As light glimmered off the snow that still clung to tree branches and the ground, nature was settling in for the night. Birds chirped, heading back to nests to sleep, blissfully unaware that even as the Terrain sun set, another sun was to Rise in its place. Nothing was to stop this one, it would Rise, and with its awakening, confusion would follow. Forest animals curried underfoot, and in the waning light, predators sought out their prey. The mountains were bathed in the orange glow of sunset, heralding night's arrival. The sun gave up the fight, resigning to allow the moon take over. Brynath's eyes shot open, a pair of red-tinged blue orbs in the shadows of the approaching twilight. I'm hungry, he muttered, standing up from the stone couch and padding over to where his room connected with his rider's. Come, Hy'ka. The phrase was a command, giving the weyrling no choice. Hy'ka looked up from the scroll he was pouring over. "You've got to be kidding me. Look at the time. You had something to eat this morning... If you didn't eat enough then, maybe you should eat some more in the morning," he coached, lowering the scroll to look at the blue. "Brynath..." Hy'ka gave the dragon a confused look. "Have you always been glowing?" Hy'ka stood, pushing back the chair to walk over to Brynath. He placed a hand on the dragon’s snout, giving him a little scratch. “You can wait until morning.” No, the blue growled, This cannot wait until morning! I will go without you. He pulled away from Hy’ka’s touch, much to his surprise, and swiftly exited his room with a flap of his wings. He dove, gaining speed, then pulled up to propel himself forward with his speed. He directed his body towards the feeding grounds, a thirst for flesh plaguing his mind. Jumping back at Brynath’s sudden moodiness, the weyrling hugged his arm, as if Brynath nearly took off the hand attached there. Brynath! he called, hurrying to the weyr ledge, and watching as the blue flew away. “Brynath!” Hy’ka gave the dragon a confused look. “What is going on with him…?” he asked the air, hanging his head and walking back to the scroll he left on the desk. He was about to sit down when the fact of the matter dawned on him. Brynath wasn’t an ordinary blue. He was also a green. Both male and female. The weyrling’s eyes widened. “ Brynath!” he cried out loud and mentally. Blood only! Blood only! Blood. Only. Brynath, listen to me!I told you, but did you listen? Brynath growled, feeling temperamental. He glowed, a light in the enlarging shadows of twilight, and angled his wings to glide down towards the feeding pens. He spotted a sleepy bull, and marked that one as his target. His wings started to close, drastically increasing his speed until it was like an arrow hitting its mark. The blue barreled into the bull, and it hardly had time to register what had happened before Brynath snapped it’s neck. Hungrily, the blue bent over to sink his teeth into the neck of the fallen beast. Blood only! Hy’ka repeated, struggling to pull on his boots, and hopping on one foot as he slipped the boot on the other. Blood, Brynath! Blood! Don’t weigh yourself down with meat! “Auugh!” he exclaimed, falling over with his foot only half-way in the boot. “Stop stop stop! This cannot be happening… Ohhh…” He so wasn’t ready for this. Hy’ka crawled on the floor in a comical fashion, and pulled himself into a sitting position, where he finally managed to get his boots on. How could Brynath be Rising? Wouldn’t he have seen it--Oh it was so true. Brynath was glowing for the past few days. How did he not notice? Hy’ka stood up and threw open the door, practically screaming his frustration down the hallway, “Ooooh Bryyyynaaaaaaath!” The blue growled at His telling him what to do, but the will of Hy’ka won out over the dragon’s. He snorted, and dug his snout into the flesh of the beast, and sucked greedily. Yes… As soon as he had drained that one dry, Brynath quickly pounced on another one nearby, crushing its ribcage as the giant dragon landed on it with all his weight. Males! Burying his muzzle into the second bull and finishing that one off without a second thought. Chase! Come and Chase your Brynath, males! the hermaphrodite crooned.

