The morning was crisp and cool, the sky a pretty gray blue when Missy left the weyr where Nakia was sleeping soundly. Her hide was glowing brightly, her eyes twirling an interesting combination of red and violet in her lust.
Missy spread her wings and caught the breeze. She was a few yards from her weyr before she trumpeted to all the males. She was Rising and the males should come and Chase for the chance to claim a prize such as she!
As Missy waited for her Chasers she dropped down on an unsuspecting chicken, blooding the kill. After she finished her eyes whirled more purple than red. Then she took to te skies once more, trilling to hurry the males to come and Chase.

Laying curled up on a warm rock outside, nose tucked under a wing, Kivral purred slightly. His tail twitched in his dreams, and Kivral stretched out a leg. A call from a green awoke the brown though. His head jerked upwards, and swirling red eyes scanned the area, searching for the location of the Rising green. A low croon came from Kivral's throat, and he crawled to his feet. Where was she? Letting out another low growl, Kivral entered the sky with a beat of his powerful, though young, wings. He would find this green. She had to be nearby.
Circling once in the spot just above where he awoke, Kivral tried to pinpoint the location of the green. She was... somewhere. The high-pitched squeal of a downed chicken reached his ears, and Kivral turned on a dime. The green, the green, that was the only thing he wanted. Kivral followed the second calling of the males, and found green Missy showing off with her glowing hide. Kivral bugled to her, announcing his presence. Her Kivral was here, here and ready to win this Flight. The brown followed the form of the green as she flew in the air. He wasn't about to let the female out of his sights.

Brown Seichou Seichou was basking under the sun on a boulder near the lake. He was contemplating on getting a bite to eat when he heard a flit's mating call. He perked up interested since the last time he participated in a flight, he hadn't been able to catch the female. This time for sure, he'll be able to achive his goal of catching the female.
Launching himself up into the sky, he fle towards the feeding grounds. His last meal had been five days ago, and Seichou would need the blood to give him the power to endure a long flight, and to do any acrobatic aerial manuevering should Green Missy demand it of her Chasers.
Along the way, Seichou spotted a rabbit and easily snatched it from the ground. Seichou landed a few feet away and immediately blooded his kill. He was tempted into taking a few bites of the meat, but he knew that the meat would only mean he would be flight-heavy. Discarding the carcass for scavengers, Seichou launched himself once more up into the skies of Earth. He would need another rabbit or chicken to blood before he felt confident that he would be able to outlast any Chasers of the female.
Arriving at the feeding grounds, Seichou flew towards the chicken coop and snatched himself a chicken. Landing a few feet away from the nervous poultry, Seichou blooded his second kill. At last, he was ready for the Chase. Looking up to scan the skies, he saw the lovely Green Missy and another Brown already chasing after her.
With a roar of challenge, Seichou announced his arrival and participation in the Chase. He beat his wings gaining him speed and altitude. He arrowed towards the pair of flits already up in the sky. Seichou will not be outdone by the other Brown.

Brown Bahamut Bahamut was hunting. The little roach hardly stood a chance as the hefty brown leapt upon it, squealing with victory. Halfway through swallowing the nasty insect he'd caught, a sound caught his attention.
At that point, everything else was ignored. A green was rising- he had to be there. He bolted across hisLorelei's floor, leaping to her desk and then into the air with a bugle of anticipation.
He swooped across the bowl at near record speed, hurtling at full speed into an unsuspecting duck alongside the lake. Swiftly he drained the bird, blooding his meal as fast as he could to follow the object of his desires. The other browns were merely a distraction; the heavyset flit that Bahamut was, he would not be bothered by weaklings like them.
Blue Hiro Hiro sniffed the air delicately, standing and glancing around from his perch on the biggoldshinyone's back. Keening softly, he leapt into the air, gliding off the dragon to the feeding grounds where he heard the siren call of the green.
As fastidiously cleanly as always, he ignored the browns feeding, marking them off in his mind as messy and slow. He chose to snag a smaller rodent-like creature to blood, licking the mess of his nose and claws before he jumped into the sky after the sparkling green.
His own hide gleamed like polished stone, and he called out to the beautiful Missy, streaking after her like a blue comet. Those browns were no match for his agility, and the large one was a fool for trying to race against such a fine specimen of a blue as her. Surely, the green would be his.

