Character Profile
Name: Rory Klicks
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: When in Rome... (Or this case the Weyr...)
Appearance:
Rory is one of those coffee bean colored blacks with skin so dark that he almost appeared truly black. His skin was so dark that when he smiled his teeth almost seemed luminous in contrast. There were lighter parts of skin on Rory's hands- hands that were well calloused after years of training with weapons and roughing it in the wilds- and on the soles of his boot worn feet. His eyes are a light brown, almost amber color that stand out in his face, and his hair is close shaved to his head in true military fashion.
Like most soldiers, Rory is comfortable in a uniform, and even when permitted to wear civies, he sticks to old BDU pants and beaten up brown and tan t-shirts. Although he is used to wearing boots and has the ugly stubbed and discolored toenails to prove it, Rory much prefers an old pair of torn up sneakers held together perilously by nothing more than a few threads.
Personality:
Being raised a good ol' Southern boy, Rory is very open and friendly. He will talk to anyone about absolutely anything. Like so many Southerners, Rory has a very backward way of reprimanding someone. He'll talk loudly to his dog or notepad or whatever about all the things he thinks you're doing wrong until you either leave or correct yourself.
If you're his subordinate, Rory treats you very differently. There is a certain kind of respect and rigid social structure that exists at all times in the military community. There is also a sense of brotherhood and comradery that allows those of military minds to share a raunchy joke and friendly grope without any sense of awkwardness.
Rory is also a lover of the simple things. Curling up under a blanket with a warm cup of hot chocolate and just sitting there listening to the sounds of life around him, reading a huge book straight through to the end without sleeping so that with a satisfied smile he finally collapses from exhaustion when he's finished, and cooking for people he loves are a few of his favorite things. He is a man who loves life, and lives everyday the way he wants to.
History:
Born to a middle-class family in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Rory had a happy childhood. There were no out-standing hardships or life changing heartbreaks. High school was filled with the usual drama, and college was far more boring and uneventful then everyone had led him to believe.
Rory attended one of the six military colleges in the US called North Georgia College and State University or NGCSU for short. Because of his training in the ROTC program and excellent score finishing LDAC (Leadership Development and Assessment Course) Rory graduated college with a 3.6 in his international affairs major and two shiny gold lieutenant bars.
After college, his fluency in Russian and Spanish allowed him a position in the UN as a military liaison. His life was interesting, and Rory loved all the traveling and meet and greeting he got to do through his job. His hard work and open-minded enthusiasm for all things foreign got him noticed by the right people, and after a year of back-ground checks and clearance approvals Rory was offered a promotion and a job.
This job, he was told, would take him to a place like no other. The project they wanted him to work for had no predecessor, and Rory jumped at the chance at top-secret liaising. Three days after his twenty-ninth birthday, Rory was brought to Rocky Weyr where he struggles to fit in among a tight-knit group of people who share deep interpersonal bonds with giant odd looking dragons.
Job/Rank: Captain in the American Military
Country: The United States of America
Pet Profile
Name: Seriously
Species: German Shepard
Age: Six
Physical Description:
Seriously is a fine beast with a golden undercoat and a perfect black saddle. His size is enormous, and his paws are easily the size of Rory's massive palms. He stands at two and a half feet tall and is almost over five feet when standing on his back feet. Seriously has a sloping head with a black stripe down the middle that slants mildly to the left down his muzzle.
Base Personality:
Like most Shepards, Seriously is a very protective dog. He doesn't like people getting to close to Rory, and Rory has to muzzle him in public for fear of Seriously biting someone in misplaced defense of his master. However, Seriously is very sweet and loving with Rory, and Rory doesn't even need a leash because Seriously never leads his side.
If a person becomes close to Rory and expects to be visiting a lot, they'll have to stay over in the house a few nights of the week until Seriously determines them to be 'safe' and accepts them near Rory without fear of being snapped or growled at. The longer the person remains, the more Seriously will come to accept them. He could even be persuaded to treat them like family after awhile.
