Name: Ayashan/ A'shan
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: He forgot. (Blank slate, really. We shall see if Azulith flies...)
Appearance: Tall, very tall- he's around six-foot-two, with a lean build that yet has the muscles one gains with the work of caring for and riding a dragon. Pale-ish skin, very fine and almost porcelain-like in coloring (pale with cream/pale gold highlights). No noticeable scars for the most part, though he has a very small circular brand on his forehead from a past incident, along with another on his back (a tattoo from his Weyr of a stylized dragon; something his wing came up with and all did, though he doesn't remember this.)
His hair is solid black, left to grow out long recently, though he once kept it much shorter and tied back. His eyes are a smoky grey-black, making him hard to read at times, as his eyes show little expression. He prefers no real set style of clothing, only having his searchriding leathers (a standard rider's outfit, though with a more prominent Weyr symbol) and some loose button-down shirts and pants he borrowed from Lorelei.
He's rather handsome, in a slightly pretty way, though he's hardly effeminate despite his long hair. He tends to speak softly, though his voice is strong, and he seems to always have a blank, stern, or slightly worried expression on his face.

History: This is the History A'shan is currently aware of.
He woke up in the arms of a surprisingly strong young woman, remembering nothing but his name, and that of the great blue beast beside him. He knows he's forgetting something important, but what? He traveled with Lorelei to Rocky at her insistence and that of Azulith, who seemed to be able to communicate through signs and sounds well enough to convince him to follow the Dragon's orders.
His actual History is this: (Ages marked as he tends to remember things out of sequence, but with his age correct.)
He's a rider for High Reaches, in a small but close-knit wing of sweepriders and searchers, who alternate between search missions and acting as a last-line group, catching the small clumps of thread that fall between the larger wings due to their dragon's agility.
He was born at a minor hold near Telgar's jurisdiction, but an argument between his father and the Holder got his father slain (entirely by accident, as it was not intended for the duel to be fatal) and his family banished and marked as holdless by the brand on his forehead. His mother, sister, and he traveled with a small caravan of other holdless, making a living by selling their wares at Gathers and seeking shelter in the trader's caves during threadfall. (Age: 9)
It was just after one such fall that Ayashan was sent out to gather some wood for a fire, and came across a pair of riders who'd taken to ground to apply numbweed to the brownrider's dragon's threadscore before returning to the weyr. Ayashan was stunned, and tried to sneak away, but the bluerider caught sight of him and grabbed him, thinking him just a stupid kid exploring. The mark of the holdless gave the rider pause for but a second, then he sighed and took the boy back to the brownrider. There was good reason; the blue and brown both agreed that despite the fact it was a little early to begin the search for High Reaches' latest clutch, the dragons were sure in their decision. With but a moment to bid farewell to his mother, Ayashan was taken to High Reaches to stand. (Age: 15)
He did too, his first and last time standing for Impression. He'd almost given up hope, afraid he'd have to leave the Weyr and go back to being a holdless no-one, when a small blue egg split neatly down the middle, sending the hatchling tumbling out nearly into his lap. It was a lean blue, perfect but for one headknob, which was bent and crooked-looking. The dragon took one look at him, crooned, and both of them felt the initial rush of amazement as the dragon's eyes glowed with all the colors of the rainbow. But nothing was spoken.
When one of the riders asked him what his new partner's name was, Ayashan panicked. He knew he'd impress, knew it to the very bottom of his soul, but he had no idea what the dragons name was. He shared a terrified confused look with the dragon, who was shaking and pawing very gently at him, almost begging for something. So Ayashan guessed.
