Reyna was napping, sprawled completly out and absorbing as much of the sunlight as she could. When she woke, her eyes whirled furiously with the violet of lust and a hint of red mixed in. Without a thought she launched herself into the sky, bugling her challenge to the males.
Faizah was cutting meat for the night's dinner when she felt lust rise within her. She checked on Reyna first, and met a solid wall. Without a second thought Faizah hurried to the Weyr Bowl entrance to see Reyna already in flight, her bugle of challenge just fading. Faizah hurried outside, where she could watch her precious Queen fly.

Mari was resting in his weyr. He didn't want to have to deal with the lower colors today. Ugh! they were EVERYWHERE! Why couldn't they just go away? Or at least keep a respectful distance from their betters...
He was dragged away from his thoughts by an insanely seductive bugle of challenge. He immediately knew what it was and what he wanted. He sprang up and launched into the air, going Between to the Bowl, knowing she was around there somewhere. When he caught sight of the radiant gold he immediately began pumping air with his wings to get up to where she was, catching any updrafts he could to save precious energy.
It being that he had never, in his many years of life, flown a Queen, he didn't quite know exactly what to do. But with his age he could perceive that patience was the key. He shouldn't expend all of his energy in the first thirty seconds. However, in all of the excitement, he may just forget and go all out anyway...

Moe had noticed Reyna's hide grow brighter over the past few days but, being so inexperienced with females and mating, he had no idea what it meant. Even so, he could feel it was something important. It was leading up to something, and the brown made sure to keep an eye on the glorious female as her hue changed. Keeping inconspicuous tabs on her for the past two days, Moe knew that the queen was napping upon her ledge, and watched her intently from slightly higher on the cliff face.
As soon as she stirred, the usually calm and controlled male began to twitch with excitement, his little muscles flexing as he crouched at the edge of the cliff. Reyna bolted suddenly into the air, but Moe held back. Was it time? What was he suppos.. Cutting off his thoughts, a lusty bugle rang through the thin air of the weyrbowl. That! That was it!
Vaulting straight out into the air of the 'bowl, Moe let his momentum push him as far as it could, and then dropped down to Reyna's level. His wings only half furled, he banked slightly to the left, closer still to the radiant queen. A few body lengths under her, the brown's broad wings popped open, quickly ending his fall as he glided forward, just behind the aim of his flight. A deep, uncharacteristically bestial and growl-like rumble vibrated through the air from the Moe's large chest, letting Reyna know he was there, and he was ready for her.
(Moe decisively did not notice Mari, being rather enthralled with his first Chase. xD)

Forge had been sunning near the lake when he heard her. A lustful bugle that rang through the air with an undeniable challenge. He immediately went between to her; his golden queen in all her Rising glory. Forge immediately saw her, then saw the other bronze near her. Forge butted his way between his Queen and the other bronze while at the same time bugling to her. He was coming and he would catch her!
Pawn was with Mary when he heard the bugle, so full of lust and challenge that he could not deny her. When he looked up he could see her already in the sky with three Chasers. Pawn lept into the sky just as he heard Forge's bugle. Pawn thought nothing of the large bronze as he joined the other brown in the Chase of the glorious Queen. This was his first flight, but already he didn't have to think; he just reacted in the way that instinct demanded.

Spock, sound asleep, awoke to the screeching and deep challenges of the others. So it was time. He opened his eyes wide, and hissed softly, getting to his feet slowly and with considerable deliberation. He was still sleepy, and it was so warm...
But the little gold's hide shone so in the light, and he couldn't keep his eyes off her. The brown hissed again, now annoyed, as he caught sight of other flecks of color in the sky, shimmering shades of molten metal bronzes and the earthy tones of the other browns. Spock took of at a run, pelting along on all fours along a slim ledge the humans used as a foot path. Though at first he did look somewhat silly, he eventually got a rhythm down, and instead of an awkward shuffle he hit a stride similar to that of a rabbit, wings streamlined to pick up speed.
Did he look ridiculous? Of course. But he was behind, and these...others had a head start at chasing a female that by all rights should be his. Those bronzes wouldn't stand a chance once this brown got going. He almost sang with glee as he came up on what he'd been looking for- the path curved rather sharply, and there was an abrupt drop-off leading down a hill. He hit that at a dead run, kicking out in a rather acrobatic jump and snapping his wings open; with his wings angled right, he managed to gain just a bit of momentum from his running start, just enough to slide into the tail end of the pack of males, screaming out a defiant taunt.
These fools had no chance against him, he gloated proudly, catching up to a particularly haughty bronze and darting in to fly wingtip-to-wingtip with him, and snarling a challenge, both to his opponents and the glorious, shining goldenone he flew for. Surely she had to know he was far superior to all the others? Well, no matter. He was going to prove he was best, and he'd catch the feisty queen!

