Name: Amelia, called Amy
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
(Possibly swayed, but so far Tardith has flown only once, and he lost.)
Appearance: Of a rather bland unimpressive height, fits in on the average scale, not tall or short. She's not particularly pale, but her bright coppery ginger hair sets off her complexion, as do her grey/green/blue eyes.
She is of a slightly thin body type, but there is no calling her skinny, nor is there any way to assume she does not look like a girl. In fact, she flaunts the fact that she's one of the girlier types out there, and she is always changing her wardrobe around. She tries to keep up with modern fashion on Pern, but Earth has opened a whole new door into the crazy.
She is almost always smiling, though it when she changes from a smile to a devious 'I am thinking of something you aren't going to like' smirk, be worried. She is mischievous, headstrong, and very irritating to people who would rather she just calm down and be a good girl. She's sometimes cynical, always feisty, with a wicked sense of humor and a short temper, but that short temper always just inspires her to find ways around her problems when others would rather wait. Still, despite everything and all her attempts to act like a serious 'grown-up' woman, on the inside, she's still the little girl who saw dragons on her seventh birthday and swore she would wait forever until she could meet one for real.

History: Amelia (almost always called Amy) was born in a small fishing hold, but the loss of her parents caused her to be relocated to live with her Aunt in an in land settlement of mostly runner breeders and herdbeast raisers. She was never particularly unhappy living there, and she had friends enough for a little girl to play with.
One night, when she was seven, she was wishing for a good clear day for some adventure she had planned for the morning when she heard a strange noise. She, like most seven year old girls would ran outside to see what was going on. And found a man sitting on the ground, soaking wet, and looking extremely annoyed. Behind him was a large blue shadow that appeared to be contemplating her herdbeasts.
The man jumped up when he saw Amelia, grinning and asking her if she wouldn't mind getting him something to eat, as he'd been flying thread all day at Southern and had then moved on to sweeping the coast here for wayward thread clumps that may have been brought in by the horrible winds they'd been having and now he was starving and Smith -here the dragon made a growl to indicate that was him- had decided they would stop because he -the rider not the dragon- was starting to feel strange and Smith had spotted the herdbeasts and landed here.
Amelia just looked confused, mostly because that explanation had been all one sentence. And she still didn't know why he was wet. The rider- who introduced himself as J'on- explained that Smith had gotten annoyed with his protests that they rest and unceremoniously dumped him in Amelia's back pond. Amy just looked up at the dragon who looked incredibly smug, and laughed. So she brought J'on in, and made him dinner- her aunt was out at another hold for a gather that night- and he told her all sorts of stories.
Amy found herself fascinated by the tales of the noble riders and the wondrous dragons who protected their world. And when Smith even spoke directly to her to tell her she was very kind for helping his J'on, and allowed her to hug his muzzle [though he was a little surprised when she did so.] she knew she would always be in love with dragons.
When J'on finally left, she begged them to take her to a Weyr and away from the boring life of a Runner-trainer, but he said he couldn't because there were no clutches and she was far too young anyways. He did say that he [and Smith] liked her and though she might do well at a Weyr and to watch for the searchdragons when she was older.
Unfortunately none ever came for her. Years passed, and though every time searchriders came to her town she was never chosen, Amelia [she stopped using the name Amy when she felt it was too 'Juvenile'] held on to hope. That is until she was told by a searchrider that she was unlikely to be chosen ever.
She became rather dejected and a tiny bit bitter about the whole thing until one day her oldest childhood friend Rory returned to the settlement to visit his family after he'd completed his healer apprenticeship. She quickly fell into her normal camaraderie with him just like old times. She was even shocked to find he'd brought her a present- a firelizard egg! Since Rory had some time before he was require to return to the Healer Hall to continue his studies, he helped her care for the egg. As a joke, and as a tribute to her friend [though very quickly they were becoming much more] Amelia named the flitter 'Doctor'.
By the time Rory returned to the Healers hall, Amelia and he were a definite couple. They continued to see each other when they could and it wasn't very long before Rory proposed to her. She gleefully accepted. Doctor threw dirt at them as a congratulations.
As an engagement present and to celebrate Rory's approval to be stationed at Igen Weyr as a full time Healer for them he took Amelia to see the hatching of the Queen at Igen the night before they were to be married. Amelia was ecstatic, especially when she found a familiar [if older] face in the crowd. J'on and Smith greeted her warmly after she bounced up to them [yelling once at them for never returning to visit] and told her they had a good feeling about this hatching. Smith just looked very smug again and kept an eye on Amelia. No one heard his side comment to J'on that 'This would be interesting'.
