Appearance: Leirona has long black hair and pale blue eyes. Her skin in somewhat fair, but yet slightly darker than fair at the same time. She has a mole just over the left side of her top lip. Her teeth are bright and shiny. She tends to wear male clothing most of the time as she is somewhat androgynous.

History: Leirona was born to two Holders, Farodan and Leirana. She is an only child, a rarity on Pern. She was born in Fort Hold. She never took up a Craft, because she never wanted to. Leirona grew up with a few friends, most of them as much of a tomboy as herself. When she became 17 Turns old, she was picked up on search by a delightful blue. A queen had clutched at Fort, and she hoped to Impress. She did Impress but to a dragon no one expected. A very pale brown Hatched, and immediately made his way to her. The little dragonet knew exactly what he wanted, and it was her. His eyes lit up with rainbows as he stared into her eyes. He spoke shortly after. Oh Leirona! Balderth is so glad he's found you!
Life went smoothly and as it should be for Leirona and Balderth, outside of the occasional taunt about Leirona impressing a Brown. Things were good up until Balderth became 1 Turn old. The problems began then. Balderth had been having a peaceful day flying when all of a sudden a vicious storm brewed. The young brown panicked while trying to get back to Leirona before the storm got worse. Fortunately for him, the lightning never struck him. He banked too sharply after he dodged the second bolt. He was thrown off balance and spiraled downward towards the soil. He tried to correct himself. It wasn't enough,unfortunately, as the brown had landed on the ground hard, smacking his head on a rock. At first, he seemed okay. The real issues didn't start until a few weeks after that fateful day. Balderth didn't seem to respond to his name like he had been before. Leirona became worried. She asked her lifemate who he was, if not her beloved Balderth. The usually calm brown snapped in a fit of unruly anger. I am NOT Balderth! I am Odinth! Can't you tell the difference? And stop saying I'm a Brown. I'm every bit the bronze I should be!
It got worse as time went on. Odinth may have been the first of his "separate selves" but there were more in hiding. Soon he began to think of himself as Green Idunnth and then Blue Fenristh. Idunnth came around shortly after she received news her mother had died by being caught out in Threadfall. Leirona liked Idunnth, but not as much as the original Balderth. After watching Balderth get forced out of the air by and older and bigger brown in a green flight, she knew that a bad change was coming. She was right, as Fenristh was a handful of a identity. She still has various hidden scars from this encounter.
Balderth had noticed his lifemate becoming increasingly sadder as he got older. He reacted to this depression in a way that might have only made things worse, if not for one simple fact. Heimdallth was the identity "born" to inform his precious rider when his personality was about to change. Heimdallth also kept peace between the other identities as Balderth slept, so Leirona's dreams would not be affected.
Leirona was glad for Heimdallth in more ways than one, especially when the fifth and final identity split was made. Balderth had been teased by older dragons one day, having been called a "mistake" and a "freak". Lokith spawned in his mind that day, and the "blue" was set on exacting his revenge through pranks and other devious acts. Lokith wore Leirona out more than Fenristh did.
By the time he was 3 Turns old, he had formed five "seperate selves" all with different names. Leirona came to Weyrleader N'ton after Balderth became distracted during Threadfall. He barely survived it. He sent the pair to Rocky to be checked out. The doctors on Earth confirmed that Balderth had a severe case of Dissociative Identity Disorder. They remained on Earth. Leirona was certain that Balderth would not make it on Pern.

History of Balderth's Defect: Of Balderth's 5 different personas, Odinth is the most unbearable, and is proud to be the "first". The "bronze" is haughty and brash, and thinks everyone should listen to him. Take care crossing paths with Balderth when Odinth is in control. His "second" persona is "green" Idunnth. This persona came about after Leirona heard that her mother had died during Threadfall."She" is always happy and cheerful, always trying to be generous. This is the best persona to run across, aside from the calm Balderth. "Blue" Fenristh is the "third" identity Balderth responds to.Fenristh was "born" after Balderth had been forced out of the sky by and older Brown during a green flight. He is the exact opposite of normal blues, being violent and cunning. He likes to make loud and scary noises at other people while inhabiting Balderth.
"Blue" Heimdallth keeps a peaceful vigil over Balderth's tumultuous mind, watching to see if any deviant identity is about to take over.Heimdallth came into existence after Balderth observed his lifemate's frustration over not knowing which "dragon" she was speaking to. Heimdallth is the one to warn Leirona of any sudden changes in Balderth's mind. He is mostly a subconscious identity, only coming forth when he has to. "Blue" Lokith is a prankster. Lokith came about after some other dragons were exceptionally rude to him. Lokith is all about revenge. He is very cunning, and sneaky. This is the main identity Heimdallth watches for.
Appearance: Balderth is a pale, almost fleshy colored Brown. Don't let his light coloring trick you into believing he is weak, as he is anything but weak. This behemoth of a brown is 33 ft long from nose tip to tail tip, is 7.5 ft tall, and has wingspan of 55 ft. Balderth is so muscular, he'd be compared to what Earth people call "ripped." You can see them rippling effortlessly beneath his hide, giving him a catlike grace.
