Name: Goran
Age: 35 (October 13)
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bi
Appearance: Goran is of average-ish height, standing at about 5'8", and has grey-green eyes and medium-dark brown hair. His hair is a few inches past shoulder-length and is usually worn loose, but is tied back when he is working. Goran tended to wear brown as a Rider, and started adding green when he started his Healer training. He is very likely to stick with something close to typical Pernese attire, but he really likes the idea of pockets and is likely to start wearing cargo pants, a military-type vest with the kind of pockets you can fit a copy of Lord of the Rings in, and a long-sleeve green tunic-like shirt with a belt. He looks older than he is – somewhere around 40 – as stress and grief have aged him prematurely.
Picture: Will be inserted when Tirya has a chance to stick the pixels onto photobucket.
Personality:
-likes children
-hates seeing other people hurt
-is the kind of person who acts gruff but everyone knows they’re a big softy
-will always have a sort of underlying sadness
-oddly for a dragonless man, he likes attending Hatchings; it hurts to be reminded that Arloth is gone, but he loves seeing the start of new lives together and the continuation of dragonkind
History:
Goran was born to a female greenrider at Southern Weyr as a Flight-baby and, as usual, was fostered out. He had an average weyrbrat’s childhood, with no outstanding incidents. Goran got along well with pretty much everyone, and he started hanging around the Infirmary to watch the healers working when he was about five Turns, as he had a bit of a ‘mother hen’ attitude going even then and wanted to be able to help people. As he got older, he started actually helping in the Infirmary rather than just watching. He started standing at Hatchings at fourteen, and stood unsuccessfully for four whole Turns, but didn’t let his continued failure discourage him from continuing to Stand; if there was a dragon for him in a future clutch, he didn’t want it to die because he’d given up and wasn’t there.
Finally, Goran Impressed blue Arloth a sevenday after his eighteenth birthday. The next ten Turns were spent fairly generically- Weyrling lessons, Threadfighting, participating in Greenflights, etc. Goran did keep assisting the healers in his spare time, as his mother-hen complex was still going strong, and Arloth agreed that they should be able to help anyone who needed it.
And then, when Goran was twenty-eight, Arloth was killed in Threadfall, receiving a scoring to the chest that gave him enough time to between back to the Weyr but was too deep for the healers to do anything about. Goran was devastated, and ended up deciding to become a full-on healer, with an aim towards dragonhealing; he didn’t want anyone else to go through what he had if he could prevent it.
He wasn’t exactly successful in his goal at first; he sank into a listless depression, and about a sevenday later a greenrider from his former Threadfighting wing took pity on him and gave him a flitter egg in hopes of getting him to snap out of it. The egg hatched into a green with patchwork markings, which Goran named Sif; having a life depending on him successfully brought him out of his depression and he left Southern to attend the Healer Hall.
At the Hall, Goran threw himself into intensive studying; he was determined to learn as much as possible as fast as could be done while still learning it properly. After six Turns of apprenticeship, he received Journeyman status and soon returned to Southern Weyr to work with the weyrhealers.
A Turn later, at the age of thirty-five, Goran heard about Earth and Rocky Weyr, and asked to be transferred so he could study the more-advanced Terran healing techniques. After a few days, his request was granted.and now you can has dragonless weyrhealer kthx
Firelizard Name: Sif
Firelizard Color: Green, in a patchwork pattern of a pale shade (C6FDBD) and a dark one (43760A).
Firelizard Personality: Sif is cuddly and caring, though she tends to act prickly at first around people she doesn’t know, and will not hesitate to attack someone she’s decided she doesn’t like. She’s very protective of Goran, and can almost always be found on his shoulder or flying near him. Even if he’s told her to stay clear because he’s working, she’ll stay in the same room and go sit on the rafters, if they’re exposed, or on top of whatever tall object is closest to him, if the rafters are covered or he’s outside.
And now, some tree-based Celtic astrology, because it fits him so damn well.
Ivy - The Survivor
September 30 – October 27
Among other cherished qualities of the Ivy Celtic tree astrology sign, most prized is your ability to overcome all odds. You have a sharp intellect, but more obvious is your compassion and loyalty to others. You have a giving nature, and are always there to lend a helping hand. You are born at a time of the waning sun so life can be difficult for you at times. This sometimes seems unfair because it appears that obstacles are coming at you with no prompting on your part. Nevertheless, you endure troubling times with silent perseverance and soulful grace. Indeed, Ivy signs have a tendency to be deeply spiritual and cling to a deep-rooted faith that typically sees them through adversity. You are soft spoken, but have a keen wit about you. You are charming, charismatic, and can effectively hold your own in most social settings.
((The scary thing is that I came up with Goran and his personality months before I even knew that Celtic astrology existed- I just used it to figure out when his birthday was, and wasn’t expecting so close a match.))