Reyna put on a small burst of speed, putting more distance between her and the males chasing her. She let out a flitter equivalent to a laugh as they chased her. She found a thermal and climbed it so that she was now flying over the males. Reyna suddenly folded her wings in and dropped among the male flits.

As the other males joined the Flight, Moe snarled and pushed on towards Reyna even as she suddenly pulled away from them. Moe tried to follow her, but her body was much more slender and sleek than his, so he couldn't exactly pull up as sharply. He tried to pump his wings harder, but he was still left a number of meters underneath her as the queen found a thermal.
Growling in frustration, Moe nearly missed Reyna's dive bomb back down amongst her chasers, and had to scramble out of the way to avoid a deadly collision. He tumbled a few times, but eventually righted himself, searching the air below for the glowing female. As he locked his red-purple eyes on her alluring form he bugled excitedly, enticed by her daring acrobatics. Although he wanted to be right by her side, Moe realized she might have some more tricks up her sleeve, and followed cautiously.
---
Kiana and Caleth had been napping after a big meal, but Moe's agitated and elated emotions stirred the heavy sleeping females out of dreamworld. Kiana blearily wandered out of bed and out to the weyrledge, pulling the curtain back. Even though she needed to shield her eyes to the sunlight and bright, snow-capped mountains, Kiana quickly found her little flit, in his very first Chase.
The little one Chases the queen of the weyrwoman. A draconic chuckle escaped the pale queen and her eyes whirled a mirthful blue. She frustrates him. Kiana smirked as her dragon's thoughts reached her and focused her eyes on the soaring form of her firelizard.

Gah! First brown, then a bronze, then all these other browns were coming out of the woodwork! er. stonework? Anyway, they were everywhere! surrounding him, keeping the queen out of reach. He weaved in and out of his counterparts trying to get close, but not too close, to the glorious Gold.
He was startled when she suddenly rose above them. He began to climb after her, but she was already on her way down, right among him and the others.
As she shot down he backwinged with bronze dexterity, trying to grab at her supple hide with his yearning claws. He missed, naturally, and continued with the Chase.

Forge screeched and dived after his Queen, trying to grab onto her as he passed by. He missed, as the other bronze had, and used his momentum from the drop to pull up and continue chasing her. At the same time he rammed himself into the other bronze, determined that he wouldn't have a chance at the queen.
Pawn was keeping a close eye on Reyna, knowing without knowing that she had some tricks. So the brown was not surprised when she rose above them and then dropped among them. He calmly banked to the side to avoid getting hit, then continued with the chase. He was quite smug when he saw Forge having some trouble.

Spock snarled, frustrated as the goldensplendrousone rocketed down past him. He wasted no time in executing a forward flip, pausing at the very apex and tucking the movement into a steep dive after the queen. He tried to keep his movements as precise as possible; if he was to outlast the other browns, and the long-lasting bronzes especially, he'd have to conserve his energy.
He dove towards the only thing he was really focusing on, sliding past one of the slower bronzes with a snide chirp, though who knew how long that lead would last.

Reyna continued her dive towards the lake, which they were fast approaching. When she was a measly inch above the glass-like surface of the lake she let the tip of her forked tail skim the surface. Then she was rising again, more than willing to fly far and long to prove which of these males was worthy of her. As she rose upwards she gave a teasing trill of lust and allowed her tail to flick along the body of the closest flitter. A brown, she mused, as she continued to rise above her chasers. Upon each male that she passed she flicked her tail teasingly across their bodies, but always remaining out of their reach.

Moe did not want to dive so steeply after golden Reyna as she continued her decent, fearing that she would suddenly pull up and try to crash into them all again. No, he would be smarter than that! Decending nonetheless, Moe took a more leisurely route down to the glowing queen, meandering back and forth about a dragonlength above her as she skimmed the water of the lake.
Moe gave a burble of satisfaction as Reyna rose once again, just as he had assumed she would. She was slightly less voracious in her accent now, taking the time to come very close to Moe, as well as the rest of the Chasers, brushing up against them seductively as she trilled her enjoyment. At her caress, Moe gave a loud croon and pumped his wings furiously, as if the touch had given him a boon of stamina and energy. He would Catch her, no one else! He was sure of it.

Mari would never allow a brown to take this Queen. He had already decided this long before, but with her trill and glorious touch it was established anew. When she swept past him just out of reach, he pivoted his wings so as to turn after her with as little wind resistance as possible.
Tucking in all his appendages, he did a quick barrel roll-turn in the air to keep his momentum in his new direction and then sped after her, trying to match every loop, dive, and turn using the smallest flick of his wings for direction and altitude.
He wanted to win. Needed to win. That beautiful, sleek, impossibly seductive spot of radiance was just too.. too... too perfect not to have. He would get her. He had to.