Gruulath's head shot up as he heard the call of Blue Brynath in his mind. The large Brown had been soaring above his jogging rider with his head trained downwards like usual until the surge of lust and want crept up on him with about as much stealth as charging wher. Calling down to his rider briefly, Gruulath altered his course and winged towards the feeding grounds. He would need to bloody.
Spotting the Blue take to the air, Gruulath rumbled in appreciation before dropping on his kill. Fastening his muzzle against the warm flesh of the herdbeast's throat, Gruulath drained it of blood and lifted his head to watch the glowing Brynath soar for a bit as he too entered the air.
I have come to Chase you, Brynath.
---
T'sai didn't have time to reply to his Brown before the hulking dragon was gone. T'sai didn't mind. The first Flight had been when Gruulath was still depressed. Sure the lust and dissatisfied haze had caused Gruulath to re-open their connection and talk again, but the Brown hadn't really gotten a chance to enjoy himself. Perhaps this Flight woulf be different. Even if Gruulath didn't catch, at least he had chased with his full potential.
The Brownrider didn't have long to think about his Brown's past state of mind when the lust of the Flight suddenly came crashing down on him. Stumbling, T'sai cursed in his mind. This was the second time he had been caught outside running when a dragon rose. He must be cursed. Relaxing his hold on his mind, T'sai followed instinct to Hy'ka's location.

Relanth had been dozing contentedly in his weyr when Brynath called. Immediately the blue was up, calling to hisTahli.
I chase blue Brynath!
Tahli was reading a rather good book from the library when she heard Relanth's determination, followed closely by the sound of his wings catching the night air. She jumped up and to the weyrledge, watching her blue head quickly for the feeding grounds. She could see glowing Brynath already in the sky, followed by a brown that could have been any of them in the Weyr, but she had a feeling it was Gruulath.
Relanth reached the feeding grounds, landing on an unsuspecting bovine. He quickly blooded it, then moved on to another and blooded before launching himself into the sky after the glowing form of Brynath.
Tahli had no more time to think of what Relanth was doing, as the flightlust of her dragon hit her. Without thinking about it at all she left her weyr, instinctively heading for Hy'ka's whereabouts.
((I looked to make sure that Relanth was old enough, and at about one and a half years old, he should be able to Chase. If that's not the case, tell me and I'll delete my post.))

Having finished the second of the two meals, Brynath growled lowly, and paced away from the broken remains of the bull. He flared his wings, beating them once, and letting out a roar. The blue was glowing with more green than usual in his hide, made slightly orange by the dimming sunlight. Gruulath and Relanth arrived, in that order, and made their declarations to Chase him. He lowered his head and inspected the two dragons. Only two males dare Chase the stunning blue? Even with two suitors, they would have to try hard to beat out the other for rights to Brynath. Fine. Chase me if you dare. Come on then, my males! The blue pushed off with his hind legs, taking to the sky, and only looked back once to see if the brown and the blue were following. Hy’ka was only a few steps outside of his weyr when Brynath Rose. “Brynath!” he hissed through his teeth. This was all so unexpected… Not to mention that Brynath was a blue. Wouldn’t it be awkward and confusing for the other dragons? Evidently not, as proved by Gruulath’s and Relanth’s determination to Chase. Brynath… The weyrling placed his hand on the wall, and his head fell forward so that his chin rested on his chest. He sighed heavily, feeling Brynath’s Flight lust making its way into Hy’ka’s body. Gruulath’s rider was… T’sai. Relanth had Tahli. Either one would be fine, and the choice was Brynath’s. Filling with a burning lust, Brynath pressed his wings harder to pull himself ahead of his suitors. As a blue and green mix, he had the agility advantage, not to mention the stamina advantage over greens. But he was young, just barely one turn. Experience was not something one hatched with. He had to earn it. Limbs pressed against his body, the stream-lined Brynath angled his wings to sharply bank to the left. He trumpeted to his suitors, and flapped once, heading towards the snow-topped mountains surrounding Rocky Weyr. The fading light didn’t help the sight of the dragons, and one wasn’t in the right mindset to Chase or Rise at this time. Lust makes one do crazy things. The blue propelled himself through the sky like a dart. Once he saw that he had gained enough distance, he slowed, conserving energy, and snaked back and forth through the air, his tail temptingly flicking with each change in direction. Brynath purred. They were Chasing. He liked that. Not yet was Brynath going to tire, his mind rebelled against what his body might be saying. Setting his eyes on the mountain peaks ahead, Brynath spurred himself forward. He snorted, folding his wings, and dropping down a couple of feet only to level out again.

