IC Date: September 15, 2012 IC Time: Around seven in the evening IC Setting: A warm night outside but cool when inside the weyr Samari, Gold Samarsk, Bronze Orn, & Blue ZedSamari couldn't believe it. It was just a drunken whim of the moment. She didn't really think anything would come off it. Sure, she had a major hangover the next day, but she had remember what she did to the Weyrleader that night. She mentally cringed at her audacity for behaving so. It all the alcohol's fault! If she had been thinking properly, she would never had contemplated what she had done. But that was the past and now she needed to deal with the present, and the probable future. Samarsk knew something as bothering Hers. She didn't know what it was, but she was there to comfort Hers if need be. And to get to the bottom of things, Samarsk asked Hers, What is wrong? She may be able to help, Faranth knows, she didn't like Hers being unahppy or sad. Samari sighed as she looked back at her gold's nest. Samari picked up the pregnancy test kit. Her period had been late, and because of that night with Kain, she had bought the test kit. She showed the result to Samarsk. It was one of those that showed a "+" if you were pregnant or a "-" if you weren't. The test kit showed a "+" which means, Samari's pregnant. Since the pregnancy was early enough, she was seriously thinking of whether she was going to have the baby or not. Since coming to Earth, she had learned of abortions of early pregnancies. She just wasn't sure if Kain would want the baby or not if she decided to have it. Samarsk saw the stick with the "+" on it. She had no idea what it meant so she asked, So? as she looked back at Hers. Samari shook her head in denial as she said aloud, "So, it means I'm pregnant Samarsk. I'm going to have a baby, and I'm thinking if I should have it or not." Samari told her Wher. Sure Samarsk wasn't a dragon with the intelligent capacity like that of dragons, but Samarsk was smart enough to give decent opinions with regards to her life. Samarsk look at the stick then back at Samari. So, what problem? You have baby. When baby come? Samarsk asked Hers innocently not knowing that she was technically deciding the baby's fate for Samari. Samari contemplated for a little before answering with, "About eight months from now. Give or take a few days." with a nod of her head. Yes, she was going to have the baby whether or not Kain wanted the baby or not. But now that she had decided to keep the baby, that meant she needed to inform Kain. Looking at her bed, she spied her two flitts. With a mutter, Samari looked for a piece of paper and a pen. On the paper, she wrote: 'Kain,
I have something to tell you. Please come to my weyr.
Samari' After writing her little note, she woke Orn up. "Orn you lazy lug, get up." Samari said as she shook the flitt to wake it up. "I need you to take this note to the Weyrleader." Samari added as she pictured Kain in her head and Orn giving the note to the Weyrleader. He's probably in the Dining Hall just finished with his dinner. Samari thought as she held the note for Orn to take to the Weyrleader. Orn blinked sleepily at His before he became fully awake. He chirped a greeting before receiving an image from His and of him giving a note to someone. If he knew about shrugging shoulders, he would have done so. As it was, Orn just outstretched a front paw to hold onto the note. With a stretch of his wings, he was aloft and on his way on his errand. Along the way, he pounced on unsuspecting folk and bounced atop their heads like a spring. Zed was woken up as well, and didn't like having his sleep disturbed. Never mind that he was about to wake up anyways, he was irritated, and he decided to accompany Orn on his errand. Zed tried to get in the way of Orn so that Orn would sometimes miss his intended quote-unquote victim. It didn't take long before Orn and Zed were in the Dining Hall. Orn was looking about for the Weyrleader while Zed spied a plate of food and instinct kicked in as Zed sped for the food to eat.

