to her,
"Sandra, can you get her to come this way? We can't approach that closely to the clutch..."
The new Weyrling would certainly try. “My Broeth, I can make the hurt go away, but you have to follow me to the doctors. They’ll make it all better.” Ok, I will try, she responded. Gently coaxing the green to her feet, Sandra got up and led her away from the group of candidates and hatchlings. They reached the band of medics and as soon as they did, they were swarmed. They assessed the situation, made a temporary bandage, and moved the little dragon onto a stretcher-like thing so they could easily move her to the infirmary. All the while they instructed Sandra to keep her dragon calm and quiet while they worked. Finally, when they were all ready to move to proper facilities, they told they Weyrwoman they would keep her updated and moved out with the dragon - weyrling in tow.

Nomics nearly stood in his seat when he saw the second Gold egg hatch. If Yamina was chosen then in but a year he might be able to fly her, and he knew they would both like that very much. But there was still another candidate, a fellow pernese. His eyes darted between the three as he wondered what would happen next. As the Queen pranced about the sands, he hoped desperately that she would go with Yamina.

She had already chosen which of the two remaining girls was hers. She was only taking her time getting there. She didn't want to hurry over there, not on such hot sands and with so many pieces of hardened shell around. She was certain that she would not injure herself. The little gold finally reached the two girl, and turned her head to the right. Yaminamine, I am hungry. The gold said to the girl she was looking at. Gold Proudeth #ecd94d Head, neck and tail of E0C605 Abrasive, Enchanting, Proud Hatchling Size: 8ft Adult Size: 42ft Bonded to Yamina--- Yamina watched the gold walk up to her, look at her, and then speak to her. Yamina grinned happily, tears brimming and falling as she looked down at her dragonet. Kneeling down in front of the gold, Proudeth, Yamina wrapped her arms around her slight darker neck and hugged her close. "Of course, Proudeth. We can go get you something to eat." She muttered to the dragonet. Yamina stood, leading Proudeth off the sands and towards the chopped meat. She glanced up into the stands, found Nomics, and gave him a bright smile. Yamina had never been happier than she was today. And she hoped Nomics was happy for her too.

J'seph looked up as did Qaeth. They watched the newly hatched queen as she took her time to get across the sands and when she did make it, she already knew who she wanted. Yamina.
J'seph was happy for Yamina, he had seen her in passing and knew that she was with another...Nomics he thought the man's name was. Qaeth nudged J'seph, "What is is Qaeth?" He waited for his dragonet to respond but got nothing out of him, "What is it?" he repeated. Then it dawned on him, he hadn't given his bronze any meat to eat!
Qaeth followed His as he darted for the meat, Thank you J'sephMine. Your Qaeth's middle felt empty.
"I know Qaeth, I'm sorry."
It's okay, J'sephMine. I'm not upset. I feel much better now with meat in my middle
