Appearance: Xander stands at a short 5’ 3” and his eyes always seem to have a bored look to them. His hair parts to the right side and is sometimes pulled back into a short pony tail. He prefers to wear a lot of jeans and zip up sweatshirts. Coming down from behind his right ear to almost his collar bone is a tattoo of stars of various sizes.

History: Xander was born in the outskirts of Tamano, not far from the sea, to a family of five with himself being the youngest boy. The family was close knit, but his mother and father were mildly abusive towards Xander whenever he got in trouble often leaving bruises on his skin. When Xander was in elementary school he began leaving school with his mother and going to the beach to play on occasion (Age seven). These trips to the ocean often led to Xander getting into more trouble, at age eleven Xander stopped going to the ocean in hopes to avoid more punishment; the abuse continued.
When Xander was in lower secondary school (Age 13) his father was diagnosed with lung cancer, bringing an end to the abuse and drawing the bond between Xander and his family back together. The months his father was still around were difficult and painful for the whole family. After his father passed in his last year of lower secondary school, Xander (Age 14) became a silent boy busying himself in his school work drifting away from all his friends.
His upper secondary school years were spent studying and visiting the beach for hours, it was during this time he met Alex. The two began dating in their second (Age 17 ) year and finally broke up after an awful fight in the first semester of their last year(Age 18). Xander was heart broken and began spending even more time down at the beach. His brother and sister often joined him engaging their brother in games of tag and volleyball. Their mother worked hard to support the children and send them to university.
The habit of spending time at the beach did not change when Xander entered university in the fall of 2006 (Age 18), it was during his third (Age 20) year he discovered something strange on the beach near one of the little patches of rocks while having lunch. It looked almost like a nest,…with a solitary egg left in it among the rest of the shattered shells. Thinking the egg was a dud, Xander moved to pick it up to bury it out of kindness for the animal…, but when he got close close…something seemed to be trying to push its way out of the egg, but had been going at it from the wrong end. Xander rolled the egg so the bottom was now the left side and watched as a small green lizard like animal worked its way out of the egg. Hearing its cries for food Xander quickly fed it the left over steak and gasped when he saw the swirling eyes looking up at him. Xander did not know what to make of the creature and smuggled it back to his apartment, the next hour the animal was given the name York. The little animal became a good companion to the boy and it was not long before a strange man showed up at the apartment introducing himself. Xander was reluctant to speak to the man, but when he mentioned he knew about the flit on the beach Xander let him in. The man spoke of Pern and Dragons….Xander couldn’t help himself and he went with the man to Pern by dragon back bringing green York with him.
The boy spent time studying until he was ready to stand before a dragon clutch as a candidate (Age 21). It was at this hatching Xander, now X’an, impressed a brown dragon hatchling named Gregorth. The pair became fast friends, but Gregorth seemed to have trouble avoiding objects in front of him as he walked. He would ask why the table looked fuzzy and also say he had what he called farclear nearfuzzy vision. X’an was worried about Gregorth, taking him to the infirmary, the young dragon was diagnosed with Hyperopia. This defect caused the pair to be sent to Rocky Weyr where they completed the training to be a full rider and dragon pair (Age 23) during this time Xander also impressed Wave a blue fire lizard (Age 22). The pair intends to move to Isle Weyr to be closer to X’an’s homeland, Japan.
