Okay, I just realized that none of my characters have a pet that isn't a flit. Now, I'm wondering if it would be okay for me to RP Adair and have him acquire like a canine (hoping for a wolf to be honest) when he arrives on Earth. He either finds the canine as injured somewhere in the forest, or some ranger/hiker hands him a canine (puppy or adult doesn't really matter). *shrugs* I don't know how, but I'd like Adair to acquire a canine pet. XD So... would anyone be interested as the ranger or hiker who hands over a pup to Adair? If no one is interested, then I'll just make a thread where Adair finds an injured canine in the forest. But before I make the thread, my fellow Admins, would Adair acquiring a wolf be permissible?

There was a little thing with Wolfy's Alex about her having a wolf as a pet, a gift from her adopted family (she was spoiled, after all) and I dunno how that conversation went between Topaz and Faizah, but they decided against the wolf. You'll want to ask Faizah about the details and reason why, but I kinda doubt that a wolf would be allowed to run around the weyr. Especially with firelizards and smaller pets proving to be easy prey for a wolf that's fairly wild, even if it was kept as a pet. I've actually been thinking about getting some kind of canine for one of my own characters too--maybe a cat? I've also had this idea mulling around in my head for a while, where some candidates/weyrlings/riders decide they want to sneak out of the Weyr, and head to town... Pernese weyrlings get more Earthian names to "blend in" and kinda have a night out on the town. I dunno if you want to merge that together with this, and Adair buys a pup from a pet store? I wouldn't mind having Rafael play chaperone either--he needs more threads, and he's the only one from my characters that would know the town, since he's not restricted to Rocky. Whether or not he would go along with sneaking weyrlings/candidates out is a different story, but if you tempted him with a book or two.. Or even threatened his books, he would go along. He'd be the mostly likely to get a dog too, so he could buy one for Adair as well, with his surplus of money. Of course, this is all going with the assumption that Faizah says no to a wolf, and you don't have a specific idea in mind for where/how Adair gets a dog. And maybe I'm just spewing nonsense now. Anyway...

I denied alex her wolf because there were doubts as to why someone would sell her adoptive family a wolf in the first place, and also alex just didnt seem strong enough in character for a wolf. I havent read Adairs profile, so im not deciding yes or no currently. but if he does get a wolf, it would have to be a pup found injured.
as for a night on the town, Im game. I want to rp more with Nakia, and this would be the best time in my opinion. you know, wild child would adore a chance to go out on the town with a bunch of others. maybe even take La'as and N'lon.

Let me know what you decide after you have read Adair's profile, Faizah. And I wouldn't mind if Adair would have to nurse the wolf pup back to health. He's good with that. XD And yes, a night out in town would be something that Adair would want to do. He might even drag Lesla to join just so she gets to experience being outside the weyr and socializing with the local folk.

Yes. Adair may have his wolf pup. Just so long as he finds it injured and trains it well. We dont need a flitter killer.

*nods* Will certainly train the wolf pup well. Adair wouldn't want his Finder to get injured/eaten by his wolf pet.

Exactly. If the pup is raised believing everyone in the weyr is its pack, including all the little pets, then it wouldnt think of attacking them. Adair would just be seen as the alpha.
Sorry. I ranted. I learned a bit about "tamed" wolves from reading Jean Auel's Earth's Children series. Wolf in there is my favorite character. I cried when he almost died...
