IC Date: August 11th, 2013 IC Time: Just after sunset Weather: Warm with a slight breeze [/u][/center] Mentari sat in Faizah's room, looking into the mirror. Today was her wedding. She was getting married to Tad, the man she loved and who had fathered her twin sons. She couldn't be happier that this day had come. Though she wasn't going to deny that she was nervous. Today everyone's attention would be on her. She just wasn't certain how she was going to handle that. She smiled, thinking about the wedding. Even with the world possibly ending, she had a bright future. Atleast, in her opinion she did. She would be marrying the man she loved, and on top of that she had her sons and her beloved Ladeth. What other married couple had dragons? Faizah walked in just then, dressed for the occasion. Faizah was wearing a short ivory dress with red beads coming up from the hem. The bust cloth was slightly darker, and it was spaghetti strapped, but Mentari had to admit Faizah looked great in it. It wasn't everyday that Faizah actually dressed up. "Let's get your veil on, and finish up your makeup." Faizah said, smiling slightly at Mentari. Mentari nodded, looking down at her dress. It was simple, full length with a slight train. There was on strap along her right shoulder, with a white silk rose on the shoulder. Mentari simply adored the dress. And she had the perfect veil to go along with it. Faizah moved up and started to arrange Mentari's freshly curled hair. She pinned the left side up, leaving the rest of it to curl around her shoulders. It was just how Mentari had wanted her hair done. It set the dress off just right, in her opinion. And the curls would make her veil sit better. It was sheer white, shoulder length and was trimmed with lace. "Are you nervous?" Faizah asked quietly. At Mentari's nodd, Faizah smiled. "Don't worry about it. Everyone is happy for you and Tad." She whispered. ((Decided to forgoe the previously chosen stuff for some things more simple.))

Tad couldn't do it.
He just couldn't. The only thing keeping him from grabbing Kimath and fleeing was the academic knowledge that grooms were always terrified. He still had a strong desire to go Between without benefit of a dragon.
It didn't help that the tux, rented from a nearby town, didn't fit him perfectly. There was no sense buying one when he knew how unlikely it was that he would ever use it again. If the world didn't stop ending he was going to Pern, and formalwear there was just a bit differently.
He'd realized he had no close friends other than Mentari and, to an extent, Faizah. After wracking his brain he'd asked Kain to stand as best man. It sucked that he had nobody else and he knew he had to fix that. Afterwards. The entire Weyr, pretty much, was invited and the reception was being done by the same people who handled post-Hatching feasts.
It would go well. And he loved Mentari. So, why did he feel as if his heart was in his boots, why did he have such a strong desire to run? He wasn't afraid of commitment...especially not one he had already made in his deepest being.
Nah.
It was probably just stage fright. That had to be it. Stage fright.

Kain came up next to Tad, clapping a hand on his shoulder. He could see how nervous the boy looked. But Kain had seen many a nervous groom. He had ten older brothers, eight of them married, after all.
"You going to be okay?" He asked. You never knew what a nervous groom would do. His oldest brother, Henry, had vomited on the Priest.
---
Mentari was completely dressed, ready to go. Faizah had gone off to make sure everyone else was ready. Nakia, who was Mentari's only bridesmaid, was grumpy about her baby bump ruining her figure in her dress.
It was a simple, full length smokey gray colored dress, layered with satin and sheer fabric. Mentari had chosen it partially because of Nakia's baby bump, but also because it looked nice. And Nakia had insisted that it complimented Mentari's wedding dress.
Faizah reappeared, a small smile on her face. "Everything is ready. Just waiting for Tad and Kain to take their places." She told her sister.

Tad emerged, adjusting his tie. He really still wanted to go Between without a dragon. Kain's presence helped, but it only helped a little bit.
And Mentari, of course, looked absolutely gorgeous. She'd lost almost all of her weight from giving birth to the twins, looking like the girl he had first seen. Of course, she hadn't been that svelte for most of their relationship...the twins had come along pretty quickly.
Still. She looked stunning. Even Nakia did to a point...she was pregnant again too, despite precautions. Would birth control work for Mentari? It didn't seem to work well on Pandoras. There was even a rumor the Weyrwoman had managed to catch.
Too many children, right now...and he pushed it out of his mind. The world could end tomorrow, but he would still have the love of his life.
Cobweb, apparently not wanting to be left out, appeared from Between and landed on his left shoulder. The flit had better not damage the rented tux...it would be hard to explain.

Faizah nodded to Mentari as she noticed Tad take his place. Kain appeared a moment later, taking his place next to Tad. Faizah hurried to her seat, gesturing that the band start playing now. At the beginning of the music, Nakia stepped up and got ready to walk down the aisle.
At the last second she winked at Mentari, giving her a smile. "It's going to be fine. And you look beautiful, Mentari." She finished. Then she took her first step towards where the men were already gathered.
Mentari smiled at Nakia, grateful for her encouragement. Then she waited. Once Nakia reached the end of the aisle, it would be Mentari's turn. And she would know when she should start walking by the different music. The Bridal March was going to be played on the violin instead of on piano. Faizah had offered to play it for her.
Just as Nakia reached the end, and took a stance where she had been shown, Faizah stood up. She went over to where the band was playing, and struck the first note. She smiled towards where Mentari was waiting. The entire congregation got to their feet, glancing behind them to Mentari.
She took a deep breath, gathering her courage with so many eyes on her, and took the first step down the aisle. It felt like forever before she was standing next to Tad, and Faizah had stopped playing. She turned to Tad, a smile on her face. She couldn't believe she was about to marry this man, whom she adored.

