One: is there a character limit?
I have an idea for my candidate, but I had another idea [below] and i didnt want to have too many characters.

Two: An Idea for candidates/weyrlings. [Lurking thru Defect idea thread and found one I wanted to run with.]

I was wondering if I could make a rather bizarre weyrling pair? It is actually a trio...
I liked the idea someone posted about a doublebond. Except it would be two humans one dragon?

The idea is mostly the candidates/riders are identical twins, always really close [creepily so] in the finish-the-others-sentences way. Probably the type of twin born from a single embyro, maybe even they were connected but separated at birth [like siamese twins not like given to different homes separated].

The male twin is kind of assertive and definitely too protective of his sister. The girl is calm and reserved and uses her brother as a sheild. [You can ignore my halfhearted characters there. I'll expand on them later if this works out.]

The girl is picked for a hatching and impresses but when she hears the dragons voice so does her brother [in the audience for solidarity]. The dragon chose both of them. They both hear and feel the dragon, and s/he responds to both of them as its bonded.

I imagine a dragon like that would probably be either a green or a brown, though possibly blue. Obviously one of the metallics would never choose someone with a personality weakness like theirs I think.

I think that would be odd enough to get them a transfer.

[Alternately, they could be transfered because the girl was chosen for a hatching but was deemed too weak willed and she and her brother were sent to the 'defect' weyr where people had heard that even greens could clutch; sent to stand for a so called "inferior" hatching.

That too is an idea; pernese candidates who couldnt impress at a regular hatching sent to Rocky because they deem green clutches as unnatural and/or inferior, so the 'failed' candidates might have a chance with a greens clutch instead of a golds?

But I dont want to force a defect baby on people who already have their hatchings and hatchling babies planned so obviously this is just a kind of alternate option.]

After all that unneeded babbling would yonder mods [or anyone with an opinion] think that would work?

1. No. The general consensus is you can have as many characters as you can keep up with.

2. Ehh. I'm not going to lie, I'm against two people with one dragon. We did have a two-headed dragon before, but... Two riders? For one, if such people were so similar before, why did the dragons Search one and not the other? Simply because they were away at the time? Otherwise, the other twin would have been Searched, and selected as well. It's kinda a far-fetched idea for me. Not to mention that the reason people can have multiple firelizards is because the telepathic link is weaker. The bond between a dragon and its rider is so strong, they feel each other's emotions. I kinda get the feeling that dividing that bond between two people would be hard on the dragonet. It would be overwhelming strain on the dragon. Like if two dragons were to bond with one person, the person would be overwhelmed--of course, I think we also had a rider with two dragons, but that might just be me making things up.

Either way, I'd be against it simply for the strain put on the young dragon's mind... However, I have no say in what the administrators accept/decline.

Candidates who don't Impress at Pern aren't going to be sent to Rocky to Impress at a so-called 'inferior hatching'. Candidates will Stand at a hatching until they are too old to Impress, or Impress to a dragon. Not to mention that we've gone with the assumption that greens don't clutch because firestone makes them infertile. Rocky has no need for firestone, thus our greens clutch. I mentioned over here that the Pernese wouldn't fine it unnatural--just unorthodox since their greens don't clutch.

I'll admit I don't like the idea of two riders for one dragon any more than Phazzy did. The scenario you present would make them basically the same person, and I'm pretty sure that no matter how the twins were created or born, they would be separate people enough to each get their own dragon.

Perhaps instead you can have a double yolk egg and a set of twins. I don't know what the higher-ups would say, but it could happen. Maybe...

I dont like the idea of two people sharing a dragon either. No matter how alike they are. But we have had adouble headed dragon once and also a set of twin dragonets impress to one rider. Theres also split personalities that could be used.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, that twins are rare to begin with on Pern--not to mention conjoined twins. As such, the Pernese wouldn't know how to separate them unless it was a tiny, tiiiny thing. Like a hand. Or a finger.

I've seen double yolks before. The dragons always end up Impressing two different people... Unless that's not what you meant, Wesku, so I'm being slow.

With split personalities, keep in mind that the Pernese wouldn't let just anyone Stand. Candidates with mental problems and physical deformities are rare. Dragons aren't house decorations--they require attention and care. They're used to fight Thread. If a candidate doesn't show that they can do this, I doubt the Pernese would allow them to Stand.

What I meant by split-personalities is minor ones. Like Isath's double personalities. One would be mainly dormant unless triggered by something, and then it would still be such a subtle change that no one would really notice it.