Missy crooned as she saw her chasers. Three browns and a blue. She was proud, but each of them would have to earn the right to claim her.
Missy was flying low and even, conserving her energy. She trilled to the males, flicking her tail to entice them. She wanted to see their best. She wanted something interesting. Something unexpected.

Behind him, three more males took up Missy's challenge. Two browns, and a blue, bringing the total number of suitors up to four. This would be an adventure for Kivral. He let out a screech, and did his best to get his flitter brain to analyze the situation. Two other browns, and instinct told him that browns were low on maneuverability, but great with stamina. Well not as good as the higher-ranked bronzes and golds, but this was a green they were Chasing. Blues, on the other claw, were the best match for a green. Small, light, and good in a pinch. Kivral tilted on his side and tried to stare down the blue that was following in his wake.
He was catching up. No blue would out-do brown Kivral!
Red swirling in a dangerous reddish-orange, he pressed his wings harder to try and pull ahead of the pack. A green Flight wasn't going to last long anyway. Young and brash, Kivral roared, a small growl from the fire lizard, and set his sights on Missy, just seconds ahead of him. He bared his fangs at the other suitors as he passed, not allowing them to see any hesitation behind his eyes. Kivral pushed ahead, Missy's glowing green form filling his vision. She flicked her tail, and sent the brown into a frenzy. Hanging onto his sanity by a thread, Kivral was pushed to the edge by his mating lust.
He wasn't in his right mind. Kivral crooned to the green, a soft lovesong for her. He purred, his mood changing abruptly as his vision traveled between each of the flitters involved in the Flight. He caught sight of one of the other browns, and gave him a nasty look, but the second his faceted eyes settled on Missy, Kivral went straight to head-over-heels lover boy. Letting out a bugle, Kivral dove under Missy, using the dive to gain speed and pass just before the green. He spread his wings wide, gliding under Missy, trying to impress her with his size. Why would one not want him anyway? He was a beautiful, darkly-colored brown. No one can resist his charm. Arrogantly, Kivral snarled in pleasure.
A brown head turned, twisting, to stare up at Missy. In liquid fashion, the rest of the fire lizard's body followed, a quick turn-over so that the brown was on his back, gliding on his out-stretched wings. His dark body tantalizingly teasing the green. Did she not want him? The best of the suitors, that could glide on the back of his wings. Unfortunately, it wasn't something he could keep up for long. Kivral faltered, his frame shaking as he tried to hold the position.

Brown Seichou As Seichou reached the pair, two others made their participation known. Another Brown and a Blue. He may know of them, but he didn't know them personally. Besides, with a Mating Flight, all bets are off and every flit for his own. Seichou was not about to let his chance of catching the lovely Missy.
As he heard Missy trill and enticed the males with a flick of her tail, Seichou wondered what aerial display he can do to impress her. And as he contemplated, he saw a Brown by name of Kivral if he wasn't mistaken, do some decent dives and fly-overs. Of course, when he saw Kivral falter as he tried to fly upside-down Seichou inwardly laughed. And if a flit could smirk, Seichou would have done so.
After a while, Kivral seems to have finished displaying his talents. And with that, Seichou now concentrated on his own aerial prowess. With a tilt of his wings, he swerved to the right and angling his body up, he made loop-de-loop around the group of flits. When he was almost back to his starting position, he sensed an thermal updraft and using that, swooshed past the group of flits, high up in the air with his wings spread wide to catch the most of the updraft.
And then reaching the highest point, Seichou now angled his body straight down and tucking his wings close to his body, proceeded to dive bomb straight to the ground in an unbelievable velocity. And once more, he swooshed past the group of flits, racing towards the ground. Before he could crash into the ground, Seichou unfurled his wings and he glided back up with the others and with an upside-down maneuver, he flew past the group and righting himself, he was once more at his starting point.
He bugled a challenge at the others, daring them to out-do his aerial display. Then he crooned at the gorgeous Green Missy letting her know how lovely she was as he watched her flying by. He maybe a little winded that with all that going up and down that he did but he was by no means incapacitated. He may also be a bit tired since that bit of aerial display required wing muscles and body coordination that meant, he would not be blown away by an errant gusts of wind as he flew. For now, he conserved what stamina and strength he had for the home stretch. He surely hoped that his aerial display was enough to entice Missy to choose him over all the others.