Gruulath rumbled deep in his throat at Blue Brynath's challenge as he too off after the Blue. The smaller dragons might have had the advantage with their swiftness, but Gruulath had more endurance than either of them. If push came to shove, he would wait the magnificent Blue out of the sky.
Turning after each pin-point twirl of the Blue, Gruulath chose to roll through the turns. Rolling was more impressive than banking, and Gruulath wanted Brynath to know that he was making an effort. When the Blue dropped, Gruulath followed suit but stayed slightly above Brynath so that he could better see and react to the Blue's sudden and swift moves. Gruulath rumbled again. This time it was in praise. The Blue was indeed something that Gruulath had decided to have.
The Brown wondered if impressing the Blue was worth the momentary loss of time in the chase. The smaller Blue chaser would have an even greater advantage over the already slower Brown. Deciding to go ahead with his plan, Gruulath rose higher into the air until he was nearly at Brynath's old height. Then he dropped down and somersaulted while flaring his wings out to look bigger and more imposing then he really was. The movement may have looked better with a smaller dragon, but the Brown was confident he had pulled it off acceptably.
Banking hard, Gruulath returned to his former position of trying to out-fly the Blue chaser and stay with Brynath

Relanth took off behind the brown Gruulath. He was determined to Chase and win Brynath, and Relanth wasn't going to let the superior stamina of the brown stop him. Even if he had to fly until his wings broke under the stress, he intended to catch the glowing Brynath.
In an attempt to show off for Brynath, Relanth began to gain momentum. Then, with a daring Relanth didn't know he had, he pulled his wings in and began to spin in tight cirlces. Relanth looked much like the head of an electric screwdriver (for lack of a better explanation). Soon, however, he began to lose some altitude as his stunt continued. With a relish Relanth spread his wings, which caught the air in a whoosh and a painful yank of the joint. It effectively stopped his spirals, but now he was both below and behind Brynath and the other suitor.
Relanth beat his wings powerfully and easily caught up with the brown. With another powerful thrust of his wings, Relanth was past Gruulath, and slightly above Brynath. Content with his position in the chase so far, Relanth sailed slightly. He allowed his wing tip to graze Brynath's body was Relanth's wings gave a down stroke.