Amelia was as enthralled as all the other spectators as the hatchlings found their life partners, and the gold hatchling completely ignored the three Holdborn girls and two riderborn ones to choose hers- a farmer's daughter from one of Ruatha's outlying holds. When the thirteen-year-old girl began to sob quietly, Amelia even cried slightly.
It was then she heard a commanding and incredibly impatient voice calling her childhood nickname.
Amy! Ammmmmyyyyy!
Amelia glanced around, not sure if it was someone she knew or if maybe doctor [the silly flit] had done something again. The voice called to her again.
AMELIA I AM TALKING TO YOU.
Amelia was utterly confused now. She looked around wondering if anyone else could be hearing this.
You humans are so thick. Oh wait. I haven't come out. I think my timing is off. I do not think I am finished yet. Hold on. I'll be right there for you, Amy. Trust me.
That's when an oblong egg to the side of the sands began to rock back and forth rhythmically. All of a sudden the egg lurched forward, shattering in an explosion of eggshell shards and sending a brilliant blue hatchling tumbling out onto the sands. The crowd gasped, but Amelia was distracted by trying to find her mysterious friend.
Much better. OH. Legs. I have legs!
"What?" Amelia was concerned by that turn of phrase.
Never mind. Amy! Yes. Amy. My Amy. My wonderful beautiful beloved mineAmy. Amy!
"Belo- what?" Amy glanced around, standing up now and shouting at the crowd.
Do sit down. You look silly. No. Wait. Look silly. But do not sit down. Come down here. Quickly! I need you.
"Who are you? What do you want?! Why should I listen to you?"
Because it will change your life. Silly girl. I am your Tardith. And I want you to feed me.
Amy sat back down abruptly, stunned and staring.
Noooo, I said DO NOT sit down. What are you doing?
In the sands the little blue was licking his paws and watching her as his eyes shone with rainbow colors.
Amelia stared and as if sleepwalking she made her way down to the sands. She never heard Rory shouting at her or the others speaking around her. She was too busy with her dragon; now that she had found him she began to wonder why she had ever given up on finding him all those years ago. Obviously the searchriders had to have been wrong, because there was no way this perfect moment could ever not have happened. Tardith was there and he was hers and she knew he always would be. Tardith scrambled over to her and licked tears of joy off her face patiently.
There. You see? You are myAmy. You are my wonderful beautiful smart clever Amy. The girl who waited.

It wasn't long after that Amy was stationed at Igen, but as her weyrling training passed by, Tardith's interesting little issue with time was discovered, and they were sent to Rocky not long after the blue was fully mature.
Dragon Name: Tardith
Dragon Color: Blue [324276]
Age/Birthdate: 3 years old. DOB Midspring 2008
Dragon Defect/Injury: Slight problems involving timing. Literally. Not that he can't between through time, but rather, he is incapable of betweening without timing at least some.
(Best-case scenario? He's ten minutes late or early. Worst so far? Six months. Long story, don't ask, but it makes it hard to dodge thread during fall if you've no idea *when* you're going to end up. Also, try just attempting a simple jump to another weyr and ending up three weeks in the past during a threadfall. Not fun.)
Tardith was born not with damaged headknobs, not even ones that were surprisingly short but with headknobs far longer than any of his brothers or sisters. They almost give him the appearance of having horns. Someone with far more knowledge of dragons told Amy that the length increased his sensitivity to the flow of time around him but the sensitivity affected his ability to accurately control his location in time while he was between (like he was always being pushed by the time currents with no control of where he would be swept to.). It was told to both rider and dragon that there was very likely little way to fix the problem.
[Tardith also has a thing for tasting things, but when he does so, he can usually very accurately tell how old they are. He says he can taste time on things, whatever that actually means. It was guessed that he has a very good sense of time itself, but that when he attempts to move through it things change.]
Transfered because it was driving Tardith mad not to be able to fight his greatest foe and it was cruel to keep him locked inside during thread. But he couldn't safely between without timing it, and it was too unpredictable and he accidentally betweened into another rider and severely injured both riders and both dragons; Tardith was banned from betweening at all, therefore no threadfall as he was unable to escape fast enough with only his wings and skills. (Though he's quite agile anyway.)
Firelizard Name: Doctor
Firelizard Color: Blue
Age/Birthdate: 5 years. DOB Early fall 2006
Doctor is very silly, and very distracted. He is bouncy and wild and flittery and loves to inspect absolutely everything. He adores helping people even if he only makes the situation worse.
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