Brown Bahamut Bahamut scoffed at the paltry aerial displays. The big brown Kivral wa sshowing off, flying upside down. No need to waste energy like that. Bahamut was stronger by far than any of the others.
The heavy brown roared in his best fashion, opting for a display of power over agility. He beat his wings heavily to gain on the tantalizing green, thrashing his tail from side to side violently to keep the other suitors at bay. He snapped his teeth and curved his neck, showing off his strong chest. He would be able to protect the beautiful green Missy. His claws flexed dangerously, and he flew abover her, spreading his wings and overshdowing her from a few feet above. Couldn't she see he was so strong? The other suitors stood no chance against his ight, and he roared again to impress her with the loudness and strength of his voice.
Blue Hiro Hiro sped forward, giving a disdainful look to the brown trying to stare him down. So the brown was bigger, so what? Hiro was a falcon in the sky, a blue blaze. No brown could EVER out-fly him. Why would they ever try?
He saw the display the big brown was making, showing off his strength, and Hiro knew he could not compete. Still, the brown was thick, and strong, but he could not comare to the sleek shining sapphire of Hiro. The blue detoured slightly to veer off above the lake as Missy waited for her suitors to impress her. He skimmed the surface, getting low enough to graze the surface of the water with his wingtips, sending up a spray of water droplets along his wake.
The fell along him and he swooped upwards and slashed his tail across the water, creating an arcing splash that he made an abrupt one-eight to dive back through before the water fell back into the lake.
Crying out triumphantly, he rejoined the others, daring any of the browns to beat that. He lowered his voice to a croon as he neared Missy again, callling out to her in a plea just for her.

If flitters could smirk, Missy would be. She enjoyed their displays, but she wasnt impressed yet. She wanted more. She wanted them to show her why they were worthy to father her clutch.
She trilled back to them, then sped forward in a blur of glimmering green. Sensing a thermal she spread her wings and was thrust upwards with the thermal. At the height of her ascent she easily leveled out, doing a few twists and loops to show off her magnificance before watching her suitors again.
How would they prove themselves to be worthy of her?

His lithe body shuddering, Kivral gave up his display by out from under Missy. He dropped like a stone, folding his wings against his back, and allowing himself to fall. The brown flipped over again, righting himself, and allowing the rush the air resistance to yank his wings back open with a sound similar to a canvas sheet. The wind pulled at the delicate membranes, and Kivral felt his tendons straining as he fought to keep himself upright. The other suitors to the Flight had filled in where Kivral left, and he now felt a tinge of jealousy at them.
Seichou performed his own aerial display complete with loops and twists, while Bahamut was content with an exhibition of his power, roaring and baring his teeth in protest. Hiro was of a different mind. Likewise, the blue pulled away, skimming the surface of the lake, his tail sweeping up droplets of the crystal-clear water. He would have to out-do these other firelizards. Missy's trill to the males only set Kivral's heart a-flutter. The green demonstrated her speed in the way that she left the males in the dust, and added a spectacle to her ascent.
Already dead-set on winning the green, Kivral didn't hesitate in his own endeavors. Now considerably behind the rest of the pack, Kivral pressed his wings, pumping them up and down to gain altitude. He screeched, his piercing voice echoing in ears and through the area. Mouth opening in a snarl, the brown trailed after the other males. The scent of the green in heat filled his nostrils, a sweet, enticing smell that tormented the firelizard and excited him at the same time. At the moment, his eyes were sent on one thing, and one thing only: the glistering green blur in front of him.
Missy, the bright green firelizard that caught Kivral's eyes. She caught his fancy, and Kivral wasn't about to let her go; especially not to some blue. An agitated growl emanated from the brown flit, and he forced himself to keep up the pace. That stunt he pulled earlier was a dumb idea, but if it held it Missy's attention by any chance, Kivral wasn't going to let Missy get away. He saw that look, he knew that look. Determination flowed through the brown's veins, and Kivral tried to command the female's attention once more, his red eyes rapidly swirling.
Willing his leathery wings to keep him aloft for one more extravagant parade. He overtook the other suitors in one last burst of speed, also spreading his wings to allow the thermal to carry his body towards Missy again. A soft chirp to the green announced his presence, and Kivral angled his wings, tilting them one way, and sending himself into a spiraling barrel roll. The brown twisted to one side, only to right himself and start back the other way, drawing in his wings close, and fighting to keep himself at the same level as Missy.

