"Cioeth, you look perfect," Tiffanie informed her dragon with amusement. The chimera was shining more blue than usual, given she had just been bathed and oiled.
A laugh ensured as the dragon posed, looking down at her rider. It was hard, Tiffanie thought, to believe that a being so large would be so vain and so, well...girlie.
Definitely girlie. Sometimes she wondered if it was defensiveness about that blue sheen which was, in dragon terms, a masculine trait. Personally, Tiffanie thought it only made her prettier.
"Whoever said blue and green shouldn't be seen has never met you," she added, wandering over to hop on her dragon's now-extended foreleg. It made for a remarkably comfortable seat.

Nakia and Isath came around to the 'bowl at that moment. Isath appraised Cioeth, thrumming happily. Nakia remembered that Cioeth was one of Isath's hatchlings, which meant that Isath remembered it too. For that moment, anyway. And she was proud of how gorgeous her Chimera daughter was.
Nakia nodded to Tiffanie. "She certainly has gotten more and more eye catching." She said, offering a small smile.
It was the closest Cioeth and Tiffanie were going to get to Nakia calling her beautiful. Perhaps they recognized it, and perhaps they didn't. Either way, Nakia was of the firm belief that Isath was the most beautiful of any dragon. But that could simply be the Chimerarider looking through rose tinted glasses.
Everyone claims their dragon or wher is the best.

"Isath is almost as pretty," Tiffanie quipped. Actually, she would have to admit that the two were pretty close...and there were some similarities in how they were built, too. You could sort of tell they were mother and daughter.
Tiffanie inclined her head to the green-gold, for a moment. She might only be half a queen, but that still made her close to a queen, in the girl's view. "She's growing well. I'm proud of her."
Proud of her dragon...but then, every rider was. And every handler of their wher. Heck, most people around here were even pretty proud of their firelizards. Impression did that.
Cioeth stretched a little, quite deliberately showing off her blue-shimmering wings to her dam. The two chimeras were certainly eyecatching. They would turn heads even amongst those who did not know they were also unusual. Tiffanie wondered when Cioeth would fly for the first time...and whether she would clutch.
And then whether it was a good idea for her to clutch. Given everything. "They're both very feminine dragons, aren't they," she noted to Nakia, moving to scritch the base of Cioeth's neck. There were distinct differences in build between the female dragons and the males, as well as the immediately-obvious color differences. Browns seemed to her almost the most masculine, though, more so than the bronzes. Which would probably not be how a Pernese saw it. They saw bronze dragons, from what she knew, as the ultimate expression of masculinity. The browns, though, were hunkier.
And Cioeth was starting to notice such things, reminding her rider that she was definitely a *female* dragon, if any such reminder was ever needed.

Nakia smiled, nodding to Tiffanie. She kinda liked this girl. She was spunky. And took pride in her dragon, even if they were outcasts according to Pern. It was something that Nakia liked. This girl wouldn't let any "hidebound" butthead put her down because of her dragon's chimerism.
Isath, seeing Cioeth stretch just right to show off her coloring, grinned in a draconic way. Cioeth was absolutely her daughter! And quite a pretty daughter she would be. Isath hoped that Cioeth would clutch at least once. Nakia wasn't the only one that wondered what pretty colored hatchlings would come from this Chimera.
There is little bad to comment on. Too bad the blue wasn't in rosettes. You would be more stunning. Isath said to Cioeth.
Nakia was surprised. There were few times when Isath praised another dragon. Let alone calling one stunning. Then she nodded at Tiffanie. "They are very feminine. There is no doubt Cioeth is female, even with the blue sheen. However, I do wonder if she will clutch. They would be very interesting looking hatchlings." She mused aloud.

Tiffanie considered. "Given how crazy things are, I'm half hoping she doesn't."
There was no way Pern would take the chimeras, even if they were perfectly healthy and capable of flying Thread, and there might not be an Earth soon. Eh well.
"But I do wonder what she might throw if she does. A green-bronze chimera would be stunning too, but I don't know whether she could do that. Maybe Isath, if she clutches again."
Cioeth tilted her head at her dam. Rosettes? she inquired.
Tiffanie cut into the conversation between the dragons, amused. Pretty the way you are, but maybe there will be a green dragon with blue rosettes in the future.
Or, more embarrassing, a brown one with pretty blue flowers. At THAT image, she laughed. A girly male dragon...poor guy. She shared the image with Cioeth...who mischievously passed it on to Isath so she could show her rider.
Tiffanie was still giggling some. "Who knows what might happen in the future. We have all kinds of weird chimeras, and hermaphrodite dragons. No wonder Pern wants us shunted out of the way."
But did...nah. She was not going to worry about it, not right now.

Nakia nodded. "Isath threw a bronze-bronze last time. That was interesting. I don't know how she managed it with a blue-green as the father, but it happened." She smiled.
Rosettes are the gold markings on me. Or so I've been told. Isath answered Cioeth's question. Its just a pity that the blue isn't noticeable unless you're in the right light. Isath elaborated.
Nakia's eyes hardened at the mention of Pern. "They can fly into Thread for all I care. Chimeras are just as good as the others." She said vehemently.

"Eh. People are silly. And prejudices are *always* silly, no matter who or what they're aimed at."
Tiffanie moved to lean against her dragon, looking at the rosettes on Isath's hide. "Honestly...the rosettes are cool, but so's Cioeth's shimmer."
They were both really cool dragons, and Tiffanie loved her green-blue. There would be no listening to anyone who tried to treat them as second-class riders or worse. But right now, there were more important concerns. Going to Pern as a second-class rider would be better than dying with the Earth. Unless, of course, the Earth didn't die. How could she know? How could she...predict?

Nakia nodded in understanding. "Don't we know it." She said, looking once over at Isath.
Nakia took a closer look at Cioeth. She was ended a pretty green, almost as pretty as her mother. But Nakia couldn't see what was so special about the shine on some of the chimeras. She much preferred the markings, but that was just her. She shrugged to Tiffanie.
"I like Isath's markings. The gold looks stunning against the green." She said.

"Don't we all think our own dragon is the best, anyway?" Tiffanie noted, reaching up to scritch Cioeth under her shimmering chin.
"Seriously. I think that's a law of riderhood. And the same with the wherhandlers." Who were not so very different, she honestly thought. Of course, she'd rather have a dragon...and be able to fly...but she wasn't immune to the 'charms' of the uglier, ground bound whers. They struck her as particularly useful to have around in a tight spot.
But none of them could solve the current problem. Ah well. She'd live while she could and if she couldn't...there was nothing she could do to save herself except make a desperate leap to Pern and likely...survive in the wilds on her own. No Weyr would take Cioeth.
