So, we're always needing to come up with new defects for whers and dragons coming to Rocky. While me and Faizah do our best to come up with things, I know you guys have plenty of ideas too!
This thread is so that you can suggest defects for future characters, and to have a discussion with the other members about defects, determining which ones would be worthy of sending a dragon/wher to Rocky.
Any ideas? :3

I had thought of using narcolepsy on Raynith, but I forgot about it.

Wow, Sadism is an interesting one. :o As for the others, I could have sworn we had some of those on dragons already.. /memoryfail Oh that reminds me.. I need to update the defect list. -nod nod-
EDIT: List edited. Maybe I had only been talking to you about OCD and narcolepsy, Phyr. xD

Um. Blood disease? Flesh-eating disease. (Jk. Mostly.)
We've overdone blindness at this point, I think. Unless you find new ways of doing it?
OH. Diabetes. Er...Rheumatoid Arthritis? It'd basically cripple a dragon, and make any movement difficult without a lot of surgery. Not fun. Allergies- like, severe. To, maybe Wherry dander? Hypochondria? Sexual disorders? (Orveractive hormones making a green/gold proddy ALL THE TIME?) Schizophrenia of the 'Seeing things that aren't there' type? Sociopathia? Agoraphobia? (Never leaves the weyr?) Anemia? (I think that's been done...) Needing continual blood transfusions? We could go back to the hydra like that 2-headed blue was... Twin dragons on one human? Twin humans on one dragon? I'd say missing limbs, but that would apply better to older rider-transfers...(like, threadfall injury)
Um. Yeah.

-makes a face- I had planned on bringing in a dragon or a wher (leaning toward dragon) who's so sadistic, he/she was getting hard to control. It's history involved deliberately forcing a dragon into threadfall... >_> I felt like I had too many tolerant draggies. But like, I was going to bring him/her in later. Hurf. |D
For whers, I was thinking a muscle weakness. Or even for dragons, but with a dragon they could just sub out in threadfall if they got too tired. Kinda works a bit better with whers.

Why sad face? D: You can still use it.

Bah, tis not a sad face. More like annoyed face that someone mentioned it before I could get around to posting that character. |D I know I can still use it, and I still plan to. I had an awesome idea for him/her.. Haven't really decided yet.

I'm thinking of just earsing the fact the NOSM was here, and giving out the draggies to others. Maybe a Candidate or something. We could do the whole 2-headed thing with a Wher as well. That would be awesome.

A two-headed wher would be like... Incredibly protective of itself and it's handler. Wouldn't that be interesting...? But why not? It was an interesting idea for a defect. Why not have a limit of two uses per defect..? Sort of like the color limits we have now. Of course, there isn't a list of defects that one can or can't use. If one is used, it gets put on the list. Then it can only be used once again. Or something.
So I was being a creeper on non-weyrs, and came up with a few defects.
Loss of muscles--basically the dragon is skin and bones. Goes along with the muscle weakness I mentioned before. Extra limbs--like a fifth leg growing out of it's back, etc. This might have to be something big to effectively be a need for a transfer. Lack of limbs--to the extreme. This includes the loss of two or more limbs, not just one. Basically an undeveloped dragon. Elonverrilth to the extreme Undeveloped dragon embryo--this happened with a gold on Achelliath Weyr. A severely malformed gold hatched, and bonded to a candidate. I don't know how to describe it.
I can link you all to the hatching that gave me these ideas, if you want to see/read a few for yourself.

I'd like some links, Phazzy. :3 They all sound very interesting.
Faizah: I don't know.. I'd rather let members make up their own two headed/double bonded dragons, instead of giving out NOSM's characters. Personally, I don't think characters should be re-homed unless they're an irreplaceable character involved with a plot at the moment. But that's just me. ^-^; Plus, if no one takes those characters/defects we can always save them for future hatchlings.. if we do decide to hatch them with defects, anyway.

Well, it wouldn't be re-homing the characters, just the defects, right? Like a hatching. Completely different dragons, just...a defect already used? Since I think the only issue with that would be re-using Mary/Patra/etc. But the defects were never on her profile except after You/Faizah added them.
I personally don't like the idea of re-homing chracters. If they're important, let them become NPC's controlled by mods for polt points, if not, back-work them out? Or something.
/offtopic.
UM. I really like getting into the more psycological disorders, honestly. So A sadist/sociopath dragon is kind of interesting. Or...um. A form of Masochist dragon? That'd be terrifying. Also...hmm. Having a hexapede dragon? It has wings, but it ended up with a double shoulder socket, and the wing membrane never developed. Instead you have the four normallegs, and a second set. The dragon would look something like a praying mantis/centuar. 4 legs, and 2 extra limbs on a mutated torso?
LEPROSY. I mean...no, leprosy. Somehow... Cancer, even, if you wanted to bring older riders here.
Would it count if the rider were the one with the defect? Like...a sociopath, or someone absolutely mad? But somehow, they impressed...something? Hmm.

Different length wings maybe? I thought of that, and would've given it to J'kent's Marith, but Topaz and Faizah said I didn't have to....

@red: I totally agree with the off topic stuff, Red. But yes.. /offtopic ^-^ Ooooh, explain the hexepede a bit more? >.> Four legs like usual, but then would the third set look like legs? Or would they look like membrane-less wings? That would definitely get you off of Pern. xD And with the rider defect.. I would think the dragon would also have to be mentally unstable for that kind of impression to happen, because otherwise, dragons just aren't attracted to the minds of the mentally insane, I think. x3 --- Wolfy: I could have sworn one of the members who left had a dragon with one wing larger than the other. But yes, that would work. Also.. if you wanted a defect for Marith, you could use one. I just meant that she didn't need one to be sent to Rocky. ^-^;

Um. I dunno, I guess. But the wing-'fingers' would be stunted and function as what may possibly look like a second set of 'hands' at the end of the wings? I still see it like a praying mantis-type look.
I'm not so sure, really. I guess it would depend on how you wanted to do that. But...yeah. I think extra limbs that are NOT wings...
Ohmygoodness, an archangel dragon? Like...a defect that gives it multiple sets of wings? Perhaps not flight-worthy, but an extra set just before the first, and a set of limbs like wings at his/her hips? Or even a dragon whose limbs seemed to all want to develop into wings?

@prying mantis dragon: Oooh. Yes. That sounds adorable to me. x3
@archangel dragon: Like Toothless!? :D Only with a joint, instead of just a fin.. /howtotrainyourdragonreference. Ahem..
But yeah that sounds cool. :'3

Well, I was going to make these two concepts, but I don't have room. So they are going up for adoption. The ideas were a green with a hole in her heart, so she didn't have the stamina to fly Thread, and a blue with Cutaneous Asthenia. Here's a link to information about the blue's defect.