Brown Seichou As the others finished whatever aerial display they dared do, it would seem that Missy was not yet Impressed. With a trill she sped forward in a blur as she caught a thermal and flew past him up into the sky riding the thermal. At the peak, Seichou saw her doing a few twists and loops as she came down. It was a magnificent display of her maneuverability and Seichou crooned pleasurably at her.
But since she wants more out of him, he racked his brain for what other manuevers that he can do to Impress his worthiness to the gorgeous Green. As he contemplated, he saw Brown Kivral proceed to perfom his aerial display for Missy. It was good as Seichou saw him do spiral barrel rolls. When it seemed that Kivral was down with his bit of display, Seichou now decided on what manuever to Impress Missy with.
Sensing a thermal to his left, Seichou moved towards it and with a snap of his wings was thrusted high up in the sky, past Missy and her other suitors. When he reached the peak, Seichou tucked his wings close to his body and began to turn, to twist, in a 360 degree as he made a figure eight up high in the sky. It was a dizzying endeavor if not practiced a lot, but Seichou had been practicing so many manuevers that this bit of daring do was not that difficult to accomplish. True, it ate at his reserved energy as he focused in mainting the spinning of his body as well as the direction that his body was taking while he spinned.
After he did a complete figure eight, he snapped open his wings and with a woosh stopped right in the middle for a second as he oriented himself. The others were still below him and he lazily spiraled down to where Missy was waiting with the others. As he neared the group, Seichou bugled at her and hoped that she had been impressed by his aerial display of acrobatic ability.
Seichou was down to his last ounce of strenght and stamina. He only had enough to sustain a flight long enough to ensure that Missy would have a clutch of eggs. He hoped that Missy would not be asking for more aerial display for he felt that he might have to withdraw from the flight soon because of exhaustion.