Samari couldn't have been more wrong about Kain's whereabouts. He wasn't anywhere near the dining hall at that time. He was out in the 'bowl, leaning against Gorth's side, and looking up at the sky. He was enjoying the warmth that was outside, and the slow darkening of the sky seemed fascinating to the Weyrleader at that time.
Gorth was asleep, soundly, and couldn't care less about what was happening around the weyr. There had been too much excitement for him lately, with a green's flight and new arrival's and other such events. Right now, the bronze wanted to relax so badly he would likely grumble at even Kain if he was awoken.
But Hobbs obviously didn't care. He was hyper, and wanted to play, and had seen Zed and Orn in the dining hall. He could have smiled to himself as he launched himself at the younger blue flitter. Zed had been diving for someone's plate when Hobbs had dived at him, and together the blues ended up knocking into the table and then rolling along to the end of it.
Hobbs jumped up and regained some air before they could crash to the ground. And he was feeling good about himself for it. But then he noticed the roll of paper that Orn had a hold of, and Hobbs felt even more mischevious. With a flitter chirp he distracted Orn from whatever he had been looking at. And then sped underneath the bronze, grabbing the note in his mouth as he went by.
The note came with Hobbs, and he turned back once to see chaos and possible anger where the other flits were concerned. But he didn't care, and went between to Kain, to deliver the note he had so cleverly stolen.
And believe you me when it was said that Kain was not happy to be woken from his thoughts by Hobbs nipping his ear and holding out a roll of paper. Kain sighed, grumbling about the blue, and unrolled the note. He looked to the top to see who it was for, with the intention of returning it to them. But he was surprised to see his name there. He quickly unrolled it and continued to read it.
Afterwards he sighed to himself. A cold chill had gone down his spine, and he had a feeling he knew exactly what was wrong with Samari. And apparently Kain's luck was so bad as for him to get a third woman pregnant on the first try. As the Weyrleader stood up he hung his head slightly. He already had two daughters. Could he handle another baby?
Stop your grumbling. Did it occur to you she may want to apoligize for getting drunk, mine? Gorth grumbled sleepily, not moving a muscle.
Kain considered it, then nodded to Gorth. He knew the dragon couldn't care less, but it seemed like a good thing to do. Then, feeling a little better about being called to Samari's weyr, he headed in that general direction.

Bronze Orn & Blue Zed in the Dining Hall Since Zed was too focused on the food, he didn't see Hobbs until they collided. He squawked indignantly at the other blue as he got tumbled head over heels into the plate of food that he had spied earlier on. Before he could do anything in retaliation, the other blue had flown away and bothered Orn. Zed huffed irritatedly but he still had his mind on food and spying another plate, he dove for that and started eating.
Orn was so busy trying to look for the person he was supposed to look for that he didn't see the blue. By the time he noticed Hobbs, the other blue had managed to snag the note that he was holding with his paw. He hissed in irritation his errand all but forgotten at the blue's interference. He was all set into going after the little bugger but the blue went Between leaving Orn with nowhere to go.
Samari & Gold Samarsk Samari waited anxiously in her weyr for Kain to arrive. She started to pace back and forth, wondering how she was going to break the news to him. She still couldn't quite believe that, that one night would result in her getting pregnant. As she paced, she hoped that Orn would find Kain quickly. She getting too emotional just waiting for him.
Samarsk watched Hers walk back and forth. After a while, she snorted and said, Baby fine. Stop pacing. And with that advice given to Hers, she stood up and walked out to rest on their weyr ledge. Their weyr wasn't that high, they were still near the ground but their weyr had a ledge where she could relax, if she didn't want to stay inside her nest. Besides she wanted to be outside and look up at the stars. She may not be able to differentiate their distance, but they were nice to look at.
Samari stopped pacing as she heard Samarsk's comment. And her gold was right. The baby was fine, and she shouldn't worry over much or it might affect her baby. With a hand over her stomach where she supposed the baby was, she mentally relaxed herself as she went to sit on a chair near her writing desk to patiently wait for Kain.

Kain reached Samari's weyr, with a little help from Lakeen, at the same time Samarsk moved out to her ledge. He could hear the sound of talons and leathery hide on stone. He smiled to himself. It wasn't quite as prominant a sound as when Gorth did it, but Samarsk wasn't that big either. Then he shook himself, realizing he was losing himself in his thoughts again.
He knocked calmly, a small smile on his face. He didn't know why he was smiling, but he was. He was in a good mood, that was certain, and could possibly be the reason. He shrugged to himself. He didn't care, but apparently Hobbs did. At that moment he screeched in Kain's ear, growled and then flitted down the hallway.
Kain rubbed his abused ear and watched Hobbs fly off. He wondered what was wrong with that blue. And at the same time kind of wished he could get another flit that might be a little more useful. Because everyone knew that Hobbs certainly wasn't. Kain sighed to himself, looking back at the closed door and wondering when Samari would answer. Had he not knocked loud enough?