Gruulath had spunk. Brynath gave him that, Chasing a blue-green. But he followed with a lazy ease that came with browns. Not acrobatic enough to make the same turns as a green, instead settling for smoother flying. Browns were a nice blend of the other colors, weren't they? Brynath tilted his head to eye the brown as he Chased. Yes, he might be half-blind, but what was that supposed to mean? He had experience, skill, determination. Each of those, the blue admired. The blue crooned in satisfaction, and turned his head to the other side to inspect how the Relanth was doing. He certainly was a show-off, using his smaller size to his advantage in gaining speed faster than the brown. Brynath's eyes began to whirl in various shades of red as he saw what the other blue was doing. Pulling in his wings to spin like a corkscrew. At first, Brynath was impressed, and drifted in front of Relanth. Yes, impress him. Good job. Make the Rising dragon enjoy your spectacle. It wouldn't be worth much if you were dead though. Relanth fell, and without concern for the other dragon, Brynath returned to fly in front of Gruulath. The brown took over as the show-off, Brynath had noticed. He flared his wings, and the lust-blinded mind of Brynath took it as Gruulath literally increasing his size. Impressive. He bugled a call to the dragons, knowing now that Relanth was not out of the Flight. Keeping at an even pace, Brynath allowed the two suitors to get near him, closer to his glowing body. Gruulath just behind, and Relanth above. He liked the company of the two, and Brynath flew in that formation for a moment. At least, until Relanth's bold move threw the blue into a fit. On a downstroke, the tip of the other blue's wing dragged along Bryanth's back. With a screech, Brynath pulled away. He shuddered at the touch, a cold sweat rippling down his back from the point of origin. He pushed his wings harder, and gained momentum by diving down once again, though the mountains that loomed ahead looked foreboding. No touch! he spat, an almost bestial edge to his voice. Brynath opened his maw to screech again, baring his white teeth. No touch. They would not touch him. Winner... touch... The phrase was wher-like, and there was a hidden fury in Brynath's eyes. Only the winner may touch, and he wasn't about to pick a suitor just yet. Hy'ka gasped at the air, and flipped over so that he now had his back to the wall, as opposed to propping himself up with a hand. Brynath... At any moment, Hy'ka expected to see the riders of the Chasing dragons come jogging down the hallway. Whether or not they actually did was up to them. He stood upright, letting out a large sigh, and ran a hand through his hair again. "Oh Brynath..." he panted, pulling at his billowy shirt that now stuck to his skin with sweat. Prepared to take a step, Hy'ka started forward, only to be thrown back against the wall by a sensation from Brynath. He screwed his eyes shut, and banged the back of his head against the wall. "Ahh--" he shuddered, feeling a combination of Brynath's fury and his Flight lust. A snort came from the blue, and Brynath approached the mountain peaks at a dangerous speed. Let them try and touch him now... He smugly thought, swiftly shooting between two mountain tops, his wings barely grazing the rock face, and clipping a pinch of snow off of the sides. Soon after passing through the rocks, Brynath made a sharp left turn, perpendicular to the ground, and pulled between another, closer, pair of peaks. He wanted to see them do that. Certainly the brown would go over or around? Who had the courage to follow his tracks?

Gruulath backed off a little when he saw Brynath take a dangerous path between two mountain peaks. The Brown knew he couldn't follow through such a narrow gap that a Blue was almost too big for. Under normal circumstances, a chaser might turn on his side or fold his wings at just the right moment. Gruulath was confident he could get the timing down pat, but his lack of full depth perception prevented him from trying such a risky maneuver. He might be able to try in a few years after proper training to compensate for his disability, but for now, to try such a stunt would most likely result in injury or worse.
Growling in frustration, the Brown winged up and gained enough altitude to go over the peaks. Gruulath knew he would have to do something to make up for that short-coming, but now was not the time. He was flying dangerously fast through mountains with only one eye. He would have to bide his time and wait for the perfect opportunity. Gruulath was determined to win.
---
T'sai was thankful when he finally entered the hall that led to Hy'ka's weyr. The lake had never seemed so far from the Weyr as it seemed during a Flight. Next time he would have to try to be inside the Weyr when Gruulath decided to chase. Walking such a long distance was rather unpleasant in his lust addled state.
Reaching Hy'ka's room, T'sai stopped and leaned against the wall. He had done his part and made it to the rider of Brynath, now it was Gruulath's turn to catch the Blue before T'sai could make any sort of move.

Relanth followed a small distance behind Brynath, tilting his body vertically to go between and stay close to the glowing blue. When he reached the open air once again he found himself too close to Brynath and going too fast.
With a flourish Relanth dove steeply. He dove so steep in fact that he found himself doing somethign of a flip. Relanth followed through with the flip, bringing his wing in close to his body. When he was looking straight up at dark skies, he snapped his wings out and shot upwards, evening out a dragonlength above and a few feet behind Brynath.
Relanth was proud that he had managed to avoid a collision and turn it into something of a show.
---------------
Tahli suddenly found herself just down the hall from Hy'kas room. She could feel Relanths smugness about something he had done, but she was more concerned aout where she was. She could now see that Gruulaths rider, T'sai, was there as well.
She hoped the flight would end soon.