Spock let loose a tormented cry as his beautiful queen- yes, his, for there was no force in the world going to stop him from claiming her- swept down past them. Her touch wrapped him in pure ecstasy, and his efforts were doubled as he followed her.
Her scent, so lovely, almsot as tempting as she herself, egged him on. He dove, but shallowly, focusing still on keeping pace rather than staying quite on her tail. But the heart-meltingly beautiful queen was his entire world now, and he knew he had to be tricky to beat those unworthy suitors he competed against.
He pumped his wings, and soared upwards to chase his glorious mate-to-be. He could almost feel the air chilling around him; she was smart, going higher into the sky. But that would give the heavier bronzes a weakness, while the lighter browns could streak through the thinner air more easily.
He locked his eyes on the stunning gold; she outshone all else; even the sun was no match for her radiance.

Reyna chirped at her persuers, but she was flying slower and less acrobatically. She was beginning to tire. She knew she had to choose one of the males soon, but she still had some energy to play a bit more.
Reyna flew until she was under the males, a blatant challenge to any of them to catch her if they dared. As she leveled out and flew slightly slower she called out to them. "Catch me if you dare!" seemed to be what she was calling to them.

Following her closely still, Moe could see the minor signs of stress in the glorious queen's acrobatics. She was tiring, and he was quite thankful for it. His bulk, stockier than the lean powerhouse bronzes, was more difficult to haul around like this than one would think. He would never give up the Chase however, one could bet on that! He would fly Reyna until he fell from the sky in exhaustion.
As if a blessing from the first golden flitter herself, Reyna dipped underneath the throng of males now, slowing her rate of flight dramatically, almost making Moe back-wing to keep from passing her. She called to them again, another challenge, but this time it seemed real. Less of a seductive tease and much more than an offer for the taking! Diving down to her, Moe hauled up some reserves from his tired muscles and rolled past her in the most aerobatic fashion he could muster. Weaving in and out around her, his wingtip grazed hers, tail twitching as he fought the urge to tackle the gold in midair. It wouldn't be right that way. It was the queen who had to choose, that much he was sure of. But oh how badly he wanted to give in as his sore muscles pushed on.

Spock hissed as the queen slowed some. He was relieved, but didn't dare show it. He was running short of breath, and he knew if she'd kept it up much longer the big bronzes would be the ones to claim what he felt was far out of their league. Didn't they know browns had the best of all worlds?
He trailed the golden beauty relentlessly, now letting her slowed pace and his steady one slowly close the gap between them. Another brown had come nearer her, with fancy flying and acrobatics, and that one brushed her wingtip, making Spock's eyes flare orange in envy. Spock darted beneath Reyna, leveling out to rise up just under her other side, gliding along just under and beside her. He let out a low rubling croon, letting her know he was there, if she would just look at him.
Oh, wouldn't she choose? He refused to drop out, it was a matter of pride, but he knew he couldn't much longer keep pace with her seemingly-unlimited energy. Surely she must have made her decision by now? He vowed to keep up with her, even if it wore him to the bone, just for this chance.

Mari's preciously conserved energy was beginning to wane thin. He knew he could still continue on for a long while, and would for a chance at the queen, however he...but wait! she was beginning to slow! Her supple body turning and dipping until she leveled out underneath him...and the other males too, he supposed. Bugling his reply to her challenge, he did a barrel roll, passing in front of her, and snapped his wings out to stop him nearly dead in his tracks until she was passing over his head. He then, in a feat of acrobatics, winged up until he was almost brushing her belly and then flipped over in midair. While in this exposed position he blew a taunting breath into her face. Finished with his showing off, he flipped over into a back-wing and arranged himself just above and before his majestic gold, prepared now to save his remaining energy for the very end.

Reyna looked at the three individual males waiting for her to choose. There was one brown that was showing off, who was tempting to choose. Then there was another brown who was being patient, waiting for her to choose. He was cute with his croon and sudden silence. Last there was the very daring bronze, who was very tempting as well...
Reyna looked once more at her three Chasers before she made her decision. She slowed her pace a little more and tilted her wings so that she was flying next to the quiet brown. This was the male she chose, who had the right to catch her, a Queen firelizard.

Spock's heart nearly burst as he saw his beautiful queen fall into sync alongside him. Unsure at first, he let them simply glide together for a bit, then he let out a triumphant bugle; long and warbling, it claimed his victory as well as being a song to woo Reyna. He dropped in altitude and circled around her once, ending up just above and behind her. He dropped so his claws scraped her shoulders gently, and his tail etwined with hers.
He'd won. Him; not one of the bronzes, not anyone else, him. She'd chosen him. And he had no intentions of betraying the trust and faith that choice implied. A soft growl warned off any others, and he urged his queen upwards with a thought of skies and the stars. They would have to fly high, he knew it instinctively.

Reyna crooned as she followed her chosen mate into the skies. She was more than willing, and very happy, to fly as high as she could. She warbles back to Spock in respnce to his warbleing cry of victory and song. ((And my muse died. Lol))