Samari Samari gave a start when she heard the knock. She gave herself a minute to compose herself and appear calm before she got up to answer her door. There was only one person who would be coming to see her, and that would be the Weyrleader Kain.
Slowly, she walked towards the door and opened it. And sure enough, there Kain was, waiting to be let inside her weyr. "Please come in, Kain." Samari said as she stepped aside to give room for Kain to enter into her weyr. Orn and Zed hadn't returned which was fortunate, for she didn't want any distractions for this discussion.
When Kain came in, Samari said, "First off, I just wanted to apologize for my behavior, that night that I got drunk." as she closed the door once he was inside. She gestured for Kain to take the chair by the desk near her bed, while she sat on the edge of her bed. "I never would have done anything like that, if I was sober." she added as she sat down.
Samari paused to gather her courage before blurting out, "Thing is, I seem to have gotten pregnant as a result. And I just wanted you to know that I plan on having the baby." in one long hurried declaration. Then, she blushed when she stopped talking. She didn't want to give the news to Kain, in quite the way that she just did. She just hoped that Kain would understand that she was in a kind of stress, what with being pregnant and deciding to have the baby, and all that entails.

Kain nodded and smiled as he walked into the room, sitting in the chair she offered him. He smirked for a moment, nodding when Samari got to her apology. He opened his mouth to speak, but Samari had continued to talk. Kain leaned back in the chair, listening slightly. What else could she have to say?
Apparently, that she was pregnant.
Kain's jaw dropped as Samari said she was pregnant. And she was keeping it. Kain could have groaned, but then he saw Samari blushing. He wondered how she was feeling about all of this. She probably hadn't been planning on having a baby. Perhaps she wasn't as excited about being pregnant as she should.
Kain silently sighed, trying to think of ways in which he could reassure Samari. Either way he thought about it, she was surely worried about it. And she had made a big descision to keep the baby. So Kain looked at Samari, and offered her a small smile.
"Don't worry about it. I've found I do the father thing rather well." He said, chuckling softly. Yeah, he had just put himself at the blunt end of the joke. But he didn't mind, as long as it made Samari feel slightly better.

Samari When Samari heard Kain say not to worry, it was as if a huge weight was lifted off of her shoulders. She felt relief course through her. She gave a smile at Kain, rather at a loss for what else to say, except, "That's good. I wasn't really sure what I would do if you has said no." as she put her right hand on her stomach. She felt a proprietary feeling for the baby that was growing inside of her.
"This is my first pregnancy and I really hope there won't be any problems." Samari told Kain her voice gaining an anxious quality. She knew how very advanced the medical doctors are here on Earth compared to those of Pern. Still, she hoped to Faranth that her baby will be born safe and sound. "I hope you'll be there when the time comes." she added quietly as she looked back down at her belly.

Kain cocked his head to the side, much like a confused puppy. "Why would I say no? It's your choice to keep the baby. And it's not like I'm going to ignore a child of mine." He explained. He didn't know what Samari had been thinking, but now he was curious.
At the same time Kain reached out to Gorth, telling him about Samari's news. I'm expecting another child, Gorth. A father to three within a year of each other... Kain said, his voice somewhat amused.
Gorth chuckled in Kain's mind, pulling a line from one of Kain's old friends. You will adjust, mine. The bronze said, chuckling more.
Kain rolled his eyes, but focused on Samari. She was worried about the baby, it being her first. And she said she hoped he would be there when the baby was born. He could only smile softly. "The doctors here will make sure both you and the baby are fine. And," He paused, going over and laying a hand gently on Samari's shoulder. "I haven't missed the birth of any of my children. Ours won't be the first." He said.
Kain stood there for a moment, thinking of his two daughters. Cristina and Isabelle. He really hoped those two would get along. He didn't want to be in the middle of the infamous teenage girl wars. He laughed slightly, looking down at Samari again.
"Are you hopeing for a boy or a girl?" He asked, truthfully curious.