"Azulith." He'd said, making it up on the spot; he'd taken an old Terran word for blue and changed it only slightly; but still, no one seemed to notice. So A'shan and Azulith came to be. (Age: 15)
Azulith never spoke once to A'shan even after, nor could he sense the dragon's emotions in any way. Still, they each knew the choice was right, so they began to develop other ways to communicate; Azulith learned to very clearly display his emotions with his body, and through sounds; he is even able to make crude drawings of what he wants should he have enough space. (They spent a lot of time by the hatching sands figuring out how to write in the sand.) A'shan can simply speak to Azulith, and even speak directly to the dragon mentally, but he will never get a response. They functioned just fine throughout their training, no one ever catching on to their secret. (Age: 16-18)
Their first flight was terrifying for both. Azulith nearly caught a full clump of thread to his side, and A'shan watched a greenrider he'd gone through weyrling lessons with go between. Azulith and A'shan began to train harder to perfect each signal to eachother; Azulith began to develop an immensely wide range of vocals, and A'shan figured out a way to signal the blue with the slightest touch. (Age: 19)
Then they joined their wing; it was made up of a small group A'shan was already familiar with, and the most skilled, fast, and agile flyers the Weyr had. They grew very close to each other, referring to each other jokingly as brothers and sisters, even going to far as to tattoo their own wingsymbol one each of them as a promise to remain close no matter what. A'shan was taken aback, because despite the Weyrs not normally having any real prejudices, he'd been the butt end of jokes and teasing for being a marked Holdess. (Age: 21)
A'shan began to take on the role of a searchrider too, finding candidates for High Reaches' hatchings. He was partnered with the same bluerider who'd searched him, and the man's Brownrider weyrmate. (An already well-established pair of searchriders; they were given to task of teaching A'shan the ropes. (Age: 22)
He had been a searchrider for four years when it went bad. People began to wonder why Azulith had never flown a green, and began to spread rumors about the holdless boy having hatched a defected dragon- the knowledge of Rocky was new, but it had been made known to a certain few. They began to say the holdless boy had of course gotten a 'broken' dragon; he wasn't good enough to hatch a perfect dragon.
He ignored all the remarks, as Azulith had made clear that he did not wish to fly yet, because his inability to bespeak others shamed him; they already thought he was cold and rude and aloof because he never spoke even another dragon; he did not wish to so insult any mate he may or may not have won.
He and his 'teachers' were given coordinates to search, but something went wrong. In a rush to deliver a pair of Fire Lizard eggs on their way, the brownrider gave the wrong coordinates; The three riders ended up in a strange place they did not recognize. They landed to get their bearings, rest (for it had been an abnormally long and difficult jump) and try again, but they never noticed the small but vicious canines creeping up; neither did their dragons. The brownrider was taken by surprise, and fell back, catching A'shan as she did. He stumbled back, falling to the ground; but the brownrider broke her neck. Her dragon screamed and jumped between instantly, and the second bluerider panicked, and, without even fully dismounting, sent the coordinates for High Reaches. The dragon leaped just high enough to make the trip and vanished back to Pern. A'shan had hurt himself, and was unable to stand. The wild canines (dingoes, if you must know) continued to stalk closer until Azulith fought them off and chased them away with flame from the last few pieces of firestone A'shan had not quite emptied from his side packs.. But A'shan had been pounced on by one before Azulith had landed (he'd been trying to figure out where they were from the air) and had been knocked backwards into a sharp stone, hitting his head. He was unconscious before Azulith ever got there.
(Age: 26)
When he awoke, he was in a tent with a strange woman who introduced herself as Lorelei, remembering only his name and Azulith's.
(They were unable to return to Pern because A'shan had no memory, and couldn't give the coordinates. Azulith couldn't say anything to jar his memory, so they were stuck. it was only when Lorelei said she might know of a place where others like the big blue might be that they ended up travelling to Rocky. They were lucky they ran into a crazy conspiracy-theorist.)
Firelizard Name: None. Derp~
Firelizard Color: Also None.
Dragon Name: Azulith
Dragon Color:
Blue Azulith- A noble blue color. Somewhere between deep cerulean and indigo. He's a mostly matte color all over, but for a series of pale circles in a lighter royal blue on his forehead, in a 'V'-shape descending between his eyeridges, and a similar marking on his keelbone.
He's your very typical blue, though perhaps a little leaner and tougher than most; he's been working himself to the bone all his life to prove his worth to his wing. Truthfully, for a blue, though he's no larger or smaller than the average, he's longer, with a very long tail and body giving him a greyhound-like look.
He's got a very faint threadscore scar on his back, above his left shoulder, from his first flight. Now one can only barely make out a pale mark.
Dragon Defect/Injury: Mute; can make audible sounds like normal, but is completely incapable of telepathic communication. He can hear and receive telepathic communications, but he is utterly unable to project in ANY way; even his rider can't communicate with him that way. He did not even speak his name to A'shan at Impression.
BTW: Azulith is 10 1/2 years of age, hatched in late spring.
Firelizard
Blue Lazuli
Rejects Change. Still young, so he's spent most of his time sleeping, eating, and getting to know the big quietshinyblueone his human is so fond of.
(Azulith hasn't made his feelings towards the flitter clear.)
Born: April 7, 2010

The egg that A'shane was holding fractured abrubtly. When the egg shell flaked away a dark blue was seen. He turned about in a circle a few times before he gazed at A'shane. The blue opened his mouth and squawked, demanding to be fed.
