Appearance: Rafael is decidedly German. Everything about him is German in some way, save for the clothes that he's had to buy in North America. Rafael has a stocky build, and stands at nearly six feet tall. Despite his size, Rafael is a gentle man. He has artist's hands in that he can keep very still, making him the ideal man for precision work. Rafael tends to wear dress clothes, his preferred colors being brown or gray. His light brown/blond hair just barely touches his collar, provided it's straight. As it stands, Rafael's hair is curly and neatly covers his whole head, and the tops of his ears. His eyes are blue, making him nearly Aryan, if it wasn't for his hair, and his imperfect eyesight. He wears brown, rectangular glasses that sit low on his nose. While he promotes being clean-shaven, Rafael doesn't mind a little stubble on his own person, as long as he shaves it before it becomes too long.

Personality: Studius, Interested, Meticulous
As a university professor, Rafael likes to spend most of his time in the library. He is a fan of studying, and believes whole-heartedly that one can never stop learning, and there will always be new things to discover. Along with this, Rafael is also an interested person. He likes to explore new things, and welcomes new challenges. If he could, he would spend an hour or two just sitting outside and watching the people that walked by. It's for this reason that his parents wonder why he didn't go into psychology. While he may be a cheery and generally well-mannered person, Rafael is known for his precision. He's a stickler for details, and will often have people repeat things many times to make sure they get the facts straight, or he has written them down correctly.

History: Born and raised in Munich, Germany, Rafael's parents were both Catholic Germans. He was named for the archangel, Raphael, which became his first name, and his grandfather, Linus (his middle name). Rafael grew up speaking German, as both of his parents did so. However, when he was 19, Rafael wanted to go to college in America, to visit a different country. He applied to many colleges and universities, but ultimately attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, and earned his PhD. While in the United States, Rafael learned English. He is rather fluent in the language, but he still makes mistakes, and speaks with a thick German accent. He returned to Germany for a year to visit his parents and friends, but moved to Vancouver in Canada to teach history at University Canada West. He heard rumors about giant fire-breathing monsters living in the Rocky Mountains nearby, and is eager to see and study them, and further expand his knowledge of history.