The bluerider gave T'sai and Tahli a nod and half a wink when they approached. That could just be his eyelid twitching, but Hy'ka gave it no thought. He exhaled deeply as he rested on the wall, trying to clam himself, though he was burning up with desire. Oh, couldn't Brynath just pick now? Or soon? How much more was the blue going to put his rider through? Hy'ka groaned and stood back up, instead of using the wall as a prop. Brynath, he growled mentally, let me know when you do that again...Pleased with his earlier maneuver, Brynath turned on his side to angle around another peak, also getting a look at the progress of his suitors before his slim, shining body passed behind more rocks. Gruulath went over the obstacle--probably the smartest thing to do considering his larger frame, but Brynath was less than satisfied. Gruulath was not willing to risk the chance? That could have made it for the brown. Relanth on the other claw was ready to show off again with a graceful aerial display. He followed through with Brynath, but overestimated his speed. As the other blue passed by with a tight tuck and roll, Brynath gave him a croon of delight. That caught his eye, despite his lack of control over his flight pattern. The Rising blue shot out from behind the mountain with a thundering roar, his mouth wide open and declaring his presence to the weyr. The light was fading, dimming, and Brynath was losing his sight. Relanth proved to be the more acrobatic of the two dragons, and that drew Brynath's attention. For his first Flight, Brynath already felt gladdened to have some of the better males Chasing. But now his limbs tired. Even with the excitement that came with a Flight, the blue couldn't keep it up for long. He had to pick a winner of the Flight, but not yet. Brynath was not done yet. He would finish when he said so, not when his muscles told him to. One last test, one last challenge for the suitors. He lifted his wings after gliding a short distance away from where he reappeared from behind the peak, and brought them down with a whoosh, directing his body upwards. This was it. The last challenge. Who would rise to it? Follow Brynath--that was the task. Follow him to the heavens above.

Gruulath growled at the smaller Blue's display. It irked the Brown that he had not been able to impress Brynath with some daring and fantastic flying through the mountains, but Gruulath couldn't catch if he was dead. Following the Blues quickly through the mountains, the Brown tried to make up for his previous failure by executing the same dangerous speed and turns that his competitor was executing.
When Blue Brynath decided to take to the heavens, Gruulath almost growled in fierce delight. Finally he would be able to show Brynath that he was just as good as any Blue. Checking the skies to make sure he was ample distance from either Blue, Gruulath beat his wings in a fierce display of raw power. He knew the Blues were tiring, and this was where his superior stamina would come in.
Easily overtaking the tiring Blues, Gruulath rose high into the sky until his wings seemed to touch the clouds themselves. He spread his wings as far as they would extend, showing off his huge and frightening figure. Then once he was sure he had both of their attentions, Gruulath folded his wings and dove. While he was diving, his body reaching impossible speeds, Gruulath twirled and rolled through the whipping air.
As the Brown's body plummeted below the Brynath's, Gruulath flicked his large wings out with ease, and somersaulted up and over the smaller dragon. Once he had finished that, Gruulath shifted his tail and flicked his wings so that he could circle Brynath as he rose before following the Blue back into the sky.

Relanth followed Brynath through the mountains, his mind on the rising blue instead of his brown competition. Wen Gruulath exacuted his impressive manuver, Relanth growled to himself.
It was his turn. And while he may be tiring Relanth was far from stopping this chase. He spread his wings out to their fullest extent, extended his neck and let out a roar that shook his entire body. He was just as feirce as the brown.
With a downstroke of his wings Relanth gained speed and rocketed into the sky. Perhaps not as far as Gruulath had gone, but at a speed that made him look like a blur of blue in the sky. Relanth, at the height of hi climb, spread his wings and leveled out. Then he pulled one in so that he climbed down in a lazy spiral. He fell lower than Brynath, but once again gained speed and rose back up, circling the glorious blue as Brynath climbed.