Samari Samari felt tears suddenly falling down her face. What was wrong with her?! she thought aghast at finding herself in tears. She wasn't sad, far from it. She was so happy. In fact, very happy that Kain didn't mind her having the baby. And, that he would be there when the time came. She wiped her tears away, trying to make her face smile but couldn't as she hastily told Kain, "I'm fine. I don't know why I'm crying, but I'm fine." Still trying to stem the tears that were falling from her eyes. She didn't want him to see her crying face. There are some women who can cry very prettily without making a mess of their face, she was not such a woman. Her nose gets all runny and her eyes get red.
Trying to deviate Kain's concern about her crying, she answered his question. "I haven't really thought about whether I'd like a boy or girl." she said as she composed herself. "Whatever it turns out to be, I will love and care for it." Then turning the tables on Kain, she asked, "What about you? Do you hope our baby will turn out to be a boy or girl?"

Kain was slightly surprised when Samari started crying, but not by much. Reya had cried too, at first. Alex had yelled at him, but Kain was starting to learn that crying was usually the reaction women had to being pregnant. He looked around, trying to find something that would help, and noticed a tissue box on the desk. He handed it to Samari, smiling.
"Don't worry about it. You're not the first one to end up in tears." He said with a small laugh. "I'm sure there have been many more women before you who cried happily about being pregnant."
He nodded, listening as she said she didn't care about the gender. That she was going to love and care for it either way. But she surprised him when she turned around and asked him which he preferred. Kain frowned slightly, thinking about it.
"I'm not really sure. I already have two girls, but they're so young. I don't really know which I would prefer." He thought for a moment. Girls were generally easier to please, when they're children, especially when its their father giving them things. Boys were a little harder, or so his parents told him. He laughed slightly, turning back to Samari. "Probably another girl, I would prefer. But it doesn't matter to me. I wouldn't mind either way." He finished.

Samari Samari nodded as she listened to Kain reply regarding which gender the baby turns out to be. She smiled as she heard him say that he wouldn't mind either way. With her crying bout over, she said, "Well, thanks for coming over." Now that she had given her decision about the baby, she didn't have any more to discuss with him. But then, a thought came to her mind. Before Kain could move to leave her weyr, she blurted "Oh wait!" When she was sure Kain wasn't going anywhere, she asked, "Do you have any ideas for names? I haven't even thought about them. I don't know what to name the baby if it's a boy or if it's a girl. Do you?"

Kain froze at that comment. He thought about it for a few moments, then smiled. "Well, I always wanted a daughter named Lillith. As for a boy, perhaps Arnold, after my father." He said.
He wondered about Samari's parents. And if they knew she was going to be having a child. He also wondered why she didn't want to name the baby after her parents. He decided to ask. "What about your parents? Either of them you would want to name the baby after?"

Samari Samari shook her head at Kain's question. "My parents are still very much alive. And I don't really want to name my child after my parents. Although, if I combine Arina and Lillith, the name Rinalli, does have a nice sound to it. And if I combine, Samyk and Arnold, the name Mykarn, sounds good as well." Samari said as she contemplated about names. "Or, would you rather that the baby gets named from a combination of our name instead?" she wondered aloud. "Hmm... Samari and Kain... How about Arika if it's a girl, and... Sakai, if it's a boy?" Samari asked Kain.

Kain thought carefully for a moment. The idea of combining names hadn't crossed his mind, but he had to admit the combinations weren't bad. He smiled at Samari.
"I like Rinalli and Arika. I like Sakai too. Mykarn is just a little strange, even for my liking." He laughed slightly.
((Sorry for cruddy post.))

Samari Samari nodded as Kain voiced his opinion regarding the names. And now, with nothing else to discuss, Samari fidgeted as she said, "I guess that's all I wanted to talk about. I'll think more about the names as time passes. Thanks again for coming by Kain." as she stood up to walk Kain out of her weyr. Besides, it was time for her to go eat. She needs to remember that she can't forget to eat anymore now that she's eating for two. Then again, maybe she might have twins, she barely remembers a member from one of her distant relatives having twins and all that. Oh well, she'll worry about it when her ultrasound comes in when she checks in with the doctors in the infirmary.
