IC Date: May 20th, 2013 IC Time: 4:30 a.m. [/u][/center] Lakeen's pregnancy had been a calm one, if a long one. She was actually about two weeks overdue, and she was becoming more and more nervous as the days went by. Not to mention, she hadn't been able to see much of Th'orn lately. For some reason or another he was always busy. Of course, their conflicting schedules didn't help matters... Lakeen was walking around the Weyr, Lakeesk by her side, when it happened. Finally her water broke, and Lakeen felt the first of the contractions. She had been reading up on what to expect, and she gazed down at her swollen stomach with confusion. She was supposed to get contractions before her water broke, according to the books. Another contraction started, and again Lakeen was surprised. Contractions were supposed to build gradually, not suddenly. She frowned, but started for the Infirmary. Thankfully she wasn't far. One of the nurses looked up as Lakeen stumbled in. She took one look at the woman before calling for more nurses and a doctor. Lakeen eased herself into the wheelchair that the nurse had provided, her hand falling down to rest on Lakeesk's head. She kept sending him soothing thoughts, for he had started growling. Lakeen looked up at the nurse. "Can you find Th'orn for me? This is his child..." She muttered as the nurse wheeled her into a delivery room. ((I know Wolfy is unavailable for now, but atleast this is here for when she gets back. ))

((Tired of waiting))
Lakeen would later learn that Th'orn wasn't in the Weyr. In fact, he was far from the Weyr. And he wouldn't be returning in the next few days.
Lakeen's labor was hard, but nothing abnormal or difficult. The baby was positioned correctly, and it was simply a matter of time. As the doctor and nurses had to keep reminding Lakeen. She was impatient to have her child, especially when she refused the pain medication.
After little more than nine hours, a baby's cry was heard in the Infirmary. A strong, healthy cry came from the obviously strong and healthy little boy the doctor held. He was handed over to a nurse, to get him cleaned up and checked out, as the doctor took care of Lakeen. She was tired, which was to be expected. But otherwise, she seemed fine.
"We're going to keep the two of you overnight, just to keep an eye on you. You should be able to go back to your room tomorrow." The doctor explained, eyeing the bronze next to Lakeen.
Lakeesk had been perfectly behaved, at Lakeen's insistance. There were times when he wanted to bite the hands off every one of those people, but he didn't. And while Lakeesk didn't understand exactly what was happening, he did seem to recognize what a baby was.
The nurse laid the baby boy, bundled in a blue blanket, on Lakeen's stomach. She smiled down at her son, wrapping her arms around him protectively. She was amazed at the headful of black hair the boy had, being a newborn and all. But that wasn't all. As her son opened his eyes, Lakeen gasped.
The boy had one silver blue eye, and one vibrant green eye.
The nurse hurried over, thinking something was wrong. As she got a good look at the boy's eyes, however, she just smiled. It was surprising, certainly, and not common. But it wasn't something wrong with the boy.
Lakeen begant to wonder about names. She and Th'orn hadn't spoken about it. To be truthful, they hadn't spoken much at all since she found out she was pregnant. But Lakeen put that aside. She had to think of a name for her son.
She wanted something Earthian, that was for sure. But she also wanted a name that would reflect Th'orn. Which was interesting to attempt. There weren't many names out their that fell under what she wanted. And while Lakeen was torn about which name to choose, Lakeesk already had an idea. He projected it to Lakeen, and was rewarded with a bright smile from her.
"Thomas. It's a good name. I think that's what we will call him, Lakessk." She answered brightly.