Even as Brynath climbed higher into the sky, urging his suitors to follow after him, he was overtaken by the large brown beast. Gruulath sped past the tiring Brynath and Relanth, presenting his gigantic form to the blue as he extended his wings above them. Brynath stared upwards at him--as if he could look away--and his mood was slightly soured. Showing off. That was good. Gruulath did that well. The brown overshadowed Brynath and Relanth, only to put on an impressive display as he pulled his wings in, and fell out of the sky. With a snort, Brynath pulled slightly to the side, out of the way of Gruulath, though he felt slightly restrained when the older brown continued his display by circling around him. He growled lowly, feeling a bit protective of himself. Brynath had to admire his dedication to prove himself over the blue that was clearly more agile. He risked the chance of Brynath nipping at his tail to put him back in line. Would that be enough though? With his strength waning, Brynath's instincts to pick a suitor started to take over. Pushing his muscles to the limit, Brynath continued to try and rise higher into the sky. The failing light--it was all but gone now. Twilight hour, it was dangerous. The lack of light made it hard for dragons to see, even the blue knew that. Relanth's roar reverberated through Brynath's body, and the other imitated Gruulath, speeding past Brynath into the sky. Relanth mimicked Gruulath, or did his best, and fell back to a point lower than Gruulath and Brynath. Both had gone above and beyond, literally speaking, in their attempts to give the other dragon a run for his marks. No longer annoyed at Gruulath's blatant disregard for his wishes, considering Relanth did the same, Brynath's lust-crazed mind somehow found the reasoning to forgive their trespasses on his requirements. Did both meet his expectations though? There was the real challenge. They both followed him into the sky, going past that to show off just above him. Brynath let out a bugle of contempt. Was he to Choose now? Putting on an extra burst of speed, Brynath pushed his aching muscles to one last end, pulling up ahead of the two suitors. With a low groan, the blue drew himself up higher and higher, until he was able to turn over and gaze down at his Chasers as they hung back. The lack of light made it hard to see which of the males was which, but Brynath's telepathic speech was more than enough to tell who had won the Flight. The blue pulled his body up and over in an arch, and hovered there for a split-second, before angling down and folding his wings against his body. He was falling now, falling from this dangerously high height. Now would his Chosen male catch him? A purr escaped Brynath's open mouth as he closed his eyes and darted down past the forms of Gruulath and Relanth. Will you let me fall? Relanth, do not let your Brynath fall! Catch me, my suitor! he crooned, half-opening his wings to let the blue catch him. At the height of Brynath's Flight, Hy'ka let out a bestial growl of pleasure. He tugged at his shirt, already itching to be rid of the clingy material. He felt the end of the Flight coming, as Brynath wasn't going to last very long. Brynath, he mentally huffed, opening his mouth slightly to let out a low, deep sigh. Don't... take too long... he whined, feeling fairly needy. The bluerider's eyes eagerly shifted between Tahli and T'sai. Being a man of no preference, either of them would do. When Brynath made his choice, the blue's voice ringing in Hy'ka's mind as well as the dragons', Hy'ka's vision settled on the fellow bluerider. "Tahli," he breathed, his shoulders falling in relief. "Tahli." Hy'ka beckoned with his head, a little jerk, and he turned around. He placed his hands gently on the door to his weyr, and took an experimental breath. Come on, go. Take her inside. Don't wait. You want this. Don't dawdle. Move your feet! Hy'ka furrowed his brow, looking back at the female one more time. He had only eyes for her now. A grin spread on his face, and Hy'ka's hand moved down to turn the doorknob. He opened the door and stepped inside, raising an arm to wave Tahli inside.

Relanth watched as Brynath rose into the sky. He tried to catch up, but before he could the blue began to fall from the background of dark sky and bright stars.
Relanth heard Brynath's voice within his mind, and he barely believed it. When Brynath began to fall, Relanth let out a victorious roar, then dived after his Brynath. Relanth pulled out of his dive so that he flew just above Brynath, then grabbed him and pulled him closer to his body. Relanth twined his tail and neck with Brynath's, his head resting side by side with the other blue's, and folded his wings in as they rocketed to the ground.
Tahli was assaulted by Relanth's lust, and she hurried after Hy'ka. Her eyes were glued on him, for better or for worse, as she followed Hy'ka into his weyr.
(Crappy post for Tahli, I know. But that's all that came to mind...)