Brown Bahamut
Bahamut rumbled his displeasure at the actions of the other browns. Seichou had even impressed him with his figure-eight maneuver, and Kivral's careful rolling and spinning were more than he thought he could manage.
Making up his mind to impress Missy even if he hurt himself trying, Bahamut stretched his wings to the fullest, surging forward and angling himself upward. It was too easy to gain height and he soon found himself far above the others. Two brown and one blue flashes of color surrounded the shimmering emerald speck he wanted.
Well he was coming for her. Bahamut closed his wings and dive-bombed the group. Like a stone he fell, screaming out his triumph as he hurtled down toward them. With the fire lizard equivalent of a smug grin, he fell through the middle of the crowd of other flits. Missy would surely be proud of his bold and daring move, he thought.
He stopped just below the others with a painful crack as he went from a dive to full-stop by snapping his wings out and jerking to a halt. The strain on his wings was immense, and he would be hurting for the next few days, but now, the sight of the beautiful sweet green above eclipsed everything else.
Blue Hiro
Hiro watched the browns with growing unease. They were showing off and performing aerobatics like a bunch of sprightly blues! At this rate, even his cleverest trick wouldn't impress Missy over the larger and stronger suitors. He had to up the ante.
So the browns could show off- so could he. He waited as the others finished their displays, mostly ignoring them to seek out the twisting, dancing shape of the most gorgeous green he'd ever lay eyes on.
When the last brown, the hefty one, finished his performance, he scoffed. Everyone knew that was a cheap fancy trick, but he risked his health by doing something so foolish. The proud blue flexed his wings, experimentally testing his strength for what was to come. The light shone off his immaculately-groomed hide, and the water droplets still left on his skin form his last stunt sparkled in a way that HAD to have been planned. (And it was. Hiro knew how to look good.)
With a sweet trill to the green of his dreams, he swooped under and around her. Staying to the left of her, he whistled a soft love song to her, then put his plan into action. He beat his wings, and streamlined his body. Finding a nice pace to match Missy's, he stayed just by her side.
Then he tilted slightly to the left, snapped his wings closed, and executed a roll that brought him up and over Missy. Had he not planned it right, he would have crashed into her disastrously, but he had timed and leveled the maneuver to a T, so he just cleanly rolled over her, leaving a bare half-inch of space between them. His back could have touched hers had she moved just a little, and for a split second he hung above her, wings wrapped around him like a cloak, before the rollover finished and he was trailing along her right side.
Hah. Silly browns. So they could copy a blue, sure. But he'd like to see any of the muddy colored creatures try something with such finesse.
He caught Missy's eye as best he could and purred happily. The prideful and elegant blue would have done anything to keep her attentions. She was all he cared about, he thought as he looked at her. With the sweet, enticing green capturing his heart, even the fierce spirit of competition seemed to ebb away. She was all that mattered.

Missy watched each suitor with interest, but only one could win. Did win.
Missys limbs were straining, and like her suitors she was tiring. It was indeed time to choose which had won her. She looked at each male, eyeing them for their strength and manuverability. But in the end she already knew which would be the father of her clutch.
Missy dipped her wings and flew slightly under the blue Hiro. She trilled to him to claim what he had won, even as she folded her wings and began to fall.

((Meh. Snce she's made her choice, I'm going to put in my final posts.))
Bahamut
The heavy brown keened softly as he saw Missy make her selection. Halting his chase, he backwinged for a moment, then snorted and turned tail to speed off in the other direction. He'd lost the flight, but his rather short attention span was already shifting itself away to the sight of a sparrow flying through the air. The it was on the sparrow squawking in terror, then it was to mmmmyumyumyummyfoooddeliciousbirdie.
Hiro Had she chosen? He was tired, and he was afraid he would not last much more of this. And then she decided.
The blue trilled his joy as Missy flew just beneath him. As she bean to fall he swept down and caught her, folding his wings around both of them and twining his tail with her's.

Brown Seichou Alas, his aerial display and acrobatics didn't seem to have Impressed Missy for she had chosen Hiro among her suitors. Seichou veered away from the couple trying to find a nice boulder to lay on as he basked under the sun. He was just too exhausted that he didn't even mind not catching Missy.
And the past was easily forgotten as Seichou began to fantasize about finding that perfect boulder where he could relax and rest as the sun shone down on him.

Satisfied with his own displays, Kivral evened himself out to fly alongside Missy, eyes only on her. He saw her tiring, and he trilled in happiness--he was sure to win; sure of it. Ignoring the other suitors in favor of keeping a multi-faceted eye on the green, Kivral crooned softly to gain her attention. She dipped her wings, and angled away from Kivral, much to his disappointment. A distraught keen came from the brown's open maw, and he longingly looked after the female as she Chose Hiro.
Defeated, Kivral cried out, sharply spiraling away from the entwined firelizards. The other suitors were long gone, with Kivral hanging around the longest. Even as he wished that Missy would turn away from the blue, and pick him instead, his inattentive mind drew away from the thoughts of the green, and concentrated on other efforts. Missy and the Flight now forgotten, the brown flew away, his aching muscles calling out for him to rest. Landing on an overhang above the weyr bowl, Kivral chirped gently before curling up on the sun-warmed rock.