Tad had honestly expected that when he got married, it would be in a church, but that had been out of the question.
The dragons would emphatically *not* fit in a church...well, they might fit in a big church, but they'd never get through the door. He glanced over at Kimath, whom he had oiled until he shone and who was watching from behind the human audience. He had, indeed, got across to the blue that he, in basic terms, made 'a better door than a window' and should stay at the back.
Sometimes he found it hard to believe he was life bonded to such an awesome being. And now he was about to be life bonded to another. A different kind of life bond, perhaps an older one...he did not know how long the Pernese had had dragons, but he would lay bets they had had weddings for far longer.
Faizah, playing the march. And...there she was. Coming up the aisle, hidden under her veil. Now there was an outdated tradition, but tradition it was. Earth tradition, not Pernese, although they might steal some things from the latter. Some of the recipes at the reception were certainly not from Earth.

Mentari smiled as she came to stand in front of Tad. She couldn't help but look around slightly, seeing everyone that had come for the wedding. And while she was happy to be marrying Tad, she was embarrassed that she was the center of attention. Well, she and Tad were.
Ladeth, who was behind Kimath, sent Mentari waves of calm. Mentari needed them. She was so nervous that her stomach was starting to churn. She silently thanked her dragon, taking another deep breath. She was about to be married to Tad, and she refused to be anything but happy about it!
((Didn't have much to comment on. Sorry...))

Okay. Tad swallowed his nerves...and wondered how Mentari managed to look so utterly, unadulteredly happy. Well. They had put this off long enough.
Seeking her eyes with his, he noted that she was glancing at the crowd. Oddly, that small sign of what might be nerves made him feel a little happier about the situation. Which was probably mean, but...it was reality, and this was all reality.
They had each other and they had the twins. And their dragons...Ladeth looked almost smug, he noted. She couldn't remember that first flight, and that had not really sealed their relationship...but she clearly wanted to take draconic responsibility.
Taking a deep breath, Tad turned towards the officiant. He was as ready as he was going to get for this...as ready, he thought, as any young man could be.

((Maybe I should just overwrite the vows? Make them say 'I do', but without hearing the Priest say it.))

((Alright))
Mentari also turned to the Priest, but her attention was on Tad. And she couldn't stop smiling, at all. She was so very happy that it didn't matter to her that the world was possibly ending. Or that they may have to evacuate to Pern, where they might not be welcomed.
She was only half listening to the vows. They had gone with semi-traditional vows, altering them only where it was needed. Besides, a wedding between dragonriders would call for slightly differing vows. Flights were dirty business, afterall.
"Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?" The Priest asked, looking at Mentari.
She nodded. "I do." She said with a smile, her eyes gleaming happily.

And this was it...this was the moment. If Mentari hesitated over her I do, Tad didn't notice, but then, he barely heard his beloved say the words.
Then it was his turn. "Do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do." He didn't hesitate, in the end, when the moment was on him. Simple words that sealed things forever, even as he turned slightly to claim Mentari's ring from Kain. Plain, of course, for a woman who used her hands as much as a rider must...no gems to catch on riding straps.
The feeling that it was done was starting to wash over him. That he really had committed to spend the rest of his life with this beautiful woman. However long it ended up being.

Mentari waited for Tad to put her ring on, then she did the same. They were simple bands, no jewels, which suit Mentari just fine. She wasn't into the jewelry bit as much as, say, Nakia. but she didn't want to think about that at this moment.
She was still smiling as she turned to Tad. She moved her veil out of the way, knowing what the Priest would say next. And soon, they could escape the crowd watching them. Mentari was getting really tired of being the center of attention...!
"I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride."

A lot of wedding kisses were decorous affairs.
Tad.
Was not about to be decorous. He was letting the entire Weyr know how important Mentari was to him...and he was also young and very much a man. Unless she managed to somehow resist, she was going to get...
...a full blown dip and kiss. (And yes, he DID plan on carrying her across the threshold later...maybe not that much later, depending on how quickly they could disappear from the reception).

Mentari was not expecting the kiss she got. In fact, she was expecting a soft kiss, more of a peck on the lips really. But she wasn't going to complain about what she did get. When Tad kissed her, she laughed slightly. Her smile was only growing, until she felt like she was grinning like an idiot.
The worst of the wedding was over. From here on out, everyone would have the banquet to entertain them. And she was already feeling better, with everyone's attention already dissipating to thoughts of dinner. Mentari grabbed Tad's hand and began pulling him down the aisle, back from where she had come.
With the exit of the bride and groom, everyone rose to their feet.
